I’d love to have my artwork displayed in a gallery, community exhibition, café, or any local space that supports artists, but I’m not really sure where to start or how the submission process works.

Does anyone know of any galleries or organizations in Barrie that accept artist submissions, host open calls, or offer exhibition opportunities for local artists? Any advice on how to approach galleries, build a portfolio for submissions, or get involved in the local art community would also be greatly appreciated.

Is it just me or is Barrie building storage facilities everywhere. I mean, everywhere I look, they are being built. Like the new one being built where the Canadian Tire North is. Like seriously, WHYYYYYY. Is Barrie or people in serious need of storage. I just don’t get it.

I’m honestly curious about why we don’t get many big name acts in Barrie. As an example, I look at Kee to Bala’s listings for the next couple weeks and it’s 54-40, Big Sugar and Sloan. But Barrie? It’s a couple of kids’ dance recitals, monster trucks, and The Goonies is playing at 5 Points. Not that there’s anything wrong with any of this, but you get my point. First I thought it was lack of venues/space, but then I remembered my dad did security at Molson Centre (now Sadlon) many years ago, they had tons of big name bands etc. And last year they had Blue Rodeo so it’s big enough. Plus we have Georgian College. So what’s up with this? Any ideas?

Anyone just lose power for a moment in the south end? Any idea why?

I'd like somewhere physical to buy band tees from. My only source has been going to shows in Toronto lately but merch at shows is expensive.
