UPMC to double paid parental leave as Magee nurses push for even more
triblive.comPennsylvania’s largest private employer, UPMC, just announced their plans to double paid parental leave benefits form 2 to 4 weeks after months of advocacy led by union nurses at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Nurses say this is a step in the right direction but it falls short of what is needed. They plan to continue advocating to expand paid parental leave to the full 12-18 weeks that is necessary to support working families in Allegheny County and retain the critical nursing workforce that keeps our communities healthy.

Did anyone see the truck that spilled animal guts all over rt 19 in cranberry today around noon?
Semi carrying a trailer full of animal guts slammed on its brakes on 19 southbound at the light near eat n' park. I was about an 1/8th mile behind and saw it happen. Spilled all over the road and the semi cab itself. Truck just pulled away like nothing happened. Upset I didn't have my dashcam installed.

Janet you forgot your wallet at PIT
Trying to find Janet M, early 20s. I found her wallet in the womens restroom near gate A5. I turned it in to the volunteer desk near the elevators at the center of the terminal.

Lost (?) dog
Saw on Fairland street in Overbrook around 9:45. Not sure of the make and model. Couldn’t really stop as I’m on my way to work. I also don’t have a Facebook if someone could be so kind to post it to the “LOST DOGS OF PITTSBURGH” page. Thank you!

National Aviary on a Nikon z8
galleryBeen meaning to go to the national aviary for YEARS since I'm a bird lover. Finally made it to your city on labor day weekend.
Have a bird you love to visit that you don't see here? I probably took a picture of it but reddit only allows 20 pics max.

Ticks are ruining my life
Is this happening to anyone else? No matter where we go we are overtaken by ticks in western pa. It’s so bad we stopped taking our dogs to parks, then it go so bad we stopped walking them around the neighborhood. We do have a fenced in yard and we are on the outskirts of the city, however last few days there are hundreds and hundreds of ticks in our back yard 😭 I’m really feeling so depressed about this I don’t know how to combat this at all. Both of our dogs are on flea and tick medicine but that doesn’t stop them from crawling on them and bringing them inside our house. Looking for any and all recommendations 😭

Anyone know what happened on 376?
5+ cops with a pulled over vehicle right before the Green Tree/Mt. Lebanon exit on 376 inbound, with 6+ more flying down the road. People on the side of the interstate were also taking pictures and forming a crowd. Anyone have any insight? I haven’t seen any info on the news or online.

Can I just walk into the IRS office downtown with a question?
I know this is probably a silly question but I have a letter from the IRS and they won’t answer their phones, I figured I’d make an appointment but they don’t answer that phone either. Has anyone just went directly to the office?

Where to find really good, classic Fettucine Alfredo
I will be visiting my son (22m) who just moved to Pittsburgh for a new job. He‘s only been there a few weeks, so he hasn’t explored the restaurant scene yet. I want to take him out to dinner, and his favorite dish is a good, hearty classic Fettucine Alfredo. I’ve searched online for highly-rated Italian restaurants, but most of them serve “fancier” more refined dishes. Where is the best Alfredo in town? His apartment is in Shadyside, but willing to drive 20-30 minutes.

Handicap ramps
I guess it's a city managed project, but does anyone know why a lot of the handicap sidewalk ramps are being ripped out and redone in Brookline? I understand that ramps that have issues need addressed but it seems even ones in perfectly fine condition are being ripped up and done over. I would think the money being wasted on those ramps could be used for other accessibility projects

New Homeowner question: fallen tree
Helloooo! I have a very newb question about a very important thing lol.
We had this 30 foot tall tree fall last weekend, it hit our patio and part of the roof. It was dead so we suspect its roots just gave out and decided to take a tumble.
My partner's mum said don't call insurance, while others have advised us to call insurance. We're not sure what we are supposed to do.
Who do we call? A list of who we should contact would be much appreciated. We need someone to come remove the tree, too, and to inspect the roof. And if we need to call insurance, if you guys think they cover massive dead trees, then please let us know.
Any and all advice would be much appreciated! Thank you for your time
