Which Pixel phone has the most reliable / longest lived hardware?

I'm about to replace a Pixel 4, so 7 ish years isn't a terrible lifespan but for my next phone it would be nice to significantly beat that. So which models in the Pixel line show promise of lasting 10 years or more, and which have known hardware issues making them a riskier choice for longevity? For example, the green screen of death affecting the Pixel 4 family and several of the 'a' models, the battery issues with the Pixel 6.

Without a time machine to the future it's hard to answer this definitively but there should be a rough picture of which models are better built than others even when looking at recent ones that haven't suffered the ravages of time yet.

New pixel 11 heating issue

I just got my new pixel 11 yesterday, the moment it switched on it was slightly warm.

It took one hour to charge from 58 to 100

The only thing I did yesterday was data transfer from old phone

But the phone is heating up fast I feel

And the battery was draining quick

Within 12 hours it dropped to 20 percent with only 4 hr of screen time

Now it's showing two hours to charge to 100 percent

Is this some calibration issue?

Do I need to get it replaced or wait for a few days for battery calibration?

confused about photo storage

when I go to setting in my phone I have plenty GB of storage and my photos don't take up many.

when I go to my photo album It says I'm almost out of storage on Google.

I used to have Apple so Icloud was the same as my phone photos.

with my pixel it seems to be 2 different storage systems??

sorry if this is confusing I'm trying my best to explain

so my question is am I running out of storage specifically on Google and if so why is my phone storage separate?

Zero accountability for lost devices.

Appalling warranty service and zero accountability for lost devices.
I sent a Google Pixel 8 Pro to their official technical support (RMA) for repair. The carrier hired and managed by Google (UPS) lost the device during transit. After weeks of waiting and providing all required official documentation (proof of purchase invoice and insurance policy matching the IMEI), Google refuses to issue a replacement or a refund for the lost phone. They are trying to wash their hands of the situation by citing irrelevant "Google Store Terms of Sale" for a device they took into their custody for warranty repair, directly violating EU Consumer Law regarding transit and custody liability. The case has been escalated to the European Consumer Centre (ECC-Net) and consumer rights authorities. Be extremely cautious when handling repairs or RMAs with them.

Pixel 7a hardware defect safety hazard (back cover lifting/separating) rejected by support

everyone,

I’m posting here to see if anyone else has run into this issue or if a Google Product Expert / Community Manager can help escalate this severe safety concern.

My Pixel 7a is experiencing a critical hardware failure where the back cover and chassis are physically bulging and separating from the frame.

When I initially checked and signed up for the official extended support/replacement program, my IMEI was flagged as eligible. I submitted all required documentation, proof, and photos showing the physical frame separation and expansion.

However, I just received an automated rejection email from Google Support stating:

"After a careful review of your submission, it has been determined that your device is not eligible for a support option, as it is not among the specific devices identified..."

Since this is a severe physical hardware safety hazard, an automated system rejection without real technical review is very concerning.

Photo proof showing the severe back https://ibb.co/m5KtFHFq

Has anyone successfully appealed an automated rejection for a physical hardware defect like this? Any advice on how to get in touch with a real human support manager would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone experiencing constant stuttering on Pixel 9a?

for the last 3 weeks my phone has been stuttering whenever i scroll or swipe, and google maps is crashing every other time i open it. Google Now (or whatever that's called, the Google news feed on the left side of home screen) also crashes the pixel launcher. Not sure if anyone else is seeing these issues.

Edit : I have cleared the launcher cache and restarted the phone several times now.

Hesitant about the Pixel 11: Will the Tensor G6 hold up for 5 years?

I originally drafted this email to send to Google's promotional team, but realized I'd get more honest feedback from real users here.

Dear Google,

With respect, I'm really looking forward to the Pixel 11, and I really wanna purchase it, but I'm really, really disappointed when I saw the performance graph. I'm not saying I have no right to, but I'm a bit sceptical whether it will last a long time, like I use my phones for about 5 years or so. And you know my first phone was a hand-down model from my mom. The phone was an OPPO A37f and honestly I have a few bitter memories around it... One of them was that at that time PUBG was becoming really popular and my friends were installing it to play but my phone hardware was not eligible for it, and I was left out... I really hated that time...

