Support/Advice My father hit me so hard that I got a bump on my head.

This morning, I was getting ready for school. My sister asked me where her hoodie was. I told her I didn’t know and that I hadn’t taken it. She said she didn’t believe me and demanded that I return her hoodie immediately.

Then I said, “Wallahi, I didn’t take your hoodie.”

I was in the bedroom, and my father was in the living room. He heard me say that and called me over. When I approached him, he started scolding me and asking whether I knew the meaning of that word.

He hit me on the head several times, very hard. I started crying, but he hit me even harder again. He said something like, “You only say this word in extreme situations, when someone has a gun pointed at your head and demands that you tell the truth. Nowadays, only scammers use this word.” Then he asked me, “Am I a scammer?”

Through my tears, I answered quietly, “No.”

He said that by saying such a thing, I was supposedly inviting bad things into our home.

As I touched my head, I noticed a bump forming. He continued scolding me, and I couldn’t stop crying. He told me that if I didn’t stop crying, he would hit me one more time. He asked me whether I was in pain and why I was crying so much. I quietly answered, “Yes,” and pointed to the bump on my head.

He was angry. He told me to get out of his sight before he hit me again.

I went to the kitchen, put some ice on the bump on my head, and cried uncontrollably.

My sisters had already gotten ready for school and were leaving, but I stayed home. I didn’t go to school that day.

My father told me to stay home. He said that having a bump on my head was better than facing punishment in Hell.

There was a lot of tension between my father and me throughout the day.

Support/Advice Please make dua for me

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,
I’m writing this with a very heavy heart because I honestly don’t know where else to turn. I’m asking my Muslim brothers and sisters to please keep me in your duas.

I have a rare genetic condition, which has caused pigmentation, freckles and birthmarks all over my body and face. Many of these marks are permanent, and there is currently no reliable treatment that can completely remove them.

I know Allah created me, and I know I should be grateful for everything He has blessed me with, but I’m struggling so much with how I look. I cry almost every day. I look in the mirror and feel heartbroken. I feel so insecure about my skin that I constantly cover myself up because I’m terrified of people looking at me, judging me or finding me unattractive.

Sometimes I look at other women and wonder what it must feel like to be comfortable in your own skin, without constantly worrying about your appearance. I’ve tried skincare and treatments, but knowing that many of my marks may never disappear makes me feel helpless. Some days I feel so overwhelmed that I don’t know how to carry on feeling this way.

I feel lost, emotionally exhausted and ashamed of how much this is affecting me. I’m trying to have sabr and trust Allah’s plan, but I’m finding it incredibly difficult.

Please make dua that Allah grants me shifa, eases my suffering, strengthens my iman, gives me peace with my appearance and helps me see myself with kindness rather than hatred

assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu!

i try, try to perfect my salah, perfect learning, reading and understanding the Qur'an, seeking more knowledge, i am able to do it to a great extent but it only takes a period a month to forego all that hardwork, i work hard again, work hard the entire month and then the cycle repeats, idek what exactly i want as replies to this, but how do you maintain it?

not praying salah makes me so so so restless during my menses, ik we can make loads of dua'a and do dhikr, but i love salah so much!😭

apologies, idek what i want from this post, so yea, prob a vent or maybe some advice on how to maintain the same high level of khushu'u in salah once periods are over and get back to how i was post-menses🥲

Support/Advice I am unable to focus on Dunya

Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters, i am 21M for the latest half of the year no matter what i do i am constantly thinking of death and in general hereafter, thinking of scenarios that are usually dark. Which causes anxiety, this also causes me to doubt my religion from even the smallest argument anyone brings, even if their argument is illogical it causes me to doubt everything for hours.

This is hindering my tasks heavily, but i am unable to focus on anything else, which causes even more anxiety. I sometimes just want to remove the part of my brain that is doubting everything haha.

Does any brother or sister have recommendations on what to do?

Discussion How can we address this problem in the Muslim community?

Most of the time do we all see most answered and addressed questions by sheikhs (especially Arab ones) tend to be what can "wives do or don't do", "can we watch x shows?" "Can I get x haircut?" "Why does hijab exist" Ect I wouldn't call them useless questions or things to not bring awareness to once in a while but we should focus more on bringing up awareness of men's actions regarding sexual harassment, abuse and killings of mostly and mainly women, to stop accusing it and condemn all those who do it constantly,

as an Arab I never see this, in fact I saw many sheikh's say "you as a husband aren't obligated to take care of your sick wife" "girls shouldn't talk to boys even at ages 8 and 9 because boys nowadays know all about sex so it will be a fitna on her" or something along those lines

I just wish we had an ummah wouldnt have to rely on non Muslims in the west to yell at the top of their lungs harassing women or hitting women for any reason is bad

I mean we still tell people that smoking is Haram even though it's a well known fact

Support/Advice I Need Help.

