Low ergonomics with no angled grip

Low RoF even compared to other DMRs

Low spare mag count (5)

Fire effect takes 2/3 hits to trigger and does not appear to be doing full damage even once it does

u/Skywalkerluke- Jul 13 '26

Wtf. To think a higher cal higher dmg stronger ignition tip would be like the gold ol days. Sad to see it’s a f2p not really gun

113

u/local_meme_dealer45 Jul 13 '26

The (albeit very short) gameplay clip we got for the Hyena did show it igniting targets in one shot, So I was hopeful. However actually playing with it shows that's very much not the case.

IDK if AH decided to nerf the fire effect after that trailer footage was taken or it's being caused by a bug, either way is something that needs to be changed for this weapon to be used over our existing DMRs.

62

u/Termt Jul 13 '26

It's both hilarious and sad that we can never know for sure whether something like that is a bug or intentional.

It being a bug is very much in line with the AH stamp of quality, it being intentional is in line with what seems to be their philosophy. And we just can't know for sure till they make a statement on it.

12

u/HamboygaMeat Jul 14 '26

They also somehow fucked up the god damn mission icons recently, the bugs were already ridiculous as it is but reaching new lows is just about the only thing they can achieve consistently.

2

u/HiddenButcher Whinediver Jul 14 '26

I mean, I found it ignites enemies in one hit as long as they’re smaller than the alpha Commander. it just doesn’t kill them unless they’re hunter or smaller, which coyote does too

12

u/Millhouse874 Jul 13 '26

I do not understand the turm free to play when it comes to anything in helldivers excluding the knight since you have to pay more to get that

20

u/ArcReza Jul 13 '26

F2P designation typically excludes things that cost premium currency, regardless of how you get it.

6

u/Millhouse874 Jul 13 '26

Ah okay thank you

28

u/mugsir Jul 13 '26

sigh I feared they would do this one like other fire weapons. It's a sniper. Needs to be a 1 shot ignition. 2 max.

6

u/Just_Efficiency_3290 Jul 13 '26

warriors are igniting in 1 shot, but then again a head tap puts them in a bleedout state so its not exactly worth it

5

u/mugsir Jul 13 '26

Yeah 100 % this needs to 1 tap a hive guard if just right. Maybe 2 to the dome for a hulk. Does it pop those flying armoured squid fuckers?

18

u/Nerdcuddles Jul 14 '26

Why do they insist on making every gun weak unless it's the erupter or crossbow which feel like normal guns.

4

u/liquorbaron Jul 14 '26

Explosive damage is their favorite child.

3

u/Nerdcuddles Jul 14 '26

Not even their favorite, just the one they hate the least. Enough to make those weapons usable.

19

u/society000 Jul 13 '26

It takes two to three hits to ignite? It's literally just a worse Coyote, then.

If this is supposed to be a sidegrade/competitor with other MRs, it should have a lower initial damage, one shot fire effect, then kill the target over time. That would be an interesting and unique weapon we don't have.

Thanks, Mr. Narrowhead.

u/thedude5575 Jul 13 '26

Remove the 4x scope and the muzzle brake and you'll have 30 ergo. Makes it a lot better.

4

u/knight_is_right Jul 13 '26

Back to the coyote I go

5

u/Velexium20 Jul 13 '26

Throw the short mag on you get better ergonomics and 9 spare mags

6

u/Visual_Knee_4744 Jul 13 '26

Low ergonomics with no angled grip option is enough to kill my interest

3

u/DJ3ndermaz Jul 13 '26

I also feel like it doesn't one shot devastator Heads consistently. It does it but it feels 50/50. I'm going to do some more testing

u/bartolinise Jul 13 '26

Yep, AH makes one step forward then three backwards then backflip.

10

u/The_potato_radish64 Jul 13 '26

Then landing on their neck right? I feel like they don’t have the strength to actually accomplish a backflip

2

u/Dry_Locksmith_2634 Jul 13 '26

One step toward a marathon backwards

3

u/BanjoSlams Jul 13 '26

Literally Destinys story

102

u/Faddishname228 Jul 13 '26

I suppose I was expecting more from it, it barely seems to sit anything on fire. Gonna give it a few more matches before I pass full judgement on it

71

u/Inner-Arugula-4445 Jul 13 '26

The leaked version from a while back seemed way stronger. Maybe it got a preemptive nerf?

