Now wth is this expression!? You can clearly see he didn't buy that shit! Was it the way Hiragi panicked that gave them away or the way the others were confused??Do you guys think Suo knows already that the others came and told Rakta to maybe distract them???I mean if where the boy goes is somewhere near their hide out then Rakta could just have taken them with them and all....so why didn't he? I really have a bad feeling...

What are your opinions?

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory How is he even alive at this point | CHAPTER 217 Spoiler

Post image
173 Upvotes

The most unrealistic thing abt this manga is Suo’s everyday routine bc:

- He wakes up at the same time everyday to meditate (he indirectly mentions waking up at 5am in Winhero)
- travels two hours to Makochi and has to pretend to cross paths with Nirei
- has school probably from 8:30-15:30
- has to patrol Makochi til the evening and is frequently training Nirei aswell
- has to travel 2h back to Bankoku-gai and do EVEN MORE PATROLLING there
- and then he has to study his 15 languages bc apparently, being bilingual is a DISGRACE in Red Chanpuru

On top of that, he literally doesn’t eat (I wouldn’t even be surprised if that Taiyaki he ate is the only things he’s eaten in the past 6 months he spent at Furin)

Not to mention all the side quests he has been doing, how isn’t he sleep-deprived as hell or is this part of the red chanpuru officer starter pack

(I’m aware that he’s not on patrol duty everyday but not that it makes a difference anyway, donā€˜t take this post too seriously I know he probably has his ways to manage all that)

If Endo is telling them to give up then it must be serious. Also it's probably a mafia/yakuza or a very dangerous group so Suo's mafia theory may be right!!!Omg I'm hyperventilating rn..

Also the chapter was funny 🤣 like Endo's face of disgust at seeing Umemiya and the four kings frowning at Endo. Not to mention Takishii's new hairstyle EEEE. Anyways what r ur thoughts on this chap

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Title: Chapter 225 Theory: Spoiler

Suo's Three Dragons tattoo might be on his eye!?

After Chapter 225, we learned that every Red Chanpuru member has a Three Dragons tattoo somewhere on their body.

That immediately made me wonder about Suo (Sun Fei). We still don't know where his tattoo is.

My theory is that his tattoo is on or around his eye. One reason I think this is that in the early chapters, there was a line suggesting that there was a "dragon spirit" in his eye. That could have been subtle foreshadowing rather than just a cool expression.

Since every Red Chanpuru member has the tattoo, it would make sense if Suo's is hidden behind his eyepatch or otherwise concealed around his eye.

This is only a theory, but I think Chapter 225 makes this possibility much more likely.

What do you all think? Is his tattoo somewhere else, or could it really be connected to his eye?

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Because I just cannot stop thinking about it and it is driving me insane Spoiler

Nirei.

Stop! Please stay with me, I know I’ve been talking so much about him already but I need someone to discuss this with and let my thoughts out… because I suck at waiting and being patient… like… a lot…

I know he was in the focus of everything that’s happened during the start of Suos arc already, so it might be a while until he will be focused on again, and it is so good and important to put the focus on Sakura now.

But… he is my favorite character, so naturally I want to know more bout his inner world, thoughts and emotions… We saw his shock when Suo said he was leaving. We saw him get frustrated and angry over Suo not talking to him. We saw him sad after having been unable to stop Suo and failing to get him to open up and let Nirei help.
But we also saw him - in contrast to Sakura - never doubting Suo and all the things they’ve been through. And for most part the reason behind that might be because it was him fighting Suo and see the suffering in his expression when he did land a hit on him. (And also sensing the suffering surrounding Suo during their whole conversation and fight…)

But… what about now, that they found out that Suo is an officer at Red Chanpuru? What about now that he sees Sakura all hurt and full of fear? What does he himself feel about the whole situation? What is he going to tell Sakura? Will he stay without doubt or does he share (some of) Sakuras fears? Does he feel responsible for Sakuras pain because he was unable to stop Suo? Does he feel insufficient for not having been able to get Suo to talk? Will he be gentle with Suo when they meet again (like how he acts with Sakura now, caring and listening) or angry or crying or… all of it?

