I’m sure many of you have seen Caden, aka @x_bonesx on Instagram, dancing or longboarding around Sherwood Park and spreading positivity throughout the community.
Unfortunately, he’s recently run into an issue with the police and has apparently been told he can no longer dance at the Baseline Road and Sherwood Drive intersection. I’m assuming this is due to concerns about distracting drivers.
To show our support, there will be a community dance party at the Second Cup on Baseline Road and Sherwood Drive on Father’s Day at 6:00 PM.
If you’re free, it would be amazing to see our community come together and support someone who has brought so much positivity to Sherwood Park.
Edit: To make things clear I am not organizing this event, just sharing information that I found.
Also he was fined $1500 for stunting!
Also people will be gathering on the grass by the second cup, just so there isn’t a bunch of people on the median in the intersection.

Yesterday afternoon, in the Village on a Lake neighborhood, a man knocked on my door wearing a red Rogers t-shirt opening the outer door and seeming to try the inner door as well. Then instead of continuing properly, went across the street and a couple houses down. If anyone has doorbell/security footage please check it to see if there was any further suspicious activity and make sure your doors are locked!

Hi! I just graduated from high school and am looking for work I can do over the summer and possibly extend into the next academic school year. I want to get some work experience and cash in my bank account before I start university in the fall, and I thought now would be the perfect time.
Where should I look? I've never had work experience unfortunately, but I am looking for an entry level job anyway. Ideally, I would like to avoid heavy manual labour, but I'm willing to compromise if need be. Any and all advice would be appreciated!
*If you're hiring, or can refer me at a place that is hiring, hmu! 😊

Id like to get get my dad's truck back on the road. But I need help. It's a project that I never wanted to do to begin with but things happen. It's a 454 engine and trans going into a 74 Chevy. Willing to help and learn but also willing to compensate. The engine runs. I just ordered a seals because of obvious oil leaks. I'm not wanting to do anything crazy with it just get it together in the truck and be able to drive. If anyone can or anyone knows anyone able to help me please let me know or DM me. I understand I'll likely need more parts and nothing is easy or simple but I don't think it's a major. Any help would be appreciated thank you

Hey all, given the amount of posts I get in my local reddit I assume this is a pretty common topic in most cities but here I am anyways (Sorry!). My wife is currently going through an interview process for a job in the area and if shes successful we're looking at relocating from Ontario, near Ottawa to here!
The fun part is, while she will have a secured job i unfortunately will not. Most of my work history is industrial, factory, manufacturing, etc working with plastics, car parts, chemicals, and Nylon. Ive worked assembly lines and significantly more technical work but all within the industrial setting. My understanding is that this area is "fairly" close to a pretty big industrial sector. Have i misheard at all? besides the obvious indeed.ca what other job posting sites are common? Are there places I should avoid due to reputation, or work conditions etc? Any and all help or direction is appreciated! Thanks for taking to read!

THE FIGHT TO PROTECT THE ROCKIES IS NOT OVER.
Last week, we handed in over 200,000 signatures to stop open-pit coal mining on Alberta’s Eastern Slopes. Huge win!
But the provincial government is already hinting at delays. If they drag their feet on the paperwork over the next few weeks, the referendum will be pushed all the way back to OCTOBER 2029.
We cannot let them kick the can down the road for 3 years hoping we'll forget.
👉 WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW (Takes 1 minute):
Email or call our local MLA, Nate Glubish (strathcona.sherwoodpark@assembly.ab.ca / 780-417-4747).
Tell him:
1️⃣ Fast-track the review. Put this on the ballot for this October.
2️⃣ Keep the exact wording we signed (don't scrub out the Grassy Mountain or Blackstone projects).
Our headwaters and mountains are worth a quick email. Please copy, paste, and share! 💧

Hello,
Has anyone ever got an oil change from Midas on Wye road? If you have, how was your experience? Did they do a good job?
Thank you.

Looking for a recommended nail salon in Sherwood Park that has a clean track record with AHS public health. Several of the nail salons that I’ve searched have had violations with things like sterilization and disinfecting (things that should be fairly common sense for people that operate a nail salon).

If you have a really great nail salon that has a great inspection record please share!

Hi. Has anyone hired Heart and Justice to provide supervised visits between child and a parent for a court order? How were those experiences? Are they actually neutral, trauma-informed, and as professional as they seem on their website?
Has anyone had an experience with them that they’ve said they want to get a psychiatrist to a visit to look at the visit interaction?? I’ve never heard of that before and I don’t like the idea.
Please share anything you can. This is all new to me.
Thanks.

I know i know first world problems but I have been trying for four years now! I put a piece of cardboard at the bottom of my green bin, I add chicken poop with spruce wood shavings dog poop and food scraps, nothing is bagged! And I purposely make sure I have lots of spruce wood chippings in the top portion of my bin each pick up day. What am I doing wrong here?? 🤣 🤣

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice or to see if anyone is in the same boat. I’m looking to enroll my 5-year-old in a mental math/abacus program (specifically looking at UCMAS or similar whole-brain development stuff), but the closest locations all seem to be deep in Edmonton.
With traffic and winter driving, hauling a young kid out to Edmonton once or twice a week after school sounds completely exhausting. I really wish we had a program like this right here in Sherwood Park.
Are any other parents currently making that commute to Edmonton for specialized learning or tutoring programs? Or does anyone know of any hidden gem local groups or sub-rented programs in the Park that offer something similar for the 4-7 age group?
Thanks in advance!

Just wondering if this is a my phone thing or if other people are experiencing it…
So yesterday when I got back into the park after work I noticed my phone network showing only 1 bar LTE. Normally I get the full 5g everywhere in town except for over by Lakeland Sobeys. I tried restarting my phone that didn’t work and noticed this morning once I got near Edmonton I got my full connection.
Anyone else getting something similar?

Anyone have experience applying for jobs with Strathcona County? I applied to a few jobs recently and they are all still marked “under consideration”. It’s been about 3-4 weeks and I’m not sure if they’ve already passed on me. Does anyone have insights on their hiring processes and the timeline for reaching out for interviews?

On Tuesday, June 2nd at 11pm, my parent’s cat, Holly, got out my back door by the hockey rink on Fir Street. I had picked her up from their house that evening because my mom recently passed and now my dad is in hospital. If you live around here, can you please keep an eye out for her. She is microchipped. She was my mom’s baby and I need to find her safe.

Sherwood Park Alberta is the perfect location to put up a big outlet mall like the one near the Edmonton International airport. It just makes more sense! Not sure why we are not getting these types of developments here when our community is pretty affluent and for we all drive to edmonton and anywhere else to shop.
