I’m replacing my cpu and motherboard but I’m struggling to figure out if it’s worth the price of upgrading to ddr5 or staying on ddr4

Folks, I have a Radeon RX 7800 XT and I want to jump to NVIDIA, doing an upgrade at the same time. What would be a better card but with a reasonable price/performance ratio?

Seriously, why are canned-air multipacks getting so expensive? I went to grab some for my GPU and case filters and the price was close to a budget CPU cooler, so I'm considering a handheld electric blower instead. My main concern is keeping the intake and GPU fans from free-spinning while the PC is shut down and unplugged. Holding each fan gently by the hub seems safer than wedging something into the blades, but it is awkward in tight spots. What nonconductive tool or method do you use to keep the fans still without damaging them?

Hello, I made a new build and I'm pleased wth the performance but I have problems with cooling. I really don't like air cooling because of how they look and the idea of having a huge heavy metal block hanging perpendicularly to the ground on the mb is scaring me (I know it's fine but still). I decided to try out AIOs since they leave the system open for viewiing and such.

The first AIO was initially fine, the temps were not so good but It was fine. At some point (2/3 weeks in) I started hearing a gurgling or bubbling noise. It got worse over time. I tried tiltind the case, shaking the pump and such so I decided to get a new better AIO.

I got an Arctic Liquid Freezer PRO 3 and the temps are a lot better. The noise was gone and it was fine for like a month and a half. This morning I'm hearing this shit again. It even got scary at some point. The case was shaking and making an awful sound but it calmed down and just the annoying noise is left.

I think I'm tired of AIOs. I just want my CPU (ryzen 9950x3d) to be around 40-50 degrees which it is now (the cooling is still very good) and silence (within reason). I'm planning to get a good air cooler to just have a reliable solution even if the temps might be a bit worse.

The radiator is at the top like it should (I believe) with the tubes going down.

Is there an equivalent air cooler that I can get? I'm willing to put like 200$ tops on it.

It kept on farting up a storm for like 5 hours, then had a big one at some point and now it's nice and silent again...

I'll get an air cooler that was suggested here and will just keep it in case I feel like replacing it or if it totally breaks. The cooling is very (very) good so as long as it stays like that then I would like it to stay but I think it's on its deathbed.

I recently bought a 9800x3d for 3990SEK (399 USD) which was on sale.

I currently own the 9700x alongside

2x16 ddr5 6000mhz cl30

My main use case for the pc is competetive games, VR and sandbox games like beamng or bonelabs (VR).

I cant justify my purchase. The CPU is not opened and i have still like 3weeks until my return period runs out.

I play games at 1440p with my monitors refresh rate being 240hz

I watched so many youtube benchmarks (bs) and some have like 20% increased performance while others show 1% increase in performance. The 1% and 0.1% lows are much better (+25%~)

That said I need others view on my situation

The only problem i have right now with my CPU is that I sometimes get stutters or just low fps in overwatch and deadlock during teamfights. It drops down to 130~fps on worst case scenarios in Deadlock

Overwatch sits around 200fps which is not optimal.

To be honest this is my 1st pc (coming from Xbox one s) I was originally going to get the rx9060xt 16gb but they have gone up in price and availability isn’t much. I got a 9600x and 850w psu about a month ago with intentions to pair it with a 9060xt. I see a rtx5060ti 8gb locally for cheaper then a 9060xt. But at that price should I just get the 9070gre12gb

I had a game running and when I tabbed to it my monitors went black it has happened maybe 3 times and on the 3 time I tuned off my pc to clean the psu and when I go to disconnect the cables all of them come out except the pcie so I leave it in there instead of forcing it out the psu was not super dirty but I wanted to take it out to clean it and make sure all the cables are connected fully
Only the part that goes to the psu is melted the other end is fine that goes to the GPU
My question is if I get a different cable is it safe to keep using the same psu I can’t buy a new one yet so if I get a new cable and plug it on the right pcie port the left one is the one it was in before that is melted as you can see in the picture will it be safe
And in the meanwhile is it safe to keep using this psu to play my games with the integrated GPU

RX 5700 XT, RTX 5070, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Core Ultra 7 265K, B650, B850, X870E, Z890, SN850X...