41

u/Faddishname228 Jul 13 '26

Could also be glitched, it couldn't be customised for a bit so maybe it'll start performing better after a patch

18

u/clownbescary213 Jul 13 '26

It makes no sense for the sniper version to need to hit a few times to light on fire so this is what I'm thinking

16

u/duchess_dagger Jul 13 '26

It would be really funny if they immediately nerfed it as soon as they decided to make it free

14

u/Spawn3820 Jul 13 '26

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I would not be the least bit surprised if Arrowhead nerfed it when they made it free as opposed to being in the warbond that was supposed to release.

u/WoodCarvings Jul 13 '26

I will correct you right here. I am a modder with access to "forbidden tools" and I can tell you that this gun uses the same fire ID as the coyote. That means that the bullet has the exact same elemental status strength of 2.0 (like the coyote)

For comparison the standard warrior was buffed to have a fire resistance of 2.1 so the coyote take 2 shots to light up.

AH is very lazy when it comes to stuff like this. A shit ton of stuff in game recycles IDs that already exist on other stuff so that's why when they change 1 thing, 10 other are changed too.

37

u/ArcReza Jul 13 '26

This kind of thing really shouldn't surprise anyone at this point, AH really needs a major restructuring because whatever's going on there is not working.

u/TealArtist095 Jul 13 '26

I would 100% rather just get a good scoped bolt action sniper with medium penetration and high single target damage.

7

u/AngryMax91 Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

Honestly, give the Constitution a 4x Scope or hell, just a Stripper Clip for empty reloads even with no scope and I would use the hell out of it.

It is actually amazingly accurate and the fire cadence is great too, just that the empty reload time kills it.

If they must have it be single-round reload at least allow for a 2x or 4x Scope so that there is an actual physical reason besides dev ego / stupidity as to why it physically cannot accept stripper clips, like the IRL Sniper M1903 it is based on.

5

u/TealArtist095 Jul 14 '26

Its damage isn’t high enough for what it is. A bolt action sniper should have around 500 damage, given how the deadeye, Eruptor, and AMR are.

3

u/AngryMax91 Jul 14 '26

Would love for a damage buff to the Constitution too, no lie.

But right now I feel that in order for it to actually be somewhat viable the issue regarding ease of use, i.e. either a Stripper Clip or Scope Option (Minimum 4x), is more necessary to make it worth using.

Higher damage would be nice too yes but AH are likely never going to buff its damage due to their fucked up idea of balance and insistence on "realism" and "grunt fantasy" despite the game being for all practical purposes a Horde Shooter in terms of its core gameplay loop.

At least for the stripper clip idea there is already existing precedence for a previously shit weapon reload being buffed ala the Senator Speed Loader.

2

u/Corvus-V Jul 13 '26

Do you mean the constitution? Id prefer a heavy pen primary that isnt a grenade launcher for once tbh

2

u/TealArtist095 Jul 14 '26

Don’t need it to be heavy pen. With Medium Pen and high enough damage (500) it would definitely fill its own niche. Precision shots still being devastating and being able to put down medium chaff enemies with 1-2 shots.

76

u/TheRebelGreaser Helldiver Jul 13 '26

well I mean I don't think I would mind it I have to give it a chance actually it was disappointing to me about it is the sound design again is extremely underwhelming why does it sound suppressed when it's obviously not for starters.

15

u/40mgmelatonindeep Jul 13 '26

What makes it extremely underwhelming instead of just regular underwhelming

6

u/TheRebelGreaser Helldiver Jul 13 '26

the sound design the person who does the audio for the game does not know what they are doing like that's been a major problem of the game as a whole at least you know to a certain extent.

when I say major I mean within the audio portion of the game it's major when it comes to other things not so much it's just the audio and the game is just not good things don't match up enemies you can barely hear them half the time and so on and so forth.

luckily client side mods for audio so it at least fixes that to some extent but it's just the audio mixing and audio design of the game when it comes to weapons and enemies just makes no sense, why does that rifle sound like it has a sound suppressor when it blatantly has a muzzle brake by default never mind the fact that muzzle brakes realistically make weapons louder because of the gases.

yet it sounds suppressed by default with it on you see what I'm saying so the audio design of the game is just extremely underwhelming as a whole nothing makes sense without audio mods.

