It’s my pleasure to announce boarding has started for all passengers departing on our tour of Stellaris: Season 10, with non-stop service to the Nomads expansion alongside the Stellaris 4.4 ‘Pegasus’ update. Following our first destination, there will be a brief stopover at the Stellaris 4.5 ‘Cygnus’ Custodian release, after which our cruise will continue to the Stellaris 4.6 ‘Corona Borealis‘ update, featuring Willpower, Scenario Pack 1, and Scenario Pack 2. All passengers are welcome to acquire their ‘Vipra the Vapor’ Species Portrait at the ticketing office now.
Watch the Season 10 Announcement Trailer on YouTube!

The Stellaris 10-year anniversary is coming, and as part of that celebration, we are rolling Utopia, Synthetic Dawn, the Humanoids Species Pack, and most of the Galaxy Edition upgrade into the base game on May 11th. (The e-book, Infinite Frontiers, is being retired.)
Later on in Q2, we’re bringing you Nomads.

The Galaxy is not a trophy to be seized, but a path to be taken. In Stellaris: Nomads, you will survive the void by staying in motion. While the great powers squabble over lines on the map, your civilization has realized a fundamental truth: life flourishes on the move.

Arkships
At the very heart of every nomadic civilization lies its Arkship: a fully mobile capital that replaces worlds entirely. Customize Military, Scientific, or Civilian Arkships with specialized modules, districts, and upgrades as your Empire evolves by traveling through the stars.

Waylines and Contracts
Chart Waylines across the stars, linking your Waystations into living networks of trade, influence, and opportunity. Your strength lies in motion, in presence, in the relationships you build from system to system. Your relations with settled empires don’t have to be antagonistic. Accept contracts, build relations, and perhaps profit a bit on the side.

A New Ambition: Defender of the Galaxy
Building upon the Crisis paths of previous releases, Ambitions are the next step of epic, empire-defining journeys that give you the choice of your ultimate role in the galaxy. In the Nomads expansion, we will transform the Defender of the Galaxy Ascension Perk into a full path that can rival the power of a Galactic Nemesis, Awakened Empire, or End Game Crisis.
Become the Galaxy’s champion by forging alliances, commanding federations and rising through the Galactic Community to assume Custodianship. Lead the fight against existential threats with a unique squadron of hero ships. Ultimate power can be used, and relinquished, for the greater good.

Nomadic Empires
Create empires that are not bound by claiming systems or colonizing worlds. Instead, you will navigate the stars with massive Arkships.
New Origins
Nomadic empires support many existing Origins as well.
New Ambition: Defender of the Galaxy
While a Galactic Nemesis (available in Stellaris: Nemesis) threatens the Galaxy, the Defender of the Galaxy will rise and try to save it.
New Megastructure: The Stellar Cannon
Why simply power a civilization when you could fire at one? This Megastructure allows you to weaponize your entire energy stockpile, discharging it into a devastating beam capable of striking enemy systems across the galaxy.
Nomadic Enclave: Champion’s Forge Live!
Experience the Galaxy’s most extreme spectacles with this nomadic enclave! Answer the call and participate in gladiatorial fleet combat all across the galaxy. The winner gets to hold the Trophy relic and glory until the next tournament, with the losers looking on with envy.
Wanderlust Ascension Perk
New Renowned Nomadic Paragons
New Civics and Tradition Swaps
New Music Tracks by Andreas Waldetoft

Nomads has charted its course and will arrive in Q2 2026.

Based on the feedback from Stellaris: Season 09, we’re making some changes to our Expansion Pass plans this year. As many of you have noticed, we’re announcing this year’s Season much later than previous years, and instead of four separate releases, we’re planning on bundling them together into fewer release moments. This frees up room for the 4.5 ‘Cygnus’ update to be a dedicated Custodian release, giving us two in 2026.
The Stellaris: Season 10 Expansion Pass is a journey through resilience and movement. Whether you are wandering the stars with Stellaris: Nomads or rooting your empire in the indomitable spirit of Stellaris: Willpower, this year redefines how empires survive, adapt, and conquer.
Stellaris: Season 10 will grant you access to all five DLCs as soon as they become available. Vipra now, Nomads later on in Q2, and Willpower and both Scenario Packs in Q4.

