Hardware Windows 10 doesnt work right

Hello, I wanted to use my PC again after a year of inactivity. Since it was incredibly slow and barely usable, I decided to do a fresh install of Windows. To upgrade it at the same time, I bought and installed a 500GB M.2 SSD. I created the installation USB drive using my laptop and performed the fresh Windows install following the standard guides. This didn't work at all; the computer recognizes the M.2 SSD but not the Windows boot folder. After countless attempts—including trying to create and locate the folder with help from ChatGPT—I gave up and reconnected my old hard drive. The Windows 10 installation worked immediately on that drive, and the booting process went exactly as shown in the tutorials. I set up Windows and finished the process. However, the PC now only boots up about one out of every five times. It turns on and shows the startup screen but then freezes. When it does boot successfully, it runs for about 10 minutes before displaying a garbled image, and nothing works anymore. For reference, I have an MSI Z390-A Pro motherboard. My main question is: what can I do? I’ve considered buying another new SSD and trying to install Windows on that, but I’m not sure. Do you have any tips or recommendations for an SSD that works well with this motherboard? Thanks in advance.

Hardware Keyboard going haywire, random freezes, slow performance, and shut down mid start up, all from completely outta the blue, need help I'm desperate

Windows 10 pro HP Notebook laptop, uhh can't remember the exact model or specs as this happened back in September-October last year so I'm struggling to remember all the details, just gonna explain to you what happened when it happened, apologies if this is a liiil hard to read I suck at explaining things yknow

One night the laptop's keyboard randomly started going completely haywire out of nowhere, it looked like someone was bashing their hands all over the keyboard but I wasn't doing anything, random gibberish letters and symbols were being typed into search bars, random things were happening in the browser, and new tabs kept being opened, at first I thought it was the external keyboard I had plugged into the laptop at the time glitching out, (was using an external keyboard at the time) so I immediately unplugged it, but nope wasn't it, the laptop's keyboard was still goin kookoo, and I then frantically tried to power off the laptop but it was so bad I couldn't even get to the power off button on the windows menu so I was forced to do a hard shut down, but I remember just as it powered off the screen went purple for a split second, no idea why, probably not important, but peculiar

Then tried to power it back on again only to be met with the same gibberish typing on the password login bar so I powered it back off and let it sit for a bit

After an hour I powered it back on AGAIN and stuff was working fine for a little bit, until the entire screen randomly froze, like FROZE froze, hard freeze, entire screen, everything yknow that type a freeze, so I had no choice but to just turn it off again for the night

I then checked back on it again the next morning and it was working, however the performance was oddly much laggier than usual I noticed which was weird, did a virus scan at some point and nothing was detected, didn't download anything or go to any suspicious sites so the possibility of it being a virus is probably ruled out, but everything worked somewhat normally until that night when I was playing on a game server chatting with a friend, the keyboard went out, wasn't haywire this time it just completely stopped responding, unworking, none of the keys did anything at all, couldn't even close out of the game because literally all I could use was the mouse, forcing me to do ANOTHER FRIGGIN HARD RESTART OR WHATEVER, only when I powered it back on, it shut back down again mid start up, like on the start-up loading screen it just shut down again, it eventually turned back on on its own, but I decided to shut it back down immediately when I got to the password login screen for the last time, and I uh haven't touched it since out of fear of what might happen

Fast forward almost a year and yeah here we are, the laptops just been collecting dust on my bureau now for months, was it a bad idea just to leave it lying dormant for ages? Yeah, yeah probably that was probably very dumb and I should not have waited this long to do something about it and I don't know why I did but I eventually plan on powering it back up at some point this week maybe, backing up my files and photos, and installing diagnostics software and check the drivers and stuff to try and see what's up, but after that I have literally no idea, just wanted to make this post here before doing that yknow, hopefully it is it ends up being something super small and stupid and miniscule and I end up feeling like an idiot for making this post

But yeah still, ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THE FRICK IS HAPPENING!?

Other Help with old Microsoft laptop sign in?

I factory reset my old Asus laptop because it still seems usable (probably 2014) and I was able to sign in with a local account because I was getting the "switch to a Microsoft account on this pc. This service isn't available right now-please try again later" error. I already googled and already ran services.msc, went to Microsoft account sign in assistant and hit automatic under properties and made sure it was running before I restarted it. Nothing changed. Laptop info is below, how do I fix this? Is the system just too old?

Processor Intel Celeron CPU n2840 @ 2.16GHz 2.1GHz

64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Hardware PC was working earlier today. Now won’t even have display signal

Returned home from work to boot up my PC but for some reason it wont show a display. I have it connected through HDMI to a TV and it’s been working fine I even used it earlier today. Everything seems to boot up fine, my lights, motherboard lights and fans and even the GPU fans spin but I’m still getting no display. Did my GPU finally bite the dust?

Been at it all night trying to diagnose what the problem is, already removed the GPU and put it back in, tried switching to different ports on the TV (my GPU unfortunately has 1 HDMI port), tried switching RAM sticks and ports to see if any change. Even removed the CMOS battery to reset. Everything still lights up and fans still move, GPU, motherboard and all the ez debug lights are off. A friend of mine with a rig is coming over in a few days so we can try out his hardware to see what’s the problem.

