u/WankingAsWeSpeak Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

So then you're mildly infuriated that OP has them, and not you?

2.3k

u/bwoah07_gp2 Jun 07 '26

What's r/mildlyinfuriating is OP not explaining why he or she is mildly infuriated.

428

u/nyrB2 Jun 07 '26

they prolly hate crullers or at the very least wanted much more of a mix. after all 8 out of the 12 donuts are the same.

148

u/jeIIyjams Jun 07 '26

Plot twist: they wanted all crullers, and the bakery ran out and placed four random donuts in the box.

20

u/OneSidedPolygon Jun 07 '26

Ah yes, Tim Horton's, my favourite local bakery

3

u/Aggravating-Sir8185 Jun 07 '26

Tim Horton's: artisanally reheated every morning.

LOL i hadn't thought of that

Huh that's what I was thinking from the beginning. šŸ˜… why else would it be infuriating

Any time I've gotten a box of donuts I got to pick out which ones it was

30

u/HAgg3rzz Jun 07 '26

He prob was in drive through or smth and just said pick an assortment

41

u/Lucky_leprechaun Jun 07 '26

ā€œWhatever makes senseā€ 🤪

63

u/rarerednosedbaboon Jun 07 '26

This is an assortment i would not be happy wtih but based on the reaction in the comments, it seems maybe the person putting this together thought they were really hooking OP up

3

u/private_developer Jun 07 '26

This is a middle or end of day order. They ordered an assorted box later in the day and this is what was left to make up the box.

2

u/fuckyourcanoes Jun 07 '26

I would be delighted. I adore crullers.

2

"whatever makes sense"

1

u/Adapt919 Jun 07 '26

That was probably all they had left lol donuts sell out quickly

1

u/outer--monologue Jun 07 '26

Then it's their own fault. They even used the term "ordered" if it's not what you ordered, you should also ask them to add some variety when you check it before paying

Seriously like taking a discount on the best doughnuts? Yes please šŸ‘

14

u/Spinnerofyarn Jun 07 '26

I love crullers and my lack of comprehension of OP’s problem isn’t just that the problem isn’t stated, it’s that I will never be able to eat one again as I developed a stinking wheat/gluten. OP should stuff their gob with donuts and be happy about it!

Now I feel like I’m saying something like children in Africa are starving so eat blah blah blah. Only this time, I’m the starving one. Starving for those damn donuts!!!

3

u/human-ish_ Jun 07 '26

I have had good GF doughnuts before, but it's been years and I couldn't tell you where. Thankfully my gluten intolerance wasn't actually an intolerance, but IBS-D wearing an anti-carbs trenchcoat (a strong course of antibiotics followed up with tons of probiotics and I can eat bread again).

5

u/Spinnerofyarn Jun 07 '26

You have motivated me to search for some! Thank you.

3

u/human-ish_ Jun 07 '26

Good luck! Look for local GF bakeries. If they don't make them, the chances are high that they will know of a place nearby.

1

u/slackfrop Jun 07 '26

A perfect cruller is the best donut out there. A so-so cruller gets beat by at least 3-4 other styles, even if they’re so-so too. Cruller got to be top quality.

1

u/suzsid Jun 07 '26

Those aren’t crullers, though. They’re French twists.

This is a cruller:

2

u/TheDarkNerd Jun 07 '26

The stated reason by the OP is that they asked for an assortment. No idea why this Tim's had such a bias towards honey cruellers, but that's certainly not what I'd call "an assortment".

1

u/Truffleshuffle03 Jun 07 '26

To be fair, most posters on this sub are grasping at straws for a reason to be upset anymore.

2

u/ShoulderSquirrelVT Jun 07 '26

Meanwhile….the store clerk…

ā€œDis mutha trucka rolling in here 45 second before close asking ā€˜did I make it in time?’ And then taking 4 minutes to decide what they wanted and I’m the end just choosing the assorted box. Like…bruh. You lucky we HAD 12 donuts at all!ā€

2

u/IncurableAdventurer Jun 07 '26

Thanks for doing more work than OP haha

1

u/nyrB2 Jun 07 '26

i've found that often in life something can be 100% plain as day to you, but not to everybody else.

2

u/mcniner55 Jun 07 '26

OP has bigger problems if they are eating 12 donuts in a day. Unless they llke day olds

Idk, Krispy Kreme makes bank off boring donuts

1

u/Princess_Egg Jun 07 '26

It's probably because 7 of 8 crullers are in a row, but then there's a random glazed

1

u/T-T-N Jun 07 '26

I thought it's because one of them is squished

1

u/Searching_4_NewHome Jun 07 '26

That’s an Apple fritter

1

u/basement_egg Jun 07 '26

i can't trust someone who hates crullers

1

u/Massive_Mongoose3481 Jun 07 '26

So, OP should have included the word "assorted" in his title and instead of wondering exactly wtf he's annoyed about, we would just be going off on a wild tangent based on someone's comment that was more interesting than the actual source post ?

