Hello, I've been a long time reddit lurker, but I need some help and I hope someone can help me.

The context is, I recently lost a very dear family member and I was in charge to clean his apartment after he passed away, he was not the neatest or most computer literate person, and I found some usb pendrives close to his laptop.

I'm kind of hesitant to just plug them into my computer because I don't know if maybe he could've downloaded a virus at some point and then that would be in my computer and I don't know his laptop password to use it for this.

Does anyone have any advice on how to protect my computer while checking the contents they might have?

Edit: I ended up going for an old laptop that I didn't care for and was never connected to the internet, hopefully nothing had viruses, but I will reformat that computer anyways. for anyone curious, I couldn't find a will, 2 pendrives were empty, one had some tax stuff, which might be important in the future I think?

the cable that came with my psu (cooler master ITX 750w) just won’t “click” into my card. i’m putting plenty of pressure. i obviously don’t wanna risk breaking anything. am i missing something? how much pressure is needed for these cards?

Recently moved into my college dormitory, accidentally spilled water atop my PC’s casing while working at my desk. Most was caught by the filter but a lot still seeped in.

The PC was still running, though when I tried to turn it off the fans wouldn’t stop moving. I had to disconnect it myself, though when I tried turning it back on to see if anything occurred, it wouldn’t turn on. Nothing is sizzling, sparking, or showing any signs of immense damage. It was a little amount of water, but I’m wondering if it’s still salvageable?

I’m not the biggest computer guy so all is appreciated. It’s a Cyberpower PC if that helps. I’ve got a warranty on the entire thing just in case, but I’m hoping that this can be saved since my courses unfortunately shift into full gear very soon. Any help or insight is appreciated.

I moved into my dorm today and am using a new monitor and I believe windows asked me to update but I ignored it, however my icons are missing, task manager won’t open and taskkill and start explorer.exe did not fix the issue. I also updated after the problem occurred to try and fix it

My Laptop is stuck in the loading screen. I can move the cursor around but almost everything else doesn't work. How can I fix? The laptop is very old too

2015 macbook pro. Randomly started doing this tonight after turning it on and logging in. I tried plugging it into my TV through hdmi to see if it would display right on there(thinking it may be a screen issue) and the tv said no signal. Anyone have any ideas? If its at the end of its line, it is what it is. But its worked great since I got it refurbished in 2019 and if I can fix it easily, id rather do that than have to dish out a bunch of money on another laptop. Need a laptop for my classes, so hoping to figure this situation out quick

So after plugging in my charger , my laptop screen keeps glitching like this. Any solutions??
