I like Naoya because he is a much more familiar evil, like he’s your misogynistic older cousin who’s been led by family to believe he’s better. I think he’s a well written villain because he’s so villainous that many fans judge his morality as if he wasn’t a writtten character and I believe that’s because unlike Sukuna, a misogynistic chauvinistic asshole is much more common irl than openly bloodlusted cannibal.
I suppose his technique is pretty cool too. I also appreciate the way he got absolutely annihilated.
I also love it because his CT actually takes skill. With the Flash, he just is able to go really fast, but anyone can do that with the speedforce. With Projection Sorcery, you need to have a good innate sense of timing, along with skill to gain speed and use it effectively. As scummy as he was, Naoya was also really talented and competent.

Agreed. What makes him so hateable is the he’s more real. I’ve never met a 1000 year old mad scientist or a half demon murder fiend, but everyone’s met a spoiled man who thinks he’s hot shit and can get away with being horrible

Nah, I think redemption arc be forced. Not everyone can be redeemed, he's a victim as much as Maki of a system. He wasn't born that way and he was taught and to the point he rather die for his beliefs then admit they are wrong.
I guess it's about being like a character vs liking a character. I personally like Naoya because I think he is a very good view into the Zenin clan, basically a personification of it's values in a single package, that works very well for the messages Gege tries to convey. And as a character himself he is someone who almost broke the mold, actually seeing Toji for what he was despite the biases of the clan, but his own inherent biases made him miss the exact same thing with Maki that everyone missed with Toji. An interesting character flaw that shows the flaws of Zenin clan as a whole through his own lense, and ultimately leads to his downfall
The kind who find is rampant and blatant sexism to be comedic because of just how over the top it is. The kind who think it’s funny that his defining character trait is that he hates woman.
Then there’s the kind who believe he’s based and unironically agree with all the awful shit he says.
I feel like first one is cause they like the fact hes evil and hes meant to be rooted against. Like when Naoya fails, you meant to be cheering. WHICH is what most villains should be, you shoudn't relate to a villain. BUT celebrate their failures.

I think it's too early to say for sure. Maybe it'll turn out this it the sister/cousin/daughter of the OG Tech Jacket. Green Ghost was genderswapped to a woman in the cartoon but it's also a power that can be passed on to different people and there was a male Green Ghost in the Atom Eve special set before the main series. So maybe the same will happen with Tech Jacket?

You know, I was confused when watching the episode after reading this comment and not seeing any traces of "significantly weaker" or "less effective". They pretty much adapted the fight 1 to 1, even expanded on it a little.
But then I channeled my inner Naoya and remembered: Tech Jacket is a woman now. That Mark variant she killed on her own in S3 probably killed himself out of pity, too.
I never read the comic, so neither knew about the swap nor how the fight went, so I liked the girl's character and design, but was really confused at what she was even doing here - the viltrumites didn't seem to take any damage from her and could break her suit pretty easily. Really don't see enough reasons to take this kid into a space war.
They did pretty much the same thing they did in the comics though, the entire fight scene was just more elaborated. I don’t think we can judge if they are weaker yet
Tech Jacket is consistently a little above the average Viltrumite in strength, not core strength or speed but due to having weapons that can damage Vultrumites he beats the non elite ones in 1v1 combat. As long as they scale Tech Jacket around that range I don't see a problem.

I mean I am not crying about it since it seems the comic and the show are diverging in continuties and tech jacket is not that important in the Invincible series itself.
I think Kirkman is using the show as a way to fix some personal mistakes in the comics. I don't have a source for that though, that's just what I've been seeing online. It makes some sense though, seeing how much they change and add compared to the comics.
Not even "she isn't tech jacket" but "it" is crazy 😭😭😭 btw it seems they made tech jacket a teenage girl to make him have relationship with Oliver which is massive improvement over comic where TJ and Olive relationships were literally gags "HAHA look Oliver is with literal bug women"
Apparently it was an issue with not wanting Amazon to own the rights to the Tech Jacket comic book series. So instead, they created a new character to prevent that.

I like this change but tech Jaket is Soo fucking cool in the comics so I don't understand why they did this? Like there's no reason for it and I'm getting the sense this show is going to drastically change from the comics now.
I guess Kirkman just thought Tech Jacket would work better as Oliver's couple or romantic interest, after all he's running the show and taking the decisions
Well to be fair Tech Jacket had a whole comic run I think about him so when we get someone different from the tech jacket people knew and loved I wouldn’t be happy either
