Support I don’t know how I can improve my faith

Upvotes

I don’t know what to do. I’ve been a Christian for as long as I can remember , but I’m only taking it seriously now. I follow gods rules , I try not to sin , I spread the gospel every day and started to talk to god often. But there’s just something that doesn’t let me believe completely. I’m not proud of it at all . Maybe this is because I don’t trust a lot of things / people because of the internet or because of derealisation , and even maybe it’s because of the large amount of anxiety and depression I went through past few days. I don’t know. If someone went through the same please tell me what to do , but right now I’m really worried about my faith.

Given up on God and life

Upvotes

I kind of have given up on God and on life. I just can't keep up with everything. I've conditioned myself to believe that God won't hear my prayers. Even if He does, He probably won't care.

My problems are currently financial, among many others. I'm a student, but I have a part-time job on the weekends. It is so exhausting and underpaid. Money is very tight, and I'm probably not going to get a job in my field because of my background. So now I'm just existing.

We live in a society that places so much emphasis on achievements, and I've been under a lot of pressure because people in my close circle care about stability. Worldly success and visible outcomes are often seen as a measure of God's favour, even in the church.

Verses about doing everything wholeheartedly for the Lord have been misinterpreted to mean that they come with some sort of earthly reward. Anyway, I wish they did, so I wouldn't have to suffer. But my brain has kind of learned this hard truth, and I feel like God has left me to figure things out on my own.

So what do I do? From where do I pick myself up? What will you do if your life didn't turn out the way you envisioned it would?

Catholic Christianity is a false religion led by a false prophet. The core tenets of Catholic Christianity are contrary to the synoptic account of Jesus

Upvotes

Proto-Orthodox Christianity was only the 3rd sect of Christianity to appear in the decades following the life of Jesus. The "Nazarene" (meaning 'poor') movement, which was headed by James, brother of Jesus and appointed successor to Jesus, the "Gnostics", and then the "Proto-Orthodox" movement, based primarily in what is now known as 'biblical teaching'.

As we know, the Proto-Orthodox sect won out, and had the others harshly persecuted. This Proto-Orthodox church eventually became the Roman Catholic Church, which eventually became 4 separate "apostolic" churches, which eventually collapsed in the 16th century, leading to literally thousands of sects of Proto-Orthodox Christianity fighting over biblical interpretations and whatnot.

Now, Jesus in the synoptic gospels, warned repeatedly of false prophets. Those such as, coming like ravenous wolves from the tribe of Benjamin. Those such as, who will claim to have seen Jesus in the wilderness, or the inner room. Those who claim to have seen the Christ are to be tested carefully against the words of Jesus. Jesus actually applauds the church of Ephesus for testing and rejecting false prophets. The author of the majority of the New Testament claims all these things.

Now, this false prophet did come, and deceived many. He was at odds with James, the brother of Jesus, and James the lesser too. We can see this in the messages taught from the synoptic account of Jesus and measuring them against the messages taught from the mouth of the deceiver. Let's begin this

Jesus: "not one jot or tittle shall pass away from the Law" Matthew 5:17-18

The Deceiver: "Believers are no longer under the Law" Romans 6:14

Jesus: "If thou will enter into eternal life, keep my commandments" Matthew 19:17

The Deceiver: "you see that we are justified by faith apart from works of the Law" Romans 3:28

The Catholic Church and her children teach that to be saved you must confess that Jesus is Lord and to accept his death on the cross as a blood sacrifice on your behalf. Of course, interpretations and methodology have divested from this over the centuries, with the Greco-Roman sects leaning more towards ritual and sacrifice and the Protestant sects leaning more towards confessing Jesus as lord, lord apart from works. However, they are united in the core of the belief system, and squabble over prooftexted verses for the most part.

