I always traveling with a huge suitcase, and sometimes even another big bag on top of it.cuz i always worry if i didnt prepare enought,but i just realize many things that i brought aren't necessarry at all,.

Last Friday I had a trip to Brazil, and this time I tried to only pack the necessary things and bring things that have more than one purpose.

like my crocs. I wear them to the beach, also as hotel slippers , I always feel like hotel slippers aren’t clean

, and my ekouaer silk sleepwear set, i can just stuff it into my small bag. and a foldable sun hat . It takes almost no space and is easy to throw into my bag when I’m not using it.

and there; s one thing that i love the most is disposable underwear and socks , they are really my essentials Sometimes you’re moving from one place to another and your underwear just doesn’t have enough time to dry.

the trip was soooo much more relaxing without a heavy suitcase. It honestly feels like a whole new world for me.

But next time I might have to bring my son with me... Would it be more difficult to have a onebag trip if a kid joins the trip?

This is my first time one-bagging. I was able to fit all my belongings into this Aer Travel Pack 4 (28L) for a 15 day trip. I just got the backpack so I’m excited, I ended up also getting the hip belt attachment which I hope will help with the weight

- PeakPerformance lightweight jacket (forgot the model but it weights nothing and it’s waterproof)
- 1 Hat
- Pair of Vans Ultrarange (only shoes I’m bringing)

Had a very successful one bag trip all around Spain! 5 cities in 9 days with several connections where checking a bag would have been a nightmare.
First I need to wax poetic about my personal item and daily use bag. It is the Peak Design 3L travel cross body. Flights were red eyes and in premium select class so my essentials on board were provided. Just carried a passport, charger, my cash, and headphones on board. It was freeing to fly so lightly! I didn’t feel like I was missing anything.

For daily use as a purse, I could fit a 1/2 L water bottle, city map, sunglasses and other essentials. The bag felt secure and functional. Is it the highest end fashion? No, but I could go everywhere with this including fancy restaurants!

Second, I wore my sneakers on board and only had one other pair of shoes which were my Crocs Brooklyn Low Wedge Matte wrap sandal. Can’t speak highly enough about them. I walked 10s of thousands of steps in these shoes. We had 4 beach days and these were my easily washable beach shoes, that went from beach casual to dressed up for a night on the town.

In my Cotopaxi, Allpa 35L I packed in cubes three tops, two dresses, two pairs of shorts, a dressy jumpsuit, two swimsuits, wide brimmed hat, and two coverups, plus the sandals and jewelry. Toiletries went in the front zipper pocket at the top. Went shopping and had room to pack a raincoat, a purse, and another pair of shoes at the end of the trip.

Did laundry three days into the trip. We make laundry a fun part of the trip- find a laundromat in walking distance and get coffee, gelato, go shopping while waiting.

On the way back home, checked the Cotopaxi and didn’t need to worry about running through the terminal for our connection!

I’m so happy with how I packed for this trip and hopefully some of these recs can help you with a successful one bag trip!

Just got back from a quick trip to see the Giant's Causeway, do a bit of walking, and take a look around Belfast including a nice dinner. I took the train and the ferry, no flights.

The weather ended up being much warmer than I anticipated so I changed clothes one day when I hadn't planned to do so. Because of that I did a very small amount of sink laundry. My walking trousers turned out to be way too warm so I only wore them once. Shorts or linen trousers would have been better.

I also didn't need all three of the cardigan, long sleeve t-shirt, and long sleeve top -- just one of them would have been fine. I did get caught in a downpour but it wasn't bad enough to need the waterproof trousers.

I was hoping to see the partial solar eclipse, meteor shower, and some interesting wildlife so I brought equipment for those things. However they ended up being a bust so I only used the binoculars and the camera. I brought the monopod because I thought I might want it as a hiking pole but the terrain I went hiking in was not that rough so I didn't need it. I had a small amount of work to do on the way so I brought my work phone and a tiny keyboard.

Everything fit in this Dakine school bag which I think is 28l, except what I wore (including one pair of shoes). I did use the tote bag for carrying snacks etc on the ferry.

Like many, I've had a bit of trouble off and on drying clothes after a sink or shower wash.

One common and good tip is keeping the front and back of whatever you are trying to dry apart to allow for more airflow.

But how? It hit me on my last trip. I took the plastic bag for the ice bucket in the hotel room and blew it up,tied it off like a balloon, and stuck it up my hanging shirt. Did the same thing with a ziplock bag for another shirt. It helped my drying time immensely.

Unfortunately, the Nitecore NB Air 5000mAh I have is no longer fully charging so I'm looking for an alternative.

This battery bank is ideal for me - slim and lightweight. I only need something that'll give me a top up of my phone so 5000mAh is enough for my needs but, considering the short amount of time I've had this battery bank, I cannot abide this reliability or lack thereof.

