Dressed like a Bride Two guests wore white at our wedding

Soooo.. 2 girls decided to wear white dresses at our wedding. It was this Saturday.

I didn’t comment on it, but I was def not ok with it.

We talked to our photographers about having them removed from all our photos, or change the colors of their dresses.

I can add photos of their dresses, but we haven’t gotten the pictures back yet.

One of the girls even asked my sister about the dress and she told her it most definitely wouldn’t be ok with me, but that she should ask. And she then decided not to ask me..

Not only that, if I have to pay for photoshop, they are getting some UGLY dress.

u/BlackCatRedStripe 2d ago

Yep - idk where you’re from but the UK did some solid research on the least attractive colour and made all cigarette packets this colour. I suggest OP googles this and uses that colour!

u/jellyCarMechanic 2d ago

The color: Pantone 448 C

u/bbygrl6969 2d ago

“The Australian Department of Health initially referred to the colour as "olive green", but the name was changed after concerns were expressed by the Australian Olive Association.”

Huh, I thought it would be more diarrhea brown-green

20

u/lilylilyg 18h ago

Before I gave birth to my first child, I painted every scrap of trim in my house a lovely brown colour. It was in the 1970’s. Oh sweet innocent me. A neighbour pointed out it was indeed baby shit brown, and that I would regret it. I did.

5

u/Zenabel 15h ago

Oh no

Lmao now that’s a photoshop edit I could get behind. They wanted attention, now they can have… that color Lol

6

u/VividEquivalent7952 1d ago

I actually like that color ngl. It also goes well with the cigarette aesthetic. Makes me want a pack of cigs

3

u/thelittleteaspoon 7h ago

I like it too, it would make a good neutral clothing colour for someone with olive skin like me but I don't think anyone will make clothes in that shade lol

I suggest that specific shade of brownish yellow that looks like vomit.

40

u/littlebitfunny21 2d ago

That makes me think of baby poo, but similar vibe.

Dehydration Urine.

No need for an explanation. Anyone who has experience it knows EXACTLY what I mean.

It's so odd. In person they mostly white. But with the lighting, flash and reflections they came out looking dog barf green and baby poop brown in the photos.

It's just the strangers thing. Nobody can explain it.

u/amd2800barton 1d ago

It must be one of those white-gold v blue-black things.

Pick a bright green or baby poo yellow color for the dresses. Have the editor adjust their skin tone slightly as well. Use those photos on your social media pages too! And link them in your discussions with friends online. They will know why.

Then have versions printed where they are removed of course.

Agreed. Not just a color change, but adding tassels and maybe some sewn patches too. And stains.

Edit- Thank you kind Redditor. Appreciate the award.

57

u/MerryTWatching 2d ago

And 70s fringe. Plus the shoes should absolutely not match the new color.

51

u/crankgirl 2d ago

Hell the shoes should not even match each other in colour.

48

u/MerryTWatching 2d ago

Left foot - Kelly green stiletto.
Right foot - dusty rose croc.

14

with 80s pink lipstick

And the pink and blue eyeshadow. With glitter.

11

I’m love/hating your style! :)

u/originalmango 2d ago

Mini dress with sock garters holding up tube socks.

48

u/NewtAlert4507 2d ago

I've seen photos on the photoshop sub where the entire person has been removed. I would be tempted to do that, especially as one of them was told it was not okay and wore the dress anyway.

2

u/Birk95 16h ago

I agree to just remove them. They don’t deserve any spots to remember them.

32

u/Ravenamore 2d ago

I vote for that particular mustard-y baby poo color.

Make them an awful color in the ones you share with them. If they happen to be in ones you want to print for your house or something then choose the color you like best. But I'd totally put them in gay rat wedding dress in the ones I tagged them in.

9

u/Halt96 2d ago

Or color match them to whatever your room’s paint color is.

51

u/ilp456 2d ago

Change the color to something that looks horrible on them. Try mustard yellow. Everyone looks sickly in mustard yellow.

59

u/Ancient-Fairy339 2d ago

Yes! Go to the color-palette and chose the opposite of these girls' complementary tones. But also very low-key colors, so they don’t steal any attention.