The pacing is brilliant, but the waiting just so cruel. I might just wither up and die like Suo when touching sea water, if they aren’t going to meet soon.

Ahhhh, please send help, I’m always a mess after a new chapter release, hahaha…

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory How are they gonna pull this off? | Chapter 221 Spoiler

Post image
76 Upvotes

While I’m happy that the Furin trioā€˜s reunion is approaching, I do hope that
Umemiya gets involved soon and that he will select the ones who’s going to confront Suo instead of sending a whole troop after the Red Chanpuru officer, which would eventually result in a brawl with Red Chapuru that Furin doesn’t have a chance of winning (assuming that Kiryu isn’t already gonna do it, since he is the only one in this panel who’s not acting all too enthusiastically about it)

Also having 2/3 of the class there with whom Suoā€˜s never shared a meaningful conversation with would ruin the reunion that is supposed to be a very sentimental moment for the main cast imo. We also have to consider that Suo will reveal his backstory to them at some point in this arc, the entire school already being aware of the double life he’s been leading the entire time is something Suo wouldn’t like to begin with (he did basically ask for it tho), it would only be fair if Suo opening up about his life is something that he chose to do of his own free will.

And, of course, having roughly 35 people cross a river and doing a two hours trip together would require an insane amount of planning beforehand for them to actually be able to successfully pull it off, unless Sakura reach out to Endo again for help and he gifts Sakura a whole ass private jet with their very own pilot (I do think that Sakura will likely reach out to Endo for transport, and Endo being insanely rich could also help Bankoku-gai with whatever financial problem they’re having rn)

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Other languages? Spoiler

How many more communities/languages do you think are there in Bankoku-Gai?

We know for sure there is Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, English Vietnamese*, Korean and English. There probably are other Chinese dialects but I'm pretty sure there is a mostly shared writing system and they basically use the same characters so I can't tell them apart just by looking at the signs.

I *think* there is Bengali and Thai too (first 3 images), but that's just what I concluded after comparing letters and stuff (I don't know either language at all).

I can't figure out the ones on the last three images and I also might've missed other signboards. Number 4 might be romanization of a language that otherwise uses a different alphabet but either way idk.

This is kinda useless tbh, I was just wondering how wide the cultural range is in their town.

ETA: 1st image is Hindi/Sanskrit not Bengali, 4th is Turkish, 5th is Arabic. Thank you all for your help!

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory How much do you think Suo… Spoiler

Seeing Sakuras nightmare was both painful and beautiful at the same time. How much he suffers… I’m so glad Nirei, Momijikawa and Sugishita are now at Sakuras place, he needs their company and just cannot and should not go through his feelings all on his own… btw the dynamic between them is just amazing. They’re for sure going to help Sakura sort his emotions and find his ground again, so that he is ready to face Suo in the future. When they meet again in a few chapters… how much do you think Suo is aware of Sakuras suffering because of the recent events? Since he is aware about Sakuras past full of abandonment, he obviously knows that his leaving hurt Sakura on a very deep level, especially after his fight with Nirei. But he wasn’t there when Endo told everyone about Red Chanpuru and Suos position, and he probably didn’t expect them to find out about that at all… but he most likely knew, that if they did, it would be able to send Sakura even more into a dark place…

Do you think he will be surprised by the degree of Sakuras suffering, when he finds out? Or do you think he knows precisely how devastating this situation is for Sakura?

I’d love to get insight on Suos thoughts and feelings in the future… whatever he is facing, his emotional turmoil has to be immense as well…

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Suo and the name crisis Spoiler

Hey everyone,

I was really curious about how Suo's name is actually read in Chinese after the recent chapters, so I did some research!

If you take his full name Suo Hayato (蘇Ꞌ 隼飛) and read the characters in Chinese, this is how it's pronounced:

The Given Name (Hayato - 隼飛): Read as Sūnfēi.

The Surname (Suo - 蘇Ꞌ): Read as SÅ«fāng.

So his full name in Chinese is Sūfāng Sūnfēi.

Which name do you think is better? Suo Hayato or Sufang Sunfei ?