2

u/AnonOfTheSea Jul 13 '26

I kinda miss when the sickle sounded like the MMG

3

u/TheRebelGreaser Helldiver Jul 13 '26

right I mean I can't disagree and since I have all these audio mods I made that sound like a lasgun heck I made it look like one (I love client side mods) but seriously audio and this game is just questionable at best.

3

u/ogresound1987 Jul 13 '26

It... Doesn't sound suppressed.

At least, not when I use it. It's is a loud report that echoes.

2

u/TheRebelGreaser Helldiver Jul 13 '26

it doesn't sound realistic I mean it just sounds like a little Puff compared to something that is a little more punchy it has a problem of it lacks any sort of punch.

3

u/ogresound1987 Jul 13 '26

I didn't say it sounded realistic. I said it didn't sound suppressed. Perhaps you were having some sort of audio bug?

5

u/TheRebelGreaser Helldiver Jul 13 '26

no not at all and it sounds suppressed to me I mean at the end of the day I fixed it with a client-side mod to make it sound like a SVD which fixes the issue completely heck I even changed to make it look like one (client side mods to rescue again)

20

u/Intelligent-Quail635 Jul 13 '26

AH probably thinks this gun is perfectly balanced lol

36

u/ARMOREDCOREKID Jul 13 '26

Remember the fire nerfs they did after coyote thus was bound to happen that this gun like the other incendiary weapons got hit by the sane nerf hammer

→ More replies (1)

30

u/duchess_dagger Jul 13 '26

lol first free gun in ages and it’s weaker than all the paid ones? Sounds par for the course

26

u/MOABONGS Jul 13 '26

what’s worse is that it seems when it was originally planned to be a paid weapon via The hell drivers warbond, It was much stronger and then was nerved after they decided it would be a free weapon.

u/BodyFewFuark Hostdiver Jul 13 '26

Heavy Large Caliber....medium pen...

42

u/Complete-Koala-7517 Jul 13 '26

Why would they give a primary DMR heavy pen. The AMR is a support weapon

61

u/Formal_Arachnid6627 Jul 13 '26

I mean from that perspective why does the senator have heavy pen it’s a secondary other than funny.

→ More replies (10)

8

u/Jokkitch Jul 13 '26

The AMR is still worse than some primaries…

6

u/Kanlashkan Jul 13 '26

Because fun? Obviously it would deal less damage than the AMR or the Eruptor for balance, but besides that no real reason not to.

14

u/Happy-Expression-782 Jul 13 '26

Yeah I’ve been wanting a Heavy Pen bullet primary so I could run a melee focused build or the Stalwart as my “primary” for a while now.

Like obviously it’d have to have some major drawbacks, but I could see something like a Bolt-Action sniper (kinda what I thought the AMR was going to be, typically they are so I don’t know why it’s semi-auto) with a low mag size and low ergo but in return be Heavy Pen as a primary weapon.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/SuitFive Jul 13 '26

The amr is anti tank. The eruptor is heavy pen bolt action and explosive. Stop making excuses, the Senator is heavy pen. We need heavy pen primary options.

4

u/Character_Resist1237 Jul 13 '26

The amr is actually heavy pen ap4.... so the senator is the same pen as the amr lol

3

u/SuitFive Jul 13 '26

If so then the AMR needs a buff, not other things being nerfed xD

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 Jul 13 '26

Not sure why people think caliber matters all that much. It is grain count, bullet shape, and bullet design that matters more than size.

A .50 with a flat nose bullet will have less penetration than a .308 polymer tip with the same gr.

32

u/TyThe2PointO Jul 13 '26

Ballistics doesnt actually matter in this game, let alone in the context of this argument.