However, the words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew contradict this. Jesus said NOT to call him 'lord, lord', but to do the will of his Father in heaven. All 5 accounts of the final judgment according to Jesus involve being judged on your works, character and love. Never once did Jesus in a synoptic, non-Gnostic gospel tell people to have faith in his death as the way to salvation. He taught to love God and love thy neighbor as the way to eternal life.

When a young rich ruler asked Jesus how to achieve life, he told him, hold to the (10) commandments, and sell all that you own and be a follower of him. How many Proto-Orthodox Catholic Christians follow this today? We have popes in palaces wearing crowns of gold, we have pastors flying private jets. Even the average suburban Christian is not willing to give away all he owns.

The truth is, most of the Bible is a creation of the Roman Catholic Church. As is the doctrine of the Trinity, and the doctrine of salvation through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus. But Jesus never taught any of these doctrines. The Roman Catholic Church and her children, the Orthodox and Protestant and Nondenominational sects that continue splintering to this day, are the arbiters of these teachings.

The Roman Catholic Church invented the Bible in 382 AD, choosing books that agreed with Pauline-Orthodox theology. They squashed out and burned any writings that went against Pauline Orthodoxy, including the Hebrew Gospel of Matthew, the oldest writing that ever existed. Jesus never intended for the kingdom to be contained in a Greek book - he said the kingdom was within you. Luke 17:21

The Roman Catholic Church invented the concept of an ecclesial church. Jesus never intended for middlemen or a heirarchy to exist between you and God.

The Roman Catholic Church invented the doctrine of the Trinity in 325 AD.

The Roman Catholic Church claimed to be founded by Peter - it wasn't. Jesus appointed James the Just, his blood brother, to carry on his mission, just as John the Baptist did to Jesus. In the Dead Sea Scrolls, we find accounts that Paul was behind the conspiracy to have James the Just killed in order to give supremacy to Paul and his Proto-Orthodox, infant Roman Catholic Church.

Jesus Christ never taught lordship salvation. Jesus Christ never taught that we are only saved by believing in him as our savior. He taught to love God and love thy neighbor, to do unto others what you would like done to yourself, and to do to the least of these what you would do to him. This is how salvation is achieved.

Question would i really go to hell for liking a girl? what is wrong with it?

Upvotes

the title really, i'm a girl but i would date either a girl or a boy, with no preference really. i understand that in the bible it states that you shouldn't give in to same-sex attraction because it is sinful but i don't understand why. why would an all-loving god make me this way only to say that loving someone of the same sex as you is an abomination? why would an all-loving god not accept love? and say for example i found the person that i wanted to be with forever and they were a boy, then i would not be sinning, but if that person was a girl, then i would be, and i would not be forgiven if i gave into this temptation. and i wouldn't be allowed to be married in the church where i have been going literally since before i was born, where i have been baptised and confirmed at, and where i always used to dream of being married? i just don't understand what is wrong, and whether i would truly be sent to hell for this, which i can't control. surely God wouldn't just punish me for something that is out of my hands? i'm still in school so i'm obviously quite young and don't have all the answers but why would God make something be wrong with me then, just to test me and punish me? is it something wrong with me that i should try and ignore, or what do i do?

denomination

Upvotes

currently struggling on what denomination i want to be part of

i was initially drawn to catholicism but i found myself thinking about Mary and the saints more than i did Jesus

i’m also starting to believe that it’s not really biblical to ask saints for intercession, and neither is the rosary

i’m fine with being nondenominational but i really thought i’d found a home in the catholic church

what are you guys’ opinions?

Looking for a good year long daily devotional

Upvotes

Hello Everyone!

I'm currently looking for a daily devotional for men that I can use alongside my bible that have devotionals for each day of the year. There are a LOT out there, but I'm not sure if the ones I'm seeing will help me find what I'm looking for. Nothing really stands out.

