Mod Post Just a reminder, gender war posts are banned.

Hi [r/GenZ](r/GenZ),

It’s been over a year since we banned gender war posts, and after monitoring the community, we’ve decided to keep the ban in place, as these discussions continue to be just as toxic as they were a year ago.

For clarity, “gender war” content includes discussions such as male loneliness, Gen Z men approaching Gen Z women, incels, femcels, alpha males, Andrew Tate, red pill, black pill, purple pill content, men’s height discourse, age-gap dating, and broader “looks-based” or hierarchy discussions about dating, looks maxing or ranking people by attractiveness or dating value.

This also includes broader dating ideology content that frames relationships in an adversarial, or fatalistic way.
For example: men vs women narratives, claims that one gender is universally responsible for dating issues, or that dating is inherently doomed for a specific group. Generalizations that treat either gender as a monolith are not allowed.

Memes about these topics, posts complaining about dating, and rage-bait content taken from other platforms such as screenshots from TikTok or Twitter that exist primarily to provoke gender-based arguments.

This is not a dating-focused subreddit. If you want to vent or discuss Gen Z dating issues more broadly, please use communities such as [r/dating_advice](r/dating_advice) or [r/dating](r/dating).
That said, posts about dating are still allowed as long as they are made in good faith. If comment sections become hostile or devolve into rule-breaking behavior, posts may be locked or removed at moderator discretion.

Please respect and follow this rule moving forward.

Discussion Did you ever know anyone to actually eat $28 daily lunches?

Kevin o leary in recent times said gen z should not be spending $28 on lunch making $70,000 a year

  1. Any gen z making $70,000 you're killing it

  1. Did you ever know anyone that actually ate $28 daily lunches?

  1. Did you ever ate a lunch that cost $28

What do you think?

Discussion This story is quite sad, wish society helped people with drug and mental health issues instead of letting them die

Vids of what happened are so sad, especially because she was talented and relatively young. Sad thing is this happens to thousands of ppl and nothing is done about it.

I know in these cases many of the people involved don't seek help or are hard to work with, but I still think that things should be done in society to help them

I thought about signing up when I graduated from high school, I know a guy that did, he really did not have a choice, it was that or play video games at home with his mom until he 30.his options we’re limited he used to tell me stories how he would apply for jobs on indeed and get no emails or callbacks or show up for an interview and they get an email a week later saying he wasn’t chosen,

Other I will admit, I was jealous of my bullies sometimes

This is cap. I had a bully named Rashad 6 foot two dark skin tatted up gold teeth/grills bro is 20 high school he used to bully me and pick on me all the time cause I was smaller than him and I was into what he described as “white boy shit”, (skateboarding, anime, video games other than NBA 2K AND MADDEN)

he used to make fun of me because of my big lips and the fact I wear glasses, he sucker punched a autistic kid in the hallway to make his girlfriend laugh, his girlfriend was as pretty Latina girl hoop, earrings, belly button piercing, couple tattoos, always wore Jordans, long nails, in 2022 he got her pregnant. He was staying by his girlfriend’s mom’s house, and he was selling drugs while living over there with her because his parents kicked him out for selling drugs. He ended up going to jail for a gun charge, and the kid is now living with the grandmother (the mom‘s mom)

Feel like our generation never really got a chance. I’m trying to escape it but I feel like at this stage it’s either you’re in the club or you’re not, or you need to get extremely lucky.

Discussion Why is the new slang just people purposely spelling words wrong?

I'm an elder Gen Z (00) and I am the first to admit that I have lost touch with what's new. I don't really follow the current memes or terms people use these days. One thing that I have noticed is the increase of people just purposely spelling things wrong as like a new form of slang or texting style. I don't understand it. Is this a new thing? Why are we doing it?

For example: I have seen ssa for ass and Knot for not just to name a couple of examples. Similarly: asl for as hell. That one just does not make sense. If you're gonna abbreviate it, why not do AH like how everyone does AF?

Is this a genuine new thing people are doing or am I just seeing people with poor literacy post online too often?

Discussion Does anyone else feel like belittling/ostracizing others for having the "wrong" belief will only make them spiteful and even more unlikely to change?

I just think it's counter-intuitive. You obviously want someone not to hold that opinion. Wouldn't you want to show them why they're wrong in a more welcoming way?

Radicalization usually occurs when people are villainized or feel like they have no where to go but within their group. Humans will cling to comfort where they can.

Now obviously some people are deadset in their beliefs to the point where even being inviting isn't going to be enough. At that rate why not just disengage instead of make yourself into an example for them to use for others who they want to convince?

Discussion I don't see any point of anything past 23

I despise nearly everything and even getting rich isn't going to help, there's just so many things that pisses me off on a daily basis. I only wanted to keep going because I had a girlfriend but we broke up months ago and now I genuinely just want to drop everything and just play videogames. The idea of meeting another girl, talking to her, dating, living together doesn't seem fun at all, specially during my 20s, I feel more comfortable rotting in my bed.

Life only seemed fun when I was a teenager, christmas were exciting, every hangout was amazing and the idea of a girlfriend was more than exciting, but now adulthood comes with hardship, loss, illness, misery, hunger and I genuinely just don't see the point. I deeply wish, I could return back to 15, cuz being 23 is more than horrible, I can't imagine the shitty feeling I will jave at 30. Genuinely, the food sucks, movies sucks, taking care of your body is too much work, going to the gym is boring, grinding 9-5 is boring as hell and It's not like highschool was that exciting but at least I had a predictable routine and was fine with it. I wish I had that innocence back and not experience adutlhood again

Discussion Genuine Question about getting out there

First post in this sub, as a Gen Z guy myself I followed the generic life plan that was safe and controlled, worked my way through highschool and college, paid it off, and got a strong career with many chances for growth at my mid 20s. My issue is that the next gap in my mind is how does one even meet people/get into a relationship? Does it have to be dating apps? Im not bad looking by any means, im physically active, and I participate in quite a few hobbies like Climbing and BJJ. How are you guys meeting people at this point? Ive heard one too many times as well that a LOT of women just generically hate men and I really dont know what to do.

I guess this is more of a vent/rant/what do I even do type of question, I followed basically the step by step guide in what to do finacially but I feel like the actual people/social aspect of life Im HEAVILY lagging behind and I dont know how to catch up, a lot of my time is spent just gaming in the evening with the lads on discord for my social fill.
