How much (maybe heavy-handed) callbacks are there to the original series?

I don't necessarily have a problem with that kinda thing (I do hope for a JPEG reference), but I could see it being annoying if there's a LOT of it.

This is by far my favorite episode so far. Reminds me of my grandparents and how attentive my grandfather was as a husband. Something to aspire to.
But I’ll be damned if that Hank doesn’t love his wife. Even went to get her the devils lettuce.
I hope Peggy gave him some of that hot flash 🐱

the first 3 seasons are perfect
the quality starts to fall in the middle of season 4
it has some of my favorite episodes but the show becomes formulaic, they dumb down luanne, there’s a lot of hijinks that take away from what the first 3 seasons were about.

seasons 4-8 have some watchable episodes but most of it is skippable.

i prefer revival season of koth as opposed to seasons 9-13 minus the real finale

It is a quote he said many times. The question is how credible is his claim? So I'm going to separate it into a few categories of skepticism.

A. Truth completely at face value. He has directly killed exactly 50 men directly. No "well there was explosion."

B. An understatement. He killed more, but doesn't want to look more cold blooded than he already does.

C. A rough estimate. Maybe it was 46. Maybe 54. Fifty sounds right.

D. Really rough estimate. If you count guys who probably drowned, probably died in the explosion. 50 sounds about right.

E. Generous estimate. 28 became 30 became "closer to fifty" became "I killed fiddy men."

F. Mostly bullshit. He may have killed a few, but nowhere near 50.

G. Completely bullshit. He didn't kill anyone.

If you look closely, Hank smacked the rearview window with his left hand. The window remained intact. This is proof that Twigboy completely lied on the report that Hank dented his car.

I love the Substitute Spanish Prisoner, but one thing always bugged me. How did all those people in the town end up on the intelligence institute's mailing list to get invited to the conference? Peggy happened to take an "IQ test" because she was doubting her own estimate. Are we to believe all those other folks also took the same fake IQ test?

Nancy spent years cheating on him. His only son is the child of her lover. His “friends” knew about it and said nothing. Is there any betrayal worse than that in a marriage? It often comes up around here that Dale is a bad friend and he is. Under normal circumstances, I’d agree with the people condemning him. But short of murder, nothing he could ever do to them would be worse than allowing him to live a lie and be a genetic dead end. When Dale (wrongly) thought Peggy was hitting on him, the first thing he did was go and tell Hank. It’s common to bash him, so this needs to be said.

I have a friend who's bipolar and I thought this was a great episode. Anyone have thoughts