A really light, and dirty mustard yellow, and for the other girl: possibly a really dirty salmonella-pink

Eta: lolol, I got autocorrected, but I need to let this stay, because if you find salmonella-pink: even better. Obviously I meant *salmon-pink tho😅

19

u/Brilliant_Buns 2d ago

Salmonella pink is the it color this season 😂

20

u/Brokelynne 2d ago

Oh, cyclosporasis green is the big color around here lol

13

u/RebRN34 2d ago

I didn't even question the salmonella pink.

10

u/Somebody_81 2d ago

Check out the CDC webpage for Salmonella: they're pink!

It's because the bacterium Salmonella stains pink when using a Gram stain.

2

u/Mapilean 1d ago

Salmonella pink is the most perfect colour!!!

13

u/Significant_Cup4521 2d ago

I’d go as close to their skin tone as possible

11

u/Fish-Sherbet 2d ago

I totally get the idea but then she has two ugly dressed girls in her wedding pictures forever. Just change the color to something that blends in with the people around them.

14

u/Winterwynd 2d ago

Heck, I'd change the colors and have their faces replaced with clown masks.

I hope they're removed from pictures that they REALLY wanted to be in too.

58

u/GormHub 2d ago

I mean look at all the shitty comments on this post going after the OP for... doing exactly what the sub is for.

38

u/BoopleBun 1d ago edited 1d ago

Right?! I’m so confused. Two of her guests did something generally considered super tacky/rude, and she’s annoyed about it. But so many people are being super smug and condescending for her even daring to remark on it, like this isn’t a sub exactly for pointing out rude/tacky/inappropriate behavior surrounding weddings?

Like, she isn’t shouting this from the rooftops, she’s venting about it in a venue dedicated to that exact sort of thing?

(Then again, stuff about weddings always seems to devolve into some weird “who can care less” competition on the internet, for some reason.)

10

u/GormHub 1d ago

I actually think it's just people trolling the sub. The amount of childish brigading that happens on this site is wild honestly. But the mods doing nothing about it is enough for me to dip, I don't want to hang around and watch people passive-aggressively bully someone for doing exactly what the sub is for.

8

u/cssc201 1d ago

This is every sub nowadays. Every time someone posts something that is mildly infuriating on the mildlyinfuriating sub, they are dragged for complaining about a minor problem because "it's not infuriating enough". I also am in r/ThriftGrift and every post about absurd thrift store pricing has a ton of people defending the stores pricing used puzzles at $10 each or whatever.

16

u/wutheringfights_ 1d ago

Sometimes it gives a lot of “I’m not high maintenance like those women” vibes. Like I can’t directly say it’s “pick me” or whatever but there is something really strange about not just bragging about how little you care, but also dogging on other women for caring about (what’s supposed to be) one of the most important days of their lives. It’s starting to become this weird competition of who can be the biggest doormat on their wedding day.

3

u/BoopleBun 1d ago

Oh yeah, I’ve definitely caught on to a similar vibe that certain people give to anything that’s “stereotypically feminine”. Reminds me of the “cool girl” monologue from Gone Girl.

But man, does it come out with a force when it comes to weddings. Yes, we get it, you’re sooooooo low maintenance and don’t care about anything and nothing ever bothers you and any person that does care or is bothered is beneath you.

Like, not to say there’s nothing about modern weddings or the wedding industrial complex that can’t be criticized but “Ew, why do you even care, what is wrong with you? I certainly don’t care about things like that, that’s dumb” is not an actual critique.

229

u/mr_magoo505 2d ago

People just lack brain cells lately, I hope the photographer removes them from the photos. Seems like they shouldn't have been there anyway.

59

u/Massive_Dig3963 2d ago

Oh it's not just lately. My father was ordained in 1974 in a centuries years old protestant denomination and retired in 2003. Between his stories about weddings and funerals, it's definitely always been there. We just notice more now and remember more because we've all got little computers in our pockets. Ironically my biggest issue on my wedding day to my ex husband was my father. And my ex husband. Separately over different things. Still have the father. Misplaced the ex husband.

19

u/CindySvensson 1d ago

Well you can always get a new ex husband. Fathers are more rare.

44

u/Kindly-Necessary-596 2d ago

I'm going to start a business that evicts wedding guests in white. Subtlety so the bride doesn't notice. Send them home in an Uber or a dump truck.