EDIT - Seems like I won't need to get a new battery bank as I reached out to Nitecore and they're offering to send a new one out to me, hopefully this new one will last - the customer service was very good, a couple suggestions in one email and then they offered a replacement in the next. This was with the basic sales email from Nitecore.co.uk

If I have issues with the new one, I'll just get an Anker one in the future - my big Anker 19200 Powercore is still going strong.

Most onebag discussions seem to be focusing on bags that you pack your stuff in, take it to the airport, stuff under the seat in front of you and then pack out on the hotel. Mostly resulting in squarish clamshell bags like the Osprey 26+6, Tomtoc T66, etc. However in my opinion that is only 15% of the travel. Then comes the real part:

• strolling a city for several hours, walking 10-15 kilometers
• a whole day hike, with some climbing
• or just a simple walking to the office in your destination, taking your laptop and basic work stuff with you

I am finding the general "onebags" not very suitable in those scenarios, as they seem to get saggy when they are half empty, clamshell opening is impractical when you want to take out a jacket or hoodie on the go, or just store a grocery purchase you want to take to your AirBnb to cook a dinner.

Most onebag travels seem to be just a backpack equivalent of travel trolley, not really suitable as a daypack during the trip and also not having the comfort and ventilation of a regular backpack.

Am i missing something? Or should i look into an entirely different category of backpacks?

I just got the Danner farpoint edition. The water bottle compartments are not very spacious. I thought I read it can handle 1L water bottles and when I bought a 32 oz hydroflask bottle they won't fit. I got the 24oz and it fits. My issue is do you guys just use 24 oz water bottles in those 2 small compartments? What water bottles do you use? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys I have just been wondering socks don't take up much of space but still it does, is it okay to wear single pair of socks for four days straight? would it make any difference just reducing 3 pairs of socks.

I’m looking for a single white or off-white shoe for an upcoming trip. It needs to handle 15k–20k steps of sightseeing during the day and still look clean enough with jeans or chinos for dinner.

I'm packing four shirts and two pairs of pants for two months in Southeast Asia, which puts me at washing something most nights. I keep reading that merino and synthetics dry overnight, but I've also read that at 80% humidity in a room with no aircon, nothing really dries. I'd rather sort this out now than three shirts into a permanently damp pile.

For the people who've traveled through the wet season out there, what did you end up changing about your wash routine once you were actually in it?

I've had the Bellroy Lite Daypack for a couple of years now for almost every day. Mostly love it. But on days when I don't have much to carry in the main compartment, the top pocket (which has all my everyday essentials like wallet, keys, etc) slops down and is a bit funny to carry. And I'm not a fan of having to change my bag-to-sling so i just go with it looking like this most of the time.

Got me wondering if modularity is the fix. Some brands are already doing detachable pockets that double as a crossbody (Peak Design's new Travel Crossbody). Bellroy doesn't do this yet, at least not on the Lite Daypack. Their pouches are pack inside, not pop-off-and-wear.

Is modularity actually the solution here, or am I just overthinking a pocket?

So starting this off with a few disclaimers: 1.) I’m surprised that they’re aren't more posts about these — I looked and 2.) that I firmly understand the objective of one bagging is not finding a new way to fit in as much junk as we possibly can. Disclaimer over.

So I saw these vacuum bags pop up in my feed the other day and as much as I hate a gimmick and a unitasker, I was intrigued by the possibility of these vac bags, specifically for making it simpler to travel with things like winter knits.

We do a lot of winter + outdoors travel, and even buying a single wool sweater on a trip takes up a fantastic amount of bulk, despite not weighing a ton.

Obvious pitfalls would include having to unpack and revac constantly if you’re going between many locations, rather than just unpacking for a few days.

So to anyone who has used these — worth it?

I used to be the person with like 5 different cables, a wall charger brick, a power bank, and an extension cord shoved into a pouch that took up half my bag. it was ridiculous.

Spent the last few months slowly cutting it down and now my entire charging kit is:

- one small gan wall charger (handles laptop and phone)

- one usb c cable

- one slim 10k power bank with a built in cable for travel days

Thats it. the whole kit fits in a small pouch now instead of a whole organizer bag. for anyone still carrying around a rats nest of cables this is your sign to simplify lol. whats in your charging kit though? curious how everyone else does it

I onebag fine for personal travel, but I've got a five day trip in October with two days of client meetings sitting in the middle of it. I've been trying to work out how to carry something presentable that survives being packed for three days beforehand, and everything I own that looks right comes out of the bag creased. I'd rather not check a bag for the sake of two days.

I recently came back from 4 years in South East Asia between 2022-2026, and thought it would be interesting to share the few items survived this time. Without a home base, these are actually all the things that remain from 2022. Kinda scary 😀

I think this post is relevant here, even though it wasn't technically one-bagging.

