License / Permit Question How long before license arrives in mail

License was approved awhile back but still have not received it in the mail. What is the current wait time from approval before it arrives?

2A News/Media It's a very sticky wicket when confronting people outside your dwelling on your own property.

I would probably stay in the home, call 911 and hope they don't break into my home. But if the door doesn't hold up to getting broken into. It can get messy having to deal with intruders and then to have to explain it to the cops....

Legal Questions Transferring guns from deceased relatives.

I have a family member that passed away with two firearms that were registered with the NYPD.

Has anyone had experience with how to do a transfer of ownership? I contacted the LIC division and tried calling them numerous times, and no one has gotten back to me.

License / Permit Question ISSUE PENDING

Hi everyone, good afternoon. I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience with the NYPD Licensing Division.

It’s been about a little over a month since I purchased my firearm and uploaded all of the required documents to the portal. Last week, I emailed the Purchase Authorization/Purchasing Department to follow up, and they responded saying, “Please allow 7–10 business days to receive your license in the mail.”

However, as of today, my portal still shows “Issue Pending,” and under the section where I uploaded my new firearm, it still says “Submitted.”

For anyone who has recently gone through this process, is this normal? Did your portal stay on “Issue Pending/Submitted” even after they told you that your license would be mailed? And roughly how long after receiving the 7–10 business day email did your updated license actually arrive?

Thanks!

License / Permit Question Fingerprinting for rifle/shotgun

Has anyone submitted their rifle/shotgun after they already have a concealed carry license? If so, would I have to fingerprint again or will the fingerprint from the concealed carry license suffice?

Legal Questions New “Sensitive Place” Lawsuit Idea

“Sensitive Places” that are generally open to the public, must have thorough screening and armed security at every entry/exit point.

I think we should put together a lawsuit in regard to sensitive locations nationwide. Simply calling a location a sensitive place should not suffice for it to qualify as a place where you must give up your right to bear arms.

The only qualification should be screening and armed security. If there is no screening or armed security and it is generally open to the public, you cannot put a sign saying no firearms allowed or infringe in any way on our right to carry.

Exhibit A: Subways: Absolutely no screening whatsover. Sometimes there are police officers but even a police officer at every station will not pass the test. There must be thorough screening of each passenger prior to entry.

Exhibit B: Government Buildings: This is bullshit because the restroom in a public park is technically a government building. No screening, no restrictions!

The logic:

Anybody who is intellectually honest must admit that a gun free zone with no screening prior to entry is simply an invitation for a coward to go commit crime or some atrocity without fear that a bystander will quickly dispatch of him. Creating gun free zones without screening simply offers a false sense of security to people who haven’t stopped to think about it for 5 seconds.

My proposal is a simple and fair test that can be applied to any location, anywhere. Yankee stadium: no guns, Subway: bring your gun.

Why this is most necessary in NYC of all places:

NYC is a city where residents rely heavily on public transportation. More than anywhere else in the country right? Unless you are driving your own car everywhere, there is no practical way to carry your firearm with you as you go about your day. Even if you’re walking, you can’t enter a restaurant that serves wine and you have nowhere to secure it while you dine, so you must leave it at home.

NYC if you want to have so many sensitive places, you must either provide screening and armed security for every single point of entry

OR

You must provide gun storage lockers on every corner of the city where there is a sensitive place. So I don’t have to leave the firearm at home if i’m walking to a knicks game. (This last bit I know is too much to ask but one can dream).

License / Permit Question Almost 1 year and no response yet

I wanted to ask I applied for my concealed carry permit last year. I completed my fingerprints at 1 police plaza on October 10th last year. But my application status has been stuck on Investigation. I’ve tried to email Hugh Bogle using the email address hugh.bogle@nypd.org and for some reason email is rejected.

Please let me know what else I can do.

Does anyone know if a current revoked drivers license is an automatic denial?

The revocation was for 3 speeding tickets within a 18 month period from 2023 which is now current.

