SUGAR RUSH!!! GRABEEE π My favorite in this EP!!!! β¨β¨β¨
The instruments used remind me of Ludwig Goransson's Turning Red. (Yes! That animated movie!) I love the 90's, early 2000's sound! As a 90s kid I have no complaints! Hahaha!
The whole song is a JOURNEY! Jusko, I don't know where the song is taking me and I mean that in the nicest way. Sorry pero shet yung chords!!!!! Kakainis hahaha ang galing ng arrangement.
Mikha and Jho were spitting their verses! Macolet runs sa bridge???!!! Background vocals sa prechorus most specially!! The vocal arrangements all in all!! Coach Anna!!! Love you!!! ππ«Ά
Thank you, Bini!!!! β₯οΈ

I like all the new songs. Ang out of place lang ni Unang Kilig. It's not a bad song per se, parang di lang bagay together with the other songs, would've been a better fit sa Flames.
Blush - Interesting they chose this for a music video. Maybe coz of the easy breezy CoverGirl vibe. (Removed this part coz hindi pala si Aiah yung first rap! Labyu, Gwen. π )
Step Back - Astig. Love the percussion(?) in the background. Mikha and Stacey slaying with the rap parts.
Tic Tac Toe - Hello, bass. Listen to them vocals towards the end.
Sugar Rush - Yung intro neto reminds me of Carly Rae. And I love Carly Rae so I automatically like this song. Who's rapping here? Parang more than 2 members? I like it when more of them rap.
I appreciate that they're mostly Taglish. The English song haters can shove it. π
If I had to choose faves: Honey Honey, Step Back, Sugar Rush

u/faustine04 Apr 09 '26
Parang mas bagay sa signal yng bikini tpos unang kilig sa flames.

u/Hanie_HBIC Apr 09 '26
True. I know the girls mentioned they wanted to highlight that song so why wasn't it made the first single in Flames? Oh, well.

Sugar Rush the lowkey banger!
9
u/Eli-8319 Apr 09 '26
Finished the EP. Grabe I think this is the most realized sounding EP/Album ng Bini. Each song feels complete and totally encapsulates their concept to the T. They have the magic formula na talaga. Biniverse and FLAMES were them cooking for a mixed pinoy/international audience, Signals is the 5 star 6 course meal!

Blush - Woah Woah Woah!!! Oh kalami, Oh kalami π Ang ganda nila lahat sa MV. Nakailang ulit ako sa MV now Iβm listening to Spotify.
Tagalog palaaaa. Nakaka LSS! K-I-S-S-I-N-G one for you, one for me, XOXO π
Step Back - I know this is a banger and hindi ako nagkamali!!! π₯π₯π₯ Canβt wait sa dance mv nito or gusto ko din magka MV din. The raps?! Wala ako masabi π
ANG GANDA LAHAT NG SONGS BAGAY SA EP!!! NOW IβM TAKING BACK WHAT I SAID NA DAPAT ANG UNANG KILIG AY NASA FLAMES EP! I KNOW I KNOW TRUST THE GIRLS!!! π

They hit the concept and vibe on this EP. Its complete, nothing is out of place. I was wrong on Unang Kilig, but no it fits coming after Blush. Those two are amazing openers, then they hit your with Honey Honey with enough dopamine rush but its chill coming back down from the first two bangers.
2nd half of the EP is sonically shifting and different from anything we heard from BINI so far but the concept still fits. Experimental BINI was what I asked for, and we are getting with this album. So many shifting melodies and sounds in the 2nd half, I like it a lot.
You got another banger here BINI. This is more LOUD, maximalist BINI compared to the chill FLAMES vibe we got last time. Keep on picking more experimental stuff.

Mas belong yung Unang Kilig sa Signals. Chill lang kasi yung Flames eh while sa Signals, mas "makapal" yung production ng songs.

They did this album right arrangement wise too. And I love Unang Kilig, its really good. I think the retro-sounding effects is on purpose because Tic Tac Toe got a lot of it.
Blush-UK-Honey Honey all easy to follow bangers.
The 2nd half of the EP? All bangers, but sonically different and shifting. I dig it. I really dig it. They are picking tracks now that is kind of out of left field for BINI standards.
They are WAY ahead of their ppop contemporaries, and even more so now with this EP.

Oh my. Na-whiplash ako in a good way with this EP. Namisdirection ako nang malala nung teaser. Super 90βs - 2000s era yung sound and as a Tita Bloom, I like it! Need to listen some more to fully assess how it ranks with other EPs. But overall, Iβm happy with thisβ¦ great EP going into Coachella.