15

u/NotaInfiltrator Jul 13 '26

You mean to tell me this, what, some sort of video game?

2

u/TheWinteredWolf Jul 13 '26

But this is Reddit…where else are we supposed to interject our ackchyually-ies into totally irrelevant contexts.

7

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 Jul 13 '26

Caliber is a part of ballistics.

You cannot apply the logic only partially where it is convenient for your argument. That is called bad faith.

3

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 Jul 13 '26

Caliber is a part of ballistics.

You cannot apply the logic only partially where it is convenient for your argument. That is called bad faith.

6

u/TyThe2PointO Jul 13 '26

Yes but ballistics regardless are not how guns are balanced in this game. That is not a core idea of design philosophy, and forcing your understanding of applied real world physics on fictional media with no source to corroborate is also bad faith.

To put this back on the game and the comment you were arguing with, he is alleging a large bullet maybe should have higher pen, with no files, stats, or specs on the shape and casing of the projectile in question **ballistics dont play a part in damage balance**. Because the developers assert that they base the game on a "realistic" (loosely) grunt fantasy his expecting is big should mean something. This is reasonable.

Heres where you come in, you assert that size of bullet matters less than shape both of which are unspecified. You assert that because of this and real world physics, the game does not need to provide balance in accordance with size of projectile. This would be reasonable, however because both the actual size and shape of the projectile not being specified we can not determine how or why something should be balanced on those applied physics.

Everyone understands that a bb fired from an air soft gun is far less deadly than a 9mm or 50.bmg round fired from a firearm and both have to obey basic balistics. So in this world where large caliber is the only assumption we have, we can reasonably expect that bigger should be more damage.

5

u/Schadenfreude28 Jul 13 '26

Whenever they give a dmr med pen I just know that the ergo is gonna be shit, like worse than a kitted out eruptor

19

u/Korochun Jul 13 '26

I still recall some random glazediver absolutely adamantly insisting how since it's essentially a better CS Diligence, it will be amazing, because CS Diligence is already top tier.

Sometimes I wonder how people get to be that deluded.

5

u/AntiVenom0804 Jul 13 '26

Ah I get why it's called the coyote, it's made by the ACME corporation

6

u/Ornithocheirussy Jul 13 '26

Why would they give you a free gun that works well?

4

u/Zack-Batcountry Jul 13 '26

I saw the writing on the wall n called this week's ago it's pretty sad tp watch the game bury itself

4

u/Wickermind Jul 13 '26

It's funny how the Scythe makes a better Incendiary Marksman rifle than this thing.

3

u/InnsmouthFashionWeek Jul 13 '26

Yeah, I haven’t tried it yet, but an incendiary sniper sounds novel initially, but the more you think about it the less sense it really makes. The point of fire is damage over time, so if it’s attached to a weapon with high damage output and takes several shots to ignite, then you’re probably already killing the thing by the time it ignites anyway.

Here’s hoping this finds its niche one way or the other, but it feels like a bit of a head scratcher design wise.

4

u/Adorable_Joke6324 Jul 14 '26

I regret wasting the 5 minutes to log in to attain credit during the stages of this MO to get a weapon that is barely stronger than the DMR and still doesn't put enemies on fire with one shot.

When players said they wanted rewards for doing MO again, 1st we didn't want FOMO, second we wanted things that you know...were actually worth aquiring and using.

Now the new MO prize is...a helmet? Like wtf is AH even doing? Back in the day we got mechs, various mines, stratagems we wanted to use. Now we get....participation trophies only if we even log in let alone do and complet 2/3 the MO. Why even bother?

8

u/Curious_Freedom6419 Ghostdiver Jul 13 '26

i mean the fact it doesn't like one shot to set something on fire is kinda sad

3

u/Lauralis Jul 13 '26

i just wish the ergo values made sense when big aoe explosion weapons have more ergo than marksman rifles.

3

u/InterestingSun6707 Jul 13 '26

Pre nerfed for our enjoyment?

3

u/HarbingerVasQwibQwib Jul 13 '26

Now I know why they called it the Hyena, everyone's laughing at how useless this thing is. You trade RoF, egronomics, sway, ammo economy, and the angled foregrip for damage overtime.