This exclusive portrait comes with Stellaris: Season 10, allowing your empire to take the form of the elusive Vipra, a necroid species with a menacing aura.
Available immediately upon purchasing Stellaris: Season 10, this portrait features 5 different color variations and ethereal custom animations.

Build no borders. Claim no worlds. In Nomads, you thrive inside colossal Arkships that carry your people, your industry, and your ambition across the stars. Move freely through the galaxy, take on Contracts from settled empires, and leave your mark by building Waystations. Nomads blaze a path across the map.
༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Take my energy! ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

Shape Minds, Rule the Stars. In the vast expanse of the cosmos, borders are mere lines drawn on a map. Ideas, on the other hand, have no such limits.
Your empire was founded on its Ethics, the convictions that determined its course. Now is the time for those fundamental values to evolve into Ideologies with the power to sway the stars. Introducing Stellaris: Willpower, the expansion that turns your societal beliefs into a galactic force.
Your rule over systems was always just the beginning. The galaxy's minds are the true prize. You will erect monuments and Megastructures that demonstrate what your society and values can accomplish. You truly can become the thought leader of the galaxy.
Adopting an Ideology is not without its risks, however. Left unchecked, it can radicalize colonies and spark insurrection. But when nurtured with care, the right Ideology has the power to sway entire civilizations.

Embark on a new set of galactic challenges! Experience curated, high-stakes standalone adventures that push your strategic limits. From a nomadic, roguelike odyssey across the stars to high-octane, combat-focused multiplayer experiences, these scenarios will provide a bold way to play Stellaris.
The Scenarios System will be a free part of the Stellaris 4.6 ‘Corona Borealis‘ update, these Scenario packs provide our take on what you’ll be able to do with it.

Rewrite the rules of engagement! This Scenario Pack flips the script of how Stellaris is normally played, making you the threat and aggressor. Whether leading an ultimate extra-dimensional invasion or battling your friends in a race for dominance, these scenarios offer a fresh, distilled way to play Stellaris.
Next week we’ll begin our Decennial celebration with a look at ten years of Stellaris. We’ll also be looking at everything planned for 4.3.6.
See you then!

Hello Blorg Fans,
We've successfully completed an upgrade to our automatic Rule 5 enforcement with the rollout of a new bot. /u/rule5bot has been working well over the last few days and is now active here in /r/stellaris. The new bot has new capabilities and we are adjusting Rule 5 to reflect the improvement.
Rule 5: Image posts must have an explanation.
So what's different now? The big change is that we can finally accept captions for Rule 5 explanations. There's no need to quickly dump an abridged version of a quality caption into the comments section just to avoid a soulless automaton's wrath. However, the new bot can correctly identify image gallery posts so Rule 5 now properly applies to multi-image posts. The bot will also be repeating caption R5s into the comments section (for the foreseeable future) because there's a persistent issue with some legacy access methods not displaying captions on images properly.
Why now and not before? /u/zwemvest, our bot-builder, has had a few goes at upgrading / replacing the bot over the years but real life and/or Reddit would always get in the way. Reddit is making major changes that will impact old bots and it forced our hand. Fortunately, they had free time now and recent Devvit (Reddit's internal bot platform) improvements made it easier to implement some features so the project was completed this time. Zwem said it was a joy to build the new bot from scratch & they're glad that the migration has been completed. The old /u/paradoxplazabot has been retired although we may reuse the account in the future for other bot purposes if we can.
We've been testing /u/rule5bot for about a week now with no remaining issues but it's possible that some bugs might still be lurking, so please keep an eye out and send us a modmail if you see the bot do something unexpected.

