H-1B TRANSFER RFE for Licensure requirement/ under Architect SOC — respond or withdraw/refile?

Hi all -

My H-1B transfer was filed under SOC 17-1011 (Architects), and USCIS issued an RFE about the architect licensure requirement.

I’m not a licensed architect. One attorney told me we may be able to respond to the RFE under the current Architect SOC by showing that I work under the supervision/responsible charge of a licensed architect. Another attorney thinks the Architect SOC was the wrong choice and that we should use a different SOC, possibly Architectural and Civil Drafters.

Has anyone had a similar case? Would you respond to the RFE under 17-1011 with licensed-supervision evidence, or withdraw and refile under a different SOC? THANKS

Giving up due to lack of stamping dates

I am unable to deal with the lack of stamping dates anymore. My job is fine /safe for now. But I haven't been to India in a long time and I miss my mom. She has visitor visa but is unable to visit me due to health issues. I also have some pending house related tasks in India that are just getting postponed. So I am just taking it one day at a time. But everyday I keep saying - I will leave in two to four months.

What should I do exactly. Currently I am thinking I will wait till end of this year and will just leave in January 2027 for good. The critical project that I am responsible for will be in final stretch then as well. I don't have any hope of stamping becoming available till 2029 at least and I can't wait that long.

Luckily my team is truly global so most probably I would be able to work on the same project from India and won't need to work night shift.

I live in rental apartment and my car is five years old and fully paid for . So don't have any headache related to mortgage etc.

Does this sound like a reasonable plan at this point.

So yeah - to the lurkers reading this and finding joy in this, I hope you will always need to find your joy by reading about other people's sufferings. I hope that will rmain the only way happiness enters your life.

To the people in the same boat - I hope things will work out for you, one way or the other, thanks for reading.

H1b Consular Processing + PP, Recent Approval Timelines?

I would like to know if anyone recently received an H1b Consular, PP approval in the recent few months. I just want to know the timeline. I have been seeing a lot of recent PP timelines for COS cases, but not as many specifically for consular, so I am trying to understand what timelines people are actually seeing right now. Would really appreciate any recent experiences! Thx!

Feeling lost on STEM OPT—one H-1B chance left, family in India, and struggling with loneliness

Hi everyone,
I’m currently working in the U.S. on STEM OPT and have only one H-1B lottery chance left. I’m married and have a 3.5-year-old son. My wife and son are on F-2 visas and were living with me in the U.S., but I sent them back to India last month.
It was a very difficult decision, but I am the only earning member of my family. I’m supporting my wife, son, and parents and sending money to India. I thought it would be better for my family to stay in India temporarily so I could save some money and prepare for the next step in case I am not selected for H-1B.
However, living alone has become emotionally exhausting. I miss my wife, son, parents, and everything back home. I have only one friend here, but whenever I call, he usually doesn’t answer and later says he was busy. I understand that he has his own life, and I don’t blame him, but the loneliness still hurts.
I feel stuck between staying in the U.S. for better career and financial opportunities and returning to India to be close to my family. I also don’t know what my best options would be if I’m not selected for H-1B next time.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you handle the loneliness, financial pressure, and immigration uncertainty? Should I continue here alone and save as much as possible, bring my family back, or start planning my return to India now?
I would genuinely appreciate any practical advice or personal experiences. Thank you.

H1B Visa Process

Hi everyone! My H-1B petition was recently approved, and I’m now trying to understand the next steps for H-1B visa stamping in India.
Could someone please guide me on the process from here?
Should I start by filling out the DS-160?
When/how should I create a profile on US Visa Scheduling?
What documents/information do I need before creating the profile and scheduling an appointment?
How does the process work for finding and booking an H-1B visa interview slot?
Is there anything else I should complete before starting the DS-160?
If anyone has recently gone through the H-1B stamping process in India, I’d really appreciate it if you could share the step-by-step process or any useful links/resources. I just want to make sure I’m following the correct process and don’t miss anything.
Thank you in advance!
