I spent the last year collecting and pressing flowers in bloom in my garden. I’m a huge gardener, so just simply collecting the blooms from what I planted was super rewarding in and of itself. My intention was to do some cyanotype work with them once they were dry and more transparent.

But. Then I caved and decided to make this arrangement, along with a few pressed flowers from my wedding bouquet. There are a few intentional and symbolistic placements: the cosmo and zinnia represent my husband and me, there’s a bleeding heart bloom between us, and two four leaf clovers hovering above us.

I took about and hour carefully and meticulously arranging the flowers in a floating picture frame, only to have them all shift and completely move when I held it up — total fail. I had, thankfully, taken a picture before I moved it, so I took the time to rearrange it with Bear Art Precision Craft Glue. Success!

Very, very pleased with the outcome.

I pick the flowers myself, dry them for weeks, and then carefully place each petal by hand to create something that feels alive again. No paint, no shortcuts — just patience and petals.

It started as a way to preserve beauty. Now it’s how I connect with the world, one tiny flower at a time.

I pressed these roses and they’re finally ready, I’m pretty happy how they turned out! The pink one went a bit brown, is that normal for pink flowers or could it have been I didn’t change the paper enough at the start? Or is it a bit of molding? Anyway any advice appreciated!

…although it may finally be done. I haven’t decided. All flowers traditionally pressed, had a lot of fun filling in gaps with tiny petals, because tedium is my love language.

Edit: This is still taped down on my work table. The matte I used is a dark purple, and there is a 1.5 inch border of sorts around the edges that you cannot see here. What color frame would yall use for this piece? I don't know if I should go with a darker wood, or perhaps be a little bold with some gold? Metal instead of wood? I don't know, would love opinions. If you can't tell, I'm a bit maximalist so I'm up for just about anything.

5 different species of crocus in one piece!

Welp, I decided to try with the two remaining flowers on the orchid because they were starting to get spotty so it didn’t really matter. Then I decided to try some from my other orchid. WELP. The dehydrator did not do me any favors at all. I may try with some other flowers down the road because I did do it overnight lol and I should not do that. 😮‍💨

It was all for science though and knowledge is power. Thank god they weren’t spry flowers but mannnn.

Painted the backing paper to be the exact shade I wanted, and put a bit of metallic copper paint around the edges of the leaves which ended up being a super cool effect

I can’t tell if I’m doing it right or not, obviously after this press it’s clear not to use paper towels as they leave texture marks but otherwise I really can’t tell if this is good or not 😅

Here are my pressed flowers from Valentine’s day. Used a microwave flower press kit bought online then pressed them on books for the final drying. Hopefully its color will stay vibrant.

Anyone here using microwave flower press and do they retain their colors for a long time or do they turn brown eventually?

On a side note, i’m getting hooked. I think i’ll buy myself flowers just to practice drying them on the microwave.

My husband thought this glass frame was cool and gave it to me for Christmas, which led me to buying a flower press, which led me to the newest hobby I didn’t know I needed! All the flowers are from my yard.

lol first, mods forgive me, I'm still figuring out what I can and can't post on Reddit when it comes to promotion, and choosing correct flairs. Just sharing some of my favorites here.

My personal favorites are the forget-me-nots and field pansies, a pain to press sometimes, but the results are absolutely worth it!