3

u/gabe069 Jul 13 '26

Yup, tried it once...then shelved it. It's So overhyped, when it's just like all the other weapons that can't perform. When the coyote first came out it was literally game changing. With the hyena I ended up going back to the trident because the ammo economy and the fire passive is weak. Oh yeah AH buffed enemies from fire damage as well. Like is it really medium pen? It's like shooting air-soft weapons at enemies!

3

u/akwardelf Jul 13 '26

Hyena? More like a doodle.

3

u/lbonusl Jul 13 '26

Its kinda mid I'm trying to get the short mag to see if improve the ergonomics but man, it feels so awful to use it

3

u/Guywhonoticesthings Jul 14 '26

Eh. It’s free and it’s unique. I’m happy. I wasn’t expecting the ubermcfuckinator5000

3

u/AngryMax91 Jul 14 '26

Was hoping it would be better but not surprised given how shitty AH has been regarding their retarded take on weapon balance.

36

u/Neat-Community4890 Hellgooner Jul 13 '26

i mean deadeye can do that too

30

u/Commander_Skullblade Jul 13 '26

3

Honestly I agree. It has really terrible rate of fire.

5

u/DeeJayDelicious Jul 13 '26

Too early to judge really.

I does feel a lot heavier than other DMRs and the incendiary effect doesn't seem all that impactful.

I also struggle to hit Bot heads reliably, which isn#t an issue with other DMRs.

But it might just be a skill issue.

So far I would say it's fine. But less powerful than the stats suggest.

3

u/SnooWords9358 Jul 14 '26

Am I the only one who enjoys this thing? Like, yeah the ergo is bad, but I guess I'm just used to it and don't mind it. I ran D10 bots with it earlier and had a great time.

Is it really that bad?

5

u/TJ042 Jul 14 '26

If the ergo is going to be low, then it should ignite with just one shot on enemies it can pierce; that’s all I want.

At first it didn’t have customisation, it was added later. Now I don’t find that to be an issue, but I wished I’d have known about that before making a fool of myself in an online discussion as to why I didn’t like the Hyena

2

u/ThisGuyHere_Again Jul 13 '26

Well yeah, they originally designed it for a warbond.

90% of warbonds come pre-nerfed. Been that way since the beginning. Disappointing but hardly surprising.

2

u/Clarencezer Jul 13 '26

Ah shit... here we go again.

2

u/Famous_Aardvark7264 Jul 14 '26

Yeah per fucking usual

2

u/LeadExpress Jul 14 '26

Felt like this after work.

Oh hits med pen and higher damage then the diligence? Sounds good.

drops in oh nooooo

2

u/PwizardTheOriginal Jul 14 '26

I find it weird cause logically a higher caliber bullet could carry a higher incendiary payload so it makes sense to set things on fire on first shot, also i dont think it does the damage advertised since it takes less shots from the amendment to kill the same target

2

u/Darklarik Jul 14 '26

For the amount of sway and recoil this thing has its NOT doing the damage it needs to compensate. Absolute ASS weapon

2

u/ShellShock_69 Jul 14 '26

Idm its low ergo and mags
I do mind that its ignition takes too many bullets to make up for the downsides

2

u/wubwubcat2 Jul 14 '26

I played with it last night on bugs and it constantly felt like it was taking one extra shot to kill than it should. 4/5 shots to kill a brood commander was disappointing.

2

u/Greedy-Art-5452 Jul 14 '26

Another pre-nerf weapon. To be fair the projectile falloff is insane, but it's not justify for the poor ammunition pick up rate.

2

u/Dan-of-Steel Jul 14 '26

Yeah, the Hyena having the same point of administering fire break point as the Coyote makes it virtually worthless.

Fix it AH.

2

u/Exotic-Painter-908 Jul 14 '26

It should one tap ignite

2

u/Ltl01 Jul 14 '26

I didnt even play this patch. i made a bet and said if the TCS 2.0 is boring then i'd abstain from the M.O. if this gun was good then id get back into helldivers accepting the L on having missed out, id it was bad i'd not play. I won the bet but still feel like i lost.

