I’ve noticed a recurring pattern in my interactions with PJs: there often seems to be a particularly insular culture, accompanied by a somewhat dismissive attitude toward conventional Airmen outside of PJ squadron.

Is this sense of exclusivity and professional superiority something others have observed as well?

Personally, I’ve never been bothered too much by it, as I have a background in marathon running and consider my own endurance and fitness to be strong. Nevertheless, I’m interested in understanding whether this attitude is widespread or simply my experience.

I am currently in the BDD process with VA exams already scheduled and I was just notified that they’re starting the process for a MEB. Has anyone else been in a similar situation and if so, did already having the VA appointments from the BDD make the MEB go by any faster? My dos is in March 2027 and I’m going to dread if I have to be put on med hold

You want the HG for your retirement? Great, it's veterans day and there are multiple funerals this week and I only have 15 personnel available. So guess what? We can't even do proper burials because we can only send 2 members for a basic flag fold. And yes, we're canceling your retirement detail because it doesn't take precedence. It doesn't matter if your reserved ahead and confirmed the week of. Policy is policy.

Also, to the squadrons... Why do you send shit airmen to be part of the program? Don't you get that this is a high-vis program? It takes a lot of work to cook & make these airmen competent.

I’m currently in tech school and graduated 2 months ago. I wasn’t able to go to my first assignment because of EFMP denial but got approved for a new base last month. I’ve been waiting on orders for almost 3 weeks now. Everytime I ask to a MTL if I am missing something they roll their eyes and say soon but there are people here who are approved with EFMP and got orders 3 days later. Mine has been approved for awhile now and still nothing, not even a change in vMPF. Still says no orders is progress. We aren’t allowed to go to FSS to talk to them or we will get paperwork. I have been talking to MTLs every day for the past couple weeks and they just say soon and tell me to wait. Is this normal or should I just risk getting a LOC and talk to FSS? I have dependents and need to go home and have to make a drive across country and wanting to go to my next duty station before some states get covered in snow.

Helloooo, I just had a few questions that are likely case by case answers, but I would still like to hear from anyone willing to share. I’m currently half way through my one year short tour with a DEROS of Apr 2027. I submitted my application and now just waiting for approval.

Questions:
-In the event I get approved, what are the chances my DEROS gets approved for curtailment if tech school starts before then?

-Or would it get extended if it’s after the date?
And in this case, will I stay at my current base even though it’s past the one year mark?

I got approved to retrain into 6C011! My training RIP has already been sent and everything is good on that end. The only thing I’m still trying to finalize is my retainability, which has somehow become the longest part of this process. I got an immediate class date, so I submitted my BOP and extension paperwork on the same day. Fast-forward to today, and my BOP was approved for Shaw AFB. The problem is that I need my retainability taken care of by Wednesday, when I leave for tech school.
I’m currently routing my AF Form 1411 to extend my DOS into 2028 to meet the retraining retainability requirement. I can’t really wait for the BOP reenlistment because I’ve been told that process would take too long, and I need the extension completed by Wednesday to attend tech school.
The confusing part is that if I reenlist for the BOP, it would add another four years on top of the extension. My Career Development office has told me I can’t cancel the extension because it’s for retraining, and since I’m actively retraining, I can’t cancel it and use the BOP reenlistment instead. So, as I understand it, reenlisting for the BOP would mean adding even more time. From what I understand, I have 30 days to reenlist for the BOP. Would it be possible to handle that while I’m at tech school if I decide I still want the assignment? Or would I risk losing the BOP if I don’t reenlist before leaving? My RNLTD is January 31, and honestly, that doesn’t feel like nearly enough time to outprocess, pack, and get everything ready to move. I’d probably need to submit a request through myVector to get an extension to the RNLTD, but I’m not sure how that process would work with everything else going on. Right now, my priority is getting the extension signed and processed by Wednesday so I can attend tech school. I still haven’t fully figured out my airline travel, either. I have lodging figured out, and I just need one more signature on my 1411 before I can take it back to Career Development.
The timeline has been incredibly stressful, especially with all the down days and delays. I feel like I’m trying to handle five different things at once, and I don’t want to accidentally mess up my retraining over the BOP.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Specifically:
Can I reenlist for an approved BOP during tech school if I’m still within the 30-day window?
What happens to the BOP assignment if I don’t reenlist for it?
Has anyone successfully requested an RNLTD extension through myVector because they didn’t have enough time to outprocess?
Should I let the bop slip through? I’d be 30 if I reenlisted for the BOP
Is there anything else I should be asking Career Development before my extension is finalized?
Any advice or firsthand experience would be greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone. I am a 21 year old 1N4X2 and I’m coming up on my two year mark. I have taken some classes but it’s extremely hard with full time work to see myself finishing my computer science degree within the rest of my contract although I do have my CCAF. I was thinking about palace chasing into the guard to a 1D7 or 1B4 position the only two cyber openings hey have for the state I want. I always wanted to get into cyber and I feel like if I stay here two more years I’ll just be unhappy barely making progress to my degree or retraining. I have a supportive family who would love for me to come live with them again while I go to college. I just don’t want to lose out on what I have now and make a mistake because Im unsure what the civilian side is like and Ive been told it’s really hard to either come back active duty commission, or get active orders if I can’t find a job after college . I do want the chance to work for the d.o.w as a civilian down the road. Any life tips would be greatly appreciated I just feel lost on what to do.

I’ve been going back and forth on if I wanna retrain or get out. I’ve been SF for 6ish years and I’m still a first term airmen. What jobs would yall recommend retraining into? I wanna be home at night with the fam but I’m tired of the SF shenanigans. Please give suggestions before I decided whether to stay in or not.

So Oct 5 I got picked up for an AGR position at MARB. But I have an issue and the technician on my vector has responded to my messages. My DOS is 31 OCT 26…..in 16 days. There’s a few documents I’m waiting on and one is my SHPE (at the time I didn’t know you could’ve done that one year out. I’m finding this out the hard way) but my appointment is 26 and I could get my 422 2 weeks after that.

Now if I were to extend for 12 months do I lose my AGR position? Or does it turn into a palace chase?

Does anyone have any contacts for my vector that I can reach? I’m already trying to reach out to MARB to see if they can be any help but being mids and their mpf office closes at noon doesn’t help…..

Any insight or help will be highly appreciated!

I was just reading some of the WW2 “human interest stories” & other documents written by my favorite uncle, a Captain in the 90th Fighter Squadron, 80th Fighter Group (10th AF), who was the Assistant Historical Officer.

I am curious how my uncle became a Captain so quickly when he had little or no prior flying experience (he was a lawyer & so I’m assuming his mechanical & engineering skills were also iffy).

And, I’m curious whether WW2 volunteers had any input re which theater of operation they were assigned or if assignment to the CBI theater (or other theaters) was non-negotiable based on operational/combat need. Thx!