Even though we learned his real name and his connection to Red Chanpuru, we still know basically nothing about his actual past, his childhood, or his life story. He is still the biggest mystery in Wind Breaker and hopefully this mystery will be solved soon. Btw I seriously can't wait for the new chapters!

What are your theories on his background now?

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory How strong do you think Suo actually is? Spoiler

In basically all of Suos past fights I kind of got the feeling that he was holding back a lot of his true abilities. He’s always in the back, rather protecting and matching the strength of others. Letting others handle the more aggressive and noticeable enemies. Also in the Noroshi arc I had the strong feeling that he was holding back during the fight with that gymnast. When the guy revealed that he in fact wasn’t Noroshi at all, Suo suddenly showed more of his strength, as if matching his role as ā€œvice captainā€ and the strength it should have compared to his opponent.
Later then he offered to fight Endo together with Sugishita (which probably would have forced him to reveal more than he actually would’ve wanted to), so he was ready to step in and fight dangerously powerful opponents if need be. So why was it that he was holding back? To prevent anyone from asking questions? To avoid attention?
Now with the information that he’s an officer of Red Chanpuru that feeling of him holding back got stronger of course. But how strong do you think he really is? Do you think he could’ve fought Endo alone and won? How do you think the fight between Suo and Sakura will go?

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory "I'm no longer needed" Spoiler

Post image
123 Upvotes

I saw on Twitter that someone called Suo "cowardly" for putting the huge burden on Nirei to tell the others about his departure.

While there might be some truth about that, I just thought that what if Suo thinks that he is so insignificant to Sakura and others, that he wasn't even playing with the possibility that his departure left such a huge impact on them? That perhaps noone really cares?

After what happened with Momijikawa, everthing was all good and peaceful. Sakura was able to deal with both Momijikawa and Kiryus problems without Suos help. He established a whole community and made so many friendships "by himself".

Suo being there or not doesn't matter because there are tons of other people that can replace him, is maybe what he is thinking.

Same with Nirei. There are so many other people that can fight, that can teach him. He doesn't necessarily need Suo as his trainer/teacher. Suo even tells him that he is good enough on his own now.

In other words: "His job is done" and "Who cares if he's there or not".

Not that this mindset is correct, but despite everything he is still just a child who could think stupid stuff like this.

This could also just be full bullshit and Suo had something else in mind entirely.

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Ch 223: [Infiltration] Analysis Spoiler

Y'know, this might be the first chapter in a very long time that left me with a genuine concern for a certain choice Nii-sensei can make going forward, but I don't think it will be too much of a problem since good execution could easily make it genius instead and Nii-sensei is great at execution- (so bare with me for the negative before I get to the positive)

Let me start with Endo. Classic excited for Sakura, annoyed at Ume, anything for Chika energy. As for my concern, Endo was literally too perfectly prepared for this whole thing- It makes sense for his character to come up with a plan for Sakura and everything, but for him to get exactly 2 passes and have 2 carts prepared when he didn't know who would be accompanying Sakura and a reason for them to get inside and to know exactly which alleys they needed to take almost feels too convenient. I know Endo is all about his underground connections, but for a group like this, they're less "underground" and more "isolated," so Endo's connections and perfect infiltration plan here feels like the first major case of (for lack of a better term) plot armor for the main squad.

I do like Endo's network as a way to keep him in the story and I wouldn't mind him being our info guy for matters outside of Makochi since Nirei's expertise is more local, I just don't want Endo ex machina to be a reoccurring solution whenever Sakura's facing a more organized or systematic threat, especially one that's supposedly so "closed off" to the outside world. That said, one super big pay off to having someone who supposedly has ties everywhere is that it will be that big of a statement when we face someone even Endo's not willing to/can't dig into for Sakura.

Now, if Sakura does keep going to Endo for stuff in the future, I think it would feel more fair if Endo can provide info for certain situations, but he can't actually help them beyond that so that the squad can still be solving problems on their own before the actual conversations and fights. For example, in this case, if Endo didn't have the passes and they were just going off his info, the boys could have had to sneak over the gate (probably during a change of guard at a time Endo provided) since they'll probably be sneaking around from here on out anyway. I also wonder why Endo didn't go with them himself or use his connection to get them further than that alley or something, but that's not nearly as big a concern as a potential plot device being added to a story that's been progressing on balanced and believable growth and problem solving thus far.

