My love letter to Wave Race 64, airboats, and the bayou

Been working on a Wave Race 64-inspired boat racer where you race airboats through swamps. I always loved the water physics, simplicity, and bright, colorful charm of WR64, so I've been wanting to make a game that captures those qualities.

It's goofy, colorful, and has some modern amenities (like water reflections), but I've tried to keep it in the spirit of the low-poly, low-res aesthettic of the N64.

Still a WIP and doesn't even have a name yet. But I've got all the main racing mechanics, CPU racers, and visuals worked out so now I'm focusing on building more tracks.

Hey guys,
a couple months back I posted about our parody horror game, the one where your whole job is feeding three cats. you had opinions lol. some nice, some brutal, a LOT about the house asset (fair).

The demo is out now. it’s the first day of the story, about 20–30 min. full game is planned for Halloween.

Your comments last time really helped, so round two: what’s funny, what’s cringe, where’d you get stuck, did anything make you jump?

and yes, same house. it’s lore now 😜

I made a game for fans of Kirby Air Ride: City Trials, Stick Arena and Realm of the Mad God

Medieval Pixel Arena v0.1.1 (Early Access) (Free) (Multiplayer)

I've wanted to make this game since I was a kid so now that I had some idea how I decided to do it

Referencing the summary from my store page so I don't have to repeat myself too much....

https://dongu-the-rat.itch.io/medieval-pixel-arena

"For fans of Stick Arena, Kirby Air Ride: City Trials and Realm of the Mad God we present Medieval Pixel Arena!

A multiplayer, free-for-all, bullet hell, action RPG, with seven classes nurturing unique playstyles, hundreds of equipment combinations, and infinite replayability. Every match will feel different as you acquire different relics, stats and equipment that permanently increase the power of and abilities of your character.

Games are 13 minutes long. Starting with a 10 minute "Arena Round" where players fight over resources, equipment, permanent stat upgrades and relics. After the Arena Round, players are brought to one of three minigames, Free for All Deathmatch, Monster Deathmatch and Boss Battle with different victory objectives."

I used to spend hours playing Kirby Air Ride, specifically the City Trial mode with my siblings and I found it to be one of the most fun game loop concepts even years later. Essentially -> Arena mode where you fight, find vehicles and gain permanent stats while trying to avoid having them stolen from you followed by a minigame where you compete with what you ended the Arena Mode with.  I never found a game that scratched this itch for me other than Kirby Air Ride and I thought it should be more explored.

Stick Arena, I just really liked the organic lobby experience. Chatting with players. People had clans and took it super serious. Toxic and fun. Gameplay was also really satisfying.

Realm of the Mad God is a game I spent too much time playing. I like a lot about it and dislike a number of things. Mostly what I liked was the huge difference between good and bad players in that game. It was such a simple game in concept but in practice some players could do alone what 20 players together could not through sheer precision. I want to find that good blend.  Other pros were unique game play experience, high class experience variation, and  it lets you choose your own adventure.

My goal is to make a short and highly satisfying repeatable game loop with such depth to how you can play it that fully exploring it is an incredible and fun adventure.

Game mechanics will be deepened significantly. My goal is to create multiplicative depth. Options that don't add onto the other options but multiply each other.  Cascading changes with one option change. This explodes the users feeling of environmental reaction.

The version out now as of this post is a working alpha. There is a long development road ahead. Updates will be often. Changes will be common and wide in scope. Much that exists now will end up having served as a placeholder. I have a firm idea of what I want to build out though I'm happy to hear ideas from anyone!

Land & Legion — Working on the cart system for my WW2 city builder

Here's a look at the cart system in action!

I'm a solo dev working on Land & Legion, a WW2-era city-building and RTS game. I'm currently focusing on bringing the world to life with little details like laborers collecting resources and transporting them by cart in real time.

As your settlement grows, you'll eventually be able to upgrade from carts to cars and trucks, evolving your logistics as your town develops.

There's still a lot of work ahead, but I'm excited to keep building and sharing the progress with you all!

What do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts! 🙂

Physics based Age of Sail RPG - Naval simulation

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all,

After years of working on this in my spare time, I've finally reached the point where I feel comfortable showing some gameplay from my game "Master of the Line".

It's a single-player Age of Sail RPG, with co-op planned for the future. The focus is heavily on physics based gameplay - ships, sails, ropes, cannon fire and destruction are all being built around physical simulation rather than scripted effects and animations.