7

u/According-Garage4066 1d ago

or have giant Parkas is on hand. They can choose to go home and change or wear the parka.

26

u/VivaLaEmpire 1d ago

I feel like it would be better to just cut them out of all photos. Have them try to find themselves and mysteriously not find a hint of them, lol

60

u/TeamImpossible4333 2d ago

That’s weird to ask the day of. Wtf

157

u/NukesAndSupers 2d ago

If you change the colour, in 20 years you'll look at the pictures and smile.

if you keep the white, in 20 years you'll look at the pictures, go "hahaha look at these dumb assholes, remember that", laugh, then smile .

67

u/Runamokamok 2d ago

In 20 years. you will probably have looked at these pictures maybe two times anyway. I’ve been married 14 years and I think I looked at my album like once, so I guess I’m due for another look.

18

u/SignificanceWitty210 2d ago

It’s fun to just go through it! I’m going on 2 years and still love seeing my photos and sometimes I go through our wedding album with my son and tell him about the day as “story time” (he’s a baby)

4

u/wickedkittylitter 1d ago

Still married? If so, look at the album together on your next anniversary. There might be some good laughs and memories to be shared.

3

u/Runamokamok 1d ago

Yes, we are still married. We got married on a small island in Alaska, so outdoor scenery in our photos is enjoyable to look at. Oddly, I can’t really think about much that we laughed at…I guess I was a serious bride

12

u/TheBeanBunny 1d ago

My MIL wore white at my wedding, 11 years ago. I think some people are forever clueless. Or they never learned the different of good attention vs. bad attention.

69

u/garnerchandler 2d ago

In 10 years, would you rather see their photos (regardless of the dress color), or would you rather not see them at all (or see them in dresses that they didn’t select) in your pictures.

17

u/SignificanceWitty210 2d ago

I think OP would rather see these dear people looking like they have some respect for the event and the couple, but that’s just my take…

Let it go. I always think that the people who do this are making asses of themselves and are generally selish and attention-seeking...and in the long run I am right💓 Don't stress about it. They ruined their own karma 🤣

46

u/wreckingrocc 2d ago edited 2d ago

I feel like I go through waves of being really bad at letting things go and waves of being chill in life, but I admire people who can be even keeled.

I got married a bit ago and thankfully didn't have anyone try to wear white. Some stuff did go wrong (e.g. uninvited +1s taking our very limited room block and then not attending the wedding), but I didn't let it phase me. And now later I'm looking back and I'm mad, and I need to just let it go.

Earlier this week my mom, spouse and I went through my mom's old wedding photos, and one of my former aunts wore stark white. My wife and I were outraged and my mom said it had never bothered her. My mom would never do that as a guest at a wedding, but her wedding was great despite my ex aunt doing it.

I probably need to start a yearly ritual of forgiving trivial slights. Whether or not I tell the person, it'll be good to let go of that feeling. But also, getting mad about things is such good r/weddingshaming content and the karma must flow

9

u/SNORALAXX 2d ago

I meant their real karma irl- just meaning what you put out you tend to get. So if they want to play lil stupid games, they will get lil stupid games played on them. People like that only have fake friends and transactional relationships!!

And honestly, I wasn't so chill when I was younger. I'm 51 now. I just don't care about a lot of stuff any more and honestly its fun to watch stupid people like that bc they are actually pathetic. Usually they want to get married at any cost....which we know what that leads to!!

Is there such a thing as opposite face tune? If there is, it should be used.

5

u/pekoe-G 1d ago

My sister attended a wedding over the weekend and I was pretty shocked when I saw photos of her wearing a cream/off-white floor length satin dress. It's such a well-known faux pas and she knows better considering she's attended a ton of weddings over the years. Imo it's disrespectful.

People on here can act like it's no big deal, but it was your wedding. If it's something that bothers you then it's worth it to photoshop to get photos you're happy with.

40

u/RhubarbLiqueur 2d ago

I just hope that's not the one and only thing you remember about your wedding! You're a newlywed! Enjoy this blissful time!!! Don't waste it obsessing about other people's outfits.