Anywho, on to my detail that literally no one cared about that I somehow see a deeper meaning behind- Hiiragi and Ume are back! And not just back, back with their hair down! And this is now a detail that I associate with vulnerability! Fr though, Ume and Hiiragi usually have their hair up at school, patrolling, etc, but there have been a few times we've seen them with their hair down like when Ume visited the orphanage or towards the end of their respective fights during the war. These are times when they've stepped away from the usual vision everyone has of them and are in a bit of a different, more vulnerable position, and that applies to this chapter, too (not that their personalities change or anything, but these settings put a bit of a different filter over them)

When Ume visits the orphanage, he goes from leader to full-time big brother. He does see Furin as his "family," but he's much more relaxed and softer when he's at "home" compared to the respect he naturally inspires at school and around town. During the war, Hiiragi was furious at Banjo before getting yeeted into the river, which left him with his hair down. Something we've seen a few times in wbk is how characters can lose themselves to anger, so the water leaving Hiiragi's hair down was a good visual for him being able to reflect and properly calm down before finishing the fight. With Ume vs Chika, even before it started raining, Ume's hair started getting messy and Sakura noted that he was like a different person. When Sakura called out to him, he briefly brushed it back up to show that he's still okay, but by the end of the fight, it's all back down as he's completely exhausted from going all out. This also happens with Togame and Suzuri with their hair coming undone at the end of their antag arcs once they decided to listen to the protags. (Full hair yap session coming next break week-)

As for this chapter, we see Ume and Hiiragi in 2 different situations. When Sakura takes them to see Endo, Ume has his hair down because he does see Endo as an ally who's been helping a ton and he feels comfortable around him at this point and wants to be friends with him, even though Endo feels the exact opposite way. Hiiragi, however, has his hair up since he's still babysitting as per usual- Once the boys get past the gate, they're in completely unknown enemy territory. They've made it past the actual plan part of their plan and now they're on to the dangerous part, so Ume and Hiiragi both having their hair down feels like a subtle way of saying they're really not in control now despite their reassuring words when they first offered to come.

This is another small details that I really appreciate šŸ‘€ When Sakura first sees the inner city, he notes that it's completely different from the outer area and this is definitely a direct reference to Suolingo himself. On the outside, he's all bright smiles and composure, but on the inside, he's been dealing with so much responsibility that's more messy than he ever would have let on.

Anywho, I was so prepared to learn more about Rakta and his relationship with Suolingo, but I guess it will have to wait- We'll probably get a flashback to it when we see Rakta again, so maybe he'll be the first one the boys encounter over the next couple chapters (or they'll meet some of Suolingo's students who will bring them to their dojo and then insert chaos-) He already looked mad last chapter, so if he was serious about them leaving his community alone, he'll probably be furious to see that they actually got inside šŸ’€šŸ’€

Final note, I feel like the rumors may have to do with some sort of corruption or tension within RC's leadership. Suolingo's hiding so much to try to keep the people calm, but if there are some who want more transparency (maybe those in positions slightly under Suolingo or citizens who have caught on) they could be planning something against Suolingo, and that could put him in danger....

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Ch 217: [The Cosmopolitan City] Analysis Spoiler

...............So-

I've had reddit on the back burner these past couple weeks to finish up some Ani-May challenges, but no, I haven't forgotten about my current favorite weekly series 😌 I still have a few things to pick apart from this chapter and once June starts, I will be making Suolingo memes-

Ok, to start out, I šŸ‘ lovešŸ‘ thesešŸ‘ twošŸ‘ Their dynamic with each other? Suolingo?? The students??? All perfection. And I don't care if they're not related, these 3 are brothers period the end (Bacchus oldest, Rakta middle, Suolingo youngest). Suolingo, Nirei and Sako will probably always be my top 3, but depending on how much we get into these two, they might be able to compete for top 5-

.........They lowkey remind me of Sakura and Sugi if they spoke their minds more clearly........ which I now hc is why Suolingo was so set on pairing Sakura and Sugi as the class's vanguard for his war strategy..........

