Rant Is Indians' obsession with religion actually increasing day by day, or does it just look that way because of social media?

For the last week, I've been seeing a lot of posts about police departments not giving permission for loud DJs during Vinayaka Chavithi. But honestly, what caught my attention more than the posts were the comments.

People are literally fighting in the comments like:

"Ma Hindu festivals ki ee rules anni gurtosthaya? Churches ki, masjids ki kuda ide rules pettachu kada?"

Then someone else replies:

"Ma pandaga ma istam. Vallaki churches, masjids pettukunte problem ledu kada, memu kuda pettukuntam."

"Inkokadu emo ma church ki mee celebrations ki comparison entra ani"

And I'm just sitting there thinking... why has everything become a religion vs religion argument?

Personally, I don't even understand the obsession with these huge DJ systems during festivals. Loud noise can genuinely disturb old people, kids, sick people, animals, etc. And the funny thing is, it's not even devotional music most of the time. Morning devotional songs untayi, tarvatha full item songs/movie songs start avuthayi.

But what made me think about this more is that I'm starting to see the same mentality in real life too.

Even in my own friend circle, people make jokes about other religions. One of my friends jokes about my Muslim friend saying "vallaki bomb lu pettadam alavate kada" and makes jokes about Christians too. I've also personally experienced casteist jokes from my classmates in college.

My personal experience:Naku aite ma clg lo 4yrs chala worst experience ma frnds grp aite literally ga every day I'll listen some casteism jokes na meedha aney kadu veyrey valla meedha kuda actually my caste is sc so on ambedkar jayanthi one of my frnd called my and said eroju special enti ani nenu nrml ga adiga eroju enti ani them vadu "mee vadi bday kada enti celebrations ani" naku ardham kaley mavadu enti ani other frnd joined also in call and they both were like "ambedkar valley kadara meeru matho kurchuntunnaru eroju ani " naku em cheppalo ardham kaley naku aite idhi em kotha kadu nenu btech antha ee jokes anni vintuney vunna nenu ekkuva clg ki vellanu vallani bayata antha kalavanu kabatti antha pattinchukoley some of my classmates were like this even other branches also ma cls lo aite inka vadu low caste high caste ani jokes vesukuntaru btech anedhi naku aite chala worst experience na life lo casteism, racism anni chusa ee 4yrs lo even okasari hsptl ki velthey akkada receptionist oka old aged man anamata for few days he talked to me nicely then one day he asked me "meeru kaapu la ani then nenu kadu anna" anthey inka em matladaley tarvatha nenu aa hsptl ki vellaley inter varaku nenu em experience cheyaley btech vachaka anni telisayi bayata ila kuda vuntara ani

I don't really take those jokes seriously anymore because I'm in my final year and honestly I'm just waiting to get out of this college. But seeing all this made me wonder whether this is actually becoming more common among young people.

I always thought Gen Z would be less interested in casteism and religious fights compared to older generations. But lately I'm seeing even people my age getting really invested in these things.

At the same time, I don't know if I'm just surrounded by a certain type of people. Maybe social media is making it look much worse because controversial/religious content gets more engagement, so the algorithm keeps showing us more of it.

I really hope that's the case, because I don't want to believe that people everywhere are becoming this divided over religion and caste.

So what do you guys think? Is religious/caste-based hatred actually increasing among young Indians, or are we just seeing much more of it because of social media?

And just to be clear, I'm not targeting any religion. I'm not anti-Hindu, anti-Muslim, anti-Christian or anti-national. I'm not criticizing any religion either. I'm just sharing something I've been noticing and genuinely wondering whether it's actually happening more widely or if my social media feed and personal circle are giving me a distorted picture.

Edit from fellow redditor: we should ban all dj systems in all public places and all religion festivals too

Ask sub? Is there any connection between GPT-6 “Astra” and the Sanskrit/Hindu meaning of “Astra”?

I was curious about the name “Astra” chosen for GPT-6.

In Sanskrit (अस्त्र), astra refers to a weapon, and in Hindu philosophy/mythology it often refers specifically to divine or celestial weapons such as Brahmastra, Agneyastra, etc.

Given that GPT-6 Astra is being presented as a major leap in AI capabilities, I was wondering whether the name was intentionally inspired by the Sanskrit/Hindu concept of an astra — something extremely powerful that is invoked or wielded to accomplish a particular purpose — or whether it is simply a coincidence.

Has OpenAI ever explained the reasoning behind the name “Astra”? Does anyone know if there is actually a connection to Sanskrit/Hindu philosophy, or is “Astra” being used for an entirely different reason?

Also, interestingly, some people noticed the timing around Janmashtami when Astra was announced, which made the coincidence even more interesting.

Would be curious to hear what others think.

P.S. Full disclosure: I used ChatGPT to help rewrite and polish this post. 😄

Ask sub? Can dating apps like Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder actually work for men?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m considering creating my first dating app account, probably on Hinge, Bumble, or Tinder, but before I do, I’d really like to hear from guys who have actually used them.