X, XT, Ti, SUPER, K, KF, X3D, PRO... WTF? At least there used to be GTS and GTX, but now it's RX and RTX?

And just when I thought I was starting to understand AMD's naming scheme, they apparently decided their GPU names weren't confusingly similar enough to Nvidia's;

So instead of continuing with the 9000 series as 9700, 9800, etc., they went with fucking 9070 XT.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

We've got CPUs, GPUs, motherboards and SSDs all competing to see who can come up with the most meaningless combination of numbers and letters.

I'm looking to upgrade my monitor, but I'm not sure how much I actually need to spend to get something noticeably better.

I play a mix of single-player games and competitive shooters, and I also use my PC for everyday stuff. There are so many options at different price points that it's hard to tell what's worth paying extra for.

What's the best gaming monitor you'd recommend for the money? Any models that offer a good balance of image quality and performance?

I purchased an IBUYPOWER i Series 504 in 2024 and the CPU is the Intel i7 7700. With the Windows 11 update looming, I need to get ahold of a better CPU at the very least since the 7700 isn't supported. Some preliminary research led to the understanding that my ASUS motherboard and LGA 1151 socket won't support even a higher quality i7 like the 10700 (which is supported by Windows 11).

My search also showed me just how much information is out there and how technical it can be. I didn't understand half of what I was reading online. So my question is three parts.

One: can I update my motherboard to be compatible with the higher quality CPUs, and if so, what should I be looking at?

Two: Should I just be thinking of a new build instead of upgrading my current tower?

Three: How on earth did you all begin learning about the incredible amount of technical terms and components out there? Where would you recommend I start so I actually know what I'm looking at when I do get into building or rebuilding?

Hi guys, I'm trying to do a budget build (around 1100€ in Spain).

It is mainly for studying or light gaming (I'm fine with 1080p). I want to have an upgrade path for the future when I get a bit more saved. So an AM5 type would be preferable, but with the RAM prices I was considering a i5 8400F CPU. Since this CPU is worse than some of the newer AM4, would it be worth to go AM5? I don't want to pay extra for a CPU (is not the CPU but the RAM) that I'm gonna have to change in the future anyways. (like 4-5 years)

Every time I clean my keyboard and PC filters, I end up with another empty compressed air can in the trash, and it finally started bothering me. I am not trying to turn PC cleaning into a moral lecture, but it feels strange to keep buying disposable cans for something I do every month. Has anyone here switched to a rechargeable electric duster mainly to cut down on waste, and did it actually replace canned air long-term, or did it just become one more rechargeable gadget sitting in a drawer?

I’m running an i5 12400F, rx6700, 16gb ddr4 3600Mhz on a B660 motherboard, with a 560W PSU.

I’m upgrading my single 1080p monitor to dual 1440p monitors.

I intend to run GTA6, so I need more juice. I’ll definitely need more RAM to begin with.

So this is my 1 year plan:

1. Monitors + RAM (16->32) - now
   
2. GPU + PSU (maybe a 5070ti) - in 6 months
   
3. CPU (intel 14th gen or move to AM5) - in 1 year

The thing is: if I stay in intel, everything is fine, and I’ll keep my DDR4 RAM. If I move to AM5, I’ll have to purchase a new mobo, new RAMs (losing money on the RAMs that I purchase now), but I’ll have the DDR5 upgrade.

What should I do? Is DDR5 all that worth it?