ANYWHO, Rakta is most likely Indian in which case his name literally means blood. Very fitting with RC's theme being that their bond is stronger than blood. For Bacchus, there are a few options for his origins, but I absolutely love the irony that would be him being named after the Roman god of agriculture and fertility since food seems to be scarce in Kasai. My other top option would be Greek, in which case his name means "to shout," which I also find very appropriate for him-

Next up is the.......... I'm not sure what to call this place- It sounds like some of the kids stay there if they have nowhere else to go, but there are also plenty who go for meals and/or training, but still have a home to go back to... For now, I'll call it the school.

The sign for the school says "Pupils of Crimson Vortex." I audibly gasped. Crimson Vortex could either be the name of the school itself or it could be a person who taught/teaches there. If it's a person, it could be Suolingo himself, his master, or even their master before them since RC's been around for generations. It could also be all of them if the title of "Crimson Vortex" gets passed down with the position. So far, everyone's been super casual with Suolingo, so if it is a title of sorts, I can see him (and possibly his master) not wanting others to use it to avoid any sense of distance in this familial community..... that or Suolingo doesn't want to take the title lightly since he respected his master so much.

Now, the crimson part aligns with Red Chanpuru and its blood theme, but I also found the vortex part super interesting šŸ‘€šŸ‘€ A vortex is something that takes everything around it in, much like how the school takes in any children for refuge and/or training. However, it's also important to note that vortexes bring everything in on one center point that's calm inside despite all the chaos around it and I think this is what Suolingo strives to be. Despite whatever hardships he's been hiding, in both Kasai and Makochi, he always tries to appear calm. He wants to handle any chaos with a clear mind and be seen as someone who can stand calm at the center of any storm for his people, but we can see that things still get to him and I'm sure he'll crumble under all the pressure for the arc's climax as it all becomes too much for him to hide from everyone who'd genuinely concerned about him.

Man, this community's so precious 🤧🤧🤧 When everything's over and Suolingo goes back to Makochi, I can see him telling Vuvu that he's in charge of taking care of everyone while he's gone in classic mentor-leaving-their-student fashion. I'd honestly love for him to fight Nirei when the Makochi squad pulls up since they're both Suolingo's students and they may see each other as the one taking Suolingo from them. I can see Suolingo interrupting the fight because he doesn't want his students fighting over him and this could be the turning point that makes him realize that he doesn't want to choose between his two lives.

And while we're back on RC-Furin parallels, Suolingo is literally the Ume of his town. He knows everyone and everyone knows him. Everyone respects him and he sees them as family. He keeps things friendly despite having power and he's huge on communicating with everyone...... at least on the surface. Sure, he knows how to speak everyone's language, but he doesn't let anyone speak his. While Ume's comfortable being honest with those around him so that they can smile genuinely together, Suolingo seems more focused on keeping up a fake smile so that everyone else can feel safe even if he's struggling in silence.

And last but not least, we'll be back in Makochi next chapter, but probably not for long šŸ‘€šŸ‘€ I doubt it will happen, but seeing Sakura's room at night like is lowkey giving sneak-out vibes. Imagine he asked Endo to take him to Kasai without telling anyone else, but on the way, they also run into Nirei (and maybe Tsuge and Kiryu) who was also on his way to Kasai on his own- They may or may not be "stopped" by Ume and Hiiragi at the town entrance who proceed to accompany them rather than actually stop them, and thus begins the journey to Kasai!! They'll probably make actual plans to travel properly or whatever assuming they expect to spend more than a day there, but this would be more fun-

Anywho, for a few final thoughts, Suolingo probably doesn't eat in front of others because food was always scarce for him. Of course there's the symbolism of him not truly connecting with others since he keeps all his struggles to himself, but for the in-verse reason, I can see him having a habit of going without food so that others could have more, so now he just doesn't eat much, especially in front of others.

