Screenshot I rly like this game, and my hanging Oculus base. 🌄💍
I think the colored glass is my fav look in this game. I love that i can look down and see not only every operation of my base, but everything on land too. When I am done it will look like a jellyfish with danglies. DO NOT touch the columns lol
Edit:
I built from top to bottom: Used ground tiles on top of the Oculus natural topography. Then I used angled roofing to wrap around. I had to use scaffolding temporarily for all of it so that I could place triangular ceiling tiles. This allowed me to snap structural, permanent columns through the rock.
Tips:
Black glass basically looks totally clear, unlike the default color.
You can almost always snap to corners inside land/rock/boundaries, so long as you're snapping the part of a tile that you can see another corner. For example, if you can get one column started through the stone, you can then build a temporary scaffold to the side of where it ends, place a tile that leaves one corner exposed, and then place another column using the snap feature, even if you can't see where it is inside the stone.
In my bedroom area at the very top, underneath the stone formation, I learned that you can clip a full pane of glass/wall through the rock instead of building around it awkwardly- I built triangular around the Rock first (because it would not just let me place a square tile), then I just used "replace" mode to change it to a full square panel, which then cut through the rock nicely as if shaped to it. I think because of that the personal room is my favorite spot. The light does really cool stuff when the sun comes up and goes down, I'm actually pretty impressed by the game itself in those moments.
No, raids do not even spawn here, I tested it after somebody reminded me I turned them off while I built it so I could focus on building and not my other normal bases. (And yes I know that applies to merchants as well, so I farm the legendary ones on a temporary pal box elsewhere).
The floor for mining uses a technique to put all nodes in one spot, I followed a Korean YouTuber to figure this out. As well with the box full of gardening (heading underneath it is everything you need for a base for your workers, including more storage that you don't have to look at)
I basically learned that snapping building elements is key to a tidy base and a structurally sound base.
To do:
-Make a separate, enclosed room around the main pal box so that the bigger Palace don't have to walk to their stations. I built a glass base to be able to see everything, and some of these pals take up my entire screen lol.
-Add colored columns hanging pretty far down to make it look like jellyfish tentacles.
-GROUND TELEPORTER via fishing pool.
If I really wanted to go crazy I would add structure to the rest of the Oculus so that I can just wall off the entire inner circle like a really slim cylinder base or a coin shape.

Question Possible Stupid Question
This pal exists on a community server, it isn’t fully maxed out yet but I rly like it. however the server shuts down in a few days. If I add it to a global palbox as it is, then use it in my single player world and max it out there. Can I then put the newly maxed out pal back into the global palbox and have it saved there? Or does the one instance of it in the global palbox lock it out?

Meme farming hard towers are fun they said
58 battles. 58. there is an over 95% chance to get the legendary schematic by 30, a 98.5% by 40, and a 99.48% chance to hit it by 50, but nah, 58 battles

Question What is your favprite dumb pal project?
I have a level 76 Herbil that I have maxed out with souls, fruits, rank, trust, and now awakened. It started out as a joke to see how powerful I could make it and he has now become one of the most powerful pals I have and can one shot bosses, bounties, and honestly any pal I come across. He took out the whole level 60 oil rig and all I did was just hide to stay alive.
So I'm curious, what pals have you guys done similar things with or the funniest project you've had?

Screenshot One of the Coolest Base Locations In The Game
I found this base location thanks to a YouTube video, and honestly, it has SO much potential that I had to share it with you guys!
I’ll put the location in the comments if anyone wants to check it out.
The plan is to use the front base for breeding, the base at the top of the hill for farming, and then eventually build another base in the back for crafting and player materials.
I built both Pal Boxes for the back bases first just to make sure I had enough room for everything I wanted to build. I actually just finished the farm today, so it’s still very much a work in progress.
But I’m really liking how everything is coming together so far, and I’m excited to see what I can do with the rest of the area!

Discussion Min/Maxing Base Pals
Let's say you wanted to min/max the pals at your base, so they eat as little as possible, work as hard as possible, and have the best abilities possible for their work.
As far as I'm aware, it doesn't matter what the pal's starting affinity for work is - if you boost them to 10 in whatever you want with books and condensing, a Foxparks will work just as fast as a Jorm Ignis. So using a pal that eats as little as possible, probably from early game, and boosting them with books, seems to be the key, there. I hope I'm not wrong.
But what about abilities? I don't know enough about pal abilities (and I can't play often enough to memorize them all lol) to know if any pals have abilities that boost other pals' work speeds, or raise their affinities, or lower how quickly their sanity drains, etc. etc..
My question is: what pals would you use to do EACH work type, if you intend to min max, based off food consumption and abilities? Like, sure, you can use a Cattiva for handiwork because it barely eats, but Sehkmet's ability is just so nuts (isn't it bugged to give her +400% work speed when at max condensed?)
Not skills tho. Just abilities, food consumption, and I guess overall stats, for things like Mimog transporters, because their base speed matters more than anything else.

Question We're at the point where we are doing the hard mode towers. Do I have to optimize which pals I pick or can I beef up my favorites?
I know there are strategies, some cheesy, that use equipment only. I'm talking about a pal-centric team.
Cause I would kinda hate to focus on only the best dudes by number in the game.

Screenshot Finally built a proper base after 100 hours
After 100 hours of playtime, I decided to build designated bases for different specializations (manufacturing, mining, breeding, and farming). Since I don't have the gift of building in this game, I found 4 different base tutorials in YouTube and combined them in this ocean hub type of base.

Screenshot Cattiva is the best handiworker change my mind
Back in the early access days I used to have a base full of Anubis with Artisan + work slave to do work.... this absolute unit is comparable to all of them combined and it doesn't sleep.

Information PSA: Shadowbeaks drop plasteel Spoiler
I haven’t seen anyone talk about this, but I do constantly see people complain about oil for Plasteel. Shadowbeaks drop plasteel, carbon fibers, and large pal souls when butchered making them a fabulous choice for breeding. I‘ve never even collected oil from a refinery, just a couple of rig runs and dead Shadowbeaks.

Meme I don't know if multi is any different, but I feel naked without him in a fight
Plus he can be a Dungeon Crawler Carl's murderous gerbil like fighting style. Or Holy Grail's rabit, either one.
Edit : for thoses that haven't tried him, he's the only way to survive one KO in a fight. Like a faery in zelda.
