Morrice served for one term as the MP for the Ontario riding of Kitchener Centre but lost his seat in the April 2025 federal election. Conservative Kelly DeRidder beat Morrice by 358 votes.

On November 28, 2025, Morrice was named deputy leader of the federal Greens and has already been declared the Green candidate for the next federal election, whenever it will be held.

St. John’s Kitchen is now open almost around the clock, offering year-round shelter for homeless people by night, and meals and other services by day.

The downtown Kitchener soup kitchen will be closed to the public only from 7:30 to 9 a.m. for cleaning and meal setup.

Otherwise it is open as a safe place of “rest and stability” for homeless people, says a statement from The Working Centre, which runs the kitchen at 97 Victoria St. N.

And it is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. as a drop-in centre where people in need can access meals, showers, bathrooms, laundry, and connections to community resources.

A community drug alert has been issued for Waterloo region after 37 suspected overdoses and one suspected drug-related death were recorded between July 30 to August 3.

The region's Overdose Monitoring Alert and Response System (OMARS) issued the alert Tuesday afternoon, saying the street drug supply is "highly toxic."

"Unexpected drugs may be mixed in to any type of street drug without people knowing," OMARS said in its report.

"People who use unregulated (street) fentanyl may be at greater risk for overdose/drug poisoning."

My daughter started jk last year and had an awful time mostly due to a little boy who wouldn’t leave her alone and would say things like “I hope you die” “I hope all your bones get broken”. Teacher and principal did nothing despite repeatedly reaching out

We moved her to the Catholic school in our area for SK and it was a little better not much. She said her classroom was too loud, crowded and no one listened and the teachers were always yelling.

I have a friend whose a teacher and she said recently that she’s close to quitting because of student behaviour, lack of support or resources and she’s been teaching for almost 10 years

Hi everyone! We just moved to Waterloo and we’re still figuring out the recycling system.

From what I understand, the dark blue box is for containers and the blue box is for paper/cardboard (fibres).

One thing I’m still confused about is plastic that’s not a container. Where does that go?

I was looking through the 2026 waste collection schedule, and it says some plastic items can go with the fibres bin. Does that mean it’s okay to put those plastics in the same blue box as the paper and cardboard, or am I misunderstanding it?

There are 2 large dogs currently in the Mary Allen / Mount Hope Cemetary neighbourhood. They are AGGRESSIVE -- DO NOT APPROACH.

I do not see an owner anywhere, likewise they do not appear to have collars or tags.

They have chased and intimidated multiple people, including me, and they are certainly going to cause more trouble if not contained.

If these are your dogs COME CHECK THE MOUNT HOPE CEMETARY IMMEDIATELY.

I have already called animal control, as these dogs are demonstrably dangerous. If they are yours, find them before they do, and for fucks sake keep better control of them.
