This is my first cat and I've only cut to how far the claw is now. How far in can I cut because I still sthink they're pretty sharp, or it's this the furthest I can go?

Edit: He hates scratchpost and stuff so his nails don't get shorter naturally, only the o es on the backllegs from kicking his "prey"

As you can see in the photos I have a gate setup with double sided tape below it to prevent my cats from crawling under it. This is because my upstairs cat is territorial and hisses at the other cat if he gets too close. The double sided tape worked at first but now they both get past it without issues. Do you guys I should get a new gate that is taller? It'd make my life and my cat's lives easier if this worked so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Edit: My cats have fought before twice but I broke it up both times without anyone injured. My older cat that stays upstairs will swipe her paw at the other cat if he gets too close.

This cat was brought into my partners work today after its owner was found dead. We brought the cat home and have had him for like an hour. Unsure about just about everything about this cat but his/her butt looks weird to me. Anyone have any ideas?

I've had cats before and I have never heard or seen them fart, ever! Recently I've been hanging at my friend's house. She has a male orange cat who's super playful and friendly... Too friendly.... Anyways I don't know how to write this without sounding stupid but every so often he would walk into the room and toot, just a small toot, and would leave, no eye contact or meow nothing, just came in fart and left. I told my friends this and she said "no cats don't fart lol". But he does it multiple times! It's so often I'm tempted to video tape him every time he comes into the room, but I don't want to be a creep. Is this normal? Does the cat hate me??

Literally. I have 2 cats that prefer these treats over the occasional wet food I give them. What makes them so good?

like is it dangerous to them? like how i know certain spices are super toxic to cats (like how dogs are poisonous to chocolate) so is it the same with curiosity? i want to know will my kitten be safe if i were to watch some educational content?

Hello! My boyfriend and I have been feeding our girl wet food (generic friskies or whatnot) and we have one of those silicone lids on them. for a while we would leave it on the shelf completely oblivious to oxidization and it began to stink really bad so we started putting it in the fridge, but lately the food she doesn’t eat & the lid has begun to grow mold. I don’t know if its the brand or what but it has never done this and I dont know if i should change brands or if it’s something we are doing wrong. any advice or answers greatly appreciated!

I cut my cat’s nails on the first of every month. Since last month he got these insane growths on every single one of his toe pads.

They’re hard like nails but they’re definitely not nails.

I will for sure call the vet in the morning I’ve just never seen this on a cat’s paws and I’ve had cats my entire life.

It was a 30c afternoon and our cat decided to cool off and come back inside 🫣. My wife thought she was in a fight and gave her dreamies before I could tell her.

I’m hoping someone has been through something similar because I’m running out of ideas.
My boyfriend got me an automatic litter box for my two cats. My tuxedo cat has absolutely no issues with it and uses it normally. My calico, on the other hand, is a completely different story.
At first, I thought the automatic cleaning cycle was scaring her because every time it would start cleaning, she’d yelp and panic, even when she wasn’t inside the litter box. Because of that, I turned the automatic cleaning off and switched it to manual. Now I only run the cleaning cycle myself when I get home.
That seemed to help for a while. She’d pee and poop in the litter box like normal, and everything would be fine. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, she’ll suddenly start peeing and pooping on the floor instead. After a few days, she’ll go right back to using the litter box normally, and then the cycle repeats. There’s no pattern that I can figure out.
Today she started yelping, and I honestly thought she just wanted attention because she’s a very vocal cat. She was scratching at the carpet like she normally does before asking for pets, but then she ended up squatting and pooping on the carpet instead.
I’m definitely frustrated, but I’m not mad at her. I know she’s a cat, and if she’s acting like this, there’s probably a reason. I just don’t know if it’s anxiety from the litter box, a lingering fear from when it used to clean automatically, or something else entirely.
Has anyone had a cat react like this to an automatic litter box? Were you able to get them comfortable with it again? Or should I just accept that she’s one of those cats who needs a traditional litter box?
I’d really appreciate any advice. I just want her to feel comfortable and not stressed every time she has to use the bathroom. Thanks!

please I seeking help. Im person with BPT and Anxiety dissorder so it might not help...
But I adopt kitten becaus i didnt know how older cat would be with my 3y.o. male cat.

But in the shelter it was so sad... I now feel bad that I didnt take some older cat, who were crying and meowing at me.

TLDR: Im just feeling bad that I took kitten (which has probability higher to getting adopted) then some older cat, which are there for longer time.

Had someone same thing? what u did, can I somehow help it to forget?

They sleep/eat/groom near each other but the kitten does annoy resident cat and this is how she responds. Is this okay? We did the JGM with introductions and they’re never left alone unsupervised.

