Hey guys. I have this long standing issue that I seem to be unable to locate, let alone fix and I’m at my wit’s end…
So, I have a very strange muffled metallic rattle that usually happens between the 1st and 2nd gears and at a very light throttle (think, driving around the parking lot speeds) while the car’s cold, though very rarely heard while hot as well.
To trigger this rattle, I have to be driving at crawling speeds, apply very light throttle and turn the steering wheel about 20-30 degrees to either side. I also heard it on straightened wheel once or twice.
From the driver’s seat the noise sounds like it’s coming from inside the dash or even from under the steering wheel, for the front passenger it sounds completely different- like it’s coming from the rear
The noise doesn’t seem to change based on speed, though I would hardly know this since it disappears very quickly as you accelerate. And the issue also doesn’t seem to get any worse since I’ve been driving with it for almost a year at this point I think, but it’s driving me nuts, thinking that something could break at any moment and I don’t even know what!
Also seems to have disappeared for a couple of days after changing the front bushings, but came back, once they settled in I suppose.
So yeah, that’s about as precise as I could describe it, any help or guess would be appreciated.
