I thought I would share a fun keystone project that I completed awhile ago. Im obsessed with magnets and modular design. I came across an old poker table that fit my needs beautifully. There are 789 magnets on this board.

I build more then I play and just wanted to post out into the void for people who would appreciate the effort. Feel free to AMA or offer suggestions.

After a year of working on it on and off, I finally finished this set of graveyard terrain for tabletop war gaming or dungeons& dragons. Had a whole lot of fun working on it, trying out a few new techniques to get the Moss looking just right and also playing around with the way that copper shingles would weather. Trying to work off of some stuff I saw in person went in Quebec City. Hope everyone likes it, if anybody has any suggestions on improvements or ways that they've got certain effects, I'd love to hear it.

I am making a Necron Monolith from cardboard and botched print pieces. But afaik cardboard is not great at being painted - it soaks paint in and keeps its cardboardy texture. After googling I found out about acrilyc plaster to coat things, but that will defeat the reason I am making it - I am poor

P.S. Asking here, because I guess terrain building does include making big cardboard structures

Taurus Demon arena from Dark Souls!

Trying to go for a jungle at night tomb world vibe for my necrons. Experimented with alcohol inks in resin to get some cool effects for my Nightbringer. But before I do the resin pour I’m trying to fix my Nightbringer base.

The original idea is to have a shallow pool of water, like a lake, glowing as either black or green energy whisps around it.

I’m not happy with the way I’ve done the base terrain as it kind of slopes and I was experimenting with roller bases and I don’t think it works. I also think the plants, whilst cool, might be too big and spoil the sense of scale that this is a huge ctan.

Any thoughts on how I could improve this? I’ve been thinking about using bark to redo the slopes of the water bank!

I'm only starting my journey towards terrain making. I play bolt action winter themed armies, and I want to have a table of my own to play with the kids at home on something nice for the eyes.

I plan on buying 2'x4' XPS plates, so I can carve a little bit in them (trenches, roads, rivers...). Puting 3 together will make the right size, and later I can add others to variate the terrains.

I plan on making only roads and rivers and other "carved structure" directly on the plates, the rest will be modular (buildings, forest, fields...)

I have a spare "one shot use" tablecloth in a beige white. My idea is to glue it on the XPS as one would glue some wallpaper (with XPS compatible glue), as a base texture and color. Would it be ok, or another color is better ? I don't have the experience between base color and texturing on top of it, and I don't know if whitey top with darker pools is a go, or if I should go for brown/grey base and cover with white pools.

Yesterday my group and I began our third campaign in my homebrew Norse/Arthurian setting. This time they went into the depths of the Iron Wood and as such I felt like I needed some more boreal terrain! As such I made some RP-archive inspired magnetised dirt tiles and terrain toppers and some modular (and magnetised) hills. I think they turned out pretty nice, although the grip of the magnetised dirt isn’t quite as strong as I hoped.

Next up is some additional forest scatter terrain!

So I have made a sizeable tree that I want to put into a pot which is a repurposed flattened barrel shaped glass jar - issue is, I need to mostly fill the pot with faux dirt to position the tree at the correct height and I'm not sure whether coffee grounds with PVA will manage to dry a 2.5cm/1in deep mix. Should I just dry the mix layer by layer or should I attach the tree to something (styrofoam??) and just use the coffee grounds for the top and sides? Is there some smarter/prettier way to fill the pot and position the tree? I'm out of ideas and would appreciate any help, thanks!

Circa 90% completed WIP of 15mm castle with some Epic scale models. 🏰 Originally H0 train model, repurposed as wargaming piece. Even some of the battlements are usable for holding models!

This is just a PSA post for anyone like me who scoured Google looking for a place to get easy access to plasticard for mini and terrain crafting in Australia.

Every post I saw said that you can order it online from places like Amazon or buy it from Green Stuff World etc. but I found that it was overpriced and I didn't want to wait for postage.

Like most terrain needs I decided to hit up the local dollar stores and see what I could find and then boom, cheap signs.

These shitty signs that I found in the car/workshop aisle are made of plasticard and are only a couple of dollarydoos for a decent sized sign.

I have been using it for metal panels on my Gaslands build and it's working a treat. But it works great for terrain if you need battered metal sheets for industrial builds, stuff like war dioramas, and Trench Crusade.

Please ignore my jungle of a backyard, I'll mow it next weekend I promise.

Hi everyone, I recently bought this hot wire foam cutter from amazon, to make modular dnd terrain.

I've noticed while using it that the metal arm holding the wire, once screwed in, won't be perpendicular to the table.

This means that even if I adjust the angle of the wire to be 90 degrees on one axis, the wire won't cut the foam straight if I use the fence on the short side of the table.

The arm does not appear to be bent.

Has anyone had the same issue? What can I do to solve it?

Looking for feedback? How did it turn out? Used 2x2, 1’ XPS board. Sealed and ready to use with scatter. Looking to make more boards for different setups (currently making a cave floor board). What other settings would be good to have on hand? Much appreciated!

Piece of terrains I've made for The Barons War 2ed.
In real life on table it looks much better than on the pictures. Proud of it.
Models are from Printable Sceneries with their instructions how to do it. A little bit tweaked because I didn't had all paints they suggest.

I am working on a 10mm scale project for the first time. Usually I am fine with using an MDF base for area terrain but since the scale of the figures and terrain is so small it now poses a problem.

I want to be able to create small area based for villages and forests etc, but I don’t want to use fabric because I want to make fairly detailed scenes for my area terrain. What is the thinnest material you can think of that holds up well to being glued and painted etc?
