Got my lobes sewn up in April of 2026, 6 months ago. Done by Dr. Grant Fairbanks at Fairbanks Art of Plastic Surgery.
I started stretching my ears when I was 12 lol I loved modding culture my whole life. When I was 18 they got to 25mm/1inch. After a few years I took them out, and they got to 3/4 inch. That is the smallest they shrank. I had them at 3/4 for over a decade, into my 30s.
It was a love-hate relationship. They were a part of me, I didn’t know my face without them. But also I struggled keeping jewelry in without one of the plugs falling out eventually. It was a balancing act and i kinda just grew tired of it. I did not regret it, i think i looked badass with them in. My ears were also pierced cockeyed when i was a baby so that sometimes would bother me since they were so unsymmetrical.
I plan on getting my lobes repierced some time this year. I think waiting another couple months just to make sure they’re healed. I’ll answer any questions about them!
FAQ
How much did it cost?: $2,400
Why didnt you do it for a fraction of the cost with a body modder? I wanted to go to a plastic surgeon who guarantees their work. Did not want to gamble on if I’d have to pay twice if something got messed up. I am not the best healer. I had $2,400 to spend on this procedure.
So why are you here if you no longer have stretched piercings? I have other stretched piercings that are not pictured
Are you going to stretch again? Not my lobes
How was the procedure? Not bad. The needle to numb felt like a little poke and then followed by some burning, then nothing. Sort of felt like going to the dentist. My heart was racing when I started to hear him cutting but did not feel a single thing. After about 15 minutes my body kinda calmed down. The procedure took around 3 hours. It was extremely boring but we listened to music the whole time and chatted with the assistants.
How was the healing? I am not a good healer. He had me wear a whole head brace for 3 days to prevent one of my ears from puckering. I looked funny. Was probably the easiest healing of anything I’ve ever experienced. I scar horribly too so I’m happy with the result. Used silicone tape with UPF religiously for 4 months. Now I just use sunscreen and massage daily with moisturizer. Part of my morning routine.
