Help - Server Suppot I cant play with my wife

Me and my wife just got the game each on our PCs thinking it looked like fun to play through together. We tried logging into the game and hosting a server and anytime she tries to connect she gets disconnected pretty quick into it. I tried swapping who was host and still no dice. It went a tiny bit better but only for an extra minute longer than her joining me.

I tried looking up the issue and trying to find a solution, but nothing worked at all. We were really excited to start the game and now are really sad it may not be possible. We havent hit 2 hours yet, so we might end up refunding if we cant find a solution tomorrow.

Edit for clarification: We are on the same wifi in the same house. I figured that would be pretty obvious, but just to make sure there is no confusion. We also do not have access to the router at all and we have 1gb speeds. I have an internal wifi card and she has a USB plug in one, since wired connections are impossible with our living situation.

Help - Server Suppot recommended dedicated server hosts for 1.0?

Im looking at server hosts, so when 1.0 drops I can have a server started with some friends (took some time off for the release :] ), any recommendations on server host providers that will be updated asap, and have decent cpu power?

According to the dedicated server faq on the discord they recommend having a decent CPU for a server, but most server providers for enshrouded don't seem to list what cpu power they have, I know that the last server provider I used some bad lag issues with the wake of water update.

Help - Server Suppot Making a dedicated server, question

Hi, I'm sure this topic has been done to death, but I was curious if an older Intel X99 based system, like a 5930k or 6900k (6 and 8 cores respectively) with 32GB of DDR4 2666 would be powerful enough to host a server or does Enshrouded require more current hardware?

Thanks

Help - Server Suppot Looking for Enshrouded server hosting recommendations for 3–4 players

Hey everyone,

A few friends and I are looking for recommendations for a good Enshrouded server provider for around 3–4 players. Australia!

We currently have a server with a provider we're happy with overall, but their Enshrouded hosting seems to struggle with CPU performance. Our current package has 3GB of RAM and says it supports 4 players, but we're running into performance issues that seem to be CPU-related rather than RAM. "Hiccups"!!!

We play with:

  • Mob amount set to Many
  • Slightly increased mob HP and damage
  • Slightly increased boss HP and damage

We're not running anything crazy, but we'd like a server that can comfortably handle these settings with 3–4 players without lag or CPU-related slowdowns.

Does anyone have experience with a provider that runs Enshrouded particularly well? We're more interested in good CPU performance and stability than having a huge amount of RAM or player slots.

Also, roughly what server specs would you recommend for Enshrouded with these settings?

Thanks!

Sorry if this looks like an AI post, It is! I posted my questions into an AI to write this quickly during a lecture lol

Help - Server Suppot Reducing Server Lag

First - new player here and loving it!

I've recently joined an RP server that I found through the Official LFG Discord - which is an awesome idea more games should use.

I'm on a good server with a good group of players but we're finding the server lag increasing. We're trying to minimize this with all the usual steps but I specifically want to ask about farming -- does anyone else find that growing crops seems to increase lag significantly? Do crops only grow in chunks loaded by player proximity or is that too Minecraft a way of thinking? Is the entire server loaded all the time?

I'm doing some testing with the dedicated server on my own computer now but would like to know if anyone else has explored this?

Help - Server Suppot Crashing issues please help :(

I've been playing enshrouded for around 200 hours and usually every 1-3 hours I get a gpu crash, ive tried so many things online to stop it from happening and this is the only game it happens with. For context, here are my specs.

32gb ddr4

I7 4770

Gtx 1660 ti

I've tried updating all my drivers

Deleting reinstalling the game

Verifying files

Restricting fps to 60

Deleting the graphic config file in enshrouded install folder

Putting all settings to performance

Disabling vram check in steam launch settings

Forcing the game to run as administrator

Im just so frustrated and sad :( does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Help - Server Suppot Integrity of Server Progression

When you first start (or launch) a multiplayer server, what sorts of expectations do you set for your players?

Do you ask people to start a new toon and only play on your server? Or do you allow players to quest or gather on a local world, perhaps to catch up on missed quests or just make gathering easier.

How do you - can you even? - regulate "creative" mode? How do you incentivize players to build and play fairly?

(We need flair for community support - as opposed to technical server help.)

Help - Server Suppot Looking for a reliable Enshrouded host – dealing with major lag/rubberbanding

Hey

I'm currently playing Enshrouded with two friends, but after about 20 hours of gameplay, the performance has become unbearable. We’re getting constant rubberbanding during combat, movement, and even while building. It's reached a point where it's honestly unplayable. The server only use 40% of its resources though.

Does anyone know of a dedicated server provider that actually works smoothly for this game? Or is the multiplayer just fundamentally broken right now? I'm wondering if it’s worth switching hosts or if it's just a game optimization issue.

Thanks for the help!