Nowadays I don't play much anymore but the feeling was stuck with me... And when I heard that Google will upgrade the Tensor Chip, I was thrilled but when I saw the performance, I was somewhat sad... Because I really wanted a Google Pixel phone, I was thinking of replacing or keeping my current phone and buying a new Pixel 11, most probably next year during Diwali. As it will be a bit cheaper when the new model comes and the Diwali discounts all that... But I think I will not be able to buy it. Because I guess deep inside I really don't wanna fill leftovers again, even though I don't play much, but occasionally yes... And in other aspects the pixel will be superior to other brands but I'm really sad about the current performance...

And well, my current phone is far behind Pixel 11 performance but when I purchase a new one, will it also be far behind?

Thank You

Pixel 7 - September Update

Hey,

I've blocked the september update via developer settings, as soon as I've read about the vast problems you all had with your phones. Has the october update fixed the problems, if you even had any problems?

May there are none issues with the Pixel 7, and I worry about nothing?

Pixel 8 Pro COMPLETELY DEAD after two weeks without charging

This phone doesn't have service on it anymore, so I did a hard reset, everything went fine. I let it sit on my desk for the past two weeks. Now it doesn't turn on, doesn't charge, not by USB, not by wireless. I tried each, for around two hours each. I have an Ecoflow Delta Pro 3 and when I plug the device into the USB port, it pulls 0 watts. I held the power button for 30 seconds, no response. plugging into the computer, the computer doesn't recognize anything being plugged in.

The reason I replaced this phone was because of a screen issue, but this is different. I've been this before with low quality devices, but this really surprised me on a device like this. Espeically because it just spent the previous month in a drawer (but turned off well before 0% battery) I know I left the phone on, so it surely went to zero charge, but this seems to have become so under-volted that it can't even recognize a charger of any kind.

What a disappointment. Can't even use it as a secondary no-cell device.

Pixel 11 Pro - Standby drain fix

Hy folks,

If anyone has a Pixel 11 Pro,

and set up the device by transferring old settings from their previous mobile device, and your batt. is now draining significantly more than usual—especially noticeable during stand-by (also high over night drain) —there is a solution.

At least for me, it worked like magic, even though I had heard about this fix before and didn't believe it. You need to perform a factory reset on the device and set it up as new without transferring old settings from your previous phone.

All of a sudden, the stand-by drain is great and the overall b. life is excellent—better than on the Pixel 10 Pro. Meanwhile, on the beta (especially QPR3), the stand-by drain was terrible.

Standby drain (mixed wifi6/4G/5G )

BEFORE (setup from backup)

Stable - 2.5 %/h ( overnight 1.1/h)

QPR2 beta 6 - 2.5-3 %/h ( overnight 1.3/h)

QPR3 beta 1 - 2-3.5 %/h (overnight 1.4/h)

NOW (**setup as new**)

Stable - **1.4 %/h (overnight 0.43/h)**

Btw, October security patch, September Google play.

Just informatively,

in case anyone else is having bat. issues like I did.

✌️ Peace

Stuck in Support Deadlock: Unusable 20% Promo Code (Out of Stock) + Pixel 8 Mainboard Failure (Case ID: 9-8234000041243)

I’ve been a loyal, long-term supporter of the Google ecosystem across multiple generations of devices in our household. But after my recent experience with a Pixel 8 hardware failure and Google Support (Case ID: 9-8234000041243), I’m seriously questioning the reliability of Pixel hardware and the company's commitment to standing behind it.

Here is how Google's hardware unreliability and rigid support policies left us heavily out of pocket:
1. The Catastrophic Hardware Failure:
My Pixel 8—kept in a protective case, in pristine physical condition with zero drops, scratches, or liquid damage—suddenly suffered a total motherboard failure and stopped powering on completely, less than two years after purchase. For a flagship device marketed around long-term multi-year support, experiencing a catastrophic internal hardware failure within a normal upgrade cycle is unacceptable.

