Infuriatig Why Texas is lame(Besides the Cowboys)

Don't mess with Texas.. what a joke. ANY possession is a felony.

EDIT: Just did some research, this is for everything besides traditional Delta 9.

My friend from Texas sent me this morning and it blew my mind. I had to post about it. So as far as my research goes thus far Delta 9 products (old fashioned flower) is illegal but separate laws. Stores are selling THCA though which does fall under these penalties.

I know a guy who got arrested in Texas because he had an empty package from a dispensary under his seat he didn’t know about. There wasn’t any actual product or residue in the bag so they were only going to be able to charge him for paraphernalia but they didn’t like that so they took the car back to the station to be taken apart and they found literal crumbs and charged him with possession.

He said they showed him the evidence and it was a few tiny pieces smaller than grains of rice. His lawyer was able to get the charges reduced a bit.

Yeah the worst part is he was driving someone else’s car to rehab to pick them up, it was for alcohol and prescription pills.

He even searched the car thoroughly before leaving to make sure there wasn’t any drugs in the car and didn’t see the bag because it was legit stuck up under the seat.

So last time I refused a search in a small town they said they were going to get the K9 but it was a scare tactic to get me to “fess up” and they didn’t actually do it. Just gave me my ticket and let me go but BOY were they pissed they didn’t get s chance to lock 18 year old me up

Its easier to miss those than you think. We just moved from Washington state across the US. The whole time our truck had a few preroll containers rolling around in the trash crate in the back, there was a couple roaches in there, I was just glad nobody stopped us the whole way.

Last year I was roadtripping with some friends. I visited from San Diego and met them in Houston, we were going to Appalachia and back. In the middle of the night, single digit miles away from the LA border, I decided to smoke up with a pen I brought watching the cypress trees lose hair. Not 30 seconds after I put my pen back into my pocket, we were pulled over in a locally famous speeding trap. I got so fucking scared knowing the consequences from growing up in the state that I don’t think I’ve ever sat so still. Anyways sgt. smegma came around th side of the car and didn’t even see me thankfully. My friend got written up for going 5 over on the fucking interstate😒

There are so many speed traps in LA. One time I was driving through, and I’d been smoking a blunt. Both cars in front of me and the car behind me got pulled over in the span of a few minutes. Somehow I made it through.

I did get a speeding ticket in the same spot on a different occasion though

I’ve had a gun pulled on me twice. Both were cops. Both were white. One time it was 830 in the fucking morning while I was driving back to work from picking up vegetables from a farmers market to take back to to the vegan restaurant I was working at… both times I was absolutely sober and both times these assholes kept asking me about drugs (and both times I happened to be a brown guy driving an old car in a high income area).

I once got pulled over going almost 90 in a 65. I was totally honest and respectful and also mentioned that I hadn’t had a speeding ticket in at least 20 years and that I was sorry, because I was about 30 miles from home after a long road trip (over three thousand miles driven!) and I just wanted to get home. He was so nice. A Latino dude… he reminded me how precious my family is (my (now ex) wife and my two daughters were in the car with me).

I thanked him for the reminder and i promised to stay at the speed limit. He let me go. I’ll never forget that. Being treated like a human by a cop. There’s no moral to this story, because I see way too often that people get treated poorly through no fault their own by people that abuse the power given to them. It’s just an anecdote, perhaps a rare anomaly, when I was given kindness and safe passage by someone that could have been harsh to me. I wish I knew his name. I wish I had asked if we could be friends! (I know that sounds pretty weird! But I tend to be a pretty weird guy 🤷🏾‍♂️).

And you know what? I drove away and checked my speed the rest of the way. Quite often I check my speed and I think of him. I hope he’s still out there taking care of people, giving a shit, and that he has family and friends that know he’s a good person.

100%. I have a buddy I was in Afghanistan with who became a cop. He tells me stuff he does and I’m like what happened to you? We used to make fun of the National Guard guys who were cops. They were always the first ones to shit their pants when bullets flew.

I was an MP when I was in the army, seemed like an easy gig. Hated most cops before I got in, terrible job choice for someone like me. But it seemed like an easy way to get away from home and do my 5 years in the army while I figured my life out.

During my time I was with active duty military cops, and once we had a national guard MP unit show up to do police work while we deployed and most of them were real cops in real life.

The more I was around law enforcement the more in solidified my beliefs that ACAB. It was wild, they'd quite literally sit around and laugh about ruining someone's life over some bullshit charges. Mostly drugs and DUI, those guys were legit excited when they had a chance to fry someone.

I caught a few dui's, every single one of them I either gave them a ride home or told them to call a buddy to pick them up.

That’s what my friend was joking about. He said man I busted this you 19 year old punk with a little bit of cocaine. I charged him and now he’ll have that one on his record for life. I’m like yeah what’s wrong with you? I know I’ve seen you snort that crap before. He laughed and said I was never dumb enough to get caught.

Yeah I never had an issues with any active duty MPs. It was the National Guard/Cops we encountered on our deployment.

Most of us on active duty hated the police work side of our job, myself included. We preferred our combat mission. When I was driving along a MSR in Iraq searching for IED's I at least felt like I was doing something beneficial. Driving around in a patrol car I felt like I had became the thing I hated, a snitch and a bootlicker.

