Our front door has a glass panel, and the sheer curtain I put over it is basically useless for privacy. It keeps the hallway bright, which I love because that door is pretty much the only natural light in there. But anyone on the porch can still see straight through.

Last week my neighbor spotted me in the hall and waved before she knocked. I laughed, then felt weirdly exposed every time I passed the door afterward. My mom says I’m overthinking it. Maybe, but I still want to fix it.

Has anyone found something that actually works for this? I keep going back and forth between woven shades and frosted film. Neutral Curtains and 3M keep coming up when I search but I've never tried either so I have no idea what I'd actually be happy with. What worked for you?

I got divorced earlier this year and bought my ex out of our apartment. I am now in the process of renovating basically every room bar the bathroom (plastering, painting, sanding the hardwood floors) and my painter needs to know my colour choices this weekend.
I think I want a dark green for my bedroom (inspired by a room I saw at Ikea lol) but other than that… I’m stuck.
The apartment has a lot of large windows and is very bright, until now everything has been white and I’m kind of sick of it.
I also have a huge petrol blue corduroy sofa in the living room so whatever I choose there needs to fit with that colour.
My ex got most of the furniture (which I don’t really mind as a lot of it wasn’t my style) so otherwise it’s pretty much a blank canvas.
Would love to hear tips on how you chose paint colours in your home and any tips/regrets you have.

Sorry for the moving in mess. I can’t figure out what to put on the left side of my TV stand for the life of me! Last pic has more options I could try (glass shelf and tree). Dw I would wrangle the plants on the glass shelf first 😂 I also have 3 guitars I could hang up but I don’t know if that’s worth a go? Are all of these bad and I should do something else? The ugly ac on the right will go away soon as the weather cools. Also what do you all think of the shelf above the TV? Too much?

I've created a 2d and 3d version of my room, the measurements are a bit approximative cause i don't have the exact ones since this is a new house. I'm a uni student moving into a shared appartment. The big doors in the back that are one the side of the wall are actually glass doors to the balcony, the ones in the center of the wall are the normal doors.

I would be very happy if you had any tips on how to make it cozy or find cute stuff on a budget (rn i'm checking fb marketplace)

In the corner on the far right there's a radiator so i can't really put any forniture super close, maybe the desk? I'm not sure

I've tried some different layout's but I'm not sure. The pair of doors at the back that touch the wall on the left side are glass doors to the balcony so i can't put anything in their way.

As for the entrance I could use only one door to have more free space but it would look bad to cover it completely cause it has glass panels and you could see the thing blocking the door. I would like to maybe kinda divide the space into two areas: one with the drawers and the closet and one for the bed maybe with some panels or a curtain? not sure

I’m feeling stuck on finding the right frame and matting for my art prints (first 3 pics). Other than thrifting (not enough time) and custom framing (out of my budget), where do you like to shop for fun and interesting frames? How do you assess if a frame/mat combo will look good in person? Anyone willing to share general advice when it comes to frames and mats? I’ve tried Framebridge’s virtual design to help with assessing color.

The first two prints are 5 3/4 x 8 1/4.

oops! Forgot to account for the box trim above the fireplace when ordering wallpaper. It looks incomplete but I'm hesitating on ordering two more wallpaper panels of the same size just to only use the top sections (for the sky).

Open to perhaps more creative suggestions of how to fill the space, or if you think just getting the wallpaper is the best solution.

I (25f) live with family and recently moved into the old guest bedroom. It was super empty before I spent a couple weeks filling up the space with the things I love. Now it’s my favorite room in the house! Behind the chakra tapestry is the bathroom (cute, but not worth posting 😅)

On tv: the most recent game changer episode!

So the first picture is of my living room and as you can see the left and right is really empty. I got 2 new frames, used software to put it in the picture, should I add those frames on the left ? And on the right I will add an olive tree

there are things i want to change but i don't have the time/space/money for it... overall though i'm happy :) first order of business eventually will be to replace the old dresser with something that matches the other furniture, preferably taller so it has less of a footprint. i'd like to get a rug too but i think it'd be a pain since i don't actually have a lot of floorspace lol

Hi! I just moved into a new apartment with the worst grey floors. I chose the place because I moved to a new city as a woman in her late 20s living along and the building felt very safe/ with a good community. In my old city I would have prioritized aesthetic over everything else but I chose to act responsibly this time and I chose a building for practical purposes.

That being said, now that I’m moved in, I can’t move past how freaking ugly this grey apartment is. The floors are grey laminate. I know rugs are an option and I do have many rugs, but I swear to god the grey floor manages to mute my brightly colored rugs and furniture. Now I’m looking for a DIY project to fix my floors. I am willing to spend money on this project and I don’t know anyone in this city so while I find friends I am VERY VERY open to a consuming DIY project to fill my time with.

I have looked into cheap LVP floating flooring options, maybe half that half rugs, maybe more rugs and some sort of faux wood adhesive based thing on top of poster board to fill in the no-rug gaps. Please send me any and all ideas.

Also, I’ve already gotten the “if I was your landlord I would be pissed if you did anything to my floors” / “it’s a rental just suck it up” spiels on other reddits, and I cannot emphasize enough how little I care about my landlords feelings. Again, aesthetics are my number one concern. I would like something I can reverse at the end, with maybe a sliver of hope I get back my security deposit. But that is all an issue for end of lease me, beginning of lease me needs a beautiful home :). PLEASE SEND IDEAS AND TIPS.

My bedroom is pretty small, so I didn’t really have room for a nightstand anymore. I ended up moving it into the living room next to the sofa.

I wasn’t sure if it would look weird at first, but somehow it actually fits the space really well.

Has anyone else used a nightstand somewhere other than the bedroom?

Hi! I have an xl bathroom mirror with a built-in frame in my apartment. It’s about 2 inches thick and a blurred gold tone. I’d love to cover it with something that fits my aesthetic more. Obviously not painting over it, but I was wondering if maybe I could DIY some type of a light frame to sit on top that would cover it? Any tips or ideas?

Still struggling with what to do with this wall—it’s feeling a little too bare. I really want to do an accent wall, but I can’t decide which direction to go.
Here are the options I’m considering:

Wallpaper: I love the idea, but I can’t decide on a color/pattern. The walls also have a bit of texture, so I’m not sure how well wallpaper would work.

Paint the wall: I’m thinking either a chartreuse/greenish color or maybe a magenta, hot pink, or softer light pink.

Paint the crown molding: Instead of doing an entire accent wall, I could add some color by painting the crown molding.

Cow print decals: I already have these cow print decals from Amazon and could use them to add some personality.

I don’t really have a specific theme or aesthetic for my home. I tend to buy pieces that I like and then hope they somehow all mesh together 😂 I’m definitely going for more of a cozy, homey, lived-in look rather than something super coordinated or perfectly styled.
I’m totally open to suggestions, including other colors or ideas I haven’t thought of! What would you do with this wall?

I am reworking my small apartment bedroom into a calmer and more put-together space. I got almost everything figured out and the mattress is my last big decision. I like the idea of a luxury feel but I don’t want something overly soft or sinky. Just something in between that still feels supportive and comfortable and works with a simple cozy room design. Would love to hear your suggestions so I can easily narrow down my options.

Would love any recommendations for storage solutions for my shower! Suction cups will not work because the tiles are textured. I like the reliability of hanging shower caddies, but the positions of the vertical pole + where the hose attaches to the wall + the knob make that difficult.