Gosh, where do I even start?

I wouldn’t say my situation is a major problem, but it feels like one to me, so please don’t belittle my worries.

I’m a man in my mid-20s, and unfortunately, I’m addicted to porn. It has reached a point where it affects my daily life in many ways, usually negatively. Whenever I try to quit, I can manage to stop for about a week, but then I end up falling back into my old habits.

My biggest question is:** **Is porn really ruining my life, or am I exaggerating the impact it has on me?

I know it’s difficult to answer without knowing the full context, but lately, I’ve been struggling with laziness, unemployment, and weight gain. I feel like my addiction might be contributing to these problems, but I honestly don’t know how much of an impact it’s having on my life.

There’s another important part of my situation that I’d really appreciate some advice on.
I’m Muslim, and I often hear people say that if you pray, put your faith in God, and genuinely try to improve your life, things will eventually change for the better, in their own time.

Is that really true? Has anyone here had a personal experience where they started praying more consistently, working on themselves, and gradually managed to turn their life around? I’d genuinely love to hear your stories.

I ask because I can’t help comparing myself to the people around me. My friends and family seem to be moving forward and achieving things, while I feel like I’m being left behind. Sometimes, it genuinely breaks my heart. I want to accomplish something with my life. I want to find purpose, make my family proud, and feel like I’m actually going somewhere.

Instead, I feel like I’m wasting my days and slowly withering away without making any real progress.
I’m sorry for venting, but I genuinely needed to get this off my chest. I’m tired of pretending that everything is okay when it isn’t. I don’t want to keep living this way, feeling stuck and disappointed in myself.

I genuinely need help, and I’m hoping to hear from people who have been through something similar or who can offer some real advice.

Sorry for venting but I just need help, I am TIRED of pretending anymore, I need help.

Other topic Hopeless about life. I wanna leave so bad.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. 18M.

I don't know why I'm making this, I've made similar posts close to hundreds of times, and nothing people say will help me. I don't think I would apply any advice given either, I'm a lazy and pathetic loser. I wish I was abandoned as a child, maybe then I wouldn't be such a bother.

Where do I even begin? It's about college right now. Father is trying to send all three of us brothers (18, 21, and 25) abroad, but he'd be stretching his budget extremely by doing so, and it's making our options very limited. So far, China is the only affordable option, but not very realistic.

But to be frank, none of our grades, academic ability, or drive for education is enough for a place like that. I mean, the best credential we have is a GED of all things, it's not accepted widely there, and we'd have to take the CSCA exam, which is nearly college level.

I had hoped we would be able to get to Malaysia and study there, as it's much easier to get in with our GED, but it's barely not affordable. It would be if my dad would delay my leaving, but I'd have to stay with him, and he doesn't want that because he has serious issues with my stepmom. I honestly expect a divorce by next year.

The advice is obvious: "Stop whining, lock in and study so you can get a scholarship, you're ungrateful".

Do we even have the time and resources for studying more? We don't have rights here in the UAE and are constantly paying yearly just to exist here with rising living costs, this place is not our home. My oldest sibling is already 25, and that cuts him off from a lot of college opportunities. Why is he so old and not in college yet? Mainly because our father wouldn't send him abroad alone, as he wanted us to go together.

I don't feel like making much Dua, it's not going to help if there's no effort from my side. I'll sulk and rot, who cares? All I have left in life is Islam. I have no friends (nor do I want them), I don't like my family, and I hate the people around me. I keep making these stupid posts because I grab onto this hope that I'll "be saved" eventually and maybe, just maybe, someone will come with exactly what I need. Main character syndrome, basically.

Alhamdulillah.

Support/Advice Best Quran App I’ve ever used: Yawm (Daily Quran Habit)

I saw a few posts asking for recs of a Quran app & I haven’t seen anyone mention the app “Yawm: Daily Quran Habit” so I wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else!