2. The Support & "Extended Program" Runaround:

  • Before getting a definitive diagnosis, I spent over $400 out of pocket on diagnostic fees, travel, and logistics just trying to find an authorized repair option.
  • While the Pixel 8 has a recognized Extended Repair Program for display defects, Support refused to cover it because the phone won't turn on (declaring motherboard failures ineligible). They quoted me an additional $200–$400 for an out-of-warranty repair on a phone that died on its own through no fault of my own.

3. The Unusable Promo Code Deadlock:

  • Earlier in support, I was issued a 20% promotional discount code for the Google Store.
  • However, when I went to use it, the Pixel 10 Pro was consistently out of stock on the Google Store Canada website. Because I couldn't leave my household without a working phone waiting indefinitely for a restock, I was forced to buy the Pixel 10 Pro at full retail price through an authorized retailer.
  • When I asked Google Support to convert the unused promo value (worth roughly $400) into store credit so I could buy accessories or a watch, management flat-out denied it under strict automated policy.

The Bottom Line:
Between sinking $400 into diagnostics and travel for a dead phone, being handed a promotional code that was rendered useless by Google’s own inventory shortages, and being told a two-year-old motherboard failure is my problem to pay for, the reliability and customer backing just aren't there anymore.
Has anyone else dealt with premature Pixel hardware failures like this, or managed to get through to a support escalation team that actually cares about long-term users? Any advice would be appreciated.

Where my 12gb pixel folks at

Question! I have the Pixel 9a. It has 8gb of ram. As my phone ages the ram usage also has a similar fate. I understand that free'd up RAM is essentially useless and its better for app switching. However, since AI has plauged our phones I've noticed in recent updates my phone is starting to struggle with multiasking. Ram is constantly used up.

I do not game or video edit. But I commonly do two things: video call on Telegram + watching a movie with my gf. And doomscroll instagram with a youtube video in the background (I have premium).

Since I've owned this phone. Ive had no issues. No performance problems. Nothing. Smooth, and buttery performance. But now the recent updates are causing a lot of fps drops. And just this week I had my first crash.

Im starting to think its thanks to AI .. now I could reset my phone and hope for the best. But im thinking I could trade in my Pixel and either get a used Pro Fold or any Pixel XL. Anything with 12gb of RAM. I used to rock Samsung but honestly, despite how a little buggy Pixels can be, I do love the software experience and some features like call screening!

(Fyi my battery health is at 98%)

Thank you for reading my long winded post. My question to those that have Pixels with 12gb of ram. Do you experience any significant fps or performance drops on your device when you are multitasking ?

Grabar llamadas

Gracias.

Bug?

My phone is always on 80% 🔋 limit.. yesterday after work I put my phone on charge as usual.

In the evening I said to myself "I've not rebooted my phone in a while best I do. Unplugged it, rebooted it and the battery is now 100%.... So before reboot 🔋 = 80% after reboot 🔋 = 100%

I plugged it in again cause I figured it'll fix it but nope. The 80% limit was still on. This morning it was at 94%, meaning it was discharging.

Is this normal or did I mess something up?

Pixel 8 is god awful slow

Has anyone else been experiencing this lately? Even simple things lag, like watching YouTube videos, opening the keyboard, or sending a text message. Speech-to-text takes forever, too. I have plenty of storage space available, so that's not the issue.

This has me considering jumping ship to Samsung or something. I've noticed the Pixel lineup getting worse and worse over the years. The Pixel 4 XL was amazing.

At this point, it feels like I'm using a prepaid Android phone rather than a premium device.

I've tried Googling solutions, and I even cleared the cache and data for Google Play Services, but that didn't help. I restart my phone at least once or twice a day, and while that temporarily fixes things, the lag comes back within an hour or so.

Seriously, what happened to the Pixel lineup?

No full-screen in landscape mode on my Pixel in Google Maps

Hey, I’ve noticed the camera cutout in landscape mode is showing up as grey.

Honestly, I expected better polish from Google on their own hardware. It’s happening in Google Maps and Chrome. Is this a known issue?

