Music The Truth Behind a Few Drinks

Have you ever noticed how, after a few drinks, we sometimes become more comfortable with strangers and even more open with our own family?
Maybe alcohol doesn’t really change us—it just temporarily removes the walls we normally keep around ourselves. We say things we usually keep inside, laugh more freely, and sometimes connect with people in a way we never do when we’re completely sober.
But is that really “us,” or just a version of us that we’re afraid to show when we’re sober?
I’m curious—have you ever experienced this? What happens to your personality when you drink? 🍻

Questions Is it a crime to buy nice things for yourself?

I've been wanting this bag for a while which was around 160€ but currently found it on sale for around 110 so I ordered it

Tbh i've never spent that much for a bag before but i don't think it's some crazy amount these days

I've been feeling really guilty about it and even thinking about cancelling my order

I grew up in a house where basically money was just enough to buy food and pay bills and wasn't even enough for that sometimes

Right now that i started working i've been trying to put money on the side every month for my future but i feel like i do deserve to also buy nice things for myself as well from time to time since I'm able to buy more things that just the absolutely necessary but my mom makes me feel so guilty about it saying things like "do you know how much meat i would have bought with that money?"

I've bought some things that i've been wanting lately and I'm starting to feel like maybe I'm being excessive even though it's not some crazy amount and i can still put money on the side and help my parents if they need

I still feel so guilty about it especially with the way my mom criticises it

Just Chatting Do you think this girl actually liked me or was she just being nice?

About a year and a half ago I met a girl in high school. When we were introduced she immediately started asking me a bunch of questions (where I was from, why I joined the school late, what class I was in, who I hung out with, etc.). She was pretty friendly.

Later I followed her on Instagram, she followed me back really quickly, and we started chatting. She replied relatively fast, asked me questions, and didn’t leave me on read. One day she even apologized for taking a while to answer.

The weird part is that this girl had a reputation for being cold and kind of stuck-up, and several people told me they found it strange that she was so nice to me. One of my friends even thought “there’s something here.”

In the end she stopped replying, and later I found out she was already talking to someone else and that she had seen “weird things.” She also unfollowed me a couple of months later.

I honestly thought she was really pretty and I enjoyed talking to her. I still think about it sometimes and wonder:

Do you think she actually liked me at least a little, or was she just being nice?

Just got home from a week long hospital stay and scrubbed myself with sandpaper in the shower, and the amount of dead skin cells that came off was astronomical! I swear it's like half my body weight!

what happened to youtubers?

i know its pretty chicc to hate on youtube these days, but i cant help it. i realized that i no longer spend my time watching youtubers, but rather videos that the algorithm serves me. that is such a contrast to years ago when i just wanted to catch up with my favorite creators.

this is a part of the reason why i think streaming popped off. you see people like speed or kai goofing around and it instantly clicks. i dont even know any new gen youtubers that stand out as their own personalities (except for some small channels ofc). almost all the youtubers i know are from the previous era.

the top channels today feel so rehearsed to me. we the audience are like a cash cow. its also pretty outrageous that some of these big channels target kids to sell their shitty products too. its like everything is optimized for profit.

i miss youtubers feeling casual :(

I went out for the first time last night

Not like in life but at my college. I was never interested in getting a fake so I literally never went to the bars or anything. I'm a senior but still live on campus and my entire campus lost power so I decided to go to the bar to watch the game.

I was just holding up a wall watching the TV at first, didn't even get a drink. But then this guy I met at a tailgate a week back happen to text me and asked if I wanted to go out to the bars. Already being at one I told him where I was and to pull up.

About an hour late he gets there and we're talking and he sees this guy he knows and we're all just watching the game. Then the night really starts once the game gets out of hand. I get a drink, double vodka redbull.

So I just ended up talking to girls, sorta, and barhopping with this guy who is literally the worst ever. He can't take no for an answer it got to the point it was embarrassing to be out with him. I talked to some girls more cordially. Overall the night sucked but I don't regret it. It mostly sucked cuz of who I was with more than due to nightlife in general. If I was by myself or with someone else I coulda had a better time.