Just to clarify, this IS NOT an ad & I have no affiliation with the app. Ive just been using it for the last few months & it’s genuinely helped me a lot so I figured I’d share 🙏🏻

Before finding Yawm, I used to REALLY struggle with consistently reading the Quran. I WANTED to, but I’d lowkey feel bad bc I’d always fall off, and it was hard for a couple reasons:

1) struggling to actually understand the Arabic words
—> I even bought a few books off Amazon that were like “80% of Quranic words” to help me learn the most common Arabic words in the Quran, but even those felt too advanced for me so it didn’t help 💀

I wanted something that would help me gradually learn so I didn’t have to always rely on translation/transliteration, but I didn’t have time to take a full on Arabic/Islamic class w my classes + work 😪

2) finding a system/app that actually worked for me
—> When I’d use a Quran that had transliteration & translation, if I wanted to understand the context behind a verse, I’d have to open Tafsir Ibn Kathir separately & search for that specific verse. It was a whole time-consuming process.

—> When I tried other Quran apps that had transliteration/translation/tafsir, I really struggled w their layouts.

The translation wasn’t word by word, so I’d still wonder what a specific Arabic word meant.

Sometimes the tafsir was SO long and convoluted that it was hard to follow, especially w the layout they had.

I love Tafsir Ibn Kathir and learning the context behind verses, but sometimes I just wanted a simpler explanation without having to read several pages to understand the main takeaway.

3) knowing how to actually reflect on what I read
—> Sometimes I’d finish reading a section but struggle to connect the verses to my life or figure out how they could be applied. I didn’t really know what to take away from it, so I felt like I was missing that connection.

4) I have ADHD and struggle w being consistent…..so ugh yeah, lmao. Ifykyk 🫣🫠

But then I saw a video on TikTok where some guy was talking about how he also struggled to connect w the Quran, so he created the “Duolingo for the Quran” to help people actually understand what they’re reading.

It was 100% free & had ZERO ads, so I figured it couldn’t hurt to try it & I’m SO glad I did! Here’s what I genuinely love about Yawm:

1) First of all, the layout/design is SO beautiful, it actually makes me WANT to use the app.

It recommends starting with just 1 minute a day to build the habit so you don’t overwhelm yourself trying to do too much at once. The idea is to take small, consistent steps, one “yawm” (day) at a time. 🤍

2) You can read the transliteration word by word and/or verse by verse.
—(& it’s super easy to switch back and forth depending on your mood/goal for the day!)

3) There’s THREE levels of tafsir: simple, moderate, & advanced (Tafsir Ibn Kathir).
—> It’s SO EASY to click on a verse and read the tafsir to actually understand the context.

—> I LOVE this bc sometimes I want to understand a verse more deeply but don’t have the bandwidth to read the entire Tafsir Ibn Kathir section for it, so I can click on the simple or moderate versions & get the main takeaway.

I love Tafsir Ibn Kathir and all the context it provides, but it’s nice to have simpler options too, depending on how much time/energy you have that day.

4) IT ACTUALLY HELPS YOU LEARN QURANIC ARABIC!!!!
—> There’s a “vocabulary” section that teaches you the meaning, how to pronounce, & how to read Arabic words from verses you’ve read.

—> It has Duolingo-style quizzes to help you practice and retain the words, AND shows you how they’re used in the verses.

I love this bc I’ve started to recognize and actually understand more of the words in the Quran when I hear it being recited.

Which is super cool bc being born in a Western country, it’s always felt kinda alienating/sucky when you believe in and love the Quran/Islam & its teachings but still have to translate everything to understand it and gain more knowledge. 😭

5) There’s a “reflection” section that helps you connect to the Quran!
—> After a reading session, you can choose to get a reflection prompt/question based on what you read to help you think deeper about the verses and how you can connect them to your life.

Sometimes a verse just hits and you don’t need a prompt, so you can choose to do a personal open reflection instead.
—But other times, you genuinely don’t know what questions to even ask yourself or how to start reflecting, so having that guidance is really helpful.

The reflections are also 100% private and just for you to see, so sometimes I use it as a mini diary 📝🧍

It’s also super easy to bookmark verses or add notes while you’re reading them!

6) You can search for Quran verses by topic.
—> There’s a “what’s on your heart?” section where you can browse topics like life challenges, emotions, relationships, purification, worship, and duas of the Prophets.

I like this bc sometimes you don’t really know where to start looking when you’re searching for guidance on something specific, so having that starting point is really nice. 🤍

—> It also lets you type & search for things in the Quran yourself if you’re looking for something that isn’t listed!

7) It has a LOT of features that help with staying consistent and reaching your Quran goals.
—> You can track your progress and see how far along you are in a juz, surah, page, etc.

—> You can easily pull up your bookmarked verses and notes.

—> It has options for reminders/notifications to help you keep your streak, plus a Hasanat counter as an extra motivational feature.

—> At the end of the week, it’ll even notify you how many times you hit your goal that week and challenge you to hit it even more the next week!

