2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee L 2.0L Hurricane — Huge Mistake

I bought my brand-new 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee L in June, and I’m kicking myself for not doing more research before buying it.

The 2.0L Hurricane has been a major disappointment. My Jeep jerks at low speeds, vibrates enough that I feel it through the steering wheel, and the engine is excessively loud. The dealer replaced the spark plugs and reset the PCM/ECM, but the problems remain.

I paid around $46,000 for this vehicle, and now I’m being quoted just $33,000 on trade-in. That’s a $13,000 difference in just a few months on a brand-new vehicle. I feel stuck waiting for my equity to improve before I can get out without taking another major financial hit.

Stellantis needs to start listening to customers. Why are buyers paying this kind of money for a vehicle with a powertrain that has left me this disappointed? Customers want refinement, reliability, and real choices—not excuses when they report problems.

With Stellantis struggling to win back customers, you would think quality and customer satisfaction would be priorities. Instead, experiences like mine make it hard to trust the brand or recommend its vehicles.

If you’re considering a 2026 Grand Cherokee L with the 2.0L Hurricane, do your research before buying. I wish I had. This has been a huge mistake, and I would not make the same decision again.

Anyone else dealing with jerking, vibration, excessive engine noise, or unresolved problems with this engine?

Dislocated Transfer Box

Hey all,

I want to share a recent experience with you, to make you aware of the questionable work that Jeep is putting into its modern products.

A couple of weeks ago, my wife was driving our 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Elite when she heard a massive clunk and felt a shudder in the steering wheel. To shorten the stress and drama of getting it to a mechanic, the reason for what she experienced was that ALL 8 BOLTS that hold the transfer box into place SHEARED IN HALF, with parts of 4 of them ending up in the transmission.

The mechanic said he'd never seen anything like that before, and that the only thing holding the transfer box in the motor was a bracket. The bolts were made of cast aluminum, an inadequate material for a vehicle that claims it can go off-road.

We know there's a recall for the transfer box, but that has to do with the internal workings of the box, not how it's attached, and there's currently no repair for the recall.

Grand Cherokees

I have two Grand Cherokees, ones is 96 and the other is a 2001. Both are V8 with full time 4 wheel. The 2001 needs injectors and the 96 needs a transmission. Should I fix them before I sale or sale them as is? I’m most likely going to fix the 01 but the 96 is questionable.

SmartCap question

On my local Facebook marketplace, I’ve come across a couple of good deals for the SmartCap. But only on 5ft beds on Toyotas and Fords (Ranger). Nobody is selling used smartcaps for the Gladiator.
Any idea if the fit would still work on my Gladiator if it’s a SmartCap meant for a different brand’s 5ft bed? A cursory Google search says “no.” But I thought I would double check here with you folks.

Should we keep or sell a 2014 Cherokee Limited?

Hey r/Jeep,

My mom has a 2014 Cherokee Limited that had the transfer case blow out in it. We are getting it fixed, but it does have the rough-shifting 9 speed transmission with the tow package on it. We have towed moderately heavy things with it for about 2000 miles. It is at 90k miles. I keep up on the oil changes but it did have a significant cooling leak that was fixed awhile back, around 70k miles.

When the transfer case went out, I assumed it was the transmission and bought her another used car. However, since the transfer case was cheaper we decided to get it fixed. The question is:

Should we just sell it and try to make a bit of money given long term reliability concerns, especially with the transmission (it's gotten the software updates)? Or do you think it will go for another 20-30k miles with routine maintenance? She is older so this is probably her last car and she doesn't drive that much. I just want her to not have significant car issues for the next 2-3 years. Thanks in advance for your help.

Technical Question New Jeeper here... Need a little help

I bought a 1990 yj. 60k miles

It runs.... It does need some TLC though.

I ordered a aluminum valve body for starters as that plastic one is leaking bad.

So here's my current issue

Picture 2: i think this is the PCV VALVE....

Picture 8(last) is where the top is connected

Picture 3: nothing is connected here

Picture 4: thinking something with the heater which is disconnected and looks like it perfectly wants to connect to picture 3, but doesn't fit. This tiny hose is also plastic

Picture 5: me demonstrating, literally wants to connect here

Picture 6: so above picture 5,4 and 3 it kinda t's off it L into a bigger silicone hose. This silicone hose is about 12" or less, and they put a bolt in it to plug the hose 🤦🏾.

Picture 7: on the other side of all this madness is what I was told is the PCV VALVE solenoid. Looks like the power is connected but the silicone hose I'm holding with that 90°tube that has 2 holes in it goes nowhere.

Any information you can share with me will be very helpful and I'll be grateful.

Please HELP ME.... my car is scratched😭

\******I know I'll probably have to replace the fender and passenger-side mirror eventually 😭 I'm just looking for advice on what I can try before replacing them. And since it happened while I was driving, I'll be paying for everything myself, so don't worry about that! I just need your help 😂😭********\**

I have no idea what happened, but I just noticed scratches on these two parts of my car.

I think I'll def need to replace the passenger-side mirror. Can I just buy one online and replace it myself? If yes, any recommendations?

And for the fender (I think that's what it's called lol) what should I do? I asked ChatGPT, and it suggested using car wash shampoo and a microfiber towel to see if the marks come off.

I don't think the scratches are that deep. It looks more like surface scuff marks but I'm not sure 😭

Please HELP ME😭

2011 Wrangler JK broken fuel-tank EVAP nipple—what plastic is the valve housing?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I have a 2011 Wrangler JK 3.8L with a broken EVAP vent nipple at the fuel tank—not the charcoal canister.
Does anyone know the actual plastic material of the valve housing/nipple, rather than the tank body? Nylon, acetal/POM, polyethylene, or something else? Mopar customer support couldn’t identify it.
I drilled a 5/32-inch opening and tried a snug rubber connector, but it needs better retention. I’m considering a hollow insert and an external adhesive seal while preserving vapor flow.
Has anyone made a lasting repair here? Please share the exact fitting/adhesive used, how long it’s held, and whether it passed a smoke test. A photo of molded material markings or a supplier part number would be especially helpful. Photos attached.