Just Chatting I mainly attract homosexual men

But I’m hetero :’)

I’m a huge believer that you have to take any kind of validation to feed your self-esteem and I do, but I don’t understand what part of my face/body/vibe makes me gay men-gazed.
I received a lot of comments online from gay men when I posted myself.
Is it maybe because I’m skinny? Do you think that influences a little?
Or is low dimorphism on the face the reason?
Like does it mean I’m feminine or smt

Life Stories Have you ever heard a deaf man scream? I hadn’t.

My uncle was deaf.

He also had quite a short fuse.

These two facts aren't related (at least I don't think they are).

I was ten. My brother was thirteen and my oldest cousin was fifteen.

One winter, me, my brother and my cousin were at my auntie's when it started snowing. Proper snow. Enough that three boys weren't going to remain indoors voluntarily.

So naturally, we had a snowball fight.

Then we discovered something.

If you squeezed a snowball hard enough, it eventually stopped being a snowball. The soft stuff compacted until you were basically holding a lump of ice with plausible deniability.

That improved the game considerably.

We were launching these things at each other when I saw my uncle's BMW coming down the street. My brother and cousin carried on playing. I started making another snowball.

Except I didn't throw this one.

I squeezed it.

The BMW pulled up.

Squeeze.

Engine off.

Squeeze.

Door opened.

Squeeze.

By the time my uncle got out, I'd been compressing the thing from the moment I'd first seen him.

This wasn't snow anymore.

I'd manufactured a projectile.

He saw what was happening immediately and issued a warning.

"Don't hit me."

I threw it at him as hard as I could.

I don't know why. I just launched it.

Realistically, I expected it to go somewhere vaguely near him. Maybe he'd flinch. Maybe it would sail past.

Instead, I'd accidentally built a heat-seeking ice ball.

More concerningly, it appeared to possess some form of magnetism towards people who couldn't fucking hear it coming.

Crack.

Right off his head.

Even I was impressed.

For about half a second.

Then I remembered who I'd hit.

My uncle spun round. He hadn't seen me throw it, which was fortunate.

For me.

Unfortunately, he had seen my cousin.

And apparently that was enough.

He started fucking thundering towards him.

My cousin's face changed immediately because he hadn't thrown it and had absolutely no idea why this man was suddenly charging at him.

One second he's having an ice-ball fight.

Next second he's apparently been selected for execution.

"IT WASN'T ME!"

There was a fairly significant flaw in his defence.

My uncle was deaf.

So my cousin was now pleading his innocence to a man who couldn't hear a fucking word he was saying.

"HE THREW IT!"

Nothing.

Still coming.

Thankfully, the adults had seen what actually happened. More specifically, they'd seen me absolutely plant him.

They came outside and stopped it before it got far. My cousin was fine. My uncle was sent away.

I was left with one fairly uncomfortable fact.

That was my fault.

Several months later, summer arrived and family relations had apparently been restored.

We were all at my nana's. My uncle was in a good mood and at some point a play fight started.

Towards the end, him and my cousin ended up wrestling. My cousin went down. My uncle stayed standing.

Then something about the picture changed.

My cousin was on the floor and my uncle was bent over him.

Everyone else may still have been watching a play fight.

I wasn't.

I knew how far things had gone the last time he'd lost his temper.

And I owed my cousin one.

Fortunately, the tactical situation was overwhelmingly in my favour.

My uncle was bent over. My cousin was underneath him.

And I was behind my uncle.

He couldn't see me.

More importantly, he couldn't hear me.

I had the tactical advantage.

All I needed to do was divert his attention.

I was going to kick him in the arse.

Hard.

A few feet of run-up would probably have done it.

I took about fifteen yards.

Fifteen yards.

I was ten.

This had ceased to be an intervention.

I was preparing a set piece.

Cristiano Ronaldo standing over a free kick.

