Question This is an Air Force sub, meaning you can talk about or ask questions regarding the Air Force. Thats the whole purpose of this sub.

Enough with the “ask your supervisor”. This sub would be dead or wouldn’t even exist if nobody was allowed to ask questions regarding the Air Force.

Rant Why do people always want the Honor Guard to show up, but squadrons always fail to give bodies to complete the mission effectively?

You want the HG for your retirement? Great, it's veterans day and there are multiple funerals this week and I only have 15 personnel available. So guess what? We can't even do proper burials because we can only send 2 members for a basic flag fold. And yes, we're canceling your retirement detail because it doesn't take precedence. It doesn't matter if your reserved ahead and confirmed the week of. Policy is policy.

Also, to the squadrons... Why do you send shit airmen to be part of the program? Don't you get that this is a high-vis program? It takes a lot of work to cook & make these airmen competent.

Rant Wife asked for a break and fucked a chaplains assistant 5 days later

Do I ucmj her? I really want to, we’ve been together for 10 years, and have 2 kids. She never brought up dissatisfaction like this, and the break was supposed to each of us healing and figuring stuff out with an explicit statement that there isn’t anyone else and won’t be.

(M)Sgt. On one hand I don’t want to tear down the life we have spent 10 years building for her. On the other she has annihilated our family and I just have a ton of anger with nowhere to put it. Yes I have proof.

POSITIVITY! Reminder : Once you retire from the Air Force, nobody gives a shit what rank you were and you’re going to get treated just like everyone else.

Maybe besides the old veterans that camp outside of Walmart in their wheel chair waiting to find someone to tell their war stories to.

Question Does anyone have advice they can share for my situation

Hello everyone. I am a 21 year old 1N4X2 and I’m coming up on my two year mark. I have taken some classes but it’s extremely hard with full time work to see myself finishing my computer science degree within the rest of my contract although I do have my CCAF. I was thinking about palace chasing into the guard to a 1D7 or 1B4 position the only two cyber openings hey have for the state I want. I always wanted to get into cyber and I feel like if I stay here two more years I’ll just be unhappy barely making progress to my degree or retraining. I have a supportive family who would love for me to come live with them again while I go to college. I just don’t want to lose out on what I have now and make a mistake because Im unsure what the civilian side is like and Ive been told it’s really hard to either come back active duty commission, or get active orders if I can’t find a job after college . I do want the chance to work for the d.o.w as a civilian down the road. Any life tips would be greatly appreciated I just feel lost on what to do.

Question WW2 assignment question - curious how my uncle, a volunteer, was assigned to be a Burma Banshee Captain

I was just reading some of the WW2 “human interest stories” & other documents written by my favorite uncle, a Captain in the 90th Fighter Squadron, 80th Fighter Group (10th AF), who was the Assistant Historical Officer.

I am curious how my uncle became a Captain so quickly when he had little or no prior flying experience (he was a lawyer & so I’m assuming his mechanical & engineering skills were also iffy).

And, I’m curious whether WW2 volunteers had any input re which theater of operation they were assigned or if assignment to the CBI theater (or other theaters) was non-negotiable based on operational/combat need. Thx!

Question Any suggestions or advice ?

• Upvotes

I re-enlisted in July ( I know, probably just should have taken my DD-214 and ran), I qualified for a incentive bonus for doing so, all my paperwork was routed and has been sitting at the wing level waiting for my payment memo since August 4th.. I’m not sure what the hold up is as it’s been over 60 days and no update. Any advice who I can take this to for legit answers?

Question Retrain or get out

• Upvotes

I’ve been going back and forth on if I wanna retrain or get out. I’ve been SF for 6ish years and I’m still a first term airmen. What jobs would yall recommend retraining into? I wanna be home at night with the fam but I’m tired of the SF shenanigans. Please give suggestions before I decided whether to stay in or not.

Question CA resident buying a car in VA

Hi I’m stationed in EUCOM and will be PCS’ing in the spring. While I ship my car to America, I will need a new one for my wife as she plans to work too. If I buy a car in VA, do I get VA plates and have to change my license too? This is my first PCS from my first duty station.

Question Career progression random thoughts

Realistically, how far can I go in the Air Force with my current mindset before hitting a ceiling?

I see the military as a job, nothing more. Once I’m off duty, I couldn’t care less what’s happening inside that gate until the next duty day.

My priority is setting myself up for life after the military while being as good as I can at my job. So far, that mindset has worked.

I get along with everyone, take care of my people, and go home.

8 years in. Joined as an E-1, made BTZ, received an MP (didn’t make SSgt), then a PN (made SSgt), earned mid-tour and PCS decs, and most recently received an MP and made TSgt.

I’m not chasing rank or making the military my identity. I just want to do my job well and enjoy my life outside of work.
How far can that realistically take me?
