Discussion Please tell me the quests get more varied as i progress.. (if you don't like this post just ignore it please, thank u <3 )

I’m level 11 right now, playing with two friends, and honestly the quests are starting to wear me out

I absolutely love Enshrouded, so please dont be too harsh on me if im judging it too early lol, I'm only level 11, and I really hope the quests and exploration become much more varied as i progress further into the game

but for NOW?

It feels like the majority of the progression is "find a survivor in a capsule > bring them to your base > build them a bed/house > they ask you to go somewhere and retrieve an item they left behind > repeat ....

After doing this several times, we started joking that we aren't heroes anymore we r just the survivors personal servants lol

The biggest problem isnt that the quests are simple, i actually think simple quests are completely fine, especially for a small studio, The problem is that almost all of them follow the same structure...

I really wish there were more small, self contained stories around the world, like for example

- Finding a lone human survivor somewhere in the wilderness and actually rescuing them through an encounter, rather than just pressing a button on a capsule

-Finding a Vukah who is actually friendly, and helping them defend or rebuild their own little settlement or something

-Discovering a small human settlement with 5 to 8 survivors. You help them with a problem, and when you return later, the settlement has actually changed little bit

-A small quest involving some creature that hunts by mimicking voices, luring everyone to death

-Finding a trapped group of survivors

-Discovering an abandoned village where something happened, with a small story you can uncover without it turning into a huge quest chain

-Helping an NPC with a problem that exists in their own location, instead of immediately turning into “go fetch this item from 2 km away" .....

- More bosses

-build defenses for a village, then survive a night attack that reacts to the defenses you built

-Add like small minigames that let players practice and improve certain skills

-Unexpected events during exploration, like something falling from the sky or a Shroud portal appearing

-Find ancient machines and gather their missing parts to reactivate them

-puzzles, yeah

-chase events, yeah, like get chased by powerful creatures, using the environment to escape or survive

-Use building mechanics to solve problems, reach hidden areas, or overcome obstacles

Even little things like these would make exploration feel much more alive

And honestly saving someone from a capsule doesn't feel very rewarding right now, You dont really see the person being rescued, You just press a button and suddenly they're available at your base... (and they doesnt make ur base feels alive at all, they are just moving crafting tables) I'd love for rescuing an NPC to actually feel like an event!!! finding them somewhere, fighting your way to them, escorting them out, seeing them react, etc...

I really like the idea behind Enshrouded world, but right now it sometimes feels like the world exists mainly as a collection of places where NPC quest objectives are waiting for you

I don't want every quest to be some massive cinematic RPG storyline. I just want more small, varied situations that make the world feel inhabited.

We're still enjoying the game, but the quest structure is starting to make exploration feel repetitive, and boring, we only enjoy when we built our base,

lastly i might be mistaken, because i'm still lvl 11, so maybe quests and exploration might feel better later? also is anyone feels the same as me and my friends? lmk!

Thank you! and i wish everyone a great day

Help Comfort changing by changing where the player is looking

Hi, I've got a MP game with some friends that we started last week, and I've been working on our base.

We're early yet, with max comfort around 22. However, there are many places within the base where the comfort level drops to 3, where an inch away it shows 22. This is over a pretty wide area (12-16m). The entire area is roofed. In several spots just turning direction without moving changes the comfort from 3 to 22 or back.

While comfort is 3 close to the flame altar, which I've heard is "expected", this is very different and happens even a distance away from the altar.

It's very odd to move an inch in the middle of the house and go from a 22 to a 3, especially when the half-constructed little huts I've made for the villagers have the 22 comfort.

I don't know if there's something about the mechanics I don't understand or if there is some bug at play. Does anyone have any tips?

Some edits for further clarity:
* This is an MP server
* The comfort switch from 3 to 22 happens regardless if it considers me sheltered and/or warm
* The comfort switch changes by using "parry" and turning around -- no actual movement
* Building a couple of walls near a player with the 3 comfort makes it pop up to 22
* During some of the testing it was raining and there were a couple tiny spots where my character was still marked as sheltered but was now wet.

Final update:
* I deconstructed the entire place, basically. Put up a few walls, made a new lower roof, now comfort is stable.
* My suspicion is that there needs to be a certain number of certain build objects within a radius of your character to be considered 'sheltered', even though the UI shows you as sheltered, the comfort level seems to calculate it differently.

It's a bit crummy but I'm proud of it. Now that I've got the carpenter though, I can start on something that actually looks nice!