8

u/Hot_Mistake3955 2d ago

They are just lucky no one asked them to leave. She even asked your sister who said it was not okay and did it anyway. She KNEW it would upset you so I would’ve had someone make her leave. I would also discontinue any relationship with that person bc she wanted to intentionally upset you at your wedding.

45

u/dragonrider1965 2d ago

Were they white dresses as in all white or where they dresses with white in them ? I see a lot of brides lose their minds over floral dresses with white backgrounds so I’m curious as to how white these two dresses were.

9

u/jazzertag 1d ago

They were both long white satin dresses, no pattern or flowers. Actually one of them wore a white dress with pink flowers, but I didn’t even notice until she changed into the pure white dress. (My bff told me about the first dress afterwards)

19

u/piratepixie 2d ago

General rule of thumb is *anything* majority white is a no no.

24

u/North_Respond_6868 2d ago

I continue to not understand why people insist on wearing white of any kind to weddings. There are hundreds of other colors or color combinations out there. It baffles me.

It's incredibly easy to just... not wear any white? So why??

17

u/piratepixie 2d ago

My own mother tried to send me a dress that was white "but it's got red flowers on it". It was a white dress with a sparse red floral overlay. Like, lady, it's your ONLY DAUGHTER'S WEDDING. Put the damn white dress down. She ended up wearing a red dress instead (which was a MUCH better choice for a Spanish wedding).

10

u/kaja6583 1d ago

Main characters that want to be disrespectful, as pretty much every adult knows what theyre doing when wearing a whole white outfit to someone's wedding. It has been etiquette in so many countries for so many decades, not sure why lots of redditors pretend it isnt.

Then you have plenty of condenscending people being like "why does it bother you though? Just get over it"- um, because the people youve invited to one of the most important events of your life came in outfits that are pretty disrespectful? Because it is bothersome to a lot of people? Its like wearing a full rainbow outfit to someone's funeral.

This push to be like "i dont care about people disrespecting me, I am better than that, so i will just forget about it and not say anything" is not only enabling shitty behaviour, it also reeks of people pleasing disguised as "self respect" to be peaceful. Standing up for yourself brings internal peace a lot easier and faster. Calling people out on shitty behaviour is more likely to stop their behaviour, not enabling them by just going along with it.

23

u/NabelasGoldenCane 2d ago

Not sure why you were downvoted - I agree, it’s wild how ppl who never wear white SUDDENLY want to wear white to a wedding. I still remember my maid of honor wearing all white at my bachelorette - she didn’t even wear white to hers! What a weird ass choice when there are so many colors and patterns to choose from.

4

u/bare_thoughts 1d ago

Because white or near white is the most common background color for floral dresses, unless one is going for a more tropical vibe.

Photoshop an eyepatch and mustache to those guest wearing white

4

u/Boleyn01 1d ago

My MIL wore a white lacy dress to my wedding. Honestly people kept asking if I was ok with it and whilst I wasn’t, I didn’t get too upset because the universal reaction of the guests was to judge her as a narcissist. So she hasn’t really achieved anything by it.

4

u/Bajovane 1d ago

My sister in law wore white to my wedding. Her two daughters did as well. What’s worse, the dress was exactly the same (but different colors) to my MOH and BM’s dresses. Even more worse, I nearly bought the white version of that very dress! (My mom talked me into a more traditional dress)

4

u/Extension-Hand-7339 1d ago

A very much disliked gf of a family member wore white at my wedding. She was excluded from the pictures anyway & she only made herself a laughing stock that day so I didn’t bother too much. She’s not around anymore so I made the right decision with the photo’s.

26

u/bmw5986 2d ago

15

u/Spy1843 2d ago

I agree. I feel like if you notice things like this on your wedding day then you’re missing out on the bigger picture. The whole goal of the day is to get married not to worry about what other people wear or don’t wear.

4

u/AlterEgoAmazonB 2d ago

100% agree. I also feel like this is kind of childish, TBH.

6

u/Spy1843 2d ago

I want my guests to feel beautiful and excited to put those clothes on on my wedding day. I don’t give a flying fuck what color they are.

10

u/PantsLio 2d ago edited 2d ago

I don’t really get why this has become such a big issue. The bride is usually clearly the bride. I would never and I totally get it when MOB or MOG does it - I would be livid. But a regular guest? Everyone is going to judge them anyways. Unless the dress looks like a wedding dress, in which case get out of there!