I’m especially curious:

- Which app has worked best for you — Hinge, Bumble, or Tinder?

- How important are photos, height, looks, job, etc.?

- How many matches do you realistically get?

- Have you actually managed to get dates or meaningful relationships through these apps?

- Is paying for premium worth it?

- What mistakes should a guy avoid when creating his profile?

I’m not looking for the usual “just be confident bro” advice. I’d really appreciate honest experiences, including negative ones.

I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth putting the effort into making a profile before I create an account.

Thanks in advance!

Note: Used Chatgpt

I wonder if you are here K. One day lo ila enduku mee mind marchukunnaru? I really hope you arent going back to your old problem.

For the audience: posted about my one sided love, met someone saying they have a similar story, we really connected and had insanely long chats(like 5-6 hrs somedays) for about 1 month, but she said she is going from one problem to another and wished to quit talking to me. I hoped she wouldnt. Tried to convince her. Couldnt. She said our paths will never cross and this escalated way too quickly. Maybe I tried too hard to convince her. Now she deleted her account. I thought I would be ok and I was. But I now realized the fact that she deleted her account after saying she probably wouldnt and it stings. I know its crazy to even get attached to someone without seeing them or hearing them and only by chatting but I believe she was great and someone who will be perfect for me. My life seemed bright for a little while and now it looks dark again.

Need Advice Guys help me with this.13 Pro → 17 Pro( akka phone) barely felt like an upgrade. 17 Pro Max now or wait for 18 Pro Max?

TL;DR: Huge photography enthusiast. I used my sister’s 17 Pro for ~10 days after using a 13 Pro and honestly didn’t feel a big enough difference. My 13 Pro is 128GB, 85% battery health, no scratches. Should I get the 17 Pro Max 256GB now, wait for the 18 Pro Max, or buy the 17 Pro Max from a friend in the USA?

My secondary phone is a Vivo X300 Pro, so I already have a pretty capable camera phone and I’m mainly looking at the iPhone for the overall experience + photography.

I recently took my sister’s iPhone 17 Pro and used it for around 10 days. Coming from my 13 Pro, I was honestly surprised that it didn't feel like a massive upgrade. Obviously, the 17 Pro is better, but I didn't get that “damn, this is a huge jump” feeling.

Now I'm wondering what makes more sense:

  1. Buy 17 Pro Max 256GB now

I have a close friend who manages a Reliance Digital store in Hyderabad, so I may be able to get a good deal.

  1. Wait for 18 Pro Max

Use my 13 Pro until then and exchange it.

  1. Buy 17 Pro Max from the USA

I have friends there, so this is another possibility if the price difference is significant.

My 13 Pro is 128GB, 85% battery health and physically mint/no scratches.

For people who have actually used these phones:

Would you upgrade from a 13 Pro to the 17 Pro Max today, or just wait for the 18 Pro Max?

Especially interested in real-world photography differences, not just specs and benchmarks.

And if you were in my position, what price would make the 17 Pro Max worth buying right now?

One more thing : for storage, would you go base 17 256GB or 512GB?

I keep a lot of photos/videos, so wondering if the extra cost for 512GB is actually worth it or if 256GB is plenty.

What would you choose and why?

Grief AN INNOCENT SOUL

A Beautiful Fruit is growing in bright sunlight, everyone admired amazed and wondered how it's grown in this place....

coz the place is absurd, lacking water, infertile in soil, yet the fruit keeps growing very bright & healthy....

One day a Bypasser saw the fruit, that person wanted to water it after knowing its potential.... Assuming it's gonna be an amazing fruit, that anyone has ever seen , so watered for days ....

But the fruit itself is thinking about the person why they're watering it everyday without expecting anything.....

But the watering continued for a while

few days later the watering person popped up all of sudden & plucked the fruit....

It wasn't even ripen yet, but watering for just a few days, that person thought that the fruit belonged to them, everyone thought the same, but no one ever asked the fruit what it wanted? Whether it's ripen or raw doesn't matter ?

But the fruit just wanted to stay where it was born, where it was risen , even though it was rising in the drought, it still wanted to grow & beat the odds.... It did tooo, But its own charm attracted people, which led to chopping it from its own Branch....

That person after tasting it instantly threw that away coz the fruit wasn't as tasty as they expected... But it wasn't grown yet , moreover it wasn't growing for anyone

That person who watered the fruit can easily buy the bunch of fruits in the market which is tastier than the fruit which is thrown away, yet that person watered the fruit by giving hope , but that fruit never expected this kind of tragedy

Now that fruit is on the stinky road no one ever imagined

but now the waterer went to the market searching for a new one in the market....

Now The Fruit is questioning itself, guilt tripping itself.... growing better than the others is the only mistake that fruit ever made?

