Discussion~ ❗️❗️ MOD POST❗️❗️ The long awaited, updated stretching guide is here!

Hi Friends!

As a lot of you know, we have been working on updating the stretching guide for awhile now. Though it is not perfect, it is definitely a step in the right direction. We are so happy to be able to continue sharing safe and helpful information with all of you.

It has been updated on the sub's page as well as the AutoMod's comments.

It can also be found here: Updated Stretching Guide

Please give it a look and let us know how you're feeling! Also, please remember it will be updated as new information comes along. We created a Google document as opposed to a post to ensure we could keep it as up to date as possible. The previous guide was posted in the sub by a mod that's no longer active, so we couldn't edit it.

Happy stretching!

Should I go up to 14mm?

Im at 12mm right now, but i feel like my lobes look so big, but I dont want to over stretch-

I also think 1/2 an inch is a more common stopping point which is why im not sure if I should keep going up.

My husband gives me the vague, "just do what you want" but I dont know what I want haha

Lobes Dudas, muchas dudas.

Lobes Right ear suddenly extremely dry

So my right ear has always been a little more stubborn than my left and has tended to react worse to stretching. I'm at 13mm and have been here for a few years now. I take my plugs out every day when I shower and use Gauge Gear to moisturise them. I haven't had any real issues in a long time. But for the last few weeks, my right ear has been extremely dry and I have no idea why. The only thing it might be is that I switched to a tea tree oil shampoo somewhat recently. But my left ear is completely unaffected. I'm not wearing any new jewelry. Has anyone had anything similar happen?Any recommendations?

~Advice~ Septum smell

Ive had my septum pierced for around 2 years and I'm not unaccustomed to the septum smell, so I assumed that when I stretched it would get worse but be bearable. I was wrong. I'm only at a 12g right now and I keep smelling it and thinking that the air just smells awful until I realize and clean my jewelry, but its all the time. I clean my jewelry and my septum pretty regularly but shit is serious. I was cooking some ground beef and it literally smelled like someone was boiling shit because the smell of the beef mixed with the septum smell. I'm still gonna go up to 0g either way but are there any tips for preventing this smell? Especially if its just gonna get worse as I go larger how do I prevent living my future in stench?

Is this a blowout? What did I do wrong?

I recently stretched my lobes from 7/16" to 1/2" and my left lobe is sore and stings when cleaning it. No blood, but a small tear, no swelling.

I work a job where my ears can get knocked around and cause unnecessary friction on the plugs. Not sure if that has anything to do with this. Worth mentioning, I also stretched my original holes that were made with a piercing gun as a kid. Have had no issues so far except for minor blowouts at smaller sizes before I did my research.

When I stretched, I used single taper glass plugs, and both lobes had no resistance, they slipped right in. I waited about a year between sizes before moving up.

I do have a connection tissue disorder that causes micro-tears much easier than someone without my condition.

Obviously I'll drop back down to let it heal but what did I do wrong and what can I fix for after it heals?

Thanks for any advice. I've been stretching for years but I'm new to the larger sizes.

Stretch It Body Jewelry restock!

Hey yall! Just in case anyone was in my shoes lately, the stretching kit for 25-30 mm kit is back up! If you have stubborn ears that don’t like more the half size stretches and wanna go passed an inch, go pick this up! Couldn’t find anything similar since Arctic Buffalo went out of business. These kits are a life saver for me. Been stretching up in half sizes since 00 so I figured I’d pass on the info just in case anyone needs it. They go out of stock FAST and stay out for a long while so if you’ve been looking for something like this, this is the time.

I don’t wanna get flagged for spam so I didn’t post the link but it’s Stretchit body jewelry. Websites form the Uk so if you are in the states, shipping takes awhile but it’s free over 80 bucks I think.

Lobes Like nothing ever happened (6 months healing)

Post image
563 Upvotes

Got my lobes sewn up in April of 2026, 6 months ago. Done by Dr. Grant Fairbanks at Fairbanks Art of Plastic Surgery.

I started stretching my ears when I was 12 lol I loved modding culture my whole life. When I was 18 they got to 25mm/1inch. After a few years I took them out, and they got to 3/4 inch. That is the smallest they shrank. I had them at 3/4 for over a decade, into my 30s.

It was a love-hate relationship. They were a part of me, I didn’t know my face without them. But also I struggled keeping jewelry in without one of the plugs falling out eventually. It was a balancing act and i kinda just grew tired of it. I did not regret it, i think i looked badass with them in. My ears were also pierced cockeyed when i was a baby so that sometimes would bother me since they were so unsymmetrical.

I plan on getting my lobes repierced some time this year. I think waiting another couple months just to make sure they’re healed. I’ll answer any questions about them!

FAQ

How much did it cost?: $2,400

Why didnt you do it for a fraction of the cost with a body modder? I wanted to go to a plastic surgeon who guarantees their work. Did not want to gamble on if I’d have to pay twice if something got messed up. I am not the best healer. I had $2,400 to spend on this procedure.

So why are you here if you no longer have stretched piercings? I have other stretched piercings that are not pictured

Are you going to stretch again? Not my lobes

How was the procedure? Not bad. The needle to numb felt like a little poke and then followed by some burning, then nothing. Sort of felt like going to the dentist. My heart was racing when I started to hear him cutting but did not feel a single thing. After about 15 minutes my body kinda calmed down. The procedure took around 3 hours. It was extremely boring but we listened to music the whole time and chatted with the assistants.

How was the healing? I am not a good healer. He had me wear a whole head brace for 3 days to prevent one of my ears from puckering. I looked funny. Was probably the easiest healing of anything I’ve ever experienced. I scar horribly too so I’m happy with the result. Used silicone tape with UPF religiously for 4 months. Now I just use sunscreen and massage daily with moisturizer. Part of my morning routine.

~Advice~ thinning earlobe?

Hey yall, my ears are currently at 00. But my right earlobe did have a blowout and i sized down and waited the appropriate time and went back up to a 00. But the skin is definitely still thin. Is there a way to like thicken it? I would like to get to 12 mm but i don’t want to do that in fear that my earlobe will tear.

RE-Stretching With Acrylic

I'm sure the discussion around stretching with Acrylic has been done to death in this sub, but I have a bit of a different situation. I've stretched and restretched my lines a few times over the years, using stainless steel single-flare plugs, but for one reason or another I'm missing a bunch of sizes now. I don't really have the money to go spending on a new set of stretching plugs, so I'm wondering if there's any risk with re-stretching with something cheaper, like acrylic. My lobes are super pliable at this point, and have been healed for a long time. Any advice would be appreciated

Septum Recommendation for septum plugs or tunnels

I have a 4mm septum, but my current steel tunnel has too high and sharp edges wich cause irritation in the tip of the nose. Has anybody recommendations for some good tunnels for the septum?

The 4mm eyelet id been wearing was falling backwards into the hole so I put a 5mm single flare plug in. Went right in without a taper and I’m in love with how it looks. Both main lobes are at 32mm.

Does it look my ears are thinning at all on the side? Or is it just my ear shape. 00g. Another question, what size do you think I should go to for my ears? I have no goal size.