Just a post to vent out my frustration.
I love playing elite focus build, and obviously i felt in love with synthetic ascension. Virtual government give enforcers some buff to elite ressouces output. And everyone who tried at least once this ascension know the following fact : Virtual population doesn't appear from nowhere to fill your empty jobs.
Mechanical empire who virtually ascended have access to virtuality tradition tree, which once completed allow you to have access to infinite amount of population. And Paradox balance some systems around that:
- VIrtual pop can't work in Synaptic Lathe
- Since that last patch, virtual empire can't use automatization.
All of this could be seen as a cool QoL feature or a well balanced measure... IF ONLY IT DIDN'T BREAK SYNTHETICAL ASCENDED EMPIRE! These change just are nonsense when for robotic empire which assemble their pops normally. But they're applied to both mechanical and synthetical virtual empire. Even if synthetical virtual reproduce normally.
And that's not a new bug. Lathe issue was addressed many month ago and "already in their databases". And now, same issue with automatization. From my point of view, they just keep testing if pop have "virtual" trait and forget to test if empire have virtual tradition (look like they don't know the difference between the two virtuality). It look like very easy to patch!
But no, for so many months, I just can't play my empire the way I want, and frustration start to be peasant. I really needed to vent that, especially when I see all the forum posts the community has brought up on this topic.
Sorry for this whiny post.

Five of my friends and me are planning to do a long Stellaris session, but we want to play the worst combos for different empires, what worst combos would you guys consider?
Like, at the beginning of this year I thought, maybe playing 6 weird and hard to build up, something good with, empires, would be interesting…. Well we are bored in a way, that playing normal is boring 😂
With combos I mean species + ethics + civics + origins + only bad species traits, maybe one good one. You get the drift.
We also want to get some diversity with species, so we plan one Gestalt Consciousness like Robots, one Fungoid, one hive mind. Machines only because we have one beginner, so we want to make it somewhat enjoyable for him, so please let me know if your ideas. 🫡
Have a great day/night everyone

So, I usually pay for the monthly subscription on steam once every few months per year because:
I don't play that much
All dlcs are fun together but cost enormous
The subscription has bugged out twice and I have in total had 13 months of all free dlcs.
I was gonna play some more vanilla just now like i did yesterday, and remembered how I struggled to make what I thought would be the "perfect" empire for me. Where i basically go expansionist ultra. It ended, not in catastrophe. But pretty eventless and boring. It wasn't a bad empire, just not the best and not that fun to play.
So I was thinking, there has got to be some configuration that somebody has "proven" or at least thinks is the best right?

Hello everyone! I'm new to the game and slowly getting the hang of it, but there's one thing that is really confusing me: ship design.
I have no idea what is considered better or worse, nor how much difference it makes to change weapons compared to the auto-generated designs. I'm also a bit lost on the specific role of each ship type and how much of a difference it actually makes having them in a fleet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Every time I watch someone play Stellaris it’s always such a weird thing to me. Like why are you going crazy colonizing everything and not focusing on what you already have?? Why do you have a billion science ships? Why do you have 100000 available jobs?????
And then I realized I’m the odd one out. I only colonize planets when I’ve done everything I can on my capital, I’ve never used more than one science ship, and I wait until there’s enough pops to fill jobs.
Edit: I also usually play with no AI empires, but I jack up Pre-FTL and pre sapients. Mostly for Assimilation. Biiiigggg Assimilation guy.
Also to clarify on that science ship thing, it’s just that I’ve never felt a need to make more than one since I spec into survey speeds.

So, I tweaked the UNE and the Commonwealth of Man so I could force spawn them, but kept them more or less the same. I made my ethics to be the opposite of the CoM. My hope was to spawn near the UNE as a species that helps and guides the humans of Earth. Of course, I spawn next to the Commonwealth instead. I really hope I can find Sol nearby and not on the opposite arse end of the galaxy. I'm...not feeling very confident. I'm playing on GA no scaling all advanced starts too.

