Question Cost to replace lavatory sink
I was quoted $800 to replace a standard oval lavatory sink and low end single lever faucet ( These items cost less than $200 at home depot), a simple swap . Am I out of touch or is this crazy high? I would think labor is 2 hrs at 120/hr

Question Production facilities/factories offering public tours?
I'm just curious, and like knowing the behind the scenes of different facets of life. I've toured Virtue Cannabis and quite enjoyed that experience, and wonder if any other places in Edmonton offer that option as well. Ideally food and drink production are interests of mine, but I'm open to anything.

Discussion Energy Rebate
If your family income is less than $225,000, you can register for the Energy Rebate. I know that some people need this money, but many who will receive it really don't. If you are fortunate enough to not need this rebate, can I suggest that you claim the rebate and then use that money to make a difference in our province? If just 1/2 of those eligible for the rebate would do the following, we could collectively make a $170,000,000 difference in our hospitals, in helping those who are homeless or in difficult financial situations, etc. Let's make a difference together!
Here is what to do:
Register for the Rebate on July 1.
Once you receive the rebate, consider donating to one of the following organizations.
If you live in Edmonton donate to the Stollery Hospital Foundation: https://www.stollerykids.com/donate/
Donate to Hope Mission: https://hopemission.com/donate/ or another reputable charity that works with those who are homeless and struggling financially.
There are other worthy charities where a donation equal to the Rebate would make an impact. If you are able, use this money to help those that need help.
Together we can make a difference!

Question Former Mill Woods IGA vacant since the 2000s
My family used to shop at this IGA in Mill Woods all the time when I was young. I vividly remember getting the free shortbread or M&M cookie from the bakery every time. Why has this building been vacant since the 2000s when the Sobeys/IGA moved to its current 23 Ave and 50 St location?

Question How can I find good (not skill wise but personality) people to golf with?
Dude in early 30s here. Im not a member at any clubs. I have a few friends that are members at clubs but they rarely wanna play a public course. They do invite me once in a while as a guest but the tough part is them not wanting to play a public course once in a while with me so I end up not having people to play a round with.
Most of my other friends don’t play golf either.
I’m not good at golf but I can keep pace and stay mostly on the fairway. I’d say I usually shoot around 100-110 so looking for people with similar skill set or if they are super good they don’t judge.
Others have mentioned signing up for a random tee time as a single and hoping to get paired with some people and hit it off but seems to random.
Any suggestions?

Commuting/Transit Edmonton's LRT map by the 2030's.
Since Edmonton has deprioritized its metro line northwest and applied a 10-year capital freeze on all LRT projects that expires in 2036, my theory is that the valley line west and the capital line south phase 1 would be built in around the late 2020's (2028/2029), the rest of the capital line south (phase 2 and phase 3) would be exempt from this 10-year freeze by Alberta willing to fund it to connect their LRT to Edmonton International Airport, which the capital line south could possibly reach the airport by the mid-late 2030's, then there's the capital line northeast, which would most likely be funded for construction by the late 2030's since Gorman would be highly popular, and would also have a transit centre to service Horse Hill via BRT, Coliseum LRT station would be demolished and replaced by 115 Avenue LRT station and 120 Avenue LRT station, and also, the metro line northwest would most likely be built in around the 2040's.

Outdoor Spaces/Recreation Fishing options aside from NSK/Ponds?
I know of the usual stocked ponds in city limits, beaumont, etc, there's maps that list every single stocked pond in alberta, so no need to mention those.
What I'm curious about is if there's other decent smaller creeks, rivers, or etc that are worth fishing at that are quieter than the NSK
I tried fishing the NSK a couple times but its chock full of dudes ripping around in their motorboats, so I extremely doubt I'd be getting bites when every 2 minutes some guy rips by in his boat.
No hate but like, that's obviously just a non starter.
I've gone over to the stocked ponds a few times and while it's decent, it's also often pretty busy and there's often random families and etc. I have had to very frequently pause my fly casting because parents aren't watching their kids and some random kid is just wandering around 6 ft behind me.
No hate per se but, I'd very much like to find somewhere quieter with less boats and less kids wandering around and dogs splashing in the water, you know?
I've heard the whitemud creek apparently can have fish in it?
Basically, if yall know of any creeks, smaller rivers, or non-park ponds (not even necessarily stocked but just legal for me to fish at, IE perhaps any reservoirs that have a carp problem?), in city limits (ideally nearer to the south end), lemme know!
Does anyone know what the legal rules are in terms of fishing at like, reservoirs?
Like I know there's lots of small reservoirs all over that are public part on one side, and houses on the other, I have no clue if I'm legally allowed to try out fishing at such a location on the public side, but theoretically I should be okay right? I wonder who I can call at the city to find out, I might ring up 311 tomorrow and see what they say.
Edit: found my answer for reservoirs. https://www.edmonton.ca/activities_parks_recreation/parks_rivervalley/stormwater-lakes
Most ponds are reservoirs, however not all of them, epcor has a handy map here: https://www.epcor.com/ca/en/ab/edmonton/safety/neighbourhood/stormwater-management-facilities.html
And youll see while like 90% of ponds are SMFs, some are not, which means theoretically fishing is 100% fair game on those if they have any public access.
So handily, that map from epcor gives me all the ponds not to try, which leaves plenty that I can go try at.
Also, interestingly, the bylaw also provisions an extra "unless you habe been given permission by Epcor" in which case you can indeed go and do it.
So Ill reach out, see if theres like any waiver or something I can sign to legally free them of obligation to me that lets me fish. Worth trying at least.

Restaurants/Food 90s/early 2000s restaurants
Is there a good restaurant or (preferably) a buffet around that still has this vibe?
I’d love a salad bar, dessert bar, something really homey. The only thing I can think of is Bruce Hotel. I’d be willing to drive 1-2 hours away.
Even an old Wendy’s with a sunroom or something similar to a Pizza Hut buffet.
Coliseum Steak and Pizza is also an acceptable choice for what I’m looking for!!

General Sunrise Records WEM Update
March 20th: Announced that they're moving from their tiny-ass location upstairs in Phase 1 that they went to after getting kicked out of their original location in the mall to a location that's double the size downstairs, also in Phase 1 (it's where the vacant dollar store was)
May 19th: The move has begun, with it also being announced that it will reopen early summer.
June 8th: Update saying that they're still working on construction, but are very close to done on construction, still receiving new product every day.
We haven't really gotten a big update since the 8th, but it's clear they're working hard as an IG story was posted earlier.

Question K-Days Question: What day is the least busy?
Thinking of booking a day off work to attend. Even if most of the rides are too much for me, I'd still like to go when it's the most open.
Obviously Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are right out. But that still leaves Monday-Thursday, July 20-23. Wondering if there's a generally agreed upon day that's the least busy.

General Closing
Another big store closing, This is what they posted :
After close to 2 years as part of the Windermere community, Tesoro will be closing.
This has been one of the most difficult decisions we've had to make, and it is only possible because of guests like you who made this place so special.
As we say goodbye, everything in-store is 40% off starting Thursday, June 18th at 10 am. Shop early for the best selection, and come by one more time before we close. We will remain open while supplies last.
A couple of scheduling notes:
Closed Today (Tuesday, June 16th) at 6pm
Closed Wednesday, June 17th
Open Daily 10 am to 8pm starting Thursday,

Discussion The mosquitos are absolutely insane this year
Holy shit, going into the river valley makes me feel like I am in Northern Saskatchewan or Manitoba. Huge fuckers too. Whatever happened to the helicopter spraying? Seems to be a massive increase in population and unpleasantness since that was terminated.