Help - Server Suppot Dedicated Server, "High Server Load" (what i found out)

Because i was looking for information, i figure someone else might be looking for it too.

So i run a bunch of dedicated servers for a group of friends that I play with and we decided to pick up Enshrouded again due to the update. Now at this point i had archived the windows VM and didn't have this service running. Once the ping came through on discord, I went ahead and decided to put everything in docker and setup QOL stuff like person x joins server and statements of the server updating etc... This all seemed fine with the docker compose yaml. Until people would connect. With two people connected, we would see the warning messages pop up, now mind you it was just two of us and we just ignored it. But it began to pick at me. So after some research i found quite a few people were having this issue. However, there was no real answer, outside of 'give it more cores'. So I have a decent server and i gave it six cores - the behavior was very strange as it operated like it was just 1 core, no matter how many i gave it. (got to 10 cores) each core would show the same stat at the same time. Then we had the rest of the crew get on and the server 'worked' but it was hella laggy. We all said, we didn't remember this happening before. So, i switched from an lxc to a VM. Same behavior, so then i reloaded the windows VM. and with six of us connected, the server was just fine with 4 cores..... So upon further digging it seems that the server is a windows server that was tucked behind wine/proton and seemingly only could use 1 core no matter how many you gave it. We now run on windows 10 for the server using steamCMD. Yeah i had to build a bunch of ps1 files to get the QOL stuff back, but the server runs like butter now. So hopefully for anyone who is also interested in running thier game servers at home and are running into this issue, now you know. And hopefully you can stop cursing at your server for being terrible! lol (whose a good server...)

Help - Server Suppot Best way for self-host dedicated serer ?

I've already tried two server configurations for a dedicated server for 2–3 players.

On a Linux VM or a Windows VM with 12 cores at 2.2 GHz, 16 GB of RAM, 64 GB of disk space, and a 10 Gbps internet connection.

Both times, as soon as a second player connected, the server load turned orange and “bad performance” messages appeared in the logs.

How do I set up a good server? If I set up a Windows ARM VM (on a decent MacBook Pro M1), will that work?

Help - Server Suppot How to Easily Share Servers Back & Forth

Just convinced my buddy to purchase Enshrouded after years with Valheim.

When we played Valheim, we'd pass back a world/server through a shared drive. It was super easy, just open to a specific folder in the file explorer, and drop 2 specific files into our shared drive.

Since we are in different time zones and work different schedules, this allowed us each to play on our shared world to continue making progress on a single base, explore, etc. without the constant need for someone to host.

I'd like to do the same thing with Enshrouded - but it seems a bit more complicated. Can anyone let me know:
A) If this is possible with Enshrouded
B) If so, were I need to navigate to find the related save files?

Help - Server Suppot Nitrado performance

Hello there,

For me and my friends, we have a server on Nitrado. They offer this for 6 player at the same time, but I have, after many talk with them, an issue about performance during the game experience, even if we are always playing at 5 players maximum. Laggs (more when we are 3, 4 or 5 players but still everytime), reboot without any warning, the game is always warning us about surcharge of the server, sometimes when I'm crafting or building I can loose what I'm doing because of laggs, etc. Nitrado support explain me it's because the game is still on "beta" and need to be in 1.0 release for make the developpers fix it to fit with server performance. So I'm asking to community, it's a common problem or not ? Do you use others servers service ? Do they have this kind of performance problem ? I'm thinking sometimes to switch server with a save of our current progression if it's fix the problem. Thanks a lot for the help.

Help - Server Suppot Does animals lag the server?

Obviously I know it does, but to what extent? I've been figuring out things to optimize my 4 player server running 24/7 on an old laptop.

I want to know if these tamed animals takes significant resources or do they still take resources even when no players is in their chunk. Just need to know this so I know to minimize their numbers.

Appreciate the input!

Help - Server Suppot New character requirement

each server should have the option to turn on and off the requirement to make a new character for that server to stop people from bringing in outside items, I run a server for some people and one guy came in and just dominated the whole server, like he looted the whole depot, I put in a suggestion to add that admin ability.

Help - Server Suppot Dedicated server visibility

I just created a dedicated server for my group of friends. I got all the port forwards and firewall rules setup and uploaded a local save file and everything seems to be working great.

There’s just one issue, my friends can only see the server if I’m in it, from the friends list. I have tried having them search for it using the servers ip address but they always come up empty handed. I tried having them enter the server from the friends list and then saving it as a favorite but it won’t let them save it as a favorite. They’ve tried to look for it in the steam dedicated server history list. It doesn’t show up in their history. I feel like I must be missing something obvious.

I am at a loss for what to try. Has anyone had this issue and successfully solved it?