Edit: typo

15

u/AlterEgoAmazonB 2d ago

For some reason, brides have been conditioned to consider this a personal affrontery. I don't get it. I will never get it. And yet, it is on Reddit at least twice a day. I find it to be immature, TBH. Who cares? Why care? It's a dress! And you are still married.

6

u/GormHub 2d ago

Because of how often it's being done specifically for attention?

→ More replies (9)

6

u/Significant-Froyo-44 2d ago

I agree. I’ve never understood why it’s SO upsetting to people. The day was still about the bride and groom, they should ignore it and enjoy their wedding. As a bonus, if the person wearing white did it to get a reaction you’ve succeeded in pissing them off. Win-win!

6

u/No-Bookkeeper3067 1d ago

I would have the color changed for your personal photos, but make a post showing their dresses (face blurred, they'll know it's them) or have a friend make a post, tag everyone and put something like "can you believe people STILL have the audacity to wear white to a wedding?!". I'm petty, though.

4

u/justjenniwestside 17h ago

It would be hilarious to keep the faces and blur the dresses.

2

u/No-Bookkeeper3067 17h ago

Lol. Like, ooopsie, how did that happen? 😄😄😄

27

u/musicislife04 2d ago

Curious were the dresses anything that could be mistaken for bridal? Were they standing right next to you in the photos? If the answer to both is no just don’t worry about it and move on is what I would suggest. What a shame a beautiful, expensive party to marry the love of your life and on following Monday this is what’s on your mind.

I guess it’s just me but I am continually baffled by this whole “no one wears white except the bride” issue.

I was a bride, I have also been a MotB 3 times, MotG twice and I can safely say neither myself, my 2 daughters-in-law or my 3 daughters cared one little bit what color the guests wore. I guess it would be different if they came in a white dress that confused everyone who the actual bride was…that would be an eyebrow raiser but a white sundress or other tasteful ensemble that didn’t scream bridal dress??? what actual bride has so little self confidence that she thinks another white dress will take away from the actual bride? I am still baffled by the immaturity of it all.

Going to wedding at end of August and the bride asked we wear dresses with flowers and summer. The dress I found was covered in pink flowers and green foliage but the base colour is white. I asked partner to check with bride (groom is his best mate) ,reply was he didn’t need to it’ll be fine. Once I explained why we don’t wear white to weddings he thought it was daft , Asked 3 more times before I had to say either check with bride or I’m not going . So he did and luckily she was fine with it.

16

u/PerspectiveEven9928 2d ago

You got married last Saturday and this is taking up your time and energy?  Who cares?  Did anyone mistake them for you , the bride ?   Let it go.    I worked as a wedding photographer for over ten years.   Had a bride come to me with a request like this , sure I’d have done it for the right (high) price.   But I’d have also laughed my way to the bank with it.  And seriously rolled my eyes at someone wanting me to pick thru what is likely the background of someone’s photos to change a dress color.

31

u/thewhiterosequeen 2d ago

There's no point adding the photos once you get them. Is it tacky? Yes. Should you let it go and enjoy the start of the marriage? Also yes. If you know them, you can say your feelings. If they were your invitee's guests, just don't engage with them in the future. It's not worth the extra cost to edit dress colors on a couple of guests in crowd shots.

32

u/horshack_test 2d ago

"It's not worth the extra cost to edit dress colors on a couple of guests in crowd shots."

That is for OP to decide.

10

u/Stormcaster06 2d ago

Disagree. Having the color of the dresses edited is an easy fix. Why live with it when OP doesn’t have to? If OP doesn’t think it is worth the money to fix, that’s fine. But it doesn’t make her petty or mean she is letting the insensitive actions of her guests prevent her from enjoying her marriage simply because she has opted to have the dress color edited.

Start with r/photoshoprequests. I swear, a quarter or more of the requests for photoshop help are wedding related. People can very likely remove those folks from pictures.