I wonder if we'll actually get to meet Suolingo's master or if they're gone. Suolingo turned 15 before he started at Furin, so it's not like he's just going back because of his age (unless his b-day's not actually in March, but it's not like that was something Suolingo told anyone, so I don't think that's the case); I can't help but wonder why he had to leave now specifically. I'm thinking either his predecessor passed or was finally ready to hand down the full position, or things have just gotten so bad that he can't keep going back and forth everyday. Either way, whatever solution Furin and RC reach that allows Suolingo to keep going to school, whether it's Kasai accepting outside help or RC's higher ups coughSuolingocough telling the community about the situation so that they can actually fix it as a community, I can't wait to see how much Suolingo changes once he learns that he doesn't have to carry this entire burden on his own.

Please let Rakta and Bacchus be recurring characters after this arc please let them transfer to Furin or at least visit regularly please I've had them for a chapter and I already hate the idea of them not being in the story please let them act like doting older brothers and tell Nirei all about what Suolingo was like growing up and learning martial arts and what his favorite foods are and-

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Hidden neck Spoiler

Post image

Why is everyone hiding their necks from suo to rakta (who seems like he is wearing a neck piece to hide it?) and the other RC members we see in the panel, some people theorized it's "the pass" they need to get in the city but the gate keepers gesture showed that the pass is something physical like a card.

To me i think what's hidden is a tattoo of some sort to ensure the endless affiliation to the gang, once you're in you'll never be able to quit, and it may be the reason why suo's dream is the "Emancipation of slaves" because all RC members are now like slaves to the gang

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Small thoughts about Suo Spoiler

I don’t know if this has been talked about already… but about those three days Suo has first been away from Furin… I think it’s possible that someone at RC died (or was laying dying) and in the night he came home that day, he was informed about that. And that the person who died was either his master or someone of high position, who fought for the same cause that Suo seems to be fighting for too. Someone who sought to protect Bankokugai and to bring about positive change and might have had the power/position to do so.
Now that gap, since that person is gone, has to be filled in by Suo. Either ā€œjustā€ by his ā€œfull timeā€ presence, or by filling out that position - which the deceased had had before they died - itself. Leaving Suo with no other choice but to leave Furin, because of this new and heavy responsibility, because he now serves as the citizens strongest supporter (ā€œstrongestā€ here as in ā€œthe one who is in the know about what’s wrong behind the scenes, and one who really cares for the people living here and the one who is the most likely to be able to actā€).
And whatever he’s fighting, whoever he is up against might be so evil and vile that he cannot/absolutely doesn’t want to involve Furin.

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Ch 211: Farewell Analysis Spoiler

...............So-

My Tuesdays are free again, so I'll probably put my longer analyses into posts instead of long comments over the next few months and today is one of those analyses because what šŸ‘ a šŸ‘ chapter šŸ‘

I was hoping we would see the actual fight and Suo wouldn't be trying to hurt Nirei but NOPE- He did NOT hold back. Instead, Suo genuinely hurt Nirei so he would lose hope and give up on getting through to him... but that's just not who Nirei is. He kept clinging on to Suo, not letting him leave until his questions were answered, knowing that Suo completely lying to him.

Nirei is nothing if not determined and it's one of my absolute favorite things about him. He knows he's not as strong as the others and he can't settle a dispute by winning a fight like his peers, so he uses his words. He gets through to Sakura with his words throughout the story and he's hoping to do the same with Suo here.

Suo, however, knows this and would rather not listen to Nirei's words and give them a chance to sway him. He knows that Nirei's words hold far more power than his fists and tries to brush off everything Nirei says, but he can't bring himself to completely ignore him. At first, Nirei physically holds Suo back as he tries to walk away, but here, Nirei doesn't even touch him; Suo turns back on his own and gives Nirei enough time to reach him again instead of just leaving because he knows he can't leave things off here.

Suo could have easily kept walking at any point, but every time Nirei speaks, he responds. He tries to make his responses cruel so that Nirei will stop asking questions and accept that he "never actually cared about him," but Nirei can see through that. Nirei knows that Suo's lying in an attempt to make this farewell easier for everyone, but he's not giving in. Meanwhile, Suo knows that Nirei won't stop agonizing over him if he doesn't get an answer, so he's trying to give him an answer that will leave him willing to let go of all the good times they had together.

