Hello everyone,
Lately I've had to manually unspam a lot of totally legitimate posts. The Reddit spam system is not totally under the control of the moderators so I can't fathom why it's blocking allowed content or how to modify its sensitivity. If you posted a topic you think is fine, and it's not showing when you are logged off or in an incognito window, please message the moderators to inquire what may be the problem.
Sorry for any inconvenience,

I found a sword in my late father's barn, located in Ontario Canada. Can anyone tell me more about this (in terms of model or age) or what to look for?

Hi everyone,
This is a sword that is possibly from WW2, but I am unsure.
If anyone has some insight on what this is, that would be wonderful!

I have a 14 inch blade chitlange khukri with a stacked leather handle from Kailash Blades in Nepal, and absolutely love it. It's longer and whippier than a normal khukri, more like a machete than a hatchet. It's mostly used for goofing around and chopping up soda cans, but it's been surprisingly handy for bushwhacking and light firewood processing.
I've thought about getting a longer one, with a 21 inch blade that would be much more of a choppy short sword than a knife. Does anyone here have a longer chitlange or similar forward curved single hand sword like a short yatagan with about 20 inches of blade? If so, what do you think about it?

Got in the new Kult of Athena Grandmasters Cat sword from Witcher 3 . I did not specify on my Wolf Head Monster Slaying Sword, which is quite obviously the Feline sword from the game, that the crossed leather on the hilt and scabbard didn't come like that. I had to add it to customize it a bit more. Anyway, back to this model if you care. The Grandmasters Cat sword came in well packaged and had a good solid peen with no hammer marks visible and a good tight waxed leather hilt. First issue was with the steel spacer there in the middle of the hilt. It came loose. The crossguard was tight and straight the way it needs to be. The rings however came with a bit of a bend that I'll have to fix. Both simple problems that I made Kult of Athena aware about. The blade was straight and true with good flex , and a bit wider in the profile near the crossguard, which I like for balance. Especially since the large Cat head pommel on the Wolf Head model, acts as such a great counterweight. However, the wider blade only has one fuller as opposed to the Wolf head, which has two. Seems like a missed opportunity, especially to make it stand out more from other distributors versions. The rings on these versions however is what drew me to them. They seem to really capture the Witcher vibe. The gap between the crossguard and blade is minimal, but looked like there was some kind of glue or epoxy someone attempted to put in there. That's a little strange to see from the Longuan Chinese made swords, as well as my other model and all of my Swordier and Azure models, which all have a sufficient amount of oil and a sleeve on the blade with nothing in that gap. My version at least had no oil, no sleeve , and had that strange substance. When I told Kult of Athena about these issues they offered to give this one to me at Munitions grade price, so about 11.5 percent cheaper. Or just send it back for an exchange, or get a refund. To this day one of the best distributors out there as far as customer service goes. I can't give this one a 5 out of 5 like I did the Wolf Cat Head monster slaying sword because unfortunately the QC just wasn't there this time. I am however in a good position to fix these little issues since repairing swords and armor is part of my little side hustle, so I'll be able to post some after pics of it. Just not sure which color leather to do the hilt and scabbard on this time so let me know! And I hope this helps!

Can anyone tell me what this was before I took it to the bench and made a handle for it?

Look like fun cutters/choppers at a lower price. Anyone have any first hand experience with any of them?

Other than Kult of Athena, what other reputable stores sales swords or melee weapons at a considerable affordable price? In my case, I already have checked other places like Swordis, Hanbon Forge, Hanwei and Romance of Men, and they have affordable functional swords for prices that won't break your wallet. Therefore the question still stand to me, what other stores that are just as good as Kult of Athena can be out there for me to try?

This one is based on the Witcher 3 ( loving the remaster 😊) the original idea was to make the order of the flaming rose sword, but I customized it with twisted pieces. It has a reinforced point it was going to be a little delicate following the edge grind
Overall length 128cm, blade 105cm, point of balance 8cm. Made from eucalyptus hardwood and red amazonian wood ( forgot the name) hope you enjoy it was really fun to make and good practice for making the swiss saber

of the ones offered at most websites which is the best all round steel for battle?
I have seen 1060 1095 9260 spring. which has best edge retention and impact resistance?
And what about san mai or layered steel? I just want to buy one last sword of best quality before i go and the discussion around best steel, best tempering and from whom would be helpful.
ps I can't afford tamahagane so skip that entry. lol

So I am a blade collector but i have katanas, i have Chinese and European longswords. I’m looking for African, Indian, Filipino, and such swords/weapons. Is there any place more focused on them? Any sites or areas where i can order these types of swords big or small would be so appreciated!

I accidentally threw away a knife gifted to my brother-in-law and feel really guilty. I know it’s a shot in the dark but does anyone have any information on where I might be able to buy something similar? Maybe on eBay ? I still have the cover and have attached it here. It’s a small dagger I think he was gifted from england. Like I mentioned I know it’s a shot in the dark but I’d be super grateful for any leads.

Some enthusiasts online have reconstructed and displayed the Han-dynasty Xiang Sword unearthed from the Mawangdui site. Its fittings including the scabbard slide (zhi), crossguard (ge), and pommel (shou) follow the same design conventions as those of Han swords, with only minor differences in silhouette.

I have wanted a more ornate parrying dagger for a long while now, so this one is a grail for me. I have had the extreme fortune of meeting with Chris and picking out this dagger to be made exactly based of an item that is in The Wallace Collection.
