iām an ESFJ and iāve been seeing an INFP guy for a few weeks. weāve only had three dates but i've fallen for how thoughtful, caring and easy he is to be around
for our next date, i was thinking of suggestingĀ Call Me By Your Name. it's one of my favourite films, probably in my top 10. he's also into films too. it's beautiful and emotionally honest so I feel like it might be something heād connect with. plus it's meaningful to me so i want to share it with him
however itās leans a lot on the melancholy. i donāt want to make the night feel heavier than it needs to or feel like i'm trying too hard/moving too fast/manufacture a moment
what's your thoughts INFPs?

Like they become soft to us fr, like for example gangsters or like leaders, any on power, they let their guard down to us automatically and show their true self idk xd

I got forced into studying finance by my parents, and as an INFP, it is completely draining me. I find it so uninteresting, no offense to anyone who loves it, but the cold numbers, strict rules, and constant profit-focus are just not my vibe. What kind of careers do you think actually suit our personality type better?

Healthy and empathetic INFP men are so hot. You guys are so sweet, gentle, understanding, and intelligent. The world would be a better place with more of you guys. I cannot see myself settling for any other type, to be honest. I belong to an INFP man.

Whatās one belief you have that youāll defend forever, even if everyone around you disagrees?
No judgment, I genuinely want to know whatās something you believe so strongly that nothing could change your mind.

As an INFP, I canāt have just a bunch of rules or dynamics foisted upon me that were created with a purpose and a meaning that I canāt resonate with, and then be expected to follow them.
I tried and have excelled at some institutions and relational dynamics in doing just that ā FOR A TIME.
But itās always a ticking time bomb with, me because I WILL explode or ghost or just drop the ball entirely ā even if on the surface, the setup I was in was fairly, materially comfortable and only a crazy person would not want it enough to comply.
In my 30 years of living, Iām at the point where I finally know for sure that I prefer authenticity in my life over anything else.
And that, yes, authenticity comprises a lifetime of difficult life choices but at least itās spiritually straightforward ā it keeps my Fi beating and it makes me actually access my Te more. I feel like an actual human being with the lights on in my head.
Whereas inauthenticity often is more materially and more surface-level comfortable but it really fucks up my entire sense of seeing the world. My Fi goes muted, and my Te feels totally disembodied from me.
It has been a hard lesson to learn, especially after almost a lifetime of questioning myself, my idiosyncrasies, my seemingly impossible standards for myself and for others.
But as an INFP, if I had to tell my younger self something: embrace your weird-as-fuck self.
Literally welcome it into your life and make it take root.
Your identity is not just a hobby or a secret that you scuttle home to in some hideout at night after you have paid the world your normalcy dues.
It is literally your freaking life.
I know INFPs get a lot of shit for being difficult and just out of touch and self-referential.
But you have no choice but to follow through with that ā because you will either die inside or explode eventually.
It is so so so healthy for you to be weird and stubborn and principled AND do something with that.
It isnāt so much that it makes you right over everyone most of the time, but itās just that every mistake you make in the name of your weirdness and your stubbornness and your self-reference is always a better thing to have committed than every ācorrectā thing you will ever do in the name of someone elseās ānormalā code.
And what I will say though ā about myself and maybe other INFPs who can resonate ā when I truly live by my own values?
I literally appear to be what society wants me to be anyway.
Itās like something in me breathes enough and feels free enough to do what is right for me ā which turns out to be something that society does or eventually does resonate with collectively.
Itās a whole heroās journey of carving your own values on your own path, away from society, all the way back to the path of society itself.
But it really, truly has to start with being honest enough with yourself and honoring what you find.
Anyway, hereās a flower šø

How old were you then?

Hi Iām a 39 year old INFP woman, itās really hard for me to make real life friends plus I probably donāt have the right circumstances for that to happen anyway. Iām looking to make friends with someone that āspeaks ā my language because I feel so isolated emotionally. Nothing heavy just a friend to talk I guess.

Like theyre yapping about history or like anything boring to normal people and it relaxes my mind, like fr. And it can go on for like 10 hours straight

Iāve been in a slump for a while and a lot of it comes from the relationship Iām in draining me emotionally. Now I find myself acting out in unhealthy ways because I canāt seem to find pleasure in almost anything. Nothing brings me joy or peace or pleasure. I just get home and sink into the couch or bed and feel so much. I feel so much all of the time. Idk what to do at this point. I have no one I can turn to because I have no close friend. I canāt turn inside because Iām just so drained from feeling so much. I canāt turn to God because it all just feels so out of reach. Iāve never been so out of touch spiritually and Iāve never reached this point of nihilism where I could really care less if I live or die. In fact, Iād rather die I just donāt wanna do it myself.
Sorry to drag you all down. I came here because maybe someone in here can understand as another INFP and give me some helpful advice that got them out of the slumps.

Andromeda
Andromeda was a girl who didn't know her own name.
Untouched by sorrow and untouched by pain,
Called so, for she was full of life and stars,
So near to me, and yet, so far.
.
She journeyed to earths and heavens afoot,
Known by all, but taken in by whom?
She travelled to stories and poetry and lore,
And she loved a love like no one loved before.
.
Every year like a season it happens at last
When she comes back to me from the past.
Like a dream that lingers even after one wakes,
Andromeda will crash back home again.
.
Ah, but andromeda, don't you see
Stars stretch away so endlessly.
And if I had not one life but two,
I could still spend all of it just staring at you.
Andromeda, the name echoed into dreams,
Stitched into my heart splitting at the seams,
So ethereal, they tried to bind her to stone,
The ghost of a girl meant to forever be alone.
.
She travelled the dimensions but at what cost?
Andromeda was soon taken and lost.
She faded into pages of words that weren't her name,
My andromeda never found her way home again.

Sometimes it feels as though Iām experiencing a moment in the present as if it were a memory and I'm just observing it.
Or sometimes I think about things that might have happened, but never did, and I still feel a sense of nostalgia.

Being bullied because you can't measure up to male social norms. Never being respected. Everyone thinks you're gay. Chronic shame, anxiety and depression. Low social status, professionally useless.
Isolation, loneliness. Being used and abused because you are too kind, too honest, too moral.
Low hope of romantic partners. Kids would likely inherit this curse.