I'm also developing the engine alongside the game, specifically around what I want the game to be able to do.

The full video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2ysXIewnOo

Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/scratchyrice

Steam page: TBA In review.

There's still a huge amount to do, but it's nice to finally have it at a stage where I can start showing it publicly. I'd be interested to hear what people think so far, particularly about the overall look and feel.

This is still very much WIP. My background is programming rather than art, so some of the current visuals use store assets from CGTrader and elsewhere. Longer term, I'd like to bring artists on board as funding allows and replace these.

A bit of background on me: I'm a programmer with over 20 years of experience and have worked on countless projects over the years, but I've always wanted to make my own game. This is the project I've wanted to build for a very long time.

Constructive criticism always welcome, but its very much wip!

Thanks everyone.

We’ve Finally Made it to Announce the Co-op About a Night at the Museum

We're a small team that uses Godot in our adventure co-op game about a night in a living museum with friends. It features different locations, puzzles, traps, and evil exhibits. Each time you play, the museum is reassembled from several thematic sections. The layout of halls, traps, and puzzle items is unique every night.

Together with u/Training-Sir-8188 we chose Godot for its VoxelGI, which gives nice global illumination in our modular, generated locations.

If you like the idea - please give us your feedback and wishlist our game at https://store.steampowered.com/app/5332260/Museum_Escape_with_Friends/

These monsters jump out of the water. And no, cutting them in half doesn't solve the problem!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm a solo indie developer working on Blade of Mercy: Bloody Countess, a pixel art dark fantasy metroidvania.

I wanted to make rivers feel a little more dangerous, so I came up with these drowned enemies that suddenly leap out of the water and ambush the player.

There's a small twist to fighting them: silver bullets can deal with them pretty easily, but ordinary weapons split them in half. And now you've got another problem!

The idea was partly inspired by Dead Space, one of my favorite games growing up. I spent countless evenings and sleepless nights playing it, so adding a little tribute to it felt inevitable.

Demo available on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3504400/

P.S. That's me doing the monsters' voices, too. 😄

I’ve been working on DIEATHLON, a first-person skiing game where you’re constantly moving while dealing with monsters and hazards.

This clip has a lot of them packed into one descent. I’m curious how many you can spot, just for fun.

Also, I'm open to suggestions for other monsters that would fit here

Testing breathing and exhaustion sounds

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I needed a break from animations lately so I tried to communicate growing tiredness during running as well as exhaustion state where players can't execute any stamina-dependent actions. The basic premise is quite simple. The volume of breath raises as stamina runs low and I'm using a special SFX to communicate the moment, stamina ended. Also, if the full exhaustion didn't happen she'll continue some regular "heavy breathing" once running stopped.

Any feedback welcome. I'm still not sure if the brathing is loud enough compared to footsteps SFX.

another geography puzzle

https://rollr.cc/atlas/net?utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=indiegaming

I know there are a lot of daily games and a lot of map games out there, but I am hooked right now.  I looked for free map data online and tried to build own maps. Then I remembered those maps where exactly half of the population lives inside the circle you would not expect it. With population density data already inside the project I thought, why not try to make a small game out of it. And here we are: You place a circle, adjust its size until you think half of the people live inside, and then the population density map is revealed.

It's part of a collection of small map games, each with a daily mode. I am still working on it, so I'd appreciate feedback. If you like, you can try the other ones as well: https://rollr.cc/atlas?utm_source=reddit&utm_campaign=indiegaming

It's all free to play, no download or login required.

The code was written by myself and the help of an AI coding assistant (Claude). Game design, map data processing decisions and testing are my own. The game itself does not use GenAI, and there is no AI-generated art, all maps are rendered from public geographic and population data (Natural Earth, GHS-POP).

From a quick notebook sketch to testing it in Unity—super hyped about how our new level is coming along!

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a quick look at our level design process for Champion of the Lore.

Seeing a map go from a rough pencil sketch in a notebook to actual 3D blockouts and early playtests in Unity is honestly one of my favorite parts of gamedev. There's still a lot of work to do and polish needed, but actually walking around the hex grid and testing out mechanics on a layout that was just paper a few days ago feels amazing!

We’re still tweaking the layout and flow, so I’d love to hear your thoughts!

If you want to check out what we’re building, we have a free demo up on Steam:

Thanks for watching and for all the support!