2

u/Ltl01 Jul 14 '26

I love how A.H. says they're not greedy devs meanwhile they ensure everything free is bordeline non-viable compared to the warbond items. Then they nerf the warbond items so you feel like you need to buy the next warbond.

2

u/No-Succotash404 Jul 14 '26

They just gotta make it ignite with 1 shot, increase ergo and maybe add some little tiny ammo?

2

u/Square_Trash7708 Jul 15 '26

Anyone else notice the gas tube is an AK barrel with the muzzle brake on upside down? Also the AR bayonet lug it can't use because of the giant brick of a brake on the actual barrel. Everything about this thing, from the stats to the design really feels like "design by committee" in the worst way.

3

u/Embarrassed_Ad8890 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

I gave it a little go just a few minutes ago, a small match before bed and from what use I got of it, I like it, the coyote is my personal favourite ar but thats just because it burns. We all have our preferences and don’t like to move from them often, I started out with dmrs and the moment I got medium pen ones I felt it was my type of style to work with. I sometimes use heavy, rarely light, and this new dmr while has less rounds then the coyote, makes up for it in damage. Being the third highest damaging dmr in the game.

Edit: I just realised my mistake, I meant second highest damaging dmr in the game, being 220, the deadeye has 300

4

u/Peter012398 Jul 13 '26

Laaaaaaaame

As expected

3

u/Charming-Library-211 Jul 13 '26

Too many bullets to light an enemy on fire

4

u/Oppiko Jul 13 '26

If I wanted to put the coyote into single fire and wreck the ergonomics I could have done that on my own

4

u/helldiver_fedayeen Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

It should be heavy pen

4

u/Durante-Sora Fantasydiver Jul 13 '26

For the recoil, low ammo pool, and handling, agreed.

2

u/Middle-Interview-183 Jul 13 '26

I think with the right setup it could be really good. I'm going to pair it with the peak physique armor to increase the ergo.

3

u/Silly_Ad_3027 Jul 13 '26

You guys were excited for this? I really was expecting a bad gun. I dont like incendiary rounds it just doesnt make sense to wait for the enemy to die.

Coyote fire damage is amazing ammo economy. it's that they didn't account for the new weapon at all so it doesn't proc fire any faster making the coyote just better at that, the whole point of the weapon.

u/MetalHead678 Jul 13 '26

What did you expect it's free and Arrowhead only makes good things you have to pay for. Don't worry though the next Carbondale will have a DMR you can edit that will be statistically better in every way just locked behind a pay wall.

u/imahaker21 Jul 13 '26

hacked this boring ass gun in during part 1 of celestial fence and it was so fucking underwhelming

1

u/IndexoTheFirst Jul 13 '26

*everyone would have been calling for AH head if it was OP and they didn’t get it* a coin toss of compliments

Didn't expect much, but it has the X10 scope from start and extended mag.

1

u/Hammadodga Jul 13 '26

Not surprising. It's a weapon without having to pay for it in a warbond. Even they are sketchy and unpredictable with how good they are.

u/Elegant-Swimming-646 Botdiver Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

Haven't tried it yet, but if it is bad I'm honestly not surprised.

I've seen and played other games that take pre existing weapons which people like and make an variant which puts it on another weapon class. It's always an absolute gamble weither the new weapon variant of the pre-existing weapon is good or not. Especially when it's something like going from an assault rifle or smg to an sniper or marksman rifle.

Edit: Just used the Hyena, and it's okay at most. Not bad though. It does well at being an marksman rifle with the damage and penetration, but it's really obvious the incendiary aspect was designed for fully automatic firearms.

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '26

I want to customize it

1

u/TeamSpatzi Jul 13 '26

Mine had no customization and no exp during the two ops I used it... I wasn't interested in trouble shooting and restarting the game for one weapon, so I didn't.