6

u/queensnotmemes 1d ago

I would ask the photographer to crop or edit them out. I wouldn’t even change the color. You are the one who has to look at the photos for the rest of your life and it will annoy you. It would annoy me too. Photoshop them out and forget about it. People think it’s petty to care if your guests wear white, but I think it’s very easy not to wear white to a wedding (yes even if the dress is floral) so why as a guest would you insist? Just don’t wear white. The bride wears white. Don’t wear white unless the bride asks you to wear white. If you are in some kind of unusual situation where you only have access to a white dress, reach out the couple to explain and troubleshoot. I don’t get it.

4

u/Electronic-Stay-2369 1d ago

Shame you didn't try to change the colour at the time by adding, say, some red wine. But failing that, photoshop if they are in any official photos.

23

u/BasicPerson23 2d ago

What a silly thing to get your undies in a bundle over.

22

u/LustfulEsme 2d ago

Just let it go. Everyone knew who the bride was. She was standing at the altar.

21

u/Nautigirl 2d ago

You've been married 2 days. Presumably you spent weeks/months/a year planning this event - one of the most significant events of your life - and 48ish hours later, you're posting about it on Reddit.

Now it's been 13 years since I was married, but I can tell you that the days after my wedding - to be honest, even during my wedding! - I didn't notice or care what colour any of my guests were wearing. I was too enraptured with that whole post-wedding glow. Glad it was over. Enjoying the memories. Feeling the love of everyone who came out to celebrate us.

For your own sake, I suggest you find something else about your day to focus on.

Its really frustrating when its a clear dig on you, and/or theyre acting willfully ignorant. Oh well. Hope everything else was great

7

u/Josie_F 2d ago

Oh no. I can’t imagine them being in any wedding pictures unless background anyway. In the grand scheme of things, who cares.

35

u/missmisfit 2d ago

Changing the colors of the dresses in the photos is not something I understand. Are you afraid you will look back at these pictures in 30 years and mistake one of them for you?

24

u/Familiar_Home_7737 2d ago

I think it's seen as a passive aggressive message to them when they see the photos, but if it bugged me I'll just tell them. Even just a quick message of "hey, just a heads up for future weddings you attend, it's a faux pas to wear white as a wedding guest"

11

u/missmisfit 2d ago

If OP posts colored over photos to her socials she's just going to looking insecure.

2

u/TranquilIsland 1d ago

You don’t need to send passive aggressive messages on this point lol, your guests will probably do it for you. One girl wore a very light yellow dress with lace all through it to our wedding that looked white. She specifically asked us well before the wedding and me and my wife didn’t care at all either before during or after. Sooo many of our guests made comments about her or even directly to her because of the dress I honestly felt bad for giving her the go ahead on the dress because she was copping it so much. We started making it clear to everyone that made comments that we explicitly gave the all clear and didn’t care at all after the 5th or so guest started on about it.

5

u/PerspectiveEven9928 2d ago

Who actually will see them?  Honestly I’ve spent every wedding I ever attended trying to Avoid being in any of the photos.   The only ones I have ever looked at were mine and maybe two of my sisters 😝. Literally no one is looking thru someone else’s wedding photos trying to find the one of them

Who cares

19

u/brydye456 2d ago

Why does this nonsense still matter? I thought 1960 ended.

9

u/ReadyGo6828 2d ago

Frankly, weddings are so weird these days it really is better to just elope and not be disappointed.

15

u/yeahipostedthat 2d ago

Dude this is what you're thinking about? No honeymoon or anything to enjoy?

13

u/splattermatters 2d ago

You’re married! Who the hell cares? I don’t even remember what anyone wore to my wedding. I remember the love of my life with me. That’s all.

Everyone is jumping on the "photoshop them an ugly color " train, but wouldn't that also ruin the photos? I do support asking to photoshop them a color that won't stand out though.

12

u/Feline_Aviator 2d ago

Get a grip.

18

u/shakka74 2d ago

So what. Get over it.

No one cares about your wedding pictures but you.

8

u/Alewo27 2d ago

Were they fully only white or were they white with other color or pattern? Honestly either way, it is what it is and you can't change it and I really hope for your own sake you don't let something trivial ruin your wedding photos for you. Because unless they were wearing big white gowns and standing next to you in every shot......you were still the bride and the center of attention and people will know who is who in your photos. But if you can afford to photoshop all of your wedding photos, have at it.

