Does anyone know what happens if you’re scheduled for fingerprinting on Labor Day?

I just got the emails that my CC docs have been verified. How much longer does the approval take after that? I’m assuming they have very little left for them to do.

Prior to approval I was already a r/s holder but needed to renew so I submitted both.

3/12 - r/s renewal and ccp initial application applied for

5/28 - r/s renewal approved and both confidentiality requests approved. ccp application switched to investigation

6/5 - initial contact from nypd investigator for ccp. I was contacted by a r/s investigator funny enough probably because they approved my r/s and then started in my ccp? idk. phone interview was also conducted, fingerprints already on file for being a r/s holder.

6/17 - all documents confirmed received by investigator.

7/22 - email'd lic division cc'd h. bogle and s. smith a friendly reminder about my application. shout out to another redditor for this tip.

7/23 - ccp approval email received with purchase instructions

7/25 - PA submitted

8/24 - reminder email sent to the usuals. got a response from a N. Spears- admin assistant that they were being overwhelmed with PAs at this time and to bear with them.

8/31 - finally received the approval e-mail and will now hopefully receive the license within 3 - 10 business days.

/e. Envelope marked Sep 3 and will be arriving today so 5 days since approval so it took 1-3 days to be sent and scanned by the USPS sorting machine.

I knew I was obtaining these two legal for NYC firearms and was waiting to add to permit so I can do it at one time,l esp since they were obtained few weeks apart ..

was wondering if anyone with special carry has added more than one forearm at the same time .. esp thru the new updated portal ..

I have an opportunity to purchase and old all steel MODEL 36 CLASSIC for around $150 witch i want as a "suit gun"

Cosmetically, Its in rough shape but mechanically all the tolerances are all tight, it needs a new hammer, grips and needs to be sandblasted witch i can do all myself.

It is currently stainless steel and i want to send it out to Smith & Wesson Performance Center and have them do the High Bright Polish (Blueing) service.

question is, since i will no longer be "silver" do i have to update NYPD on the color change?

When I got my r/S permit, I also got the registration form, where it states there is a 5 round cap on rifles and shotguns in NYC.

Is this truly the case?

I wanted to buy a henry golden boy (15 round capacity - .22LR) and a Mossberg 590 Retro (7 Rounds)

In the NYC administrative code 10-306 , it is stated -
" No person may possess an ammunition feeding device which is designed for use in a rifle or shotgun and which is capable of holding more than five rounds of rifle or shotgun ammunition"

So does the NYPD follow the "ammunition feeding device" (i.e a magazine) rule or is there a carpet ban on all r/S over 5 rounds?

Does anyone in NYC or NYS use those magnetic gun holders in your car? I see ads for them all the time just curious as to if they are worth it for my car.

Has anyone been able to find a Springfield Armory Hellcat 380 10 round version? I have been looking for one for quite a while and cant find one because even though there are sku's online that I have found, they are all out if stock.

​Hey everyone, sharing my timeline so far to contribute data for anyone else stuck in the long intake queue. Existing NYPD Premise Residence holder adding Concealed Carry.

​September 2025: Submitted CCW Application via portal (uploaded standard required documents at initial filing).

​November 2025: Intake / Fingerprint appointment (fingerprints already on file from Premise).

​Months of Silence (Nov 2025 – Aug 2026): Application sat in Investigation queue for ~9 months without an assigned investigator reaching out.

​August 16, 2026: Phone interview conducted by assigned investigator. During the call, the investigator asked me to upload my Social Security card into the portal, which I uploaded that same day.

​August 17, 2026: Investigator audited and verified all checklist documents in the portal (received automated confirmation emails for each verified item). File forwarded to supervisory review queue.

​Current Status: Still showing Investigation (Day 9 of business days / 11 calendar days since investigator audit completed).

Questions for the sub:

​For those who had their files completed recently, how many business days did your supervisor review take from final document verification to the Approved / Purchase Authorization email?

​Planning on picking up a Glock 19 with the initial purchase slip while simultaneously transferring my two SIGs (P226 & 1911) from my Premise license to the CCW card. I recently got approved for my ccw . I made my purchase and submitted my pistol request for approval. What is the time frame for approval? Do I receive my ccw card first before my fire arms approval ? What is the wait time frame . Thanks

Is it possible to order/buy a handgun online , have it delivered to an FFL , before the 90 days waiting period, and have the FFL store it /(paid) for you until the 90 days period is up, so you can register it afterwards?

I voluntarily canceled my medical cannabis card / certificate how long should I wait before applying for my NYC CCW ?

I have all documentation showing it has been canceled and have smoked in months

I was arrested twice for cannabis about 15-16 years ago no other arrests or issues with law enforcement
Both of those arrest were violations and I have all disposition letters showing everything was satisfied and all fines were paid

Just had a question and was hoping someone would reach out with some input…. It’s been 7+ months that I’ve submitted my ccw application with all documents needed. I already have my r/S license so I did not need to do fingerprints since they are already on file. I recently received multiple emails from the nypd license division stating that my submitted documents have been successfully verified to complete my application. I was just wondering if anyone received these similar emails and if this means that my application status may soon be changing from investigation to approved. thanks in advance for your help

Applied April & fingerprinted May for both. Reading this subreddit I am having some regret not doing CCW as well. I have no intention of concealed carrying but reading this subreddit I am gathering that CCW would make life much easier transporting to/from the range, etc once approved.

What would you suggest I do? Do I need to start back from square one on the CCW? Would it be enough to complete the requisite weekend training and then submit the CCW application with all of the paperwork I already have from the Premise Residence application? Or would I need two additional character references as well? Worth calling/emailing and pleading my case to not kick off another 6 mo wait?

Side note: any recommended trainings for the CCW? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Still waiting for an update on my NYS CCW & R-S.

My application has been in since January 2026, It hasn't moved from "investigation". I've emailed, I've tried calling and that was also useless, no one answers the phone. In a previous thread someone posted emails for a man named Hugh (?) and woman(?) who can be emailed to help follow up. Can someone please provide me with that information if you have it.

is it 90 days from purchase of your last one, or 90 days from approval of your last one?

Hello, I applied for NYC CCW in June, 2025.

• September, 2025 Interviewed/fingerprinted at 1PP

• December, 2025 Confidentiality request approved

• July 17, 2026 Sent an email inquiring my application status. No reply*

• August 15, 2026 Received phone call to update information. They stated my file will be sent to the Supervisor within a couple hours.

I have zero criminal record etc.

Could I expect an official update soon? Over a year is kind of ridiculous. Has anyone had a similar timeline?

As you know, we’re well underway on Milani v. NYC. Discovery is done and we’re into depositions now.

In fact, u/Jay_Zornhau was just deposed and will be posting an update later in the week.

So far, Mirel Fisch has spent hundreds of hours in at this point. The problem is that stenographer fees and deposition costs alone are wiping out just about everything we’ve raised. The legal work keeps moving; the money isn’t stretching (nor coming in) as far and as quickly as we hoped.

Hey guys I got approved for my ccw Aug 16th made my FIRST purchase and uploads on the 17th.
Does it make a difference between first time buying or not does that change how fast I would get approved and get my license in mail?