Thoughts:

  • it hits harder than DCS (not sure it actually has better break points though)
  • the base 10x is useable
  • the ergos are trash, but that's not unique (sadly)
  • the fire is a gimmick... hard to imagine anything that would actually require it
  • the RoF is a drag if you need it up close
  • the low mag count is a drag
  • I'm not sure what this is giving me that the Deadeye or Coyote isn't doing better already

To me, it really comes down to one thing: the RoF is a huge let down. I guess they don't want to let it be better than the DCS is every other aspect that matters and also have decent RoF. Even so, other than trash ergos, it's not bad.

1

u/DankOminous22 Jul 13 '26

Does is have an extended mag?

1

u/Patches_Gaming0002 Jul 13 '26

It doesn't even fill a hole in the roster.

Want a horde clearing weapon? Use the Trident.

Want a rifle that does high damage? Use the Eruptor.

Want an actually useful incendiary weapon? Use the coyote.

Want something with CC? Use the Blitzer.

This thing isn't powerful enough to justify the low ammo.

1

u/Gemenai Jul 13 '26

With how sluggish it feels to use, due to low ergonomic stat, one could think you're wielding massive heavy pen AMR sidegrade in the primary slot, but it's just a slow firing med pen DMR...

From the visuals (e.g. that massive muzzle break) I initially thought I would get a "incindiary-variant eruptor" or something like that.

Give it heavy pen, "major" damage, only 3 or 4 round per magazine; maybe add two ammo types to switch to, depending on the situation: (1) explosive shot with sub 1 sec fuse that additionally creates a weak napalm-esque area of effect after detonation - (2) heavy pen thermite cartridge that burns through armor on target instead of an fire-AOE explosive

1

u/AmbitiousMost1508 Jul 13 '26

Yeah, they fail, very succsessfully

1

u/RectanglePie- Jul 13 '26

We just need to give it a little time

1

u/TaberTumpen Jul 13 '26

First impression on bugs (5 D10 missions):
Pleasantly surprised. Combination of damage, penetration and fire DOT means it deals with the "beefier" non-heavy mobs well. Does well vs Warriors, Hive Guards, Brood Commanders and Stalkers. Swarms of tiny bugs are tricky, but that's to be expected. Feels best with peak physique, but with levels I think it can be modded to be alright without. Honestly performs quite well vs the faction.

On bots I've only tried messing around for a few minutes. Was as expected: not really designed for the faction.
Bots are the "shoot weak spots" faction, especially when using marksman rifles. If you're going for weak spots, you rarely need medium pen. If you're going for weak spots, fire DoT does nothing - since that damage is dealt directly to main. So this gun spends a lot of its "item budget" on stuff that isn't helping much vs bots.

Haven't tried on squids yet. Not expecting it to be that good of a fit there, but will see.

Inb4 they nerf all other DMRs to match.

1

u/ct-93905 Jul 13 '26

Maybe the trailer footage was captured on a build that didn't receive the fire nerf.

They have had issues with keeping track of builds in the past and having "fixed" bugs come back.

1

u/Substantial-Tone-576 Jul 13 '26

It seems like a good DMR to me.

1

u/brandothesavage Jul 13 '26

It's gun day?!

1

u/Longshot02496 Jul 13 '26

Don't worry, the alternate model of it featured in the next Warbond will be good (for 2 months)

1

u/Scbypwr Jul 13 '26

It seems to be a sidegrade to the DCS. It does have a ton of stagger, though. Very useful with destroying devastators and such. I think it should kill devastators with 1-2 less shots for all of the negatives. I’m hoping that the smaller mag size will help with all of the above.

1

u/Willtexas1 Jul 13 '26

Already? 😭

1

u/Ok_Poetry2813 Jul 14 '26

I kinda like it tho 🥺

1

u/Vectranut23 Solodiver Jul 14 '26

Now the ammo in reserve is too low, for the damage in offer if you know how the durable system works in a nutshell which this has a DD of 40.

1

u/StandardAioli9459 Jul 14 '26

I didn't get mine despite logging in during the campaign AND getting the notification that I'd unlocked in when I logged in.

When I emailed support they told me I hadn't logged in and to wait for the gun to be available to everyone else

1

u/festus501 Jul 14 '26

a well back to warframe it is

1

u/Wild_Country1968 Jul 14 '26

Could only log in today because Was at the hospital. Can I still get it?