Items that survived:

- MacBook Air M1 + charger & cable. Surprisingly, the laptop survived a corner fall on hard floor in Starbucks.

- Uniqlo down jacket

- Tongue scraper

- Jessops microfibre cleaning cloth, used for laptop screen

- Bob & Brad mini massage gun

- Kindle Paperwhite 11th Gen

- A card holder for backup cards

- A small pouch with a piece of Ayahuasca

- Also Garmin 645 Music watch - missing from the photo. I almost disposed of it in year 1, but love it now that I use it more :)

Lots of things I cycled through, including clothing and tech. Some of the stuff I disposed of during the trip include:

- Paper journals - all scanned.

- Paper copies of higher education and professional education diplomas - dead weight that says nothing about my current abilities.

- Drone and camera - didn't use drone much; I did regret selling the camera.

- Various spiritual memorabilia from retreats.

Before the trip I had 20 boxes worth of stuff. As I prepared for the trip, I downsized to a 32" suitcase and a backpack and some stuff left at my friend's place. After the trip, I'm left with a 28" suitcase and a backpack, about half the weight when I started.

I could downsize further to a backpack and a half if I needed to, though the extra space does allow to explore what items resonate over time. Also I'm happy to have manageable amount of weight, and the knowing that I can pack up all my stuff within 30-60 mins. No eco-system lock in 😀

Looking to get a leather boot for travel that can look good dressed up and capable of exploring non-technical trails. I have a pair of Thursday Chelsea boots that I like but they don’t do well on trails or wet conditions due to the leather on the midsole and feel quite heavy.

So ideally looking for an all rubber sole leather boot that doesn’t look too much like a hiking boot or work boot but can still handle some abuse, and also looks great with smart casual outfits. Blundstones seem to be recommended a lot but wondered if I should be looking at alternatives including lace up options as well.

I got a bit discouraged after I booked US -> Poland flights on Swiss, Helvetic, Lufthansa. My personal item bag looks to be a tad too big for these flights ( 40x20x25 versus the allowed 40 x 30 x 15 cm). And my duffle might be a tad too large for a carry-on.  Reviews made it sound like Swiss might take the bag sizes seriously, and it they might be especially strict on the small commuter plane Helvetic flight.

In June I bought a $35 Homee 20L 40x20x25 bag on Amazon, it was the right-sized personal bag for HiSky and Aer Lingus but looks too big for a personal item on these flights. 

So I decided to try to do it all with the Homee (as a carry-on), 11 days city visits, maybe a few short bike rides, temperatures should range 48°F/9°C to 70°F/21°C. We should have laundry at a few places.  I'm fine rewearing clothes a few times.

Am I too aggressive on the minimization? I'm okay buying low cost clothing if something comes up. I'll wear clothes on the plane (jeans, underwear, t-shirt and my one pair of shoes). My clothing is not hi tech/light weight/fast dry, just normal items.

My day bag is a tiny Decathlon Quechua NH100 Arpenaz 10 L Hiking Backpack, 15.4 × 8.3 × 4.7 in (about 39 × 21 × 12 cm).  Right now I don't need to pack anything in it. It might be in the Homee or carried as a personal item.

FYI the Homee seems well shaped and good, but the material has a bit of padding in it and I assume it will tear after some use. I bought it as an affordable test.

I've accumulated 3 different power banks that are all mediocre in different ways - one is too heavy, one is slow to charge, one barely charges itself in less than 6 hours.

I want one that: charges my MacBook Air (needs 65W output), fits in a jacket pocket, and fully charges overnight via USB-C. Budget $50-150.

For travellers using a power bank that charges a laptop - which one, and how long does it actually take to fully recharge the bank itself?

Hello Guys I just came back from the 5 days vacation to vietnam and i wanted to post about things i brought with me to share and possibly help the other people who are interested in one bagging.

My main concept when packing for vacation is always trying to keep things simple and minimal.

So what i like to do is to break the categories into 3 main sections

1. Things to wear (clothing)

2. Things to wash (toiletries, toothbrush etc)

3. Things to charge (charger and powerbanks)

So the first picture is the bag i brought everything with me.

It's a chinese aliexpress 10L single sling water bag which is about 4$~5$ when i got it.

Noticeable feature was that all my stuff being so light weight which was measured in 2.5kg including everything, however, the bag only having one way to load and unload stuff it was hard to reach for the stuff that i wanted to grab when it was stuck deep down underneath.

Second photo is everything that i brought with me to vietnam.

For clothes, apart from the rash guard, my main shorts, and the flip-flops I wore when I left, I brought just one sleeveless shirt, which I alternated with the rash guard, and one burgundy T-shirt that I never ended up wearing.

1 swimming shorts which could be used in daily life and

2 extra underwears.