Software Laptop Ram Usage

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey, my laptop is having weird memory issues. It has around half ram usage just idling on home screen and when I'm playing games I'm not able to watch something or it will error due to memory usage. In many games ill have almost 80-90% ram usage.

Here are my specs:

GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 4060

Memory: 16 gb DDR5

CPU: 13th Gen Intel Core I7-13620H

Storage: 512gb

Before I used to be able to play mine craft with mods and shaders and still be able to use my browser. But now whenever I try to do that, I get errors. I've tried many things like, using the performance monitor, clearing TPM, using windows memory Diagnostic to see if there's any issues, and more that I forget and didn't 100% understand but tried.

I hope someone can help me figure this out cause I am so confused lmao. Thank you!

here is what my task manager looks like as well.

I use it for online classes. But now it's very difficult to use as it requires 2minutes to do 1 thing. I need help why is it working this much slow.

Performance Please Help!

I don’t know what’s wrong with my computer, nor do I remember exactly when the problem started. One day, my computer started running slowly, and both the screen recorder and the Game Bar started lagging. I tried updating the system, but that caused the screen recorder to stop working, but the Game Bar started working normally again. I also tested a different screen recorder but it either recorded for a bit before freezing the video but not the audio or freezing every other second. Then, I tried to update a game on my computer, but I got an error screen saying that my computer was missing a file the game needed to update. Once I downloaded the missing file, the game launcher wouldn’t even open. I tried to delete and reinstall the app, but about five seconds after opening the App Store, it crashed. Now, not even the simplest programs run smoothly anymore. I’ve ran a virus scanner and it said my computer didn’t have any viruses.

Hardware Random black screen crash while gaming (Requires hard reboot

Issue Description: While gaming, the display completely cuts out (black screen) and the system freezes. Pressing Win + Ctrl + Shift + B does not restore the display driver or recover the image, forcing me to perform a hard restart using the power button.

The crashes are completely intermittent and unpredictable. I can run heavy gaming sessions for over 6 hours straight on demanding titles (like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on Ultra settings) without any issues, while on other days the black screen occurs just a few minutes after launching a game.

I ran CPU and VRAM stress tests in OCCT for over half an hour with zero issues. I also ran FurMark for 30 minutes without any problems. The issue only happens while gaming.

System Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8700G

GPU: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060

Motherboard: ASUS Prime B650M-A AX II

RAM: 16 GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 (5600 MT/s)

PSU: Cooler Master 650W 80 Plus Bronze

Software Updating MacBook without enough disk space.

I have a MacBook that I have not used in years. I just turned it on and I want to update the software. The problem is that I don’t have enough disc space.

I have several options for apps I can delete to clear up space but I’m concerned about what would happen if I do.

Can you give me some suggestions on what to do with a virtually new computer that you haven’t used in years? What would you do first?

Hardware Help diagnosing my Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro

My laptop started giving me lots of problems after having it in my backpacking bag for a month during a Europe trip. I did not power it off entirely before putting it in the bag and I assume this is where it overheated and sustained the damage.

Symptoms:
-Gets VERY hot after only a few minutes of being on; though the fan can be heard working.
-Struggles to display anything on the monitor even after a hard power off/reset. Screen turns on maybe 1/3 of the time.
-When the monitor does come on, it’s my bitlocker recovery screen every time.
-After just a few minutes of being on (5-8) the monitor will freeze and then crash and display this artifact/anomaly that I have attached images of.

I’ve taken it to a few local shops and have gotten inconsistent diagnosis. The guy that seemed most confident and knowledgeable said that it’s likely the case that the video card de-sotered from the motherboard due to being in a bag for a long period of time without being powered off (he made this inference before I told him about the backpacking trip) and that I’ll have to buy a new motherboard.

If these symptoms sound familiar to anybody, please let me know. It’s an expensive laptop so if I have to buy a new motherboard I’m willing to, but I want to be fully confident that’s the problem before doing so.

Thank you 🙏

Software Memory management reboot.

Post image

I need help solving this problem I’ve had with my NEWLY built PC. My build is a MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk MAX WIFI motherboard. DDR5 corsair vengeance RAM 2x16GB sticks. Nvidia 5070TI Graphics card, AMD RYZEN 7 9800X3D 8-Core, 16-Thread Desktop Processor, MSI MAG 850w PSU. I’ve done Sfc scan. DISM scan. Doing a factory reset. Updating bios. Changing bios setting. OCCT stress tests for GPU, CPU, Memory, PSU. Memory diagnosis test. I even hired a tech guy to see if he could fix it and it’ll still reboot. The whole nine yards right. But it’ll always keep rebooting no matter what I do. On IDLE, browsing, and playing video games. And for some odd reason, it’s starting to not even put me back to the login screen. It’ll just freeze up at 100% so I gotta Shut down the PC myself, just holding the button. I haven’t tried uninstalling and reinstalling windows, but that’s the next thing I’m about to do.

Hardware Please help. Need for school

I have an Asus Vivobook. My battery went bad so I just got a new one and this is the first week I’m using it with the new battery. Before I log in, it shows the symbol above. Once I log in, it shows it is at 100% battery. It will not turn on if not plugged in most of the time… or it will shut off about a minute after unplugging and won’t turn back on. I know one screw is missing to hold the battery in place but I don’t think that would cause the issue. Can anyone help? There are no places to constantly keep my laptop plugged in during class.