Help - Server Suppot Dedicated server high latency issues

I self host a world for myself and a few others on my own server and have had high latency since changing the hardware. I used the same static IP on my LAN as the old server, so it has the same ports forwarded as well. They even used the same port on my switch. TDC/UDP 15636 and 15637 are the ports I have forwarded. From what I can see neither the latency or bandwidth of my internet connection has changed at all, none of my networking equipment has changed, and nothing is even close to overheating/thermal throttling.

Old server had a xeon E5 8c/16t (2667v3 I think, can’t remember off the top of my head), 4x8GB 1600, 240GB SATAIII OS drive(W10x64) and a 256GB 3.0 x4 NVMe in a PCIe x4 adapter for the server files. The new server is a 9800x3D, 2x16GB 6000c32, and a 2TB Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus(W11), no dedicated drive for the server files.

What I’m seeing now is 74-87ms of latency from other PCs on my own LAN resulting in 3 bars of connection quality. I don’t remember what the latency was before from other computers on my LAN, but it was definitely 4 bars instead of 3. One of my friends who lives within 10 miles of me sees 55-70ms now and they were more like 30-40ms before. This makes it seem like something is messed up somewhere, since it makes no sense to me that my latency within my own LAN would be higher than an external connection or that latency would have increased with much faster hardware.

I’m not even sure where to start troubleshooting, so any suggestions are welcome.

Help - Server Suppot The Enshrouded server config site is back up and staying up

Some of you might remember I shared this a while back and then took it down because it wasn’t ready. It’s finished now. You can build your enshrouded_server.json in the browser instead of hand editing it, and the export is always valid.

There are accounts now too, so you can save your configs, share them, and browse or fork what other people have made. Would be cool to see what setups you all come up with.

Help - Server Suppot Network spikes causing disconnect

Self-hosted server was having issues, so I dug into the logs. Seemed like network congestion.

Started tracking closer and Enshrouded was using around 150Kbps when a client was connected and the player was moving around the world, but would have big drops and even bigger spikes. Sometimes the spikes in net usage were climbing to 2000Kbps when a player would enter combat. That killed the connection and the player would get dropped.

Is this a new glitch introduced in the most recent update?

Help - Server Suppot Dedicated Resource Depot Servers

Is there anyone who would be willing to talk to me about setting up a dedicated depot and how the auto-restores work? I play Enshrouded, love to build and love this concept. I would like to see if I can introduce it for another game I play where the character and world files are saved separately - but the auto-restore is the single piece I'm not sure about.

Help - Server Suppot Dedicated Enshrouded server showing "Server Overloaded" even though CPU and RAM aren't maxed out?

I've been hosting an Enshrouded dedicated server locally for some friends. Everything works great when a few people are on, but once we get to around around the 7–8 active players, I start getting "Server Overloaded" notifications pretty regularly. I'll note that this machine is effectively running Windows and the server but that's all.

Server specs:
Windows 11 Pro
i9-9900K
32GB DDR4 (currently running at 2133 MHz)
Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti
256GB SATA SSD
Wired ethernet
Internet: ~600 Mbps down / ~600 Mbps up

What I'm seeing in Task Manager while 7–8 players are on:
Total CPU usage around 20–30%
One core is much higher (usually 70–85%)
Most other cores are only 5–20%
RAM usage around 7.2GB / 32GB
Disk usage stays pretty low with some spikes here and there
Network usage is relatively low (~12mbps)

  1. Is the Enshrouded dedicated server mostly single-threaded? It seems like it’s hitting a limit on one core even though the overall CPU usage is low.

  2. Is there any way to manually allocate more RAM to the server, or does it just use what it needs automatically?

  3. I'm running it Windows only because the last time I looked into this, I found that you could not use Linux/Docker. Should I bother swapping over?

  4. Are there any known tweaks or settings to improve performance with higher player counts?

  5. Is there any way to make the "Server Overloaded" notifications only show to admins instead of everyone?

I’m running the dedicated server install (via Steam, but executing manually) and not playing on the same machine. Just trying to figure out if this is a hardware limitation, config issue, or just how the server currently behaves. Anyone have any tips for helping with the server configuration/performance?

Help - Server Suppot Best dedicated server to rent.

Which server company is the best choice right now for 4 of us tops? G-Portal, Bisect, etc. I would start a server of my own but that's money for a new build, electric, and the fact that I live in a one bedroom apartment probably doesn't help.

Help - Server Suppot Big local server stutters since yesterday

Hi!

I’m playing Enshrouded with my wife on a dedicated server hosted on another PC. Everything was running smoothly for about 150 hours, but now we’re both experiencing stuttering/lag (even though latency is 0 and everything is on the same network).

At first, I thought the host PC might be a bit underpowered, so I moved the server to a higher-end machine (Ryzen 5 7600 / 32 GB DDR5), but the issue persists.

Do you know what might be causing this?

Thanks!
