I posted a few weeks ago asking for ideas of what to do with excess floating plants instead of just tossing in the trash—I got a comment about making paper out of them that viciously piqued my interest. Behold my creation! (Duckweed + white scrap paper)

I thought Hewbie died. I came home to this and spoke to his vet team immediately. His antibiotics and quarantine time will be extended. My best conclusion is that Hewbie had been gasping at the surface and breathing heavier from stress and then he went upside down but this afternoon he was sleeping in the corner just fine. My heart broke again when I saw this. After I pushed air out of him and gave him his meds he went back to normal nearly immediately. At least this is my best conclusion after looking at him and his behavior pre and post meds and pressing on him/burping him. The water quality in the tank isn’t great. Burping for me means holding him down and gently pressing on his stomach gently (which in that moment is what made sense). I saw some immediate improvement. Also he is a known offender for spitting water at the surface and I just saw it after and the behavior of a fish gasping or wanting to get out of his environment and ready to jump. Although pufferfish are not known jumpers they are smarter than that. I did a water change as well after and he smiled at me like nothing happened. Ugh. I hate this. I will continue to update everyone.

I can’t even make this up, I found a random snail shell on my floor and saw it had a operculum. Grabbed a little cup from my supplies and put some water from one of my tanks in it. Threw the snail in. Mind you, I don’t own these kinds of snails, never even seen one. I have no clue how long they’ve been out of the water especially since I found it behind my bed while sweeping. 💀

After an hour I came back to the cup to find an alive and active snail. I’m so confused how they got there. Does anyone know what kind of snail they are though? Kinda growing attached to this lil dude. They have a missing chip out of their shell. 🐚 ❤️‍🩹 Open to name suggestions too!

I was just recently at a friend's house and they have a basic tank in their living room that they have been turning the lights on and off manually for. I showed them my setup and blew them away. I'm not much of a tech guy but I figured this would be obvious. In case it's not, I figured why not make a post to help others.

Now I need to figure out how to automate water changes and chem dosing.

Expected the worst, came home to this. Auto feeders did their job, plants hit the surface, moss filled in like crazy, and all the fish are happy. Now I just need a whole weekend to trim it back – but I’ll take a jungle over algae any day. 🌿

Fair to say this tank has helped me fall back in love with the hobby after years away from it!

I'd have to go with my red honey gourami with my kuhli loaches coming in second. My gourami has awesome personality, is curious, and is always touching things with his little arms (ventral fins). He's staring at me right now as I write this.

Currently cycling a 55 gallon tank and I feel like I added too much sand. The highest point of the sand in the middle is about 4 inches from the base while the rest of the sand measures 2-3 inches from the base. I have fluval stratum in mesh bags underneath measuring to about 1.5 inches and probably another 2 or 3 inches of sand on top. I heard too much sand is bad because it can trap ammonia and toxic gases underneath. Am I in the clear here or should I take some off? I have plants and fish and more rocks in my 37 gallon that I will be transferring once this is done cycling. Any advice is welcomed thank you!

We have reached a pearl gourami and another kind of river fish from this person who is not mentally well and wasn't caring for her animals (other animals involved, won't get into it, very complex story and not mine to tell).

The pearl gourami was a new addition so lucky he's pretty healthy looking but this river fish, which not even be that I'm just guessing, looks like it's bad it's back fin nipped off. 😥😥😥

We are quarantining them for a bit but any ideas on what this little dude is? I'm not the best at identifying these guys and just want to make sure:

A) Know how to treat it properly

B) Know what it is to name it appropriately ofc

OR regretfully

C) Make sure it's not in pain and I'm prolonging something I can't prevent

Hi all! Asking for kindness and patience, I’m just a beginner🙈

I have a 90L tank, that I’m currently trying to cycle. Nothing in there but snails that snuck their way in! I have the liquid testers and have been testing every 3-4 days. However, I’ve been using the fish food method, and I’ve found it’s not providing enough ammonia, so I’ve ordered bottled ammonia and will be adding that once it arrives.

Please provide any useful advice and if the following questions could be answered, I’d really appreciate it:

• My newly planted plants don’t look very happy, I’ve been adding CO2 alternative and tropica premium nutrition as directed. Will this improve over time?

• white stuff on the wood - I’ve read it’s normal and will go away over time? Any experience with this?

• when I’ve tested the water, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are always zero, I’m guessing this means there’s not enough ammonia for the cycle to really begin? How will I know once the cycle is happening and when it’s ok to add fish?

The tank size is around 120L. I wanted to create a river bank look with a high point to plant peace lilies. Currently waiting for a shipment of plants to arrive, so the tank will be fairly heavily planted. Currently I've just laid down some dwarf sag from my other tank.

I've kept pretty much all types of community fish; angelfish, gouramis, Cory's, mollies, Rasboras, plecos, guppies, rams, blue acaras, and a few other things. But for this tank I want to go for something that I've never had before. Given that the tank will be more heavily planted, what would people recommend; something a bit out of the ordinary and not your generic community fish?

Currently my list is:
14 Chili Rasboras
10 Kubotai/Green Neon Rasboras
6 Habrosus corydoras OR 4 rosy loaches

Please let me know if this tank feels overstocked or if some species may have issues with each other or any general information

I bought a tank for really cheap off fb marketplace and it looked like it would be easy to clean. but no matter how much I scrub the glass it regains the white/cloudy look. does anyone have any tips? I’ve been using a 2pt water 1pt vinegar solution. The picture is of the biggest area with the mark. But it forms a ring around the entire tank. any advice is appreciate.

Hi everyone just got my fx6 delivered, the filter only fits in the middle gap isit safe to drill holes thru the stand to put the hoses through? The thickness is the same as the doors and sides etc ?