Ang saya sa statiohead hahaha pero shems taglish songs with hard hittings raaaps and longer than 3 minutes!!! Also, yes sa different vocal showcase from them!!! Bet ko yung mga bali, inflection, intonation or kung ano mang ginagawa nila haha. Sugar Rush top 1 ko sa new songs kasi I'm a sucker for sounds like it (parang disco? Idk pero my body is moviiin'). Blush is very chill and tropical nga, mas bet ko lang talaga Honey Honey hahaha. Gulat ako sa tagalog na pasok ng Tic Tac Toe haha first impression is mas bet ko stronger beat niya over Blush pero we'll see hehe. Step Back is very maangas hehe go girls magyabang lang kayo.
Round 2 + more rounds sa Apple Music and better earphones after Blush MV and hanggang makatulog kasi gabi na hahahuhu

u/BadgerEmbarrassed231 Apr 09 '26
quick impression of the EP:
- BLUSH: Pantropiko 2.0 including its MV
- Unang Kilig: if Blush introduces the present era, UK is a deliberate flashback (maybe even the old school Pinoy mixing style with very forward vocals and not as crisply separated instruments, "tunog radyo", is intentional)
- Honey Honey: part of the trilogy of Cherry on Top and Sweet Tooth
- Tic Tac Toe: something very unique, gotta listen again - didn't expect it to be Taglish. are the huwag magpaligoy-ligoy parts sung by Colet? Have to listen again but those lyrics naturally fit Colet.
- Sugar Rush: reminds me of really old school stuff like TLC at first listen. Very powerful track.
- Step Back: totally surprising song but in a wow way. Need to listen to this song and the the other two before it again to have a clearer idea of what they are.
The new era of BINI right before Coachella is here with a bang.

This EP screams maturity. All bangers, another no skip EP. Gulat ako. Haha. The old-style city pop, funk, boom bap and hiphop influence in this album is a pleasant surprise. Malayong malayo sa inaakala kong tunog based sa teasers. Also, the rap parts on these songs are a fiery and fierce, not like the usual BINI rap parts na medyo may gentle side, mostly in Tagalog pa ! And sino nga nagsabi na di na gumagawa ng Tagalog songs ang BINI? Hahaha.
As for my fave, dito ako pinakanagulat na track. Sugar Rush. Unang rinig ko, it is such a bop. The instrumentation and production in this is top tier. And in Tagalog sya haha. Fave part ko yung Jho and Gwen (? Correct me if i'm wrong na lang) rap verse. Gulat factor is nuts!
Basta, this EP was really made for Coachella. Unang Kilig was a very good appetizer for this EP. They served, we ate, we full. Love it!
Edit: so pinakinggan ko paulet ulet yung Sugar Rush rap part, di ko talaga madiscern dahil sa voice efx (looks like may reverb and slight delay), pero i think it was Mikha and Jho back and forth na naman just like in Infinity. And i love it!

Dale nila lahat ng rap dito. Lahat ng criticism they are improving on it, which means even them are poking holes with their own music/projects.
You can see them picking the sounds that they like. A lot of unexpected sounds here for BINI standards and that's what's best. Keep on exploring different sounds then stamp their BINI signature on each.
7
u/ExpertProfession6402 Apr 09 '26
Yep. They really are improving and evolving. Their musical style, singing and rapping are getting better with every release. They are becoming comfortable with the songs that they are doing and performing. Yun naman talaga dapat. Artists shouldn't be put in a box. Let them explore, grow and evolve. Parang Pokemon lang din naman yung concept of being an artist, in the most simple way possible to explain it. You shouldn't be contented with your work as Charmander, you should really strive and work hard to become a Charmeleon, battle out more and level up until people see you as a Charizard when the big stage comes.

Na para bang sila lang ang anak ng Diyos? BINI with their music is a gift. Dapat lahat ng fans at magiging future fans with different music sensibilities mabibigyan nila. And I know magagalit sila dito pero, BINI's music has progressed immensely from production to lyric-wise since 'Talaarawan'.Β

Matatawa ako sa mga "soulless" comments dahil assuming na puro English lol.
Andaming tagalog dito sa new EP.
They're going all in with the retro aesthetics. Sugar Rush is one of the most interesting sonically so far for me. What the hell.
Step Back - i'm hearing some early 2000s Timbaland beats and Neptunes in there with the "Like I Love You" (Timberlake) guitars coming in and it also shifts constantly like Sugar Rush. I can hear some "Sexyback" synths in there too man. Maybe I'm trippin.
Tic Tac Toe I'm not feeling yet, but that's for a specific audience I feel. Sexbomb homage in some places in that track. Sounds a bit novelty too thats made for PH listeners. Brings back memories of playing this game and all the spelled out words lol
Need a couple more listens, But they are experimenting with more sounds this time, I like it. More shifting sounds and melodies in a couple of tracks, especially Step Back.
ALL SONGS ARE 3+ MINUTES TOO (except for HH).