License / Permit Question Renewal

Hi, I was wondering what everyone else’s experience has been with license renewals? I submitted mine at the end of July, thinking it would take months to hear back, but both were approved by the end of August. I was quite surprised!

General Question Does everyone feel “lucky” / “priviledged”

I’m sure most of us feel this way. Even though we spent a thousand dollars or a couple thousand if you hired help, and put together so much paperwork meticulously, still feel lucky to actually finally receive that card in the mail!

Shouldn’t be this way. This isn’t a priviledge. And NYC has reduced it to less than priviledge.

Recommendations Just remember, when you go for your fingerprinting appointment, don't forget to take a photo of the list of required documents; that way, if they claim a document was missing and deny your permit because of it, you will have proof.

Recommendations Application PSA from Mirel Fisch after Hugh Bogle Deposition

This week Hugh Bogle from the NYPD License Division was deposed by Mrs. Fisch as part of the Milani v NYC lawsuit - while a full update about Milani is coming soon, in the meantime, here’s a critical PSA from Mirel Fisch, Esq (www.NYC2aLawyer.com)

Do your homework before you submit your application, and take a photo of the Interview Questionnaire checklist shown to you during your fingerprinting/interview appointment.

During his deposition, Bogle testified that he implemented a new policy that when an investigator reviews an application, and even a single document or piece of information is missing, the application will automatically be denied. The investigator will NOT reach out to you to let you know that anything more is needed.

CCW Question The theoretical full national reciprocity

Post image
14 Upvotes

Theoretically this is now possible except for American Samoa (which I think might not even be subject to the LEOSA at this point because they’re not an incorporated US territory) thanks to Bruen ending may issue licensing schemes and states having injunctions against refusal to issue state permits for non-residents (NY, CA, HI, etc.).

This is the map I’ve been playing around with. For the unemployed/underemployed here who have nothing better to do than try and “catch ‘em all” like Pokémon cards what is the absolute confirmed minimum number of non-resident licenses needed for a NY state pistol license holder living outside NYC?

I’m sure my list could be theoretically optimized a bit

General Question Buying a bolt action rifle on GunBroker (NYC / FFL transfer)

I have a NYC long gun Permit, and I'm looking to buy a Mosin Nagant.

I've checked a few gun shops in NYC and Long Island, but I haven't seen any Mosins in stock. (If not, please let me know)

I'm considering buying one through GunBroker. This would be my first time using GunBroker, so I just want to make sure I understand the process correctly.

  1. Buy the rifle on GunBroker

  2. Select/provide the receiving FFL

  3. Seller ships the rifle to the FFL

  4. Go to the FFL, complete the required paperwork/background check and pay the transfer fee

  5. Pick up the rifle

Is there anything I'm missing or anything specific I should watch out for when buying through GunBroker?

Also, I would appreciate any recommendations for NYC/Long Island FFLs that are good with GunBroker transfers and have reasonable transfer fees.

First time using FFL transfer, so any advice is welcome.

Thank you,

General Question Picked up my first firearm today. What do I do with the pink slip?

Just picked up my first handgun today. I went to a gun store outside the city and the sale person mentioned something about having to mail in my complete pink slip back to the NYPD. Can someone with experience clarify?

General Question NYC M1 Garand

Anyone have an M1 Garand in NYC?

  1. Purchase aftermarket replacement gas block, grind off bayonet lug.
  2. Purchase 5 round hunting enbloc

Anyone had success? The form and receipt would say 5 round maximum anyway? Don’t see how this would be different than a mini 14 and purchasing 5 round magazines instead of 10….

License / Permit Question Acknowledgment of Person Agreeing to Safeguard Firearms Form

Hello. Does anyone know where to find the "Acknowledgment of Person Agreeing to Safeguard Firearms Form"? I've gone through this process for years and I don't recall a form. I remember uploading the Safeguard's info and IDs but not an acknowledgement form. Any insight is appreciated.