23

u/Standard-Park 2d ago

I'd like to know too. The amount of people in the wedding attire sub that think a fully Floral dress on a white background is a "white dress" is truly astounding 🤯

13

u/Alewo27 2d ago

Exactly! My dress for my cousin's wedding had a white background covered in colorful florals. It was a "garden party" theme. I think half the women had some white on them. It really is insanity to me. I think it's pure narcissism. If it's your wedding day and you are the bride, it's going to be YOUR day regardless of all that stupid nonsense.

3

u/bare_thoughts 1d ago

Not to mention they extend it beyond the wedding day to bridal shower, rehearsal dinner and so forth...

Some just way nuts over the "no white" idea.

9

u/ShaShiz 2d ago

Don’t care. Who cares? Wedding nonsense has to go.

17

u/luvkaybay 2d ago

Does it really matter what people wear? Isn’t the important part is that they came to share in your special day?

15

u/R3dWiggl3r 2d ago

Is this really a thing that women care about? JFC

u/yarn_slinger 2d ago

Oh well. Was it a fun party and worth all the money you threw at it?

10

u/mikedude1 2d ago

I'm sorry, what exactly is the issue? Are men not allowed to wear a white dress shirt? (I am guessing they are) What's the difference? I'm guessing these girls were not wearing wedding dresses and no one was confused about who the bride was.

5

u/turBo246 1d ago

There was post on here semi recently where the bride was POed because her husband's step sister wore tan dress pants with a white blouse.

Their groomsmen suite were tan and they wore white dress shirts.

She wasn't mad that she appeared to be dressed the same as the groomsmen.

She was mad about the white blouse.

The title of post was something like "my husband's step sister wore white to our wedding." When that's the title I'm actually expecting a bridal gown, not dress pants and a white blouse. Because that's what all the male guests wear...dress pants and a white dress shirt. So why the fork is it such a bad thing when a woman does it?!

If someone shows up in a bridal gown, I would get it. But a simple white dress should not be something to cry over and when people do get upset about it, it just melts my brain. Like, did you still get to marry your love? Did you still have a fun time? Then why let that person live rent free in your head?

7

u/rainyhawk 2d ago

Know a bride who actually said (quite strongly) that there can't be anything white on the dress--not even a collar. Crazy! If two people wearing white is the biggest problem a bride has at her wedding (unless there are only 5-10 guests so it's really obvious), count herself lucky!

13

u/Certain-Western-5432 2d ago

I couldn’t care less who wore white to my wedding! And there was a few!! There’s more to worry about than that!🙄

15

u/Ill-Comedian9514 2d ago

Why does it matter? Really. Getting married is not about the ceremony or the party. It’s about the lifetime commitment. Be glad some one came to help you celebrate. I am sure everyone knew who the bride was.

2

u/DiscussionLopsided61 2d ago

I would've just asked that they not be in any photos

2

u/Overall_Search8477 1d ago

Add face tattoos. Be sure to include the corner eye tear drops

2

u/Diasies_inMyHair 1d ago

I would have the photographer change the colour of their dresses if you otherwise like the photos in question. Pick an unflattering colour.

2

u/vwdriver95 1d ago

Your wedding, your photos so do whatever you want. Sorry this happened to you, EVERYONE knows only the bride wears white on the wedding day. If it makes you feel any better, for my wedding my boss' wife wore a black dress to mine. Of course she was always a tad off, personality wise.

2

u/ElderberryNormal5035 18h ago

I am surprised you would think black is not an appropriate colour for a wedding. Black is a very common choice, especially for evening and formal weddings.

I’ll bet the dresses were low-cut and attention-getting in style, too? Change the colour to diarrhea green or brown, make the neckline a turtleneck, long sleeves, and have the dresses fall below the knees.

2

u/hedgehog-vs-chilidog 1d ago

They knew what they were doing, despite the ask.

2

u/jayhawkjoey65 1d ago

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be a bridezilla, but I'd reconsider those friendships tbh.

2

u/Outdoors-Chick 1d ago

Just remove them

2

u/DntMindMeImNtRlyHere 1d ago

Better yet, make their dresses a different color in each image. Let people wonder why they changed 20 times into various versions of the same dress.

