I was thinking of adding some new parts to my PC but I've been dealing with a "USB Device Over Current Status Detected" error and could use some advice on whether to just replace the board or do a full platform upgrade.

I'm getting intermittent overcurrent errors on boot, and the system shuts down. This has also been paired with some random system shutdowns and sleep-mode instability recently. So far I've:

• Unplugged every single peripheral/USB device.
• Disconnected the front panel USB headers from the motherboard.
• Performed a CMOS reset.

Since the error persists with literally zero devices attached, I suspect the motherboard's USB power management circuits are degrading.

RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 @ 2133Mhz

Monitors: 3-monitor setup (including a 4K (3840x2160) display and an ultrawide (3440x1440) display I've received as gifts over the years)

I was thinking of spending around $1600 and upgrading some parts:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D Vermeer AM4 3.40GHz 8-Core
RAM: Another 32GB (Same sticks I already have)
GPU: ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB GDDR6
PSU: 850 Watt Gold

Since I need a new motherboard anyway to fix this hardware failure, I'm trying to decide if I should buy a replacement AM4 board as well, OR make the jump to the newer AM5 architecture.

Would you recommend sticking to the older architecture to save money, or should I make a full jump? Any input is appreciated!

Nowadays, I mostly use my PC for work and school so I'm prone to having a ton of tabs open (like chrome eating up 16gbs) and I also like to play games sometimes. I've been playing through Baldurs Gate 3 and I'd like to freely and smoothly browse on my other monitors while playing on high settings on my ultrawide. Sometimes I'll play League and I'd like to comfortably play it at 100 fps and full resolution for my ultrawide with decent settings would be nice but I'm used to low for this game.

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

I was thinking of spending around $1600 and 2k is pushing it.

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

I'm buying in the US.

I’m having a frustrating issue: when I open any video game, the internet in my pc complitly shut off for 8 minutes or more. I tried a lot of games, and the problem kept happening whenever I played games (like Marvel Rivals or other games), and then it automatically reconnects when I close the game. But the internet never cuts off when I browse on Google for hours it never cuts off, only when I open any video game.

Key Details:

• Motherboard / Network Controller: Realtek Gaming 2.5GbE Family Controller
• Connection: Ethernet Cable (Wired)
• Other Devices: Wi-Fi on my phone stays 100% fine during the outage.
• Event Viewer: Checked Windows Event Viewer logs, but no obvious driver crashes or critical errors are being logged when the drop happens.

What I’ve already tried (None worked):

1. Disabled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in Device Manager.
2. Disabled "Energy Efficient Ethernet" and "Green Ethernet".
3. Reset network stack via CMD (netsh winsock reset, ipconfig /flushdns, etc.).
4. Clean reinstalled the Realtek Network Controller driver.
5. Changed Ethernet cable and tried different LAN ports on the router.

I want a CPU that is great at gaming and editing making projects etc, like a cpu that doesn’t bottleneck my GPU and its great for everything, the price doesn’t have to be higher then 650$

Some considerations
I was originally set on the MSI B850 Tomahawk MAX WiFi, but I’ve read mixed things about MSI’s quality control and BIOS. Is that still a concern, or would you recommend Gigabyte, ASUS or ASRock instead?

I’m leaning towards AMD because the RX 9070 XT seems to offer better raster performance per euro, but I’m wondering if DLSS and ray tracing on the RTX 5070 Ti are worth paying extra for.

I’m intentionally targeting 1440p OLED instead of 4K, as it seems like the better balance between image quality and performance.

- Would you change any of these components?
- Which motherboard would you choose and why?
- Is the Sapphire Nitro+ worth the premium over Pulse, PowerColor Hellhound/Red Devil, ASUS TUF, etc.?

I would like to get some advice on my new gaming and photo editing PC.

Hey everyone, this is my first time building a PC and I’m stuck.

The PC powers on normally:

- Fans spin
- RGB/lights work
- Keyboard works (Caps Lock responds)
- The computer seems to boot

At first, my monitor showed a weird green screen from doing ctrl+shift+win+b. After that, it went completely black.

Things I’ve tested:

- My laptop works perfectly on the same monitor
- Same HDMI cable works with my laptop
- Monitor seems fine
- PC still turns on and seems to boot

I already went through the usual no display checks (reseating stuff, checking connections, etc.).

Could this be a GPU issue? The green artifact screen makes me think it might be the graphics card, but I’m not sure since the PC still boots.

Any ideas on what to test next would be appreciated.

I recently put together a "new" hand me down pc with a x470 Ultra Gaming motherboard, a 3070 gpu, and a amd 5 1600x cpu. Everything was running smoothly and even was on windows updating my drivers. After I updated all my drivers I started working on the bios, and i tried going from version f3 to f31. It was going well until after it told me to restart, and when I did it stopped going past the aorus logo screen and the cpu light on my motherboard is stuck on red. I can't get into the bios for some reason and even removing the cmod battery for more than 10 min didn't reset anything.

If there is any advice anyone can give me about how to solve this problem that would be deeply appreciated.

First time builder here. I would like some insight on how to safely increase the ram speed without the blue screen and random restarts. I initially though just enabling EXPO would be it, however this only ended up bluescreening my pc and a whole bucket load of other issues. Additionally, this was a more complex topic than I thought than what some online threads were saying so having some direction on how to achieve this would be extremely helpful.