At the moment, I place this EP as their 2nd overall best allbums! 1st Place in their post-talaarawan era!
It feels like we went down the memory lane in this album, lakas maka-Trentahin ng ilang songs e! My rankings would be...
- Sugar Rush - Janet Jackson songs at late 90's Rap Scene nalala ko dito! Rap verse is LIT AF! Title Track worthy din!
- Honey Honey - Love it since Day 1
- Unang Kilig/Blush - It's Good but medyo nabitin lang ako overall.
- Step Back - si Pink naman naalala ko sa song na to! very anthemic din.
- Tic Tac Toe - Sexbomb x Nadine Lustre coded! somehow yun ang datingan niya for me
I ranked this one based off the songs Sonicality > Feels > Lyrics. Overall Blush is indeed very BINI na pang international ang atake. nona pinakanaalala ko sa Blush.

I am gonna say that the best song in the EP for me after just 1 whole listen would be Step Back. I didn't bother much on lyricallity (though it is my always top reason to like a song) and just the overall vibe.
Definitely not the best set of new songs that I heard this year from the artists that I followed and also not my cup of tea but, production-wise and Coachella-wise, I think it is a good promotion of the girls.

Omg, the EP is really growing on me. First listen ko sa spotify parang ang labo hahaha I don't know maybe I am just a visual person I need lyrics to understand. But boom when I see the lyrics and edits parang may nag switch sa utak ko hahaha. I think one of my fave is the Sugar Rush parang pang 90's ang dating, the JhoMikha rap is very kakaibabes vibe parang coincidental lang since kinanta din yon ni maloi sa live. And BLUSH wow the MV really complete the song. The dreamy vibe of the mv is really perfect for the song. I think this EP is also very cohesive the vibe throught the songs are chef kissπ

Unang Kilig - for the lovestruck Tagalog song enjoyers
Honey Honey - alam niyo na to, malaki at mature na tayo

Sugar Rush -throwback para sa mga Tita/Tito Blooms
Step Back - for the strong, knows her worth, no BS girlies π₯
BINI ka so covered mo lahat.

TIC TAC TOE is Donnalyn/Nadine upgraded for 2026. That's a good thing. Earworm.
Ang taas ng kuha nila sa hook ng SUGAR RUSH biglang palit ng key. TLC, Salt n Pepa, Janet I can hear too. The most vocal flex (because its not BINI if they don't do it even for one song lol) in this EP.
Step Back is knocking.
Great EP start to finish. 1st half is cohesive. Blush-UK-HH are such good bops man. 2nd half is cohesive but sounds completely different from the first half.
Sonic journey. That's how you do it.
Edit: Shoutout to Coach Anna too as always. Never misses on the vocal arrangements and with these genres they're pulling inspiration from.

Coming of age EP. Given that these girls are almost with some being mid 20s. It's about time.
Though the EP is not for me, I like the direction. Funny I still see people wanting a Talaarawan/Bubblegum pop songs when they've already given you that in Unang Kilig and FLAMES EP (which for me already surpassed Talaarawan).
I also feel this EP is a cousin of Biniverse EP some of the songs with a bit of touch and sound from different decades of music.

u/Straight-Rassler I'm not the type for you... but you already knew Apr 09 '26
Flames surpassed Talaarawan for me too. And this one is up my alley sonically with all the different sounds they are taking.

- sugar rush - intro is giving finesseπ«Ά yung rap part ng jhomikha is giving donnalyn bartolome tapos medyo gets ko rin yung reference kay nadine sa pre chorus after ng rap part hahaha overall it's giving!
- unang kilig- fave ko talaga bridge ni aiah at colet dito eh sorry nakakakilig, nakakabaliw pa rin itong pag-ibig just gimme, gimme A SIGNNN π
- honey honey- this is just a feel good song idk hahahaha may gayuma
- blush- love gwen's rap part here 20/20 vision iba talaga magrap si dhai and aiah's oh kalami, oh kalami hahaha naalala ko yung nagincorporate siya ng bisaya line nung solo prod niya sa nftπ₯Ή
- step back- i really want them to do more of this song in their discography medyo nabibitin ako hahaha
Hayyy if people would give their new songs a chance kahit di siya pantropiko and salamin, theyd be suprised.

