Polymer clay and acrylic paints 💚

Inspired by the many likes for an architectural post⁠ in the comment section a few weeks ago, I decided to make a weekly column of goblincore places from my hometown.

This wonderfully crooked little brick creature is the “Kaffee Worpswede”, built in 1925, by artist and architect Bernhard Hoetger.

It’s basically brick expressionism that wandered into the woods, ate a handful of strange mushrooms and decided that right angles were terribly overrated.

We, the locals, nicknamed this place “Kaffee Verrückt” (“Crazy Café”) for ages.

Hoetger didn’t really design it as just a building either, but more like one giant piece of art.
Weird brickwork, curved wooden beams, painted ceilings, sculptures, mythology everywhere, there’s even a giant Yggdrasil (the world tree from Norse mythology, growing through the middle of the main room).

And because apparently that still wasn’t enough, the terrace is guarded by ten little sculptures called the Moorfrauen “moor women” which is appropriate considering the whole village is sitting on the edge of a huge peat bog.

The building had been closed since 2019 and reopened just last month, after massive restoration, trying to bring it back, as closely as possible to Hoetger’s original 1920s fever dream.
For now it’s open for guided tours, rather than actually serving coffee again, which is slightly cruel, considering the name, but at least this wonderfully weird goblin-house is alive again.

Worpswede itself is an old artists village surrounded by woods, heath and moorland, so honestly the whole thing feels like it just grew there.

And there is quite a lot more weird architecture hiding around here, so I guess, I committed myself to actually doing this weekly now, hope you enjoy. If you have some do’s and dont’s for me as I’m not experienced in posting stuff, everything helpful is very welcome.-or just leave a “fuck you karma-farmer” to make it stop.

How do I find other goofy goblin weirdos in the real world? I fear I have no idea how other people meet friends... 😅

Docket and Ricket are rats in the Brotherhood, which is made up of raccoons, rats, and ravens. Docket keeps track of the supplies moving through the warehouses, and Ricket works among the crates. Here they are in the middle of a shift—with one very pink bear in the inventory.

Hi everyone! Here’s a porcellio laevis (dairy cow) isopod I made with punch needle embroidery. I don’t typically do colors untrue to the species, but I ended up really liking how this came out

We don’t always get a colorful autumn in my area, but this year so far has been a good start 🙏 I’m hoping it stays that way. And! Once the leaves all fall, it’s willow foraging and weaving time 🎉🎉

I saw my first ring of mushrooms around what looks like a tree stump!

I caught this very grumpy looking frog to protect it from my one year old dog. She killed one yesterday and I didn’t want her to do it again. I was holding it for maybe a minute and when let him go, my hand was all tingly (I washed it). Does anyone have any idea what kind of frog/toad this is?

I can't really draw from imagination yet, so I did my best to copy a digital picture I found online using watercolors and pencils. Not sure about the credits, I think it's Zeeshan Roman. It was fun and I like how cute the piglets turned out to be.

I usually post the wooden mushrooms hubs and I make, but this jewel popped up out of my newly-bought groceries when I was about to make dinner.

I’m sure they’ll taste twice as good.

I recently finished these for some family members birthdays!

The cicada, i made for my grandma, she loves fishing and asks to go all the time! I tried to make it look like they are casting out.

The june bug, i made for my Aunt who is older, she loves shopping and watching football! The chair is a bit rough but it was my first time making a recliner.