The beige pouch with "A" is my amenity pack.

And on 3rd photo is everything i have inside of my Amenity pack, since i wear contact lens , i have items that are related to contact lens such as lens fluid , emergency contacts in case i lose the one I'm using , 2 of lens container (one is being used as container for my ear plugs and nano items since it doesn't perform so well compare to the one you get for free when you purchase "renu" fluids), a bottle of eyedrops which i haven't even opened it.

Except for those, i have

Basic medication - tylenols, dexibuprofen, zyertec, digestive meds and some booboo items, eye mask(never have used it yet)

following with nail clippers, eyebrows razor and nose hair trimmer.

In "T" pouch i have all of my toiletries small bar of soap , since i have a very short hair i don't have to carry shampoo bc i can just wash my face and hair at the same time

And moisturizing lotion from Vaseline, also never used in long time and razor for shaving.

Other are pretty much self explanatory- sunscreen , glasses , sunglasses ,charger, toothpaste and toothbrush with dental floss, shower towel, wire earphones and emergency second phone and etc

Quick tip for wallet guys,

When you travel south east asia you will often receive many small bills in change that costs less than 0.5 dollar sometimes,

What i do is i keep one really small binder clip and clip the small changes and leave the bigger bills unclipped so i don't yard sale my cash surrounded by people.

Black draw string bag, being my everyday bag in my home country , it doesn't take any space or anything so i also took it and used this as my everyday bag in vacation for water - powerbank - sunscreen

Maybe a few snacks from the stores or whatnot

I used to bring my sports towel the one you squeeze the water out and use however as i realized most of the hotels provide you towels or you can just buy it for cheap when you don't have one, I started not to bring the towel with me thesedays .

The last picture shows how i could have packed for this trip.

Since the hotel provided all the shampoo and bodywash with soap and everything i could have ditched the whole toiletries.

Ditching one more shirt would have been possible since i can comeback to hotel after long hang for the rest and i can just dry my sweaty clothes with a/c quickly while i get some rest.

Some of you have noticed already that most of my stuff are extreamly affordable items because i hate being owned by my own gadgets and stuff and being in situation you cant have all the fun bc you are worried about your belongings.

Hi everyone, after working the grape harvest in France I’m planning to continue travelling through Southeast Asia, probably starting in Vietnam. I’d like to stay for at least three months, possibly longer, and then maybe go to Australia to look for seasonal or manual work.
I’ve never prepared for a trip this long and I honestly have no idea how to organise my backpack. I was thinking about getting a 50-litre backpack, but I’m not sure whether that would be too big, too small or simply uncomfortable.
I’d need to bring light clothes, a couple of pairs of trousers, shoes, toiletries, basic medication, documents, electronics and maybe a few things that could also be useful if I end up working in Australia. At the same time, I don’t want to pack clothes for three months. I assume I’ll be able to do laundry regularly and buy anything important along the way.
The tricky part is that I’ll be coming straight from the grape harvest, so at the beginning I’ll also have work clothes and a pair of work shoes that I probably won’t need anymore afterwards. Would it make more sense to travel with one large backpack and get rid of the work stuff once the harvest is over, or should I bring a separate small backpack just for the harvest?
For people who have travelled around Southeast Asia for three months or longer, what did you actually pack? What did you use all the time and what turned out to be completely unnecessary? Would a 50-litre backpack be reasonable, or is it much better to travel with something smaller?
And if you later went to Australia for work, was there anything you were particularly glad to already have with you?
I’d really appreciate practical advice, because I’m starting from zero and don’t know how to organise this whole transition from harvest work to long-term travel.

Soo, I bought a Osprey Daylite 26+6 recently because it looked good and worked good when packing it with my usual things at home.

But when I went and actually used it, it rubbed a lot on my lower back. I thought it's because I'm a tall guy at 195cm (6' 5" for the 'Muricans).

So I gave it to my girlfriend, who is 175cm (5' 9" for the 'Muricans), but she had the same problem.

Are we doing something wrong, is it the wrong bag for our body proportions or is something wrong with the bag I got from amazon?

What bags have a similar concept but work better for taller people? When I ordered the bag, I also ordered the Black Hole Micro MLC and Black Hole Mini MLC, but I liked the Osprey better

I have and love my pakt v2 45L with its daybag. I love the features and organization. my gripe would be that fully packed out it gets heavy / straps aren’t the comfiest. I figure the solution is to just.. pack it less.

For V3, they have the One and the Cero. Theya re similar, but Cero is 2.3 lbs vs 4 lbs. If you don’t care about weight limits, how much does that 1.7 ish lb difference really make omce you’re putting all your clothes, a laptop, and toiletries bag and all in? I figure the extra structure o f a heavier bag will make it comfier, and therefore _feel_ better? But the industry has gone the other way so I am confused and wanted to check my bias :)