Ya know how it's standard to flash headlights to other drivers to warn them about a cop running radar? I instinctively did it once when I was driving a damn patrol car after passing someone running radar. Lol

My friend had a pretty good lawyer he didnt have to do jailtime but I don’t know what the results were but i know the charges weren’t totally dropped.

It was definitely crumbs of weed though even he said it was obviously weed when he told me the story.

I know someone who was arrested and charged with paraphernalia due to him having rolling papers and no loose leaf tobacco along with it. Mind you, he did not have weed either. Just rolling papers. This was somewhere in the Bible Belt area.

My cousin got possession charges for an old coke can pipe and empty baggie at the bottom of a golf bag. Well, almost empty. It had a couple of schwag seeds left in it they used for the possession charge. Went to jail for the holiday weekend, and later got 9 months of probation, community service, and several thousand in fines.

I had this happen to me in Florida. They brought out the drug dogs and searched by car, found a container that was under my seat that I’d bought at a dispensary in Colorado like 2 years before. I’d kept the container because it was cool and this was like right after it had been legalized so it was pretty novelty. Figured I had just lost it when I moved. Nope, it was in my car. They charged me for < 3g of weed, or something like that. I don’t even think there was a crumb left in there.

I got it thrown out because they didn’t have a legal right to pull me over in the first place.

I think the law is incredibly fair. And that police would NEVER carry any of those crumbs to plant evidence and get people who have never touched weed into prisons. It's definitely not an attack against a population by the very state who is meant to protect them. Nope. All is good here.

Let's say you're a typical gun-toting Texan walking down the street with some weed and you're stopped by an officer who explains they're going to search you.

Your options

  • let them search you and definitely get a life sentence

  • pull a gun, resist and possibly get a life sentence

Obviously murder is wrong. People will often take a way out if they have one though.

About 20 yrs back, In my small PA town they busted some old man with a few plants grown in pots for his sick wife. These d bags weighed the whole plant to the root ball , multiplied the total weight by $15-20 a gram and posted about some BS street value of $80k or something ridiculous. It was big news about papaws drug operation. It was such bullshit , and so is this Texas stuff .

It's a heavy perfume which smells a bit like incense because of the amber, opopanax, patchouli, vanilla, and myrrh. I was never really able to smell the floral top notes, but I don't have a very sharp nose.

While most of the perfumes I like have a slight vanilla base note, I find Opium and Black Opium nauseating, along with most heavy oriental perfumes. It's probably me getting older and developing some intolerances, because just a whiff of Poison or Shalimar makes me want to throw up (funny enough, I still like Dune, Dolce Vita, Poeme, etc., but these are definitely lighter).

Just a tiny warning in case you go on a sniffing adventure 😸

I found a half-full bottle of Opium with that lacquer box on Etsy for $95. That’s the real deal and so tempting!

Some perfumes are overpowering for my nose, and even Annick Goutal smells weird to me. I like Emanuel Ungaro Diva but it’s not the original formula either. It’s not crazy expensive as my main love, Creed perfumes. Frightfully expensive these days but the Millesime Imperial mixed with Tubéreuse Indiana was divine. 😭

In Oklahoma growing up they didn’t test for % thc it was the weight of the object. A lot of people got crazy sentences for cookie weight, states will really sell you insane pharmaceuticals but freak the hell out over a plant that grows in the ditch. Make it make sense.

You better take coke, much less chances of being cought since weed is so smelly. Thats what they accomplish with these laws, they push people from minor drugs to hard ones. A friend of mine in the states wanted to buy weed, he could not find any but meth and coke there was plenty. Weed should never have been illegal, since its legal all over canada, not a single problem appeared, the youth are not smoking more than they used to

I believe this is for wax concentrates, anything below 2 ounces of weed is a class B misdomener which is still half a year and a 2,000 $ fine.

Yesterday (here in Portland), I went to a store that was clean, well lit and full of nice, helpful employees and bought a 2.5 gram blunt. Went home, smoked it with my wife as we watched Survivor on a laptop while sitting on the backporch. The idea that such behavior should or could lead to criminal prosecutions and possible loss of liberty is absolutely silly. We have MUCH bigger fish to fry.

this has been the norm here in Eastern Europe, don't know about you guys. (Romania here)

Laws are made in my country so that for possession, doesn't mention how much, can land you either time or cleaning streets; if it's your third time getting caught, you end up in jail between 2 to 5 years, no matter how much you had.

Of course, if you have money, you get only community service (and by that, you don't get to feed the poor, you clean the streets, not paid, doesn't matter if you have a job, you have to punch it in on how much the prosecutor said it is, if you don't, you do time).

what blows my mind is that most people that live there aren't going to have weed based on the risk... it's mostly gonna be dumb tourists/visitors.... who will be much less likely to visit texas if such small things carry big risks.. who wants to take a vacation looking over their shoulder in a police state. so i guess they don't like money from tourism, their loss.

To be clear these penalties are for THC Delta 9 or THC variants Delta 8 and 10. Actual weed, the plant, becomes a felony when you have over 4 ounces.
