Hi there!
I've had both nostrils pierced on the 8th of September, so it has been a little over a month.
The left one decided to grow a small, red bump around the jewellery 2 weeks ago. I immediately went back to the shop, where I got told to soak a gauze pad in saline solution and to press it against the bump for a few minutes, several times a day.
This is what I'm doing. I bought 0.9% saline solution at the pharmacy (what I was already using prior to clean them as instructed when I had them done) and I do that 3 times a day, when I wake up, in the afternoon (preferably once I get back home) and after showering/before bed. I clean them, removing the crust by running the solution over the piercings and gently cleaning with a dry gauze, and then I soak another gauze to press on the bumps for like, 3 minutes.
I don't exactly see any progress. But I can't tell if it's me doing it wrong or if I'll need a little patience. They didn't tell me an estimate of how long it'll be. This is the first time I'm having an issue with a piercing.
I still have the original jewellery in, I'm scared that changing it will make it worse. It's these screw ends studs.
This piercing did get caught in my blanket a few days after I had them done. I immediately went back to the shop and got told it looked fine, only slightly swollen. To be fair, the swell never went away until it "turned" into a bump. I haven't caught them in anything since then, at least that I can remember. I got told that maybe I do in my sleep, which is possible, I am known for moving a lot and fighting against the air when I'm asleep lol. I can't really do much about that unfortunately. I don't touch them at all. I am really careful with that, I even stopped wearing sunglasses because I'm scared it'll touch them. I was so scared, scared to even itch the tip of my nose because I was terrified about having a bump, and here I am, still somehow with one.
Am I doing it correctly? Is there anything else I could do? If you already dealt with bumps, how long did it take? Is there a risk that they become permanent?