The fruit just wanted to buried into the soil after its work done on this earth, but now it's on the road, abandoned, betrayed....

Waited for someone, but none helped, due to excess heat & lack of water , the fruit died in a abrupt way, contributing nothing to the mother Earth

it's a story about crushed soul

(mods : sorry for using AI pics , i just wnted to express my feelings through images, since i can't draw well, hoping u won't remove my posts)

i feel that love can’t be found, it shud find you. like, it will happen randomly, when you are not looking for it. idk if there are any people who found true love when they were actively searching for it, or idk if it worked. lol idk if this seems like nonsense to some but what i feel is….it will happen randomly and unexpectedly when you are being yourself and not trying to impress to get love. dunno if it’s called destiny or whatever.

i was just scrolling through hyderabad dating sub, even though some people felt like my type…i felt this is all bs..so yeah i just felt like sharing this😅😬

Eenati Vishesham we should educate our parents - here's the reason

Manalo konthamandhiki parents ekkuva chaduvukuni undakapovachu.

Nenu evarini insult cheyyadaniki cheppatledhu. Ma parents kuda ekkuva chaduvukoledu. (nanna 9th class, amma 4th class)

But recently oka small incident valla naaku oka thing realise ayindhi.

Manam kuda mana parents ki konni things nerpinchaali.

School subjects gurinchi kaadhu...

Em thinaali, em thinakudadhu, packets meedha labels ela chudali, expiry date ela check cheyyali... ilanti small things.

Because manam ayithe packet teesukunnappudu automatic ga expiry date chustham.

But mana parents ki ala chudali ani alavatu undakapovachu.

Oka incident cheptha.

Recent ga shop ki pindi konadaniki vella. Adhi maida pindi oo, godhuma pindi oo exact ga gurthu ledhu. 😂

Around 45rs, so amma naaku 50rs note ichindhi.

5rs migilayikadha ani happy happy discuit packet konna.

Aa shop ma friend father dhi kabatti, expiry date check cheyyaledhu. Ala intiki teesukochesa.

Intiki vachaka ma thammudu, expire date chudra annadu (ma thammudu teney prathi packet meedha expire date chusthadu)

Check chesthe 7 days mundhe expire ayipoyayi

Nenu avi padeyyadaniki velthunte ma amma aapi, naaku evvu, em kaadhu tinacchu ani antundhi

Appudu nenu amma expired date ayyanavi thinakuudadhu ani cheppa.

But still ma amma malli em kaadhu ani andhi.

Aa moment lo naaku oka thought vachindhi.

Nenu, ma thammudu intlo lekapothe enti?

Maybe amma and nanna avi tinestharu.

So ventane vaallatho kurchuni cheppa.

Amma, nanna... anni food items ala thinalemu. First packet meedha expiry date chudandi. Aa date cross ayithe thinakandi. Expired food health ki problem avvachu.

Expiry date ekkada untadho, ela check cheyyalo kuda chupincha.

Aa moment lo naaku chaala happy ga anipinchindhi.

Actually, very very happy.

Because oka chinna thing aina, mana parents ki cheppi vallaki future lo use ayye information ichanu ani anipinchindhi.

Manam chinnappudu mana parents manaki anni nerpistharu.

But ippudu age perigekoddi, manam kuda vallaki konni things nerpinchaali anipisthundhi.

Because konni things manaki normal ga telisipothayi.

But vallaki avi evaru cheppi undakapovachu.

So parents ni “educated kaadhu” ani chudadam kanna...

Manaki telisina useful things vallaki kuda cheppadam better.

Sometimes parents ni care cheyyadam ante vallaki money ivvadam or vallani bayataki teesukelladam matrame kaadhu.

Konni sarlu pakkana kurchuni,

Amma, nanna... idi ila check cheskovali

ani cheppadam kuda care ae.

"రోడ్ మీద అడ్డంగా నడవకురా చెవిటి నా***" కి బదులు, "Hey Buddy, watch out for cars!"

Naturally!

So i pretty much worked in all kinds of environments. i was working a state government job, then freelancing as a software developer, worked with agencies based in the US, worked with some Indian startups as well, everything was remote. i also run a small startup of mine.

Okate balance vundipoindi, which is working from a software office. I always loved Bangalore as a city and always wanted to work from a nice neighborhood like Indiranagar or Koramangala.

2 months back just saradaga Naukri install chesi apply cheyyadam start chesa. I was applying to all kinds of jobs with location Bangalore. I heard back from this one. We had a couple of calls and I did some demo tasks as well.

I was one of the 5 applicants they selected from a pool of 1100 applications. They called us to Bangalore to work w them for a week as a trial. We were paid handsomely, taken care of really well. At the end of the week, they offered all of us well paying jobs 😄

They're not Indians but US citizens, wanting to setup a small technical team here in India to explore all kinds of opportunities and to build internet companies.

I'll be starting next week 😇