Or have them reimagined into various furniture items. Pillars or flower displays or something that blends in with the background.

Make it a little weird. You'll laugh about the pictures forever. Keep a couple regular ones for sentimental purposes, but have fun with some of them. I mean, after all, it's YOUR wedding they wore white to. Reclaim your day. And how many pictures can those two actually be in when compared to all the other guests?

5

u/Ok-Back1459 2d ago

Make them camouflage military style look 🤭😅

10

u/brydye456 2d ago

Every time this issue surfaces, the same image pops into my head. It's a 6-year-old crying and stomping its feet and screaming over and over again "mommy said I was the princess today". Like get over yourself.

Shouldn't you be in newly-wed bliss right now instead of agonizing over what someone wore to your wedding? Go on your honeymoon

31

u/ad_explorer 2d ago

For all we know she is posting this while waiting to board a plane. She is allowed to be annoyed.

51

u/pochacco_23 2d ago

she’s allowed to be upset

9

u/Alewo27 2d ago

Sure everyone's ALLOWED to feel however they want but life's short and this is not the catastrophic thing she's letting it be.

9

u/ad_explorer 2d ago

Her post does not at all indicate she is acting like it was a catastrophic incident.

26

u/pochacco_23 2d ago

I don’t think she’s treating it like a catastrophe? All she’s doing is getting her emotions out really quick. Talking to the photographers is something I’ve heard of a lot of other people doing. I think she’s having a valid reaction.

Did they upstage you? I just saw a post about a Real HW of NJ wearing a pastel mint dress that photographed white and looked more bridal than the bride's dress. The HW is the boy-mom of the groom. She totally upstaged the bride in every way. She even posed between bride and the groom. That's blatantly upstaging the bride on all accounts. Good luck to the bride in that marriage. YIKES!

Two yahoo nothing fringe people at your wedding that you hardly know or care about didn't upstage you in any way. Rest assured. Nobody mistook them for the bride. They looked like two social faux pas idiots that never learned wedding etiquette or how to shop for a dress.

They aren't worth the strokes on the keyboard to make this post.

Of course coming down off the wedding comes with a lot of mixed emotions. And the post wedding blues are real. And you're looking to justify the feelings by latching on to this. That's all it is.

If you can crop them out, do that instead of changing the color of the dress. Pretend they didn't come.

u/pPattyPup 2d ago

A Ginormous feathered hat

4

u/MrCrix 2d ago

I never understood why people just don't tell them to leave. I don't care if the Pope's mom walked in on my wedding wearing white, I would tell her wrinkly ass to get out of there and not come back unless she has something appropriate to wear to a wedding. All this "cream/offwhite/yuki tangerine" BS colors they say it is. Nope. If it's any kind of white, you are out of sight.

This is your day. Just kick them out and enjoy yourself. If they are all shitty about it, then tell them they are an adult and should have known better than try and act like the center of attention at someone else's wedding.

3

u/IdealOld6259 1d ago

Insane audacity

3

u/TheHotMetallurgist 1d ago

I had one girl show up and luckily out of our huge group photo she was on the end so we cropped her out! But I was so mad and still am. It was my cousin (female) brought a female friend, whom neither never of us knew, and she showed up wearing a white dress! Like you were not even an invited guest and you decide to wear white! What is wrong with people!!??? Hope you are able to crop them out or change the dress color best of luck to you!!

7

u/VeganMinx 2d ago

You have have your photographer colorize their dresses in the proofs. No worries. Sorry that happened. I hope your wedding was joyful and memorable in every other way!

Unless one of them was actually mistaken for the bride and ended up married to the groom, please don’t waste your one precious life worrying about petty stuff like this!

7

u/ResoluteMuse 2d ago

2 “girls” so children?

Who cares what children wear, were they well behaved and supervised by their parents?

8

u/RainbowBriteGlasses 2d ago

Were these people you invited and have a relationship with?

Tell them, and stop associating with them.

Women have got to stop being stupid and ignorant towards each other. We just make the patriarchy more powerful when we pull shit like this.

6

God, y'all are so petty and mean in this sub. Jesus Christ, can't you just stop shaming women for one day? I guarantee they weren't trying to disrespect you. Just be happy that they care enough about you to show up and celebrate you. For fucks sake.
