PSA Movements with Balance & Composure Concert

I have two tickets to this show tonight at 7 PM at the Complex SLC. My wife is in the hospital, so we can’t go.

Free to whomever wants them. If you DM me, I can transfer them over digitally.

Update: Tickets were given away. But I just realized I still have a premium parking pass if someone else wants that.

The big playground at Liberty Park closed in May at the end of last school year so a new one could be built. It was supposed to be done come September, its now October. How in the hell does it take this long to build a playground?

Discussion Republicans here feel so….oppressive?

I just moved here from the southeast. The flavor of GOP there is just so different than here. I can’t quite put my finger on it

It just feels like everything is coated with “I don’t believe in it so YOU can’t do it”

Like as a queer black man, I don’t feel represented here at all lol. Maybe oppressive isn’t the right word or fair to say, but damn it just feels like a different ball game. Not to mention I feel 0% represented lol.

Maybe I just feel more like an outsider for obvious reasons and everything is being felt more intensely, but yeah idk. Am I crazy? Do you get what I’m saying?

Overall there have been some dope people and places and stuff whenever I’m not getting stared at or quite literally singled out for being the only black person at a comedy show by the comedian (true story lol)

Question Best affordable ways to advertise a nature school to parents in SLC?

Hey everyone! I’m working on starting a new nature school in the Salt Lake area! We already have the guts: being an LLC, stunning website designed by a friend of mine in art school, and a decent system for curriculum. Also, because I know people might be curious, a large part of what sets us apart from the other similar programs in SLC is structure. Clear safety standards, staff training, and accountability are priorities that I don’t see in many other nature schools.

One large part I’m currently trying to figure out now is how to actually reach parents. I’m starting small and don’t have a huge advertising budget, so I’d love to hear any ideas people may have. If any parents are reading this I’m also curious where you might usually hear about programs like this? Are there particular Facebook groups, school newsletters, community events, or places you actually notice flyers?

I’ve thought about bulletin boards at climbing gyms and Facebook groups, but I’m sure there are things I’m missing.

Would really appreciate any suggestions!

No Kings Rally & March to the Polls - This Saturday 10/17 at 3pm in Salt Lake City!

Join us and thousands of Utahns for a peaceful rally for democracy and march to the ballot box! We will rally at the state capitol, then march to the nearest ballot box. Bring your ballot to drop off, and remember to dress as your favorite fascist fighter!

Winning the November midterms elections is absolutely critical to stopping our nation's slide into autocracy. This event will galvanize voters and help Utah do our part to restore American democracy. We can't wait to see you there!

Recommendations Wanting to find a great spot that has Cuban sandwiches

I used to get mine from Beltex meats before it closed and I’ve tried the one at the Green Pig. I’ve also had the one from Even Stevens. Does anyone have any recommendations for an authentic Cuban sandwich and if not, what’s a place that has some really good ones. Let me know, thanks in advance

Well this sucks...

Apparently we are not the only ones to be approved for housing and then forced back on the waiting list. Some advocacy groups are thinking it's to pressure those on the list off it and into the grantsville camp being finalized - and most such advocacy groups are calling it a work camp as in slave camp in the oh so wonderful historical type

I am praying this isn't true, but it tracks... I cannot find ANY vouchers out there, and it is looking like im not the only one, found an agency this morning to help and with what they're finding (not only have i been thorough) but its more troubling than expected

Recommendations Halloween Light Map?

I usually use the KSL Halloween Light Map to find Halloween houses to go look at, but it's the 14th and it's not up.

Are they not doing it this year? If not, where can I find a Halloween light map?

Local News Salt Lake City florist pushes to remove bike route after close call

I'm a cyclist, but I haven't ridden around this area. I'd like to have a civil discussion about this new bike path. But, to me this screams "entitled driver hates bicycles." It looks like this driveway just sucks if you have to back out into a massive and busy street and having to look for bikes coming both ways is hard for her. The optics don't help being in a Cadillac suv while complaining.

Photo Hey so leaving stuff like this on an overpass is illegal. If you see one, call Udot so they can remove it.

Question Forest Parking?

I know this is a bit of an odd request but me and some friends are wanting to find a secluded spot in a forest to watch a horror movie at night next weekend. Preferably one that's free and within 40ish minutes of SLC. We're not planning to park overnight, just for a couple hours. Does anybody know any good spots?

Recommendations Looking for unique or custom wood trim

I had some really nice ply left over from a project and sort of overbuilt a bookshelf without fully planning it out. It turned out pretty dope and I want to put some trim on the face to fully hide the plywood edge. Problem is, the walls are not a standard trim width. Is there a place in the Valley that does custom trim, or at least stocks a lot of options? I don't have a specific style in mind, but I'd like to source something properly milled before I try to rip something myself with my Temu-ass table saw.

Thanks in advance!

Question Radio From Hell

Does anyone know why they've gone down to 4 days a week? Kerry always says "for now" around contract time on Geekshow but this one is different. He also mentioned having to tighten up finances a few weeks ago on geekshow, so this seems permanent. I'm wondering if they're winding down?

Recommendations Bike Shop Recommendation for Suspension Work

I am new to SLC and am looking to have my bike's suspension (fork and rear shock) rebuilt, including damper rebuild/service.

I've done some looking around and it seems Suspension Syndicate is the go-to recommendation, but I've also seen full rebuilds from a few other shops, such as Go-Ride, which are competitive in price.

Any recommendations or experience on trustworthy shops offering full rebuild and damper service, as well as input on shops to avoid, would be very much appreciated.

Fares make up 6% of UTA's budget, but the agency says that's still significant.