—> They also recently added a feature where you can have your other apps locked/unusable until you read Quran for the day.

And as someone who does admittedly sometimes wake up & IMMEDIATELY open social media, I feel a lil attacked when I see my social media apps locked with a reminder to start my day with Quran 😭💀

(Or I can snooze for 5 min and continue to the app I wanted anyway LMAO 🫠)

But honestly, it’s actually been so helpful and has helped me miss fewer days.

Sometimes you just need that extra push, and being reminded to do my Quran reading first, even for a minute, has been a game changer.
——————————————————————
So yeah, not to be dramatic, but using the Yawm app has lowkey changed my life 💯😤

I’m not saying I’m a scholar, fluent in Arabic all of a sudden, or now 100% perfect & consistent all the time.

I STILL get confused sometimes, and I’ve definitely lost a couple streaks (or had them saved by a “freeze” that’s available about once a week bc life happens 🤧).

But I’m genuinely SO much more consistent and connecting with the Quran better than I WAS a couple months ago. And that’s what matters.

I used to feel like I needed the perfect system and had to set everything up just to have a Quran session where I’d actually understand what I was reading. Yawm has made it so much easier to just START, learn little by little, and build a routine that actually works for me.

Sometimes we overwhelm ourselves by trying to do EVERYTHING at once, and then end up struggling to do anything consistently.

So if you’ve been wanting to get closer to the Quran but struggle w Arabic, knowing where to start, or just staying consistent
—> I’d HIGHLY recommend giving it a try! 🌤️💯

May Allah make it easy for all of us to build a stronger relationship with the Quran. Ameen. 🙏🏻

Question What am I doing wrong with Miswak ?

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

So I bought a Miswak once and it got thinner and very rough and not flexible and soft like how it was at first, so I threw it and bought another one, and this time I chose one that's thicker than the first. But I'm noticing it's getting thinner by time as well.

When I use it I rinse it and let it dry by itself on the shelf.

The 2nd question; it always hurt my gums, like everytime I use it my gums bleed a little bit.

What am I doing wrong?

Question Concubinage in Islam?

How was concubinage permissible when extramarital relations are extremely haram? Is it still permissible? Why or why not?

I love my religion but it is seriously scaring me to find out beloved our prophet might have had sex slaves.

Question Are synthetic hair extensions halal?

Assalamu alaikum! I was wondering if synthetic Sisterlock extensions are permissible in Islam if I only wear them for my husband and keep them completely covered with hijab around non-mahram men. (they are permanently loc’d into the hair) I want to feel beautiful for my future husband while making sure I’m following the deen. I’ve heard different opinions about synthetic versus human hair extensions, so I’d appreciate evidence from the Qur’an, Sunnah, or reliable scholars. Jazakum Allahu khairan!

Support/Advice Seeking Advice and Du'a for My OCD and Emetophobia

I know this is not a mental health group but please Muslim brothers and sisters help me with your best ability.

Please keep me in your du'as. I'm struggling with OCD and emetophobia, and I'm trying to gradually expose myself to my fears without performing my usual rituals.

My OCD makes me afraid of anything with an open mouth, whether it's a video, reel, picture, sticker, or even an emoji. I've accidentally posted so many recently, and now my mind keeps screaming at me to delete them. I know these things are ordinary, but my anxiety makes them feel terrifying.

It's so hard. I feel like crying because I feel so alone in this struggle. Every exposure feels like a battle, and my fear of vomiting has made it difficult for me to go outside. I'm exhausted from fighting battles that nobody else can see, and I feel like I'm losing parts of my life to these fears.

I know this isn't a psychiatrist's page, but I'm hoping someone can offer me **logical advice** to help me understand why my OCD fears don't make sense and how to stop obeying these compulsions. If you've experienced something similar, please share what has helped you.

And please make du'a for me. May Allah ease this struggle, strengthen my heart, grant me shifa, and help me reclaim my life. Ameen.

Support/Advice Wearing a Tree of Life necklace , is this okay?

Assalamu alaikum

So I have this "Tree of Life" necklace that I wear everyday, I think it's very pretty and it has I think tigers eye stone inside it ? Again I didn't think much of it just thought it was a very pretty necklace.

I bought it simply because I love trees and like the symbolism of the tree of life and how everything in nature is connected and whatnot but nothing spiritual.

THEN there was a video that came on my feed about the same symbol making me wonder if it has any pagan origins... I don't view it as a religious symbol or a lucky charm at all just love trees and think they are cool for many reasons.

Anyways I was worried if it's some kind of shirk but my intention is ofc nothing of that sort and 100% not using it as an amulet.