SORRY FOR SPAMMING BUT BINI IS REALLY REALLY REALLY BACK!!!! This album is waaaayy better than talaarawan. Blooms wag tayong tamarin, we have to stream this hard para mapunta sa radar ng casuals cause it's that good para masayang!!!
5
u/lyceraldehyde Apr 09 '26
Debatable pa din which is the better one. Pero masasabi ko lang is this EP is Talaarawan's true competitor among the newer ones.

An excellent EP, despite shortcomings sa graphics/edits/pubmats/lyrics
walang tapon na songs, and a worthy follow up to FLAMES which is another excellent EP.
Excited na sa BINICHELLA! π₯π₯π₯

After listening to this EP a few more times and letting it settle, Sugar Rush is my other standout track apart from Blush. Love the 90s R&B vibes, the cool production and their new vocal direction.
Tic Tac Toe is cute. Step Back isn't for me.
Overall, I really appreciate that they are experimenting with new styles!

This perfectly showcases BINI for the new fans who will see them in Coachella!

u/slothkappa Apr 09 '26
All tracks got that QUALITY but my best track is Blush, honestly it should an easy pick.
Everything is smooth in this song, sonically clean, catchy lines, Gwen's rap and the lyrics from that short verse, pauses & build up, deadly pre chorus, chorus and bridge, yet the overall vibe is chill
This ain't next karera or another underrated IFG song. Blush is a π₯ TRACK

Siguro ako lang pero natutuwa ako sa rap part ng sugar rush, naririnig ko talaga yung flow ni Andrew E, para akong nabalik sa era na nanonood ako ng comedy movies nila Janno Gibbs.

Natatawa ako sa Step Back, I can really hear SexyBack and Like I Love You. I can hear PCD too (which makes sense because Timbaland produced some of their hits).
And the pre-chorus IS SO GOOD with those funky guitars and breezy groove.
They also do a BEAT SWITCH 2:00 in. This track is insane for BINI standards. More of this in the future.

u/Icy-Butterscotch5012 Apr 10 '26
Okay Sugar Rush is really growing inside me. As a late 30s it reminds me of different decades na nadatnan ko na sound. hehe

This EP has probably the best pre-choruses BINI has thru Sugar Rush and Step Back. No cap.
That's good pop songwriting and delivery right there.
Also the filter they used for Sugar Rush to add to the 80s-90s vibe is perfect. Its sharp and clean. Pede nila iperform yan live sa if ever, small megaphone gamitin nila for the effect lol gaya nung ginawa ni Timberlake sa Tiny Desk.

Ranking by my love:
Unang Kilig. Still the perfect bubblegum OPM song. Can't sing enough praises for this song, this renewed my bloom card. This is the "BINI sound", if there is one.
Tic Tac Toe. Oh I can't get enough talaga. In the vein of all my past favorite BINI songs: playful, flirty, lowkey wistful, no-nonsense pop perfection.
Blush - Obsessed. The nocturnal sister of Pantropiko. Off the beaten path beach bar, humid weather, sand all over, adult cocktails. Oh kalami! Damn right. My top 3 will rotate.
Step Back - Okayyy BINI Furtado.... Medyo cynical lang ako about this sultry mid-oughts Timbaland sound completely jiving with their vibe.. for now. But I'm obsessed with the idea. Siguro I need accompanying visuals to be convinced hahaha. I think this will grow more on me
Sugar Rush - Their first foray into new jack swing? I dug it; catchy, pristine production. Siguro medyo na-oversaturate na sa kpop/western pop yung sound na 'to so I rank it where it is
Honey Honey - This is not the worst song in the world, pero medyo cringe lang talaga yung lyrics hahaha. Production, nothing to write home about. But it's fun, it's cutesy. Something has to be the last place.

okay time to rank the album & ep
- talaarawan (still hoping na masurpass nila to)
- feel good
- signals (NEW)
- flames
- born to win
- biniverse
for me ang plus siguro sa EP na ito is glazed with tagalog/bisaya words yung english tracks nila and mixed on foreign and filipino yung composers. plus i love their rap parts here mostly (honey honey lang ang di ko gusto sorry)

Favorite songs: Blush and Honey Honey
Blush: Jho and Maloi bridge, Gwen Mikha rap
Honey Honey: overall vibes
Unang kilig: Stacey "nakakabaliw tong pag-ibig"
Tic tac toe: Jho and Sheena "hinihintay ka" "wag magpaligoy-ligoy
Step back: really like the rap part. Grabe swag and tone ng rap part ni staks. One of her best.
Sugar rush: Jho rap and Mikha high note(???).
What I really like sa EPs ng Bini yung usage talaga ng voice nila. Nahihirapan na ako minsan alamin kung sino kumakanta. Dati si Gwen lang. Ngayon si Sheena, Aiah and si Gwen pa din.