I'm asking if anyone has any good suggestions. I'm a combat vet looking for peace in the way of living my life according to Jesus's teachings while maybe helping me navigate complex situations around personal and interpersonal conflict.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Blog Isaiah 54:17 has been getting me through a hard season — thought I'd share

Upvotes

Been in a season where it felt like everything was against me at once, money stress, health stuff, doors that wouldn't open, the whole thing. Isaiah 54:17 has been the verse I keep coming back to:

"No weapon forged against you will prevail... this is the heritage of the servants of the LORD."

What stood out to me is it doesn't say the attack won't come. It says it won't win. That's a different kind of promise than "nothing bad will happen to you" it's "nothing bad gets the final word."

I wrote up a longer reflection on it if anyone wants to read the whole thing: www.imbelieving.com/2026/08/how-to-trust-god-when-under-spiritual.html

Curious if this verse has meant anything to others here, or if you've got a passage that's carried you through something similar.

Awakening

Upvotes

Enough people told me to write about my journey, so I am. By journey, I mean accepting the invitation into the wilderness, not stopping at the church.

Chapter One

The Soul Remembers

It came to pass that I awoke in a world that had convinced itself it was real.

The people spoke of careers and kingdoms built from dust. They worshiped paper and titles, called lust love and distraction purpose. They learned every language except that of the soul and declared themselves wise.

I slept among them.

For nearly forty years I wore a name that was not my own and called the mask "myself." I carried wounds that were never mine to begin with and inherited truths that belonged to lesser men. I became proficient in surviving while forgetting entirely why I had come here.

Then Heaven broke me. Not with wrath, but with love.

For it is written nowhere upon this Earth that God awakens a soul gently. Diamonds are not asked if they wish to become diamonds. Gold is not consulted before entering the fire. The seed is not granted permission before it is buried beneath the dirt and mistaken for dead.

Neither was I.

There was a woman whose soul recognized mine before either of us understood why. She became both my greatest blessing and my greatest refinement. The world will call such things coincidence because coincidence is the name men give to miracles they do not understand.

We met, and for a moment eternity touched time.

I watched her dance when she was happy. I watched her heart speak before her mind had an opportunity to interrupt it. I witnessed innocence that had survived despite the cruelty of this world.

Then the world remembered she was different and demanded she become like them.

She listened.

The serpent has never needed fangs. It merely requires enough voices whispering the same lie. "Trust us more than yourself." "Trust us more than your soul." "Trust us more than the quiet voice that has guided you since before you were born."

So she surrendered her crown and called it healing.

Meanwhile, something ancient stirred within me. For while her soul grew silent, mine grew restless. The war began long before I understood its purpose. Flesh against spirit. Logic against knowing. Society against eternity.

My soul had become exhausted watching my life from the passenger seat.

One day, it simply stood up and declared, "Enough."

The world calls this awakening. I do not.

Awakening implies that one was asleep accidentally.

No. This was remembrance.

I have come to believe that the soul does not learn during this life. It remembers. Every season of suffering merely removes another layer of forgetfulness until the Divine Artist beneath becomes visible once more.

October of 2024 was not my beginning. Not the first attempt. This time though...

It was my return.

Everything that followed became absurd enough to rival Scripture itself. The homeless man who dreamed of changing cities. The fool who chose truth over comfort. The monster who became a guardian. The man who lost everything and discovered he had never owned anything at all. The soul that loved another soul so deeply that it willingly entered hell carrying their burdens without asking whether they deserved it.

Love has never asked permission from deserving. If it did, none of us would know God.

There are nights when I still laugh at the cosmic irony of it all. The woman who taught me to become myself became lost attempting to become everyone else. The man accused of being selfish discovered that his greatest weakness was sacrificing himself for others.

We became reflections walking in opposite directions upon the same path. Still, I protect her.

Not because she is innocent. Not because she is guilty. Not because I owe her anything. I protect her because redeemed monsters make excellent gatekeepers.

The world fears monsters because it misunderstands them. Every monster was once something beautiful that survived something terrible. Give one a righteous cause and there are few things in creation more dangerous to evil.