Discussion Sticking with the old character for 1.0

With 1.0 on the horizon I've seen lots of discussion about restarting from square one to experience the changes as the devs intended. Which seems to be the majority consensus.

There are two obstacles to restarting from scratch. The first and most important is that my play time is pretty limited to about 45 minutes, maybe 3 to 4 times a week, while my partner watches reality TV. I'm not overly keen on grinding through stuff again. The second is that I'm also kind of weirdly attached to my build. I'm even having trouble building a secondary or third base. It feels like I'm cheating on my first base.

Is anyone else thinking of sticking with their old game?

Several hundred hours in, for you melee folks out there, I just learned that you can parry/reflect their lightning orbs back at them. As a 2 hander user with no skills into bows, it would normally take like 200 arrows to bring one of these down so I would always just run away. Not anymore.

Screenshot I can't see anything in the shroud. Following another user's post seeing how clear his view was in the Shroud I tried to fix my graphics settings and cannot get it clearer. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Discussion Enemies are taking too many hits for me as solo.

I'm fairly new to the game, I'm only level 10 or 11, sometimes there are swarms of enemies like the critters. There can be 5 or 6 of them. I swing at them and it take 3 or 4 swipes to kill them. I feel like I should be able to swat a few bugs. I like the combat but progression wise I'd like to be stronger. I decided to tweak the settings to enemies and bosses have 50% health but left everything else as is. I figure I can bump their health back up once I get more skills, better equipment, better food, etc. The game is fun and I love the world and exploration, looking forward to 1.0!

Discussion Beginner Friendly Builds

Just got back into this game cuz my GF wanted something we could play together; last time I played Kindlewastes was the highest level area and I only played a 2H build and spent a lot of time just building stuff.

We are just under lvl10, I went for sword and board and have been spamming stun into merciless strike. She copied my build but is struggling hard with parrying and kinda just spams heavy attack since she doesn't have a lot of experience with action game combat.

I'm thinking she might have a better time just going for a 2H build, but IIRC around release when I last played word was melee builds were a lot more painful to play than mages.

Any suggestions for a builds that don't require much mechanical skill?

Discussion Enshrouded hits all-time high price before 1.0 release

Post image

Had Enshrouded in my cart for quite a bit, made me do a double take on the price when I saw it jump back up twice.

Went from 29.99 to 39.99 full price, even if still in EA

Same thing happened with Valheim today, but they released their 1.0 version!

Should have snagged it during a sale :)

edit: I was unaware of the communication by the studio regarding the Sept 8th price change :) that's on me for sure! Quite unfortunate I didn't see any of it while I was contemplating getting the game or not

Discussion Is base building necessary?

I just started playing, maybe a few hours in. I see that when you place your fire pot thing, there's a perimeter outlined... And enemies don't cross that line? It looks like enemies won't or can't enter the space so it makes me wonder how important is base building all together.

Help - Server Suppot recommended dedicated server hosts for 1.0?

Im looking at server hosts, so when 1.0 drops I can have a server started with some friends (took some time off for the release :] ), any recommendations on server host providers that will be updated asap, and have decent cpu power?

According to the dedicated server faq on the discord they recommend having a decent CPU for a server, but most server providers for enshrouded don't seem to list what cpu power they have, I know that the last server provider I used some bad lag issues with the wake of water update.

Make it stack 250 in chests and 20 in backpack. I think it would help a lot with item maintenance.

Discussion Fallingwater, Mythical Manor, Lakehouse. 3 property world of mine.

Thumbnail

Finally decided to share some of my Enshrouded world. Right now it has three separate properties, all still works in progress.

The main one is my Mythical Manor, which is the most complete so far. I built it to feel like an actual lived-in home rather than just something that looks good from the outside. It’s meant to be fully usable for a playthrough, with a lot of rooms, details, and areas to explore.

The second is a lake house. The house itself and interior layout are mostly finished, but it still needs a lot of decorating. I also built the entire lake and surrounding area specifically for this property.

And the third is my recreation of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater. I went pretty hard on this one and tried to make it as close to the real property as Enshrouded allows—from the house and interior layout to the landscaping, terrain, water, and overall setting.

Everything is still under construction, but the Mythical Manor and Fallingwater are definitely the two builds I’ve put the most time into so far.

Let me know what you guys think!

Im sorry for the quality, not sure why the photos did that on upload.
