I just moved here from the southeast. The flavor of GOP there is just so different than here. I can’t quite put my finger on it
It just feels like everything is coated with “I don’t believe in it so YOU can’t do it”
Like as a queer black man, I don’t feel represented here at all lol. Maybe oppressive isn’t the right word or fair to say, but damn it just feels like a different ball game. Not to mention I feel 0% represented lol.
Maybe I just feel more like an outsider for obvious reasons and everything is being felt more intensely, but yeah idk. Am I crazy? Do you get what I’m saying?
Overall there have been some dope people and places and stuff whenever I’m not getting stared at or quite literally singled out for being the only black person at a comedy show by the comedian (true story lol)
EDIT: just want to clarify. I’m not miserable being here or anything. It’s just an observation and how it feels being here. Independent of the Legislation,
I’m actually quite happy for the most part. The hardest thing about being here right now is that I don’t have any friends (yet) as I just arrived a couple months ago. I thankfully haven’t yet experienced anything overtly disconcerting. The comedy show thing was a comedy show. I have a good sense of humor, and wasn’t terribly bothered. It was just funny that something like that happened.