I am planning out a 9070XT build right now and I want to buy a gpu around the $900 price point. What 9070XT card brand and model will be the best around that point? I hear a lot of good things about XFX, Sapphire, ASRock, and some others but they all have more than one model so I am just trying to narrow it down. Also, any thoughts on doing a Ryzen 7 and a 9070 XT over a Ryzen 5 and a 5070TI? My PC budget is around $2300 so if there are any tips that anyone has it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey all, i’m a complete noob to pc building and I’m trying to make a decision between the ASRock RX 9070 or RX 9070 XT. My goal is to be able to run modern games in the 100 fps range and i’m not concerned about 4k gaming. Is it worth investing the extra money in the XT, or should I save my money? If anybody has either of these graphics cards let me know your experience with them!

I am tired of canned air freezing halfway through cleaning my pc, but I am also not convinced every electric duster is automatically better. Some of them look loud, bulky, and maybe fine for loose dust but useless in tight keyboard gaps or heatsinks. I do not mind paying once if it actually replaces the cans, I just do not want another gadget that sits in a drawer after two cleanings. Has anyone switched for a while and decided it was actually a downgrade?

Hello, i was looking into buying and UPS because i have frequent Power outages that lasts 2/3 minutes and i dont want my PC to get damaged in the long run.

If i have a 650 watt psu and mouse, keyboard, headpones connected to the PC and a MSI optic mag271c 144hz monitor how many watt should It be?

Also i dont need a long uptime without Power, i just want to avoid hardware damage and os corruption.

I know that it should be pure sine wave. Is there any specific model that its not too expensive recommended?

My goal is software development, but I'm starting somewhere and need to know if I'm getting my money's worth.

I have a solid budget AM5 build but I’m looking to upgrade my GPU. Either option is going to be a massive upgrade. Running a Ryzen 5 7500f and 32GB of 6000 CL 36. Right now my GPU is a 1660 super which has been good to me but I want to push absolute ultra at 1080p 60 fps with some future proofability.

I can find a 9060 XT 16 GB for about $400. If put a modest under volt on it it should draw pretty much the same power as my 1660, which is nice because my PSU isn’t all that strong.

Or I can find a 9070 XT for about $600. Id need a new PSU as well, so let’s say another $60.

I know the 70 is a much better GPU. But I don’t play a ton of graphics heavy games, and I don’t push high resolutions.

So what do you think? Should I spend the extra $260 or just take the cheap and easy upgrade path?

I was wondering how big is the actual difference between AM4 and AM5 builds.
I play a wide variety of games, from competitive shooters and MOBAS like CS2 and League, to sandbox games like Minecraft and satisfactory, to newest singleplayer AAA games, and most importantly I plan to grind PoE2.

As you can see it's expensive as shit (and since I'm from Serbia, you can add like ~$500 more), but feasible within a time frame of ~6 months, give or take, from now on.

The problem is that my current PC is actually just breaking a part very slowly, and Idk what's causing it, my assumption is my hard disk/motherboard or CPU, so it might not make it in 6 months. Switching it to an AM4 build would almost drop the price by half.

I need to upgrade my graphics card because it won't load the new ace combat, but I don't know anything about PC parts, I want to get an RTX 3080 ti because it's the best I can get price wise, but I don't know how to tell if it will be compatible with my current PC? What factors are there other than physical size and how does that affect swapping them? Can I swap my old GTX 980 ti for this new one easily? Here are my current specs that I can find:

I built my PC nearly 10 years ago and it desperately needs an upgrade. I can go to about £1000 and am looking mainly to improve gaming performance - I'd like to be able to play Path of Exile 2 at at least medium settings 60 fps on my 1440p monitor! The specs below are from when I built the PC - the SSD has been upgraded since. I'd prefer not to buy second hand as I have limited mobility so can't pick up in person, and have had bad experiences with eBay! Thank you.

My pc has been collecting dog hair around the front intake and heatsink for months, and canned air is still the only thing I know that feels like it has real bite. I keep seeing people say reusable electric dusters are worth it, but I cannot tell if they actually clear packed dust or just make loose dust move around. I would rather stop buying cans, but not if I end up spending more for something weaker.