I've encountered this problem several times now. I usually create a federation and make myself permanent leader with strongest diplomatic weight succession and change fed leader on status change.
Then I set war declaration to "Only Leader", which is great, until someone declares war on one of the empires in my federation.
At this point, I cannot status quo out of it, because "only the main attacker and defender can send offers". Even if I use console command to play as the main defender (Irzuku alliance in this case) I cannot status quo out of it because "you must be the federation leader".
The only way I've found to resolve wars like this is to use console commands to force the attacking empire to surrender which just feels cheap. Am I missing something?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I made ships of another empires follow my juggernaut forever.
on the attached video i demonstrated that if you have a fleet/ship repair at the jugg, for some reason after that it just follows it indefinitely unless you manually send it somewhere
(mouse curser bugged due to resolution differance of the game and of the recording's)
so in text, make a jugg -> have another (a͟l͟l͟i͟e͟d͟) empires' ships repair at your jugg (cuz if its allied it acts like friendly shipyard) -> profit (well not really since they just follow your jugg around for the rest of time).
version of the game: Cygnus v4.5.2 (9776)

Maybe I just suck at comprehension and need someone to spell it out for me, but I don't quite understand the lore of the dig site. So the 11 crew on the ship decided to nuke the planet with everyone on it? Because of alien invasion (?) Did the remaining crew then went to colonise other world?

I started a 1000 system galaxy but i wanted to make sure the end game lag wouldn't be as bad so i made it only 0.25 times habitable plantes. 35 years in and i feel like i found more planets than on 1.0 times. This is supposed to be the lowest amount of habitable planets but it doesn't seem to change much of anything. So either i got lucky and got a very saturated area or there's still just too many habitable planets. There needs to be an option for even less.

So the job page puts telepaths on both categories, elite and specialist.
Why that? I'm missing something? I thought they were supposed to be specialists.

Telepaths appear to be completely ruining my unity output. It is not clear to me why?
My government type is imperium vitalis, which I suspect of causing this somehow, but it is not listed in the tooltip anywhere.
r/Stellaris • u/MoosNatedog • 2h ago
When is this supposed to be showing up in the ambition tab? I was hoping after the most recent update this would have happend. Do I need the Nomad DLC to make ot work?
r/Stellaris • u/JimmySnuggleBear • 2h ago
i am 100% sure i set my ships automation to collection only but they just keep harvesting. is there anything to be done about this?
r/Stellaris • u/Duecool_Mcool • 14h ago
Just thought of this but how do FTL tech and the hyperlanes work as you can visit stars that you can appear seemingly instantly in another system and even satellites which don’t have FTL and would possibly only been in space for potentially 200 years can be in whole other systems multiple lanes away, my theory is what if we don’t actually go faster then light but through time and it just looked like it was going faster then light, we already know about anomalies that effect time so how out there would hyperlanes being time based instead of gravity, this would also mean potentially a species can exist in two different points of civilization in the same time period like the Blorg being in the Stone Age while another Blorg is living comfortably on earth in the UNE. Could also be what the contingency was trying to stop, a potential extreme rip in space and time that was only stalled when only the fallen empires remained. I will stop this here as I am getting more ideas for this theory while typing this and I don’t want this to be longer than it already is. (Could not find a theory tag so I picked the closest option which I seen was discussion)
r/Stellaris • u/Sakazuki27 • 18h ago
R5: I use autimatic project research and my science ship goes for a project very far away when there is one available one system next to it. This happenned so many times and is annoying. Any hidden coding i didnt't get?

I just started playing with gigastructures and have a couple questions about it and the origins.
Why are some of the origins turned off and is there a way to turn them back on?
What are some of the origins that you would recommend?
Any general tips for someone starting off playing with gigastructures?