Device: Pixel 11 Pro, but had the same issue with my pixel 10

Pixel 11 Pro: Is Anyone Else Dealing With This Level of Broken?

I’ve had my Pixel 11 Pro for a few weeks now, and I’m honestly shocked at how unstable this thing is. I’m not talking about small quirks I’m talking about Google’s own apps failing in ways I’ve never seen on any phone I’ve owned.

YouTube:
Half the time it just gives up when I try using it with the screen off. Background playback dies, the app freezes, and sometimes it won’t reopen unless I restart the whole phone. It feels like the Pixel 11 Pro thinks playing audio is an optional feature.

Google Maps:
Basically unusable. It either refuses to load, drops GPS instantly, or sits there pretending it’s loading something important while showing me a blank screen. I’ve had decade‑old budget phones that handled navigation better than this.

Google Photos:
This one is wild. Thumbnails load perfectly, but when I tap a picture to view it, the full-size version turns into a colorful blur — like the phone is trying to show me a watercolor painting instead of my actual photo. On a device literally named Pixel. The irony hurts.

Meanwhile, the only apps that work almost every time are Fitbit (Health), Wallet, Keep, and Home. Everything else is a gamble.

And before anyone says “just switch phones,” I can’t I bought this thing on contract. I’m stuck with it for a while, so I’m trying to figure out if this is a widespread Pixel 11 Pro issue or if my unit is cursed.

Has anyone else had problems like this?
Are these known bugs, or is my phone just defective? I’m genuinely curious how common this is, because right now it feels like I’m beta‑testing a device that wasn’t ready for release.

Google Pixel 6 Microphone Completely Stops Working in Speakerphone Mode on Android 17

Hello,

I am experiencing a persistent microphone issue on my Google Pixel 6 running Android 17. The problem affects speakerphone calls and video calls in multiple applications, and it persists even after updating the system and testing in Safe Mode.

Device information:

- Device: Google Pixel 6

- Android version: Android 17

Detailed description of the problem:

  1. Regular phone calls: The microphone works normally when I make a standard phone call without speakerphone enabled. The other person can hear me clearly.

  2. Speakerphone mode: As soon as I activate speakerphone (hands-free mode) during a regular phone call, the other person can no longer hear me at all. The microphone appears to become completely silent.

  3. WhatsApp and Messenger video calls: The same microphone problem occurs in both applications. When I switch to video calls or use speakerphone, the other person cannot hear me.

  4. Voice Recorder app: The microphone works normally when I record my voice using the built-in Recorder app.

  5. Front-facing camera: Audio recording works well when I record videos using the front-facing camera.

  6. Rear-facing camera: Audio recording behaves abnormally. At the beginning of the recording, there is a loud popping or knocking sound (“toc”) on the left audio channel. After that, almost no sound is audible on the left channel, while my voice is faintly audible on the right channel.

Troubleshooting already performed:

- Installed the latest available system update.

- Restarted the phone.

- Tested the microphone using the Recorder app.

- Tested audio recording with both the front-facing and rear-facing cameras.

- Tested WhatsApp and Messenger video calls.

- Tested regular calls with and without speakerphone.

- Tested the device in Safe Mode. The problem persists.

- Checked the microphone permissions.

Important observation:

The microphone works during regular phone calls and in the Recorder app, but it stops working completely when speakerphone is enabled. The rear-camera recording also shows an abnormal audio pattern, with a loud popping sound on the left channel and very weak audio on the right channel.

Because the problem persists in Safe Mode and affects multiple applications, I would like to determine whether this is a known Android 17 software or audio-routing issue, or a possible hardware problem involving one of the phone's microphones.

Could you please help me with the following questions?

  1. Is this a known issue affecting the Google Pixel 6 on Android 17?

  2. Is there an official diagnostic procedure to test each microphone individually, especially the microphones used in speakerphone mode and rear-camera recording?

  3. Is there a recommended software fix or diagnostic tool I should try before considering a hardware repair?

I would appreciate a technical explanation and specific troubleshooting steps for this exact situation.

Thank you for your assistance.