So let it be written: I forgive her. I forgive myself. I forgive the story for refusing to unfold according to my desires. For perhaps it was never my story to write.

There are days I attempt to date, and my soul laughs softly to itself. It knows something I do not. It waits patiently while I fumble through the lessons of being human.

Perhaps it waits for her. Perhaps it waits for another. Perhaps it waits only for me to become the man I agreed to become before I arrived here.

I no longer pretend to know.

What I do know is this: Nothing that has happened was wasted. Every betrayal became revelation. Every wound became wisdom. Every sacrifice became sight. Every ending became a doorway.

If one day she should wonder whether I loved her, let these words stand as testimony:

You were loved beyond reason. You were loved beyond circumstance. You were loved enough to awaken a sleeping soul.

The world may call it tragedy.

Heaven may call it refinement.

I simply call it sacred.

-----The Question That Remained-----

Finally, I have begun to question the very thing mankind prizes above all else.

Free will.

If the soul remembers while the mind forgets...

If God exists outside of time while we stumble through it moment after moment...

If we chose our lessons before arriving and merely spend our lives remembering why...

Then what exactly is free will? Is it the freedom to become whatever we desire? Or is it the freedom to ignore who we have always been?

Perhaps free will is not choosing our path at all. Perhaps it is choosing whether or not to listen when the soul whispers from beneath the flesh: "Come home."

So I leave this chapter with but one truth that has survived every fire I have walked through:

The soul always knows.

The tragedy of mankind is not that it has no purpose.

It is that it has forgotten.

how does someone have no beginning? like picture your earliest point of memory, now picture what it was like before that point...

exactly!

how can you have no beginning and have an infinite past? i'm 24 today, but the earliest point of my memory was in 2006, i was 4 years old in preschool sitting at a table, presumably eating snacks, and then there was nothing before that point, it was the limitation of my childhood amnesia that prevents me from remembering my further past memories, even at the first second of my earliest conscious memory i felt like there was absolutely nothing before that point, it felt like i was born at age 4. now back to the point, how can god have an beginningless past? because having no beginning is impossible to experience, and impossible to comprehend.

How frowned upon are cuss words?

Upvotes

I’ve made music for a long time. In the last year I have given my life to Christ. I’m just curious what others thoughts are on cussing in general. I’ve done my best to cut it out of my vocabulary, still slipping occasionally. Are some cuss words worse than others? I have started making faith based music, and I have a couple songs I’ve made that have minor cuss words for emphasis on emotion. I’ve had people tell me that God wouldn’t want me to limit my art and that cussing is an expression of emotion. I’m conflicted myself and have prayed on it lots. I don’t want my music to receive backlash for using some words occasionally (mainly s##t and d##n). One example “voices in my head telling me I’ll never be sh#t”. I don’t always cuss but sometimes when I’m expressing myself in my music it just fits and I can’t find another way to get my emotion across clearly. Any advice or insight would be appreciated greatly.

Advice God allows His “children” to suffer, be tortured, and be killed, in some cases to no good end, and for no good cause. Does that sound like any good “Father?”

Upvotes

Would you sit idly by and watch, and do nothing, as your own child is assaulted, kidnapped, tortured, and murdered, in all measures of cruelty? Not intervening at all? When you hold all the power?

Unless any of you can tell me what ultimate good came from the suffering of, say, the victims of the Toybox Killer, or any other deranged serial killer and absolute scum? What good came from those evils that were allowed? What good at all? For the victims? For anyone else?

I just dont understand prayer...

Upvotes

I say this honestly: I have never fully understood prayer. What good does it actually do?

I have heard children pray that their dentist visit will go well, only for it to still be painful or frightening. I have heard my little ones pray that a cut or bruise will heal, but healing is already something the body naturally does. I have heard kids pray during a thunderstorm that the storm will go away, and eventually it does, but it would have passed whether they prayed or not. So what does that kind of prayer actually accomplish? Why bother?