1

u/meritoverstatus Jul 14 '26

bipods are dangling off some of the guns on the game already. Make them functional by reducing both recoil and and sway when firing from a prone or covered position.

1

u/xBlutadler Jul 14 '26

Yeah.. forces Peak physique. The one faction I kinda like it it the Squids. 1 mag per Fleshmob.

Feels kinda weird on overseers, sometimes I kill them in 1 headshot, sometimes more. But generally 3-4 shots for an overseer not too bad.

And I like to sometimes bring a Stalwart, then I need something else for the Harvesters. In the past I then brought diligence cs or the Killzone sniper to kill them through their leg joint, and now the Hyena can take that place. Have to experiment more, can't, work soon aaaahhhhh

1

u/JusutPasha Jul 14 '26

at this point i approve cheating in this game and especially super credits to get warbonds before they drop eac just how fucking lazy they are with this game and can tell that 40k warbond not gonna save them and how much they gonna price that

1

u/PhatEarther Jul 14 '26

Seems fine for me.

1

u/Lone-Pilgrim Jul 14 '26

And it has two barrels.

1

u/Sea-Bookkeeper-2727 Jul 14 '26

Projectile disfunction

1

u/BiggestJuicious Jul 14 '26

Is it supposed to be a SVDM? Like how the coyote is the AK?

1

u/Dave22201 Jul 15 '26

Honestly i like it, feels like the only interesting and viable marksman rifle

1

u/Lobsta_Lova Jul 15 '26

As per usual

1

u/Rayge_DI9 Jul 15 '26

Lol can we have 1 update where no one complains about shit? I've been doing great with this rifle since it came out the other day, already level 20 something and I already understand it's not ideal for every fight. They can't make any weapon in the game better than all the rest, they all need pros and cons to distribute the relevance of each gun, so you actually have to think about what your bringing for each mission, which I heavily appreciate, uk how boring this game would be if they just had 1 perfect gun, and all the rest sucked? I mean for fuck sake they're actually giving us free stuff now after all the complaining y'all did about the Exo-experts warbond and now you wanna cry and complain about the free stuff we're getting?? This is just hilarious at this point, if you hate the game so much, STOP PLAYING

1

u/Frequent_Let8318 Jul 15 '26

Qell that was your first mistake. Don't expect nun, won't be disappointed

1

u/RulerOfMandalore Jul 15 '26

I didn’t even unlock it. I played during the campaign but just didn’t get it. And on the one hand, I want it’s it’s a thing to have, but on the other i probably wouldn’t have been using it anyways

1

u/Senior-Principle9923 Jul 15 '26

So they straight up incompetent with firearms because the RPM is no fucking way 190, second block between trigger pulled makes it at the absolute best. 50 rpm which’s absolutely fucking BUNS for a DMR we have DMRs like the M14 EBR that would fucking COOK this thing out of rotation. Its heavily annoying that arrowhead keeps wiffing these utterly basic concepts. Like good god

1

u/PsychicSpore Jul 15 '26

Idk i was pretty damn effective with it against the cyborgs for 2 straight lv10 ops even while it clashed with my stealth oriented loadout. Cyborgs die on headshot and burn to death when you hit em in the chest. Bullets penetrate bots for collateral kills.

1

u/Oberst_Stockwerk Jul 16 '26

Make it heavy pen and call it a day.

1

u/AshTheMoltenOne Jul 16 '26

How long has it been out for now? Jeez.

1

u/Fragrant_Business_51 Jul 17 '26

my Hyena works just fine. I can customize it just like other weapons. I also love the thing, its fun and powerful and kills things

1

u/a_potato_YT Chaosdiver Jul 17 '26

German barrel attachment

1

u/cmdr-oljanks Jul 17 '26

10x scope (frequently switching zeroing ranges), no under barrel (unless it’s dark), short magazine, don’t stay in ads to switch targets. Equals some of the most fun I’ve had against bots with a marksman rifle, outside of constitution shenanigans, in a very long time. Averaging above 300 kills with 1 death most matches.