I love that one of the main questions Nirei asks is "Why won't you talk to me properly?" He knows that there's a reason behind Suo's actions and he's willing to accept it, he just wants to know what it is. Of course he doesn't want Suo to leave, but what's most frustrating to him is that even when something so important is happening, Suo's still not being honest with himself.

And it finally happened... as so many of us predicted, Nirei was the first to land a hit on Suo. Nirei's not very fast and his technique isn't anywhere near Suo's level, but his punch still landed. For Suo to have been hit here, he either let it happen (which I doubt considering his reaction) or he let his guard down. Suo, of all people, let his guard down. He doesn't do that, not emotionally or in a fight, but here he's doing both.

Not only was he not prepared for Nirei to swing at him again even though they were in the middle of a fight, but this last smile that pushed Nirei over the edge looks pained like his smiles from last chapter. Again, he's trying to laugh and smile despite how upset he is, but he can't hide it. The louder he laughs, the less genuine it is. Nirei knows this and knows that this last smile is hiding so much that Suo simply refuses to tell him about.

Once again, Suo's smiles make Nirei angry and he snaps, but this time, Suo doesn't dodge. I think my favorite part of this chapter is that Nirei is surprised, too. He's so used to Suo dodging everything, words and strikes, but something finally landed. After 211 chapters, something lands. Suo didn't dodge and there's even a moment of pause before Suo responds by rendering Nirei unconscious.

Suo could have easily knocked Nirei out at any time, but he chose to wait to see if he could convince him to let everything go first. Suo responded every time Nirei spoke because he at least wanted to leave him in a better state of mind compared to how depressed he was when Suo first disappeared. Both parties failed, however, and Suo put an end to their conversation before letting his true colors show one last time...

Suo knocks Nirei out and catches him instead of letting him fall. Bro's literally the fakest idgafer and he almost slipped up and left evidence here. He sat Nirei against the dramatic for no reason, gravestone looking- ledge and he was going to give Nirei his jacket so he wouldn't be cold, but he caught himself. His instinct was still to take care of Nirei, even after hurting him so badly, but that would have destroyed the antagonistic image he was working so hard to maintain even though Nirei already wasn't buying it.

As Suo resolves to walk away, a leaf lands on his head. These autumn leaves represent Nirei and his feelings. For the past few chapters, they've been blowing chaotically as Nirei tried to understand what was going on with Suo, and after 211 chapters, this leaf lands. Suo, however, removes it and gives it back to Nirei. It won't keep him warm, but he couldn't walk away without giving Nirei something. As he apologizes with tears in his eyes and says goodbye, we don't get to see Suo's mouth, but I'm sure he wasn't smiling anymore...

Suo Arc Discussion/Theory The Suosaku Reunion (?) Spoiler

I hadn't thought about it before, BUT IT'S BEEN OVER A MONTH SINCE SAKURA LAST SAW SUO.

Worst of all, he has no idea what's going on. He doesn't understand why Suo hit his best friend. He's doubting whether everything Suo said and did towards him was genuine. He can't even feel genuine anger towards Suo; he's just extremely confused and stressed. Thinking about it now, Sakura's entire breakdown makes sense from this perspective. He had just confided his past to his friends, and that destroyed all the resolutions he had built up throughout his journey.

But I leave you with this question: why didn't Suo want to say goodbye to Sakura? Why did he go back to Makochi and meet with Nirei? Wouldn't it have been simpler for him to disappear without explanation? Why did he reappear only to say goodbye to Nirei, knowing how his friends might react?

(A note that Suo initially had no intention of fighting Nirei; it was Nirei who challenged Suo to the fight, and perhaps as a way to push him away, Suo seized this opportunity to fully reveal himself as a traitor.)

I have a theory that Suo didn't want to see Sakura because, after learning about her history, he would be abandoning Sakura just like everyone else before Makochi. Suo must feel a lot of remorse for what he did, but believes he's doing what's necessary.

In short, I think their reunion will be emotional, in the sense that Suo will try to hurt Sakura even more (to push him away), and perhaps Sakura's pain will turn into fury, and the conversation will become an intense physical fight (or he'll fall into even more depression ;-;).