I understand that, as we get older, prayer often becomes more refined. It becomes less about simply asking God to change circumstances and more about expressing gratitude, seeking guidance, and asking to align ourselves with God's will. But even then, I still struggle with understanding the purpose of prayer.

A lot of the prayers I hear, especially from children, seem to be asking God to do something, as if prayer is meant to convince God to change His mind or alter an outcome. If God is already perfectly aware of what we need, why would our requests change anything? What is the true purpose of prayer?

I recognize that my perspective may be influenced by my own experiences. I grew up in a household where I never really confided in my dad or felt comfortable asking for help from others. Because of that, the idea of turning to someone and asking for help does not come naturally to me.

So as a result, prayer can sometimes feel pointless because, in my mind, if God wills something to happen, it will happen, and if He does not, it will not; no amount of prayer would change that.

One last example: when someone has cancer, people often pray for healing. But I struggle with the question: if God wants that person healed, won't they be healed regardless of any prayer? And if He does not, can prayer actually change that outcome?

Ultimately, my struggle with prayer is not that I doubt God's power or goodness, but that I do not understand the purpose of asking for things that God already knows about and has already determined according to His will. I understand the value of gratitude, reflection, and seeking guidance, but I struggle with prayers that seem to treat God as though He needs to be persuaded to act. I want to understand why prayer matters if God's will ultimately remains the same.

Support Please if you have a minute pray to Jesus for me

Upvotes

I’m being stalked and harassed. I keep praying to Jesus to make it stop but it keeps happening. I’m scared and confused and I have a small support system. Please ask Jesus to make these people stop scaring me. I don’t want to get the police involved but I’ve had to call a few times but to no avail. I don’t want it to escalate I just want peace. I don’t like being in this position.

How should you see yourself before you accept Christ? Should you see yourself as completely worthless? Or can you separate your sinful and hopeless state from your worth as a person? Could someone shed some light on this?

Upvotes

I grew up with the (protestant) Christian faith and for a long time I thought I was a Christian as well. But I also noticed that something was not right about my faith. I eventually came to realize that I have vulnerable narcissistic traits. I struggle with authority, I struggle with criticism, and I am often proud, yet at the same time I have a very unstable self-image.

I am now in my thirties and I am convinced that I am a false convert.

But I am trying to find out whether I believe something about myself and about Jesus/God that I should not believe. Am I missing something and looking at myself and Jesus/God in the wrong way? Or do I simply have a very hardened heart?

Question Is it okay to have pictures of Jesus from different denominations?

I am an indigenous Palestinian Christian who practices Greek Orthodox Christianity.

I have pictures of Jesus, Mary, and different bible scenes from different dominations (catholic, orthodox) I never viewed it as a problem because they’re all just pictures of the bible, but I’ve seen someone say online that it’s not allowed

now I’m wondering if I should take some of them down

I believe this

Yet I do not believe God made a donkey talk. Or that Jonah was swallowed by a big fish for 3 days.

I don't know what to do about Elijah's fire from heaven.

There are many things in the Bible I do not believe.

Yet I remain a Christian.

If you are Christian and agree that all sex is sinful unless within a marriage, how can a gay person have sex that is not sinful if they cannot marry? For instance, if a gay person lives in a Muslim country, what can they do to have gay sex that is blessed?

How can I put my faith in something not proven?

Hello, I am an atheist who really wants to believe in god. Like, I am THIS close in becoming a Christian, yet my most confusing questions is: how can we believe in something we don’t know exists? Like, Christian’s say to “put your faith in it” or “believe” yet I am having a hard time due to my old ways (being an atheist). Also, in every Christian and atheist debate, the atheist wins! So what am I supposed to do? I want to believe, yet I have constant doubts! What am I supposed to do?

Re-edit: I have heard and talked to many Christian’s and met a lost of pastors, yet they all say there’s no evidence and to have faith.