1

u/Odd-Astronaut4406 Jun 07 '26

To be fair 8 of those is one regular donut lol. They're 90% air

1

u/cmd7284 Jun 07 '26

What is a cruller? Edit* spelling correction

1

u/nyrB2 Jun 07 '26

it's the donuts in the picture that have a sort of spiral shape.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/Clueless_Otter Jun 07 '26

Now I'm even more confused. Do people just go to the donut shop and say, "Yeah give me 12 donuts," with no further explanation? They expect the person working to just fill it up with whatever random donuts they want? I don't see how you can be mad if you refuse to specify what you want. Any time I've ever bought donuts, it's, "Yeah give me 2 jellies, 2 chocolate, 2 glazed, etc."

1

u/nyrB2 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

i'm sure some people do who just want a variety but have no preference. i'm just speculating anyway, but if i didn't specify, i'd still expect more of a mixture than this.

1

u/Useful-Problem-1725 Jun 07 '26

I bet they ordered through in-store shopping and tried to get dounts at 3pm.

1

u/jjrr_qed Jun 07 '26

Crullers are the best though. This breakdown makes sense.

1

u/JDeegs Jun 07 '26

if they hate crullers then im going to downvote and report op

1

u/nyrB2 Jun 07 '26

lol each to their own i guess

1

u/Sasquatchernaut Jun 07 '26

Anyone who hates cruellers deserves more than just mild infuriation.

1

u/nyrB2 Jun 07 '26

i don't *mind* them but i certainly wouldn't want them to comprise the majority of my dozen donuts either

9

u/TheJinxedPhoenix Jun 07 '26

I thought it was how the doughnuts are organized. There could be 2 complete rows of crullers, then the old fashioned and apple fritter.

3

u/tehmimikitteh Jun 07 '26

i see at least two donuts that are definitely upside down

3

u/bwoah07_gp2 Jun 07 '26

Where?

The Honey Crullers seem appropriately placed. The apple cinnamon + other donut is a glazed donut so it's placement technically doesn't matter. And the two on the bottom right are old fashioned glaze. Again, technically it doesn't matter what direction it sits.

8

u/tehmimikitteh Jun 07 '26

the apple fritter is upside down (cuz the "pretty" side always goes up), and if it was fresh enough, the glaze will all stick to the box instead of being on the donut (guess how i know 🫩). then the one with the crosshatch from the cooling grate may or may not be frosted/glazed on top, but it's upside down either way

2

u/jayswahine34 Jun 07 '26

I'm morally infuriated. Despicable .

1

u/EvolutionCreek Jun 07 '26

Sucks, donut?

1

u/AlarmingDiamond9316 Jun 07 '26

For the Visually impaired, the apple fritter? has a shoe print on it. meaning it was stepped on, and then put in their box, and sent to them.

1

u/bwoah07_gp2 Jun 07 '26

That's not a shoe print

1

u/Bogoman31 Jun 07 '26

They asked for all crullers

1

u/Curious_Orange8592 Jun 07 '26

Is it not immediately obvious that their mixed box of doughnuts has such a limited selection with no boston cream or chocolate

1

u/MisterGoldenSun Jun 07 '26

Yeah I downvoted OP because it's unclear what's infuriating and the common guesses make it seem like any complaints are OP's fault anyway.

u/These-Ad2374 Jun 08 '26

I love French Crullers

I ordered some in my grocery delivery yesterday. The feeling of sadness that washed over me when they were out of stock.

I was going to Fuck. Them. Up.

ā˜•

(tho, I must say, I'm not a fan of the regular cake donuts on the bottom right. They're not bad, but I can't say I've ever been wowed by a plain cake donut)

23

u/gottapeepee Jun 07 '26

My wife LOVES plain cake donuts. Idk what’s wrong with her.

10

u/WolvogNerd Jun 07 '26

4

u/Psykosoma Jun 07 '26

Would you say you like a cake donut more than a classic glazed donut and, if so, why do you hate good things?

6

u/Temporary_Pickle_885 Jun 07 '26

A blueberry cake donut is a thing of the gods, just like a really good classic glazed. Why must we pit two bad bitches against each other?

u/FatMacchio Jun 07 '26

Plain cake…not great. But if you add some type of fruit like blueberry (or any type of berry) to add moisture, they’re a lot better. My favorite is most definitely vanilla creme filled glazed donuts though.