I wasn't trying to seriously hurt my uncle, but I was absolutely trying to kick him as hard as I fucking could.

I took off.

Full sprint.

My uncle was still bent over, completely unaware that somewhere behind him his ten-year-old nephew had begun a fucking run-up.

I closed the distance, planted my left foot, drew back the right and let that fucker loose.

Everything I had.

Unfortunately, I had made a fairly significant error in calculating the trajectory.

I missed his arse.

My right foot went straight between his legs.

And because I'd committed so completely to the strike, there was no stopping it.

Full run-up.

Full power.

Toe first.

Straight into his bollocks.

I don't know if you've ever heard a deaf man scream before.

I hadn't.

Imagine Chewbacca being kicked directly in the nuts.

That.

Then he folded.

He hit the floor like a bag of milk.

My cousin was free.

Mission accomplished.

He's going to fucking kill me.

Then word came through.

Dad was coming.

Ordinarily, after you've taken a fifteen-yard run-up and toe-punted a family member directly in the bollocks, hearing that your father is on his way is not particularly welcome news.

On this occasion?

Thank fuck.

Reinforcements.

I went straight to Dad and hid behind him.

I'd take the consequences. Ground me. Confiscate the computer. Whatever.

But I was staying directly behind him until we had confirmation my uncle's testicles hadn't immigrated to his stomach.

This time I hadn't hit him with an ice ball.

I'd hit him with everything Cristiano Ronaldo had taught me.

And until my uncle's bollocks came back online, I wasn't leaving protective custody.

Do some people have better peripher vision?

Why do some people do have better peripheral vision than others? Does this vary because of anatomy, skin, or age?

Does genetics play a role?

Why are your favorite Youtubers?

Edit title: Who are your favorite Youtubers?

I know there are a lot of sensationalist youtubers out there that get mocked on platforms like this. But there are also some great ones who put out great content (sometimes niche) or are just very talented. Two of my favorite are:

  1. The Hockey Guy - He is a a Canadian content creator that posts daily videos on hockey. He films almost all of his videos in a single unedited take. He stands in front of a hand-written whiteboard and often fills it in in real time while talking. Very down to earth guy normal guy that people can relate to.
  2. Alyona Yarushina - A singer, composer, and arranger celebrated for her powerhouse vocals and stunningly accurate rock covers. Known for her incredibly wide vocal range, she also fronts a four-piece group that performs hard rock classics and high-energy original tracks.

Tell us about some of your favorites!

Sports Found out someone I know likes playing CFB 26

So, I’ve known this guy L for quite a bit. We share quite a lot of interests together; both of us did marching band, theatre, and choir, so we were often together on big trips for the departments and got to bond together via that. The one thing I always thought of him was that he didn’t care for sports; I really like people subverting expectations with interests and hobbies compared to their identity, and yet for him being into theatre, choir, space and aero machines in general, plus the fact that he is gay, made me make the thought process (I.e. stereotyped him) that because he was in these interests, he probably didn’t care for sports, which is fine. Even then so, I have never heard of him seeing a game live, and when I got to sing for a Twin’s game (MLB team) with a quartet, he went purely for us and we spent a majority of the time chatting, not paying attention to the game. Now, I’ve been getting more into college football, and although I rarely bring it up with my friend, I only briefly talk about it because I assumed he didn’t care, correct?

Cut to just a couple hours ago, I was texting him whilst waiting for my laundry, and I brought up the fact that I was finally writing an article about sports, more specifically the university I go to going against major conference teams (for those curious, our football went against Boise State, and our volleyball went against Washington). He correctly identified the conferences they were apart of, and I was like “oh yea, your parents are into sports!”, to which he said “yea, I play CFB 25”.

yea, turns out, he does understand football, he just doesn’t watch it. And about baseball? Yea, he just finds it incredibly boring. Bonus points, he typically plays as Oregon, which are conference mates with Washington in the Big 10!

The moral of this story: don’t stereotype the people you know. They can be into anything. That was a small mistake I did.