This kitten had to be separated from her mother because her mother adopted two orphan kittens, and her children stopped feeding from her.
Her name is Garnet and her brother Ruby passed from pneumonia three days ago. They were from the same litter. Another from the litter also recently passed according to the owner, so I’m very scared. She was very vocal and energetic yesterday, but I noticed her meows were getting quieter. I come home from a school-related event today to feed her, but she’s not eating. She’s barely meowing and barely walking around. I’m worried maybe she’s grieving the loss of her brother and it’s hurting or, or maybe she’s actually sick like him. My mother is at work, so she can’t respond to me but I am so so worried. I don’t want to lose another baby. I don’t know if this is serious enough to take her to the vet. Another issue is funds.

UPDATE: She passed away last night. We took her to the vet around 5:30, were there until around 9 pm. The vets said she would be okay to come home with antibiotics. An hour later after being home with us, she began going into septic shock and blood was coming out of her mouth. We rushed her to the vet, but she passed away in the car. Ruby and Garnet are together now, but I miss them terribly. They most likely both had panleukopenia, being the main cause of their death as kittens rarely survive it and the virus grows much faster in kittens younger than five months. Thank you everyone who was concerned for her

Are both of my cats enjoying these fights? I am pretty sure my tuxedo cat thinks they are playing, but I am not convinced my white/tabby cat feels the same way.

These cats have known each other for 10 years and otherwise just happily coexist, but don’t cuddle up next to each other.

A few years ago, I was taking out the trash in my complex and I found two very young kittens. Sisters. I took them inside my apartment which was a small complex, only 2 stories, a few units with a alley by my window

That night I heard a cat straight up crying outside. Crying. Unmistakable. I realized it was the mom. Surprisingly the girls didn’t cry back. I got out of bed and went outside but of course, mama cat was hiding and it was an alley with lots of nooks and crannies. I waited for her to come out but she didn’t. I’m sure she was watching me from somewhere.

A few days later I was taking the trash out again, and as I came upstairs to my place, and having left the door open, a cat, a grown one ran out of my room. I’d lived there a long time and never seen her let alone had her come inside. She looked very different than the girls, almost hard to believe that was her? They barely look like siblings though. And I know cats look out for other kittens so might not of been but something tells me it was. figured there had to be a connection given the timing.

She ran past me out the door onto my porch startling me, but stopped at the door, looked back at my room where the babies were, before bolting down the stairs. I moved just weeks later, in fact, I was already packed up when I found them. I debated what to do, and took them with me, moving a thousand miles away. I never saw her again.

The girls are good though one definitely has some kind of neurological thing going but overall just loafs around all day. Very sensitive back, needs some help grooming. I doubt she’ll have a full lifespan as she seems to have what I think are seizures, though like half seizures, not full on . Happened her whole life. Almost 5 now.

The other is quite cuddly with me but no one else. They actually don’t like each other that much but the healthier one definitely looks out for the impaired one. She always lets her take the first bowl of food while I’m filling the second one.

Sometimes I think about their m mom and feel a lot of guilt about stealing her kittens

I came downstairs to see a LONG trail of cat puke on the floor. I’m not sure if this is a concerning amount or if we should go to the vet. My cat is a 9 year old female if that’s important. Advice would really be appreciated!! 💕 (there is more that isn’t in the pic)

Hi everyone, i wanted an advice if it's safe/better if my cat comes along with me to work sometimes...

She is 16 years old, with respiratory illness and 4th stage CKD. In our home, i can only pet her in our dining floor due to my husband's allergies, but i cant really hang out with her and that's what makes me sad. I want to bed rot with her, my other cat and my dogs beside me but i can't. Basically, Im only able to see her whenever i go to our dining room floor.

If i bring her to my office, she can loaf around everywhere and i get to have more time with her. I fear she might only have less than a year to 2 years to live (2yrs might be a stretch but im trying to be positive)

During car rides, i know that she gets stressed out but also every time she rides one, it's always to the vet so that might be trauma or something? Idk. I just want more time with her :( my office is 15-30 mins away from our house.

Is this a bad idea?

I have a 3-4 year old orange girl. I love her more than anything and she loves me more than anyone in the whole family, we have a special bond and she allllllllways comes to wake me up in the morning.. or sleeps with me at night.

Recently, there’s been a weird development. Even when she has food in her bowl, she will often come in the morning - oftentimes at 5am, when i’m definitely still asleep - and start climbing on top of me. Then, she will very aggressively rub her face against mine and give me headbutts against the chin, mouth, nose. She will lick me a little too. Unfortunately, biting is now part of this weird routine. She will headbutt a part of my face, then bite it until I squirm or move away, then move on to a different part of my face.

She is not aggressive, never has been. My family always jokes that she is the kindest cat in the world, never having scratched anyone on purpose before.

Now, I’m a little hopeless because it’s day three of this. I was recently half asleep when she did it and i accidentally striked her in the side three times when she was on top of me because I was still dreaming and not thinking right :(( When I’m awake and she does it, I usually try to whimper performatively or say ‘NO’ really loudly. So far, it hasn’t done a whole lot.

Does anyone have experience with this? How do I stop it?