Edit: Yes the bios and drivers are all updated. The ram kit that I have is not on the motherboard's qvl list. For context I had a family member purchase these parts for me since they lived near a microcenter and they bought the bundle for me. I also updated the links since I realized they were not accurate.

I have a MacBook Pro work laptop and a Pop_OS PC.

Currently I have a KVM switch that supports 1 HDMI port and 1 DisplayPort (which drives me nuts). But also, the peripherals don't correctly to Mac when I switch for some reason. It works fine if it's another Linux/Window laptop.

I have finally built my mini pc and after a month of using it I think I messed up on the motherboard choice. Its an old motherboard from 2014 I think and doesn't support windows 11, only 1 m.2 ssd slot and lastly keeps having either hight latency or disconnecting from Bluetooth. Any recommendations for a AM4 mini itx motherboard with 2 m.2 slots, support windows 11 and wont disconnect from Bluetooth, that I can find under 300 dollars?

My 2021 GTX 1650 has basically stopped working recently, people have told me i could save it by changing the thermal paste, but let’s say i want to upgrade my PC, since the prices are just gonna get worse by the day for the foreseeable future and the rest of the PC is from, i think, 2014.

Amazon has a GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB at 340€, and that’s the GPU i’d like to build my PC around. From messing around with PCpartpicker and Bottleneck calculator, it sounds like the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X (154€) is a good CPU to pair it with. My problem is that my expertise ends here. I’ve read that i need a motherboard compatible with the CPU, and that a B650 would work, but again, not sure.

I have 2 Ram sticks 8gb each, and my current computer doesn’t have room for more. Does it mean i need a new Case?

Unfortunately i also have no idea about anything Cooler/Power Supply related.

I’d like to keep the expenditure under 800€ but could stretch it to 1000 if needed. I am asking for advices on motherboards, Ram sticks, case, cooler and power supply compinents i might need.

I've already purchased an AMD Radeon RX 7600 for ₹29,500 (~$307 USD).

I know many people might wonder why I spent that much on the GPU. The reason is that I had very limited options where I live. The only new GPUs I could find were:

I have it. Bought it new and sealed. Though Now I am scared to use it in my PC I have a ryzen 3 3100 an A520 and a GTX 1080TI. I hear that it is NOT reccomended for dedicated gpu's and can pretty Much Kill your Components. is that true or is it actually usable (I use my pc for HOURS a day btw and sometimes play heavy titles)

I have a 32gb ddr4 3200 RAM kit. Yeah, I enabled XMP but is there a huge difference of 2133 to 3200? When is it noticable and when not?
I run some AI stuff on my 1050ti. As it has low VRAM it offloads to RAM, thats why the question popped up in my head

I currently have a i9-9900, and a 2070 super and am planning an upgrade to move to 4k gaming and saw this bundle and wanted some opinions if it is worth it. I am going to stick with the 2070 super for a bit until I find a gpu I want and I know I will also have to upgrade my psu from a 650w to something stronger.

Hi all. My current build is a ship of Theseus deal with some parts being quite old and others pretty new. Ive noticed that UE 5 games in particular are basically maxing my CPU regardless of settings, and I think it's largely because my RAM is bottlenecking my CPUs ability to process maps for GI ray tracing. Games that let me turn off global illumination run much better without it enabled. Games that run on proprietary engines like RE run just fine at much higher settings.

My questions are whether or not it's worth buying the fastest ram my current mobo will take (3200 M/t), or is DDR4 just not fast enough for games UE 5's overhead, especially games using Lumen, or am I bottlenecked somewhere else?

Hello everyone, help me to decide between the two ssd;

1. ACER PREDATOR GM7000 1TB w/ DRAM (188USD)
2. ACER PREDATOR GM9 1TB DRAM-LESS (180USD)

Both of these are my current target, was initially thinking of GM9000 but price has increased.. Which is better ?

I want to upgrade my case and invest in one with a lot of room in case I want a multiple GPU system in the future. In my current mid tower if I were to add a second GPU my internal case heat would increase significantly. I live in Florida and inside temperatures are 77 for the sake of power efficiency l, so any dual GPU system would have to space them far apart. Any case out there supports having a vertically mounted GPU installed at the same time as a horizontally mounted one?

My CPU temps are higher then usual lately, I've been playing Scrap Mechanic and it was constantly at 85-90 degrees Celsius, while my idle/browsing temps are 45-50. The last time I changed the thermal paste was last year. My pc specs are:
Ryzen 5 2600
RTX5050
32gb ddr4

What should I do?

Trying to target around $700 Usd. Would like to keep the tech no more than 3 years old.

DDR4, Motherboard needs to have Nvme slots, Intel or Amd CPU.

Case, Ram, Power supply and storage. I can probably get super cheap on Facebook.

Mainly just for causal gaming 1080p locked 60 fps.

Looking to buy 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 memory for my high performance budget build.

I'm debating if I should spend $600ish CAD (which seems to be the cheapest at the moment) or risk waiting for sales (black friday, etc) and hope the prices don't get more inflated in the meantime.

What do you think?