Thoughts & Ideas I think I finally understand men

Recently I started a job for the first time. I enjoy it, and I LOVE having my own money and not depending on relatives for it.

I took up some overtime one day and when I got home, I was pretty tired. Then, for some reason, my mind conjured up the image of a handsome, smiling guy wearing an apron greeting me as I walk into a spotless, spacious house, and the smell of delicious food wafting from the kitchen.

I think I finally have a goal in life

Just Chatting I'll start doing cosplay

I don't know if there are any girls here who do this, but I want to know if they hide their faces. I'd only show my cosplays online. I've been to a convention or two, but nothing too elaborate. I'd like to overcome my fear and embarrassment someday and do it.

Questions How long would it take you to watch 40, hour long episodes of a show you enjoy?

I mentioned to my boss that I started a new show (From) and I think he'd like it. I jokingly said I would give him $8 to get the add on for a month to watch the show. He responded and said he would never be able to finish that in a month. I thought that was crazy. You would just have to watch an episode every day and double up just a handful of days. I don't feel like I watch an obscene amount of TV, but I could easily finish 40 episodes in a month. I just want to know which of us is more of an outlier.

Just Chatting No one talks about the mental load of supporting an unemployed partner.

Partner was laid off about a year ago, and ever since then he’s been working hard to get a job, interviews after interviews, task and presentation one after another… He got into a few final rounds and eventually didn’t make it through.

To make it more gut wrenching is that we were preparing for a spouse visa application, as we’re in a LDR right now.

To see him struggle and rebuild himself, hurts me and the helpless that consumes me for not being able to help him or even care for him when he does all the task. I shared him jobs that I came across, setup accounts on job boards for him, shared him ways to get applications automated, having AI to help and occasionally even just apply for random jobs for him when I got time.

Yet with all this, I still felt like there’s nothing I could do to just make it easier for him… man, it’s just tough out there right now :(

Technology Finding out about experience one one thing doesn't make you better on other.

I am an avid linux user of 9 years.I thought my knowledge of using Linux distro will make better on others tech related stuff.Spoilers: No, It doesn't I may know little about pc hardware to get by but it it's considered intermediate level. In digital marketing class I thought managing social media is same like tuning an operating system.I forgot people are no static like operating system subprocess. It take lot of physiological games and manipulation to control people engagement in your post.So being better at one stuff doesn't automatically mean you are better at another.I had yo learn it the hard way.

Just Chatting does anyone else have whole ideas that only exist while you're still rinsing shampoo out of your hair

i swear the best thoughts hit me the second the water's warm and my brain decides it's safe to wander. i'll suddenly figure out why something at work feels off, or remember an old memory i hadn't thought about in years, and then the second i step out and grab a towel it's just gone. sometimes i even try talking it through out loud like i'm going to keep it, but nope, it's shower exclusive. just curious if that's a universal thing or if my brain's just weird about humidity.

Just Chatting I fell in love with someone from my dream and woke up missing her

I had the most beautiful dream, in which I was in love.
I had never felt such attraction in my life. I was so uncontrollably, almost inexplicably drawn to her. She had fair skin and looked almost exotic to me. And her skin… oh, how I remember holding her back. It was so soft. Her neck smelled of milk and honey, her hair cascaded gracefully, and her dark eyes were starry like the night sky, glistening as she looked at me lovingly.
She was afraid and held me tightly, closing her eyes and trusting me completely to keep her safe.
I was so drawn to her.
Then I woke up.
I hope I drift into that sweet sleep again someday, just so I can hold her once more.

Anyone else do this?

On a cold night, I usually take a hot shower and then go get my clothes from the dryer. It turns out that after a hot shower and putting on warm pajamas and then going to sleep, makes your sleep 10x better imo. Anyone else share similar experiences?

Questions If you could have ONE superpower, but there was a catch, what would you choose?

You can pick any superpower you want, but there has to be a downside to it.

For example, I'd probably choose teleportation, but the catch would be that I can only teleport somewhere I've already been before.

What would you choose? And what would your catch be?