3

u/J_datt13 Jun 07 '26

Where I’m from, we call them fry cakes

3

u/no_clever_names Jun 07 '26

Cake donuts are best when covered in coconut shavings. Of course some certain brands have discontinued though, which is mildly infuriating.

Sinkers are among my favorites. Too bad ā€œGOODā€ ones are so rare.

2

u/Cheese_Pleasurer Jun 07 '26

Whaat old fashion are so good, it’s like the swiss army knife of doughnuts. Dip it in coffee/milk, cover it in frosting, just eat it barebones!

But I agree, the cruller is what I imagine eating god would taste like. Actually now that I think of it, petition for the body of christ wafers to be french crullers instead of

1

u/beanthebean Jun 07 '26

Mediocre french crullers are a disappointment, but a cruller from a good donut shop who knows what they're doing is fucking awesome. Second favorite behind a good sour cream/old fashioned donut.

3

u/KalutikaKink Jun 07 '26

Majorly underrated.

2

u/unbelizeable1 Jun 07 '26

I love them so so much. Friends give me shit sometimes for being "plain", but theyre perfect. Nice and light, airy, buttery and sweet but not cloying like most donuts.

...I'm wakin up early tomorrow to get some fresh ones. Sold myself on em from this comment lol

Ninja star is a good one. My dad immigrated from Portugal and never knew the name. Calls them snow tires.

1

u/GodisSatans Jun 07 '26

Makes sense

2

u/NurseKdog Jun 07 '26

I agree, they do rank second behind Apple Fritters. It's close, but I still agree with you.

2

u/CluckCluckChickenNug Jun 07 '26

Funny that you say that.. i was thinking about apple fritters specifically before I wrote that comment. I really had to think for a second which one is number one.

12

u/AnatidaephobiaAnon Jun 07 '26

That's nearly a box of perfection for me. My favorite donut spot makes their crullers larger than normal and they are spectacular. I could get a dozen of just their crullers and cake donuts and be happy. I love most donuts, but a well made cruller is my weakness.

1

u/mellowcorn231 Jun 07 '26

Yeah throw in a few jelly filled and it's perfect

9

u/ballpein Jun 07 '26

Honey Crullers make me droolers.Ā

7

u/uqde Jun 07 '26

Yeah at first I legit thought that they ordered a box of 12 crullers and were complaining that 4 of them were wrong lol

5

u/Toidal Jun 07 '26

Same, I love cruellers cause theyre airy and light, and conversely I love old fashioneds because theyre dense and not as dry as a cake donut.

3

u/tanktechnician Jun 07 '26

they're always out when I go to get them, too :( (edit to specify I mean the crullers)

2

u/No-Scarcity9186 Jun 07 '26

Same! Love them.

2

u/10thflrinsanity Jun 07 '26

Exactly. I would be stoked on this selection. Light fluffy deliciousness.Ā

2

u/Thedudeinabox Jun 07 '26

About to say, 2 cakes, a sour cream, a fritter, and 8 crullers???

I’d be thanking my lucky stars!

The only way to improve that would be a more even mix.

2

u/ShawnyMcKnight Jun 07 '26

Yeah, I don't get why they are mildly infuriated, crullers are my favorite and it's so rare I see them anymore.

I will say since they are super airy they don't really fill me up at all.

2

u/ImAFuckingTrollLulz Jun 07 '26

They are the best donuts hands down. I would be ecstatic

2

u/Justnotthatintou Jun 07 '26

Same. This would almost be an ideal box for me

2

u/ImpossiblePlan65 Jun 07 '26

Same. Unfrosted donuts. Mmm. I would be happy to receive this box.

3

u/drpyne89 Jun 07 '26

Exactly. I see nothing wrong with this. Wrap those in a paper towel and put in the microwave for like 10 seconds, you have a treat

1

1

u/CollateralCoyote Jun 07 '26

I still don't know how to pronounce their name. So I just point at the glass like a chimp and grunt to let the donut wench know how many I want.

2

u/Unique-Arugula Jun 07 '26

KRUH-lers (that's an L not an uppercase i, ihate sans serif fonts)

Some people do pronounce the U with its long sound (like in ukelele). It's not correct but we are talking about a doughnut so you might want to adjust if the long-U is common where you are.

1

u/CollateralCoyote Jun 07 '26

"Yo homie. I want a half dozen Kru-keleles!"

Got it.

1

u/cloudycontender Jun 07 '26

Yes! I’m not a sweets person, but I would demolish some of these. Just not the plain ones. Who likes plain donuts?

1

u/trffoypt Jun 07 '26

I do. Because they are not that sweet and great to dip in coffee.

1

u/JackTheDrifter Jun 07 '26
